Baldur's Gate 3 - How To Pickpocket 101

before after stolen robbed everything all right so first thing you're going to do is you're going to take your character that has access to Fain death all right uh you can get it on a scroll you can get it as a skill you can even get it on an item but it is important that the character that you use Fain death on on the NPC is the one that you trade money over and the reason why I'm giving 5,000 gold to Damon over here is so we can get them into the green and the easiest way to get NPCs into the green which means they're an ally which means you can cast spells on them is by giving them money now he's already in the green because I've been stealing from his ass since act one okay so for me I don't have to do this but for you for any new NPC that you want to rob you want to make sure they're in the green so that's the first thing okay next thing you're going to do is you're actually going to buy all the items that for me are purple and up the items that are purple and up are normally valued very high and the higher an item is value the harder it is to steal and sometimes there are DCs that are way too high to pass and never going to pickpocket them even when they're Fain death so I like to just buy the expensive stuff and normally that's the purple stuff and the expensive Scrolls um so I'm just going to go and buy these whatever again it doesn't matter how much money you're spending or how much money they have because once you buy all the stuff that you uh that you want or that you that you can afford and that's too hard to pickpocket we're going to go back to the barter okay and we're going to scroll down and here's all hisone money and all we're going to do is we're going to shift left click drag and we're going to have it we're going to keep halfing it all the way I like to put it under 1,000 that makes it easy to pick pocket um but I mean it's just the lower the number is the easier it is to pick pocket I don't know the thresholds but I like to put everything under 1,000 it just makes it easy and it's not too much work boom now we have stacks of 1,000 this is 15,000 and we're going to go ahead and take all this money back plus all the items okay next thing we're going to do is we're going to turn on turnbas mode Bang all right now with your sneaky decky character that's going to pickpocket you're going to have them cast fog Cloud boom next with your uh uh with your character that is friendly with the NPC that you're going to use feain death on go ahead and do that okay and if you have another character that has guidance go ahead and cast it on the person that's going to steal which is a Starion for me boop okay and of course if you haven't already you want to activate your mark of the shifter uh buff uh which only lost a ritual spell disguise self which gives us another 1 D4 to our slight of hand checks okay and then of course we're going to hide here cuz in order to pickpocket someone you got to be crouching or you got to be hiding so boom and then we just go to end turn he's going to fall asleep go to our stealthy character and we begin the pickpocketing you can right click boom okay so before I start pickpocketing him the reason why we do all of this we fog Cloud we Fain death so the fog cloud makes it so no one around us can see that we're stealing from this guy cuz if a guard sees you or if someone sees you they're going to tell on you and then the guards might attack you or take you to prison and we don't want we don't want to deal with all that all right this is Def this method right here is definitely the easiest and safest way to not have to deal with the NPCs at all all right and because he's asleep he's not going to notice even when he wakes up and we take everything from him he's going to act like it's a normal ass day all right and because he's Fanning death it is possible even with Advantage even with all our Buffs here to our stealth or to our side of hand even if we do fail a check it doesn't matter because he's sleeping so we have nine turns of succeeding all of our U slight of hand checks to be able to steal every single item off of this character and that's why we use this method okay there are easier faster methods sure but this is the most safe um and because it doesn't matter if you fail it's probably the fastest anyway so let's go ahead and start stealing this guy in fact I'm going probably go ahead and uh fast forward this part of the video so we don't have to go through all the items so bam so see right here we failed a slight of hand check even on a very easy um to steal item just because even if you have advantage and you can get very unlucky in this game but it doesn't matter all we do is end end the turn all we do is end the turn okay and we still have eight more turns of Fain death plus um eight turns of fog so we can just keep stealing all right fast forward continue all right so real quick I want to mention when your character that's pickpocketing becomes heavily encumbered which is very easy to happen they have uh it it'll affect your ability checks what affect which affects your slight of hand checks so when this happens all you got to do is open up your inventory without leaving the pickpocketing screen obviously you want to open up inventory and whatever the most recent items that were just send to Camp click shift click all the way to the item send the camp and there you go and keep stealing and there we go we have officially stolen everything off of Damon his money his items and his pride now let's go and end let's go and end here let's go and wake his ass up all right let's go and help him up okay he he walks out of the fog cloud and look now normally when you pickpocket and awake character they start complaining they start saying someone someone robbed me someone robbed me they call the guards they call the SWAT and all the items that you just stole might have to be returned or you have to attack the city or you have to go to prison something like that but look he wakes up walks out of the fog cloud and goes right back to work even if we stole everything off of his person okay and there you go and let me go and show you guys my uh my inventory all right so you can see here I have 140,000 gold all right and I have all the squirrels in the goddamn world all right and I didn't even do this by abusing this way of pickpocketing I did this literally casually playing through the game all right because vendors refresh after a long rest all right and each vendor gets a little bit of gold so all I did was every time I needed a long rest to progress through the story I went back to you know um there's a there's a few vendors in each Act that are the bulky ones that that that restock with like 2 3K gold they restock with Scrolls they restock with good um consumables and materials and whatnot all I did was go back to those those vendors uh every once in a while to go get some gold or to go get some scrs that I wanted and as you you could see with 140,000 gold and every every scroll known to man it's it's very useful it's very useful not only that my characters are very rich they're very strong see now I don't have I don't have to use spell slots ever again I could just use Scrolls you know what I'm saying um so yeah that is my pickpocketing method it is very safe it is very easy all right and now I'm going to show you guys the items that I used that can help with your pickpocketing experience all right so here are some items that can be helpful when you're trying to pickpocket am I am I crouching okay I'm not um first the hammer Grim Mist amulet this comes with fog Cloud that refreshes after a long rest all right you can get this again I'm going to show you these guys these items guys but I don't exactly know where they are or I don't remember because there's so many freaking items in this game if you want to know where each of these items are I do have a guide on each Act on where these items specifically are and in their on the map so go ahead and go to my channel I have I have that for act one act two and act three and you and I have it time stamped as well so if you want to find each and every single one of these items specifically go ahead and go to those videos and you can find them for now but for this video I'm just going to show you what items I have and why I use them in the first place of course this one comes with fog Cloud this means I don't have to expend a spell slot using fog Cloud uh Darkness can also work I think there is there is an item in the game that you can cast Darkness with by the way but fog cloud or dark Darkness would work the idea of using these um the these blinded Cloud techniques or skills is so uh no one sees you doing the the robbing cuz if if again if one person sees you doing the robbing they're going to tell someone you're going to go to jail it's just going to be a whole bunch of that we don't want to deal with all right so fall cloud or Darkness blocks sight from you stealing everything in the goddamn game all right so there's that and then there's the Smuggler ring this comes with plus two stealth and plus two slide of hand super good for stealthy and stealing stuff the minus one Charisma we don't really care about as as as our as our Rogue player I normally have my Bard be the be the face of my parties anyway all right but you can get this in act one it is off of a skeleton near the river it is along the river where you find carlac the skeleton's kind of hard to spot it's inside of a bush again if you want to know exactly where it is go to my act one video but of course this comes with plus two stealth of hand and any bonus that we can get to our stealth of hand is great CU it it makes stealing stuff that much easier all right the next ring I use is the shape shifter's Boon ring while shape-shifting or disguising yourself gain a 1 D4 bonus to all checks that includes uh slight a hand all right and you can get this off of the strange Ox that you see in act one act two and act three I would suggest not killing the strange Ox all right um until you reach act three because their their their inventory just gets better and they get stronger you know what I'm saying so you can get more out of out of the strange Ox by waiting to act three to kill it um I don't know exactly where to find these strange oxes you could just find them throughout playing the game you probably find them uh playing the game normally I know you I know You' like make an Insight check if you run into one of these strange oxes so look be on the lookout for that but you get that off of the strange Ox at least in act two I want to say I think they drop it in at least act two cuz again their item inventories increase the more actually you go through so don't kill it to act three but of course we want to use this to get um more bonus to our stealth checks all right next item I want to show you guys is where is the where is it the silver pendant this comes with guidance all right um You probably have a party member a druid or a cleric or someone that has this in your party already but just in case you don't you can get this guidance again it's an act one I think it's on top of a pillar or some on top of on top of some mountains um but of can this is this is just a 1 D4 bonus to your check ability checks and that that counts for stealth uh for SL of hand which is our pickpocketing skill okay and the last item that I want to show you guys is the boots of apparent death These Boots allow the wearer to cast Fain death once per short rest so these are even better than the fog Cloud the fog Cloud amulet that I showed you guys feain death is um the skill that we use for the NPCs and again the reason why we want to feain death them is so when they wake up you know it's like nothing happened even though we steal all their money even though we steal all their items all their squirrels all consumables it doesn't matter cuz they were sleeping they have no idea all right and that's the that's why we use Fain death this method again super safe super easy it does take a little bit of time to set up but for the uh because there's no consequences there's really no risk with it involved I think it's the fastest and easiest and and best way to pick pocket all right so again yeah those are the items and that's it man I'm going to show you guys my inventories again you know these inventories were built just I'm just playing the game casually I'm not even going too crazy you know I'm not taking long rest robbing the vendors taking long rest robbing the vendors I just robbed them whenever I saw fit whenever I walked past them and this is the inventory that I got all these Scrolls all these scrolls are worth like 5,000 each by the way these uh level six squirrels so yeah man super easy way to pickpocket um and I hope you guys use this method hopefully not too much because it makes the game really really easy you know I hope I actually hope larion Studios the the makers of this game come up with uh another difficulty or some that doesn't allow you to do to do this kind of stuff all right um but then again it it's super fun and I hope this method works for you you guys um and I hope you like the video for today and if you did y'all know what to do like
