In depth video on the ak12 for anyone interested in this kinda content. Very surprised with the direction IW went with the weapon balancing. It honestly seems like they cater entirely to noobs. AK is needs a recoil buff and other guns need a recoil nerf. Also NERF NO STOCK. better yet delete it because it is the dumbest fucking most unrealistic attachment ever

channel right now is Big Daddy limited Big Daddy limited is like the Costco the gun world $0.99 for the first month after that it goes up a little bit but you get sick deals on stuff you need sick plaid gloves and bags vertex of course lax ammunition for all of your ammunition needs ladies gentlemen and of course MQ ones welcome to the channel this video is being brought to you by simply say big thank you to them for supporting the channel today we're gonna be talking about a very interesting rifle we have the ak-12 this is something that I've wanted to talk about for a long time however there are very few examples in the United States well very few that have the correct fire control groups and that are as true to form as it can be lucky for me the Psychopaths over at rifle dynamics allowed me to do a video on this so if you're not familiar with rifle dynamics a big thank you to them they allowed me to film at their place they put up lights they have my background they did all that stuff and they allowed me to shoot the living [ __ ] out of the ak-12 so big thank you to them check them out for your a.k needs the ak-12 is very interesting for a couple reasons but mostly because it's a modernization of the a.k platform now it is incremental compared to the ak-74m but it is definitely much needed compared to what they have so the ak-12 when it was first introduced and was first developed it was really cool there's a lot of really cool advancements now however the ak-12 that we currently have is not nearly as advanced and it was kind of scaled back quite a bit so we're gonna take this video to talk about how this right a little scaled back what we currently have and how it performs compared to the 74 and what I think about that what I think about it now if you're not familiar with the a k rifles quick rundown for you guys this is an ache a pattern rifle in five four five by three ninth along stroke gas piston nice and that pretty much sums it up it is a rifle this is not a short-barrel rifle in this particular case so the Russian military for a long time has at the ak-74m something very close to this now however they now are adopting slash incrementally adopting the ak-12 so one of the differences between these two platforms and what improvements were made so let's go ahead let's talk about it a little bit here so start off with like many other rifles out there we're gonna go to tip to bite standard in the military so let's start off with the muzzle device now if you'll notice we have these ISIL revetments a little tapered spikes right here on the end of the muzzle device one of those four well there used to break glass now this is another thing that has been used in many muzzle devices anything from surefire socom suppressors to these AKA muscle devices from russia use it and it's a great little thing to have as well if you have to do a less than lethal strike it's incredibly discombobulating so it's a great addition the muzzle device now many people have noted that the ak-12 is incredibly smooth to shoot and I think a lot of that comes down to the muzzle device compared to the 74 it is definitely similar they're a lot more aggressive now the thing about it is I don't know that that was specifically the solution to the problem the AKO has always had a little bit more recoil than the AR pattern that's simply due to the fact that um more mass going around right you have a long stroke nice gas piston system and they've chosen to attain that with the most with this very aggressive muzzle brake the problem is is that if you have any teammates around you it's going to be incredibly concussive or if you shoot at the range or anything close in with somebody it's not going to be nice to be next to them so while it does work I don't think it's a great solution to the problem now this muscle device also allows for quick attach suppressors now of course we don't have those I wish we'd but that is a cool addition that they have now beyond that we also have our bayonet mount right here pretty standard on a military rifle in many ways I think that the ak-12 kind of mirrors the modernization that the AR platform had this is something getting closer to like the m16a4 from the m16a2 like the 74 was so in many ways you kind of see a lot of parallels there moving to the barrel now here's the only thing on this ak-12 that's not SPECT correctly to the ak-12 is I've been told that this barrel is a little bit thinner and profile from what is typically to be used on the ak-12 and that's fine a heavier profile barrel will definitely yield better accuracy better heat dispersion and everything like that in any case a lot of people have been quick to note who don't know a lot about the a k platform that the a K is in inaccurate rifle I don't think this could be further from the truth the a K is a very precise platform if you know what you're doing if you're treating it right now the a K of course does not have a free-floating barrel like the AR system does but despite that you still get pretty good accuracy I've seen anything from 1 to 2 MOA from military rifles and from testing that I've seen done in the ak-12 as soon as you be doing a little bit better depending on the ammunition used and the shooter because it's honestly more about the shooter than it is how I get the system is typically the shooter is the kind of fulcrum of a rifle being accurate or inaccurate in any case moving it up from there we do have one thing that is significantly different from the ak-74m on the ak-74m we have our sight front sight post which is separate from our gas block on the ak-12 our front sight post is incorporated into our gas block now just like the 74 M it keeps the same improvements that they had on the a k pattern of rifles when they did a 90-degree gas port on the ake a pattern of rifles now the reason that you need in a 90-degree gas port is it used to be a 45 degree and what would happen is you had thinner edges at the sides what would happen is as you fired those thinner edges with a road and then eventually get a open up gas port which would lead to over gassing and the system would begin to better at you'd have a lot of problems that would stem from that that was probably mostly fixed with the 90-degree gas port on the modern a.k rifles and the ak-12 like others retains that okay moving from the gas block to the front sight post there's not a whole lot that I need to say about it other than it has the wings like other aka pattern rifles to protect the front sight post the front sight post is the same thickness that we've seen on other AKA pattern rifles and they looked good so there's nothing really bad to say about them but what is really interesting that I have to bring up right now is if you notice the rear sight post is now moved further back so as opposed to being very close in and that was kind of one of the reasons why the earlier rifles had the front sight post so far out is if you put the front sight post all the way back here you have a very short sight radius the ak-12 fixes us in many ways by moving its front sight it's a rear sight post all the way back and that definitely aids in accuracy if you're shooting with iron sights on these particular systems so the handguard was definitely improved they have an addition of rails on the bottom and the top and you can also add a rails to the side the problem is is that it's not a great mounting platform for our IR so if you're gonna be doing any type of IR shooting this isn't a very stable platform or for optics where it's gonna retain zero very well so while it is welcomed to have the ability to mount things via Picatinny I think that the handguard leaves a lot to be desired due to the fact that it's not a great mounting platform for actual things that you require for work now for lights definitely you can definitely mount a light on this but when it comes to your IR or your optics I definitely would not recommend it the dust cover is strengthened reinforced has reinforced points for mounting as well as you can see it's mounting solution right here which allows for an incredibly stable mounting platform for optics lasers anything of that nature very cool very forward-thinking to be to allow people to mount the optics further back because the fact the matter is while you can mount micro optics further up you're adding weight up front and as well if you want to use some type of low-power variable scope it wasn't really a good place where you could do some type of side rail mount but the addition of having the picatinny on the back is much welcomed and definitely needed when it comes to comes to this rifle so this is a modernization of the a.k platform that I think is just phenomenal it's exactly what we needed in the platform and probably the most forward-thinking part of the entire design we do have a different magazine for the ak-12 now of course they do fit traditional plumb mags as well so if you take this plumb mag off of the ak-74 you can see that rocks end no problem no issues there but the ak-12 mags are very interesting and much like modern Magpul mags of windows this is windowed as well and I know you could take older aka mags you can Dremel into the center and you can see the rounds but having a clear polymer to protect ingress mud and dirt and that type thing is definitely a good thing so I definitely like the newer ak-12 mags which is nice about them as well is much like Magpul mags they have those nice little grips kind of cut and molded into the magazine itself which makes a little bit easier to grip than those kind of slick sided magazines that you had on the 74 pounds of rifles so definitely something that was needed and that they did again incremental modernisations are leading to a better rifle overall what an interesting thing is well about the ak-12 is compared to like the 74 so if we wanted to pop the gas tube off we simply lift this up you lift the entire thing off to clean out the gas piston and that type of thing I'm a k-12 that lacks that because it's part of the locking mechanism for the top rail so instead to get to that you actually open it out the front on this particular setup again this is nothing new many rifles have a very similar mechanism but it was definitely something that was necessary to allow the mounting of optics so pretty cool little addition there something that's definitely different from the ak-74 so the receiver is similar to the ak-74 a bit different you're not gonna be able to swap parts out there are of course many parts that are similar like the magazine release in that type of thing if you're not familiar with the AKA mags release simply pack a paddle type magazine release now in the original ak-12 they had this mechanism that was spring-loaded that allowed you to kick out a magazine a little bit easier that was eventually done away with and they went with a tried-and-true platform for moving for removing magazines it's not a big deal again it's just a manual arms thing to pop the magazine out I do think it is easier to remove a magazine on a ar-15 import platform but it's it's not really that big of a deal it's just some things had to cut back on because Russia doesn't have a ton of money now if you're gonna have any type of firearm I'm not gonna believe you're the point too much but you should have some type of home security for me personally I use simply safe it's something that I've recommended for a long time simply because it's scalable a lot of security systems you have to buy everything at once simply say that's cool because I can buy what I can afford and then salt where I need it so what I like about it is I can install different types of sensors where I need them so like in my gun room I have video sensor I have you know window break sensor I have door mutters door sensors and all that stuff and it all links into my phone so I can see what's going on I think it's a cool thing to allow for you to kind of make those onion layers of security around your system it works when the power goes out all that type of stuff a very well engineered products can't say enough good things about them if you guys are interested we have our links right below a big thank you to simply say for supporting this video enough on that guys you know I support you you know I think it's good stuff get in there if you're interested right let's get back to the ak-12 on the grip we have a very reduced grip angle so you can see how shallow that grip angle is if you compare that something like a 74 right here similar but this the grip angle on the ak-12 is much more conducive to a modern shooting stance I very much so like it it's very contoured it feels good I have no issues with it now the selector on the ak-12 is much like the kreb safety we're able to reach up and just touch right here unless you have like monster fingers or you can reach all the way over I know some people can I can't so I definitely like the safety selector that we have again still a step back from more modern designs were you able to actuate it a little bit more easier to get to the trigger immediately after do bring in your weapon off safe that's not the case with the aka and it's like probably going to be the case of the a k for a little while until they do that type of modernization to it but in any case like the 74 the safety is perfectly acceptable and reliable for military use alright we've avoided it long enough we're gonna go ahead and we're gonna talk a little bit about the trigger so the ak-12 has really interesting in the fact that you have safe full auto one click down two clicks down you have two round bursts and then all the way down you have semi-automatic so we're gonna go ahead and we're gonna go all three of those together so starting off we're going to play a little unchained melody' we'll start off with full auto we'll go ahead and see how that trigger feels so I have not tested this on a Lyman pull gauge but it should probably feel pretty good alright so we have about millimeter two millimeters of play right there okay hit my first wall alright pressures increasing creep-creep-creep release a solid six pound military trigger feels pretty typical don't try it one more time together okay about two millimeters of play wall six pounds let's try the reset no reset because it's full auto yeah alright let's go ahead and go down to the two round burst let me set that let's try that first trigger pull okay this one when you're loading into it you can feel that creep immediately that first wall release the same same thing about clowns can't let's try that reset okay no reset because we're on to round burst okay we should now be able to reset okay blend it forward okay we had that first click second click and then we're fully reset let's try it one more time trigger pull two round bursts creep into it second shot interesting that two-round burst reset is very interesting you can feel the the mechanism resetting it twice as you're letting that trigger forward it's very similar to the m16 a family of rifles when it comes to its burst mechanism so if you fire it in you release before it completes it's your adversity fire one that means that next round if you squeeze it you're simply gonna get one round it's gonna complete that cycle of that to round burst so the m16 if you fired three unversity fire two rounds and you release and then you try to fire three round bursts again the guns gonna fire one round so it's very similar to that in the way that it's two round bursts mechanism works a cyclic rate of the ak-12 is around 700 maybe a little bit less depending on the ammunition that you're using so very similar to the ak-74 as far as its cadence is concerned okay we're gonna do the final one we're gonna go ahead and we're going to check out that trigger on the semi-auto okay we have two millimeters of play hitter wall six pound trigger check that reset blend it forward forward forward three millimeters for very positive reset nice you know once you if you're writing through the wall on the reset that trigger pull on that reset is actually quite nice a little bit less than six pounds I'd say closer to four it feels quite good so I can say a lot of good things about this trigger I think it's much improved over many military triggers that the APA has previously housed is this a military trigger okay perfect let's compare that to the 74 all right so this one that's [ __ ] nice it's not a military trigger Jesus [ __ ] that's nice okay I'm not gonna compare that gazelle but make this look too terrible so compared to the 74 trigger it is nice we have 274 here are where this thing is so damn worn in and broken in that the trigger on this is just incredible it's nice but typically from my experience a k-12 is a slightly better trigger than we typically see from military ak74 okay moving back from there we have our sock mechanism so when I first saw this I assumed that the Russians and their wisdom would allow us to use em for socks however they have their own a little design here in does not take em for socks they take their own stocks but it is still a good design it's very derivative of em poor socks and the buffer tube system and everything like that so it works very well has numbers indicating the position that you're at and I can say enough good things about this again the m4 kind of stock system is tried proven and is extremely good the stock is very evocative of a variety of different m4 Sox out there and it feels really good so when you're shouldering it it just feels perfect and being able to adjust the length of pull if something that the ak-74 and the ik a family of rifles have lacked for a long time so the ak-12 again is a step in the right direction towards making a more modern military rifle so good we have a button right here on the side we press that we can fold the stock now compared to the 74 and we no longer have that little latch mechanism that gets it's actually its own little mechanism right here the stock depress that we can slam it back into place okay also in the stock you'll notice we have QD cups right here they are not first typical QD mounts it is its own Russian system so Russia again going to their own proprietary mechanism which I don't know was the best option but it is what they chose to do and we have our ak-12 so was it feel like to shoot well it feels much like a 74 it's definitely an incremental improvement over the 74 so I think it's getting closer to how an AR feels again it is very flat shooting but at the same time it's simply because it has a giant muzzle break so I don't know that it's the correct answer to the problem so we have the ak-12 where does it stand well the ak-12 definitely feels better to shoot than a typical ak74 it's definitely in incremental improvement over previous a.k designs it's not huge and again a lot of the soft shooting that comes along at the ak-12 comes to a very aggressive muzzle break which I don't believe was the best solution to the problem nonetheless the ak-12 is an incredibly robust well designed rifle that I think will definitely serve the Russian military well although still I believe in my opinion behind the times compared to other modern military rifles out there currently being serviced by over of countries nonetheless I am definitely encouraged by what they've done and I'm excited see four more put I'm excited to see more developments on the aka from Russia to see what they've possibly come up with next the ak-12 right now is not really that available in the United States you can find parts kits if you can get your hands on one it is definitely a cool rifle I would be inclined to say spend your money elsewhere on a more capable system but it is definitely cool I think it says there's a lot of proprietary stuff that you have to do to get one to work but it is cool hopefully it becomes more available as time goes on the United States but definitely cool system definitely check it out but here's the thing is you're not gonna look good shooting this if you don't know what you're doing so get training if you have training you're gonna look stupid shooting this tons of great companies out there you have Haley strategic esoteric Darcy Tony cotton Pat McNamara tons of great guys out there to share their knowledge with you and make you
