the bible in matthew 7 verses 13 through 14 says enter by the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it one indisputable truth in life is that if you are walking on one road you're either walking on the broad road or the narrow road when talking about the broad road jesus said broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it but why would the most popular road be the one that leads to destruction why are there many that choose to go for the wide gate the broadway i believe that the broad road is the preferred road for most people because this road is one of freedom and when i say freedom i mean the freedom to do as you want the freedom to do as you please the freedom to do things when you want and how you want you see many people pick the broad road because it's the easier choice it's easy to fall into sin some might even say it's enjoyable to fall into sin but we all know that the word of god says the wages of sin is death and jesus said the broad way leads to destruction so this is a path where it's all about the here and now it's all about how much can i make how much can i gain how much can i take but look at the narrow road it's difficult because it leads to life and few find it the narrow road is difficult because it requires you to fight you have to fight this flesh you have to fight this carnal nature you have to fight the world it's a fight not to be conformed to this world and you also have to fight the enemy this is the narrow road the narrow road requires you to roll up your sleeves square your shoulders and fight the broad road however that's the way of living that doesn't require you to resist the flesh it doesn't require you to resist the world or the devil because you're knee-deep in sin but the narrow road this way of living means that you do not do what you want you do the lord's will it means you don't do things as you see fit you don't take matters into your own hands but instead you bow and surrender your will and you acknowledge that god is in control so saints which road are you walking on broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it to be put simply if you find that being a christian is easy you're not walking on the narrow road it's difficult but with that being said our lord jesus christ has and will give you the strength and the grace to endure if you are willing be willing saints have a willing heart now let us pray lord jesus i praise you and i give you all glory and honor father life and death are before me and i choose life i choose eternal life in your presence king jesus lord jesus if i stumble i pray that you would steady my feet and place me on solid ground if i should commit a sin and fall help me to get back up lord don't allow me to live in sin father but convict me i ask that the holy spirit would knock on the door of my heart knock on the door of my heart and convict me to repent lord i desire to walk on the narrow road i desire to live righteously i desire to fight the sinful nature of this flesh i desire to fight the standards and expectations of this world and in as much as i desire to fight lord jesus i will not fight through my own strength or my own power but i will ask that you would strengthen me i ask that the holy spirit would strengthen me as i walk on this narrow road holy spirit strengthened me to stay pure with god's holy word father your word says in john 3 verses 17 through 18 for god did not send his son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through him whoever believes in him is not condemned but whoever does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only son of god as your children father we're grateful that you did not come to condemn the world you did not come to condemn us but instead to save us and so lord jesus i pray that you would save us from our own sinful nature wash us clean with your blood save and deliver us from the enemy deliver us from every scheme and device that has been set up to tempt us and to make us fall into sin deliver us lord from temptation fill us with the holy spirit with the spirit of truth so that we may not be deceived or misled by the devil father your word says in proverbs 16 verse 25 there is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way of death father let me not think that i am on the right road but be mistaken let me not walk in the way that i think is right but rather guide me lord guide me through your word guide me holy spirit guide me lord jesus so that i may not be fooled into thinking i'm on the narrow road when in fact i'm only doing what seems right to myself as opposed to what is right according to your word john 10 verse 9 says i am the door if anyone enters by me he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture lord jesus in this life i will continue to look to you so long as i am focused on you and place you as lord over my life i will continuously look forward to spending eternity with you king jesus i thank you for hearing my prayer and i bless your holy name
