[Music] welcome back to Langley Files Academy as always I'm Brayden and this is another nine versus 40 versus 45 we've got cinder blocks lined up this is a cinder block test but before we go too far into that take a look at the bullets and the equipment we're using then we'll explain the targets all right so the bullets and the guns that we're using are fairly straightforward we're using a 9 mil a 40 Cal and a 45 each out of their individual guns the 9 mil that we're using is a hundred and fifteen grain projectile going 11 hundred and 25 feet per second so this is a very light projectile moving quickly that is being shot out of a Springfield XDM 9 millimeter 4.5 slide the next bullet is a 40 caliber 180 grain projectile going about a thousand feet per second so as the mass goes up the velocity is going down that is being fired out of a Springfield XDM 5.2 and the last bullet on the list is a 45 this is a 230 grain projectile going about 900 feet per second so again you're seeing velocity go down as mass goes up if it were a graph they would be crossing earlier and earlier and earlier on the different calibers but that's the ones that we're using today and those are the projectiles excuse me those are the guns the gun that we're shooting for a 45 is a Glock 30 short barrel so this is a shorter gun I'm not concerned with the differences in caliber excuse me the differences in barrel length per caliber because all I'm testing is that impact point I'm not testing the guns themselves versus each other but I hope you enjoy the series the nine verse 40 verse 45 is something we've had going on for a long time and I hope you enjoy it all right so that's the equipment now we've got three cinder blocks lined up right next each other with a slow motion go we're going to shoot one with a 9-mil one and a 40 and 100 45 to hopefully show you the difference in the calibers to see what will actually happen I've got them all on my belt right now so put some eyes on and get to it we're going to do 9 first one shot in the upper chamber [Music] alright there's the 9 now we're go back to my back for the 40 all right got the same placement for that it's very strange I'm gonna go in the back your hip and all the other side alright so now let's do the 45 [Applause] let's go take a look all right so now those are some cool results remember we had the nine mil the 40 and the 45 standing back from this point it's actually very telling nine mil ileft forty in the middle and 45 on the right side these are traditional cinder blocks and there's nothing special about the ammunition we're using it's just Full Metal Jacket but let's look at the nine mil first so if you come over here you've got a pretty good dimple cavity on the outside the actual bullet right there and mushroomed out and there was no impact on the backside but a pretty good hole on the inside the inside of the cavity was also larger that guy out of the way now the 40 the 40 actually sent a crack across the entire cinder block had a larger entrance hole the same dimpled effect is happening however on the inside the hole the dimpling effect and the crater on the inside is bigger with no impact on the back so you're seeing a little more energy transfer with the 40 yeah now with the 45 we didn't even get penetration it went in a little high but it is not at the point where it's being reinforced it just didn't go through a pretty good dimple on the outside just like a thread or blackout a really big impact crater on the inside where that energy transferred through but nothing on the back and the bullet is nowhere to be found so that's interesting what do you guys think which round did better leave it in the comments below let me know what you think and let me know if you can think of anything else you'd like me to do with 9 vs 40 versus 45 but until the next time I'm Brayden I'll see you then you [Music]
