9mm vs 45 ACP concrete block test

hey guys for this test we're gonna do another nine-millimeter versus 45 ACP comparison and for this test we're going to be shooting these thick concrete blocks so I didn't actually measure the thickness but you can tell they're really thick I'm going to assume they're probably about ten inches across so what we'll do is shoot each block with both rounds one time and that way we can compare the penetration and damage and then after we do that we'll just shoot both of them a whole bunch of times with each round and then we'll compare the difference after that and we're going to be using the winchester white box 100 round value pack for both the 9 and 45 the 9 millimeter is a 115 grain FMJ and the 45 is a 230 grain FMJ and here's what both the rounds look like the 9 millimeter and the 45 acp and both of these rounds will be shot through 5 inch barrels so we should get a pretty even test we're using the same brand of ammo with the same length barrels okay first up we're gonna try the 9 millimeter 115 great FMJ ok now let's see what the 230 [Music] [Applause] so it looks like our nine-millimeter went in about that far maybe about three quarters of an inch and our 45 went in about that far probably just about half an inch so I can tell the nine-millimeter definitely put a deeper hole but the 45 made a much wider hole so overall they probably did about the same amount of damage to the block in terms of concrete displaced they just did it in a slightly different fashion the 9 a little deeper and the 45 a little wider but more shallow which is pretty much their ballistics they have nearly the same amount of foot-pounds of energy one is just lighter and faster while the others heavier and slower so anyways that's all for the individual round test now let's shoot both of these blocks a whole bunch of times and then compare the difference okay so first 9-millimeter again and we're just going to hit the block with 15 rounds and see what that will do and now the 45 ACP and here's what our blocks look like now of course there's a whole bunch of chunks that were blown off and are now just laying there and if we look down here there's actually a bullet laying right here which is obviously a 9-millimeter based on the diameter of the base so there's one of our nine millimeters that hit the concrete block and that's what it looks like now but anyways our blocks which one do you guys think looks more destroyed the one on the left or the one on the right we can see the one on the left has a huge chunk blowing out of the bottom and also quite a bit blown off the top and the one on the right just has a huge chunk blown out of the top side there so I don't know if there is any difference between the blocks like if one was harder than the other or not but I believe they were the exact same the only difference was the rounds we were using so in my opinion this block looks more destroyed to me it looks like we have a similar amount blown out of one side but we also have all this blown off the top which makes this once more destroyed in my opinion and with this one it looks like we had some blown off all the way to the back here this was our nine millimeter block and this was our 45 ACP block so it looks like with the nine millimeter I kept hitting low and left so I tried to place them around a little differently and then I hit the top but with our 45 it appears I hit the top right side with every single shot you can even see the individual impressions from the shots here's one two three four so here's our 45 ACP block we just have bits much of the top blown off and like I said these are probably about ten inch thick blocks so right here on the side the furthest that it penetrated we probably got almost 5 inches in maybe just a little over 4 so that's what 15 45 ACP s did to this block and here's what 15 9 millimeters did to this block pretty similar penetration on the bottom probably nearly 5 inches in right here but then it looks like we also had some break off here and there's cracking along here but then we also had all this blown off the top which that's nearly 3 or 4 inches in there and another 4 or 5 inches here actually I'm wrong that's 16 of each round because we shot them individually at first so once again overall I think the 9 millimeter did slightly more damage to the block if we continued to shoot them I think the 9 millimeter block would end up being completely destroyed first and here's another bullet laying right here that's another 9 millimeter you can see the lead is almost completely separated from the jacket it's still hanging on just a little bit though but anyways that's all for the 9 millimeter vs. 45 ACP concrete block penetration test as always thanks for watching [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you
