not within our circle in the eighth sunday in ordinary time this sunday jesus asked us to care for those around us those within our community however before doing that we must transform ourselves first as a true disciple of jesus brothers and sisters let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have gratefully sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault therefore i ask blessed mary and the virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life amen lord have mercy lord have mercy christ have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy lord have mercy glory to god in the highest and on earth peace to people of good will we praise you we bless you we adore you we glorify you we give you thanks for your great glory lord god heavenly king o god almighty father lord jesus christ only begotten son lord god lamb of god of the father you take away the sins of the world have mercy on us you take away the sins of the world receive our prayer you are seated at the right hand of the father have mercy on us for you alone are the holy one you alone are the lord for you alone are the most high jesus christ with the holy spirit in the glory of god the father amen let us pray grant us lord we pray that the cause of the world may be directed by your peaceful rule and that your church may rejoice and troubled in her devotion through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever amen a reading from the book of acclia stickers in a shaken sieve the rubbish is left behind so too the defects of a man appear in his talk the king tests the work of the porter the test of a man is in his conversation the orchard where the tree grows is judged on the quality of its fruit similarly a man's words betray what he feels do not praise a man before he has spoken since this is the test of man the word of the lord thanks be to god it is good to give you thanks o lord it is good to give thanks o lord it is good to give thanks to the lord to make music to your name or most high to proclaim your love in the morning and your truth in the watches of the night it is good to give you thanks o lord the just will flourish like the palm tree and grow like a lebanon cedar it is good to give you thanks o lord planted in the house of the lord they will flourish in the courts of our god still bearing fruit when they are old still full of sap still green to proclaim that the lord is just in him my rock there is no wrong it is good to give you thanks alone a reading from the first letter of saint paul to the corinthians when this perishable nature has put on imperishability and when this mortal nature has put on immortality then the words of scripture will come true death is swallowed up in victory death where is your victory death where is your sting now the sting of death is sin and sin gets its power from the law so let us thank god for giving us the victory through our lord jesus christ never give in then my dear brothers never admit defeat keep on working at the lord's work always knowing that in the lord you cannot be laboring in vain the word of the lord thanks be to god hallelujah hallelujah open our hearts o lord to accept the words of your son hallelujah the lord be with you and with your spirit reading from the holy gospel according to luke glory to you o lord jesus told a parable to his disciples can one blind man guide another surely both will fall into a pit the disciples is not superior to his teacher the fully trained disciple will always be like his teacher why do you observe the splinter in your brother's eye and never notice the plank in your own how can you say to your brother brother let me take out the splinter that is in your eye when you cannot see the plank in your own hypocrite take the plank out of your own eye first and then you will see clearly enough to take out the splinter that is in your brother's eye there is no sound tree that produces rotten fruit no again a rotten tree that produces sound fruit for every tree can be told by its own fruit people do not pick figs from thorns no gather grapes from brothels a good man draws what is good from the store of goodness in his heart a bad man does what is bad from the store of his badness for a man's worth flow out of what fills his heart the gospel of the lord praise you lord jesus christ brothers and sisters we continue to read the gospel of luke in today's gospel luke presents a few short parables he first asked his disciples can a man can a blind man lead a blind man [Music] this short parable says that are we looking after those who put in our responsibility are we leading them by our good example of faith in the lord as a leader there is a short story that can link to the gospel today a woman walks with her son so many miles to see mahatma gandhi she is worried her son is over eating sugar she asked gandhi please sir can you tell my son to stop eating sugar gandhi says bring him back in two weeks disappointed she takes her son home two weeks later she makes the long journey again gandhi says to the boy you must stop eating sugar it is very bad for you the boy out of respects gandhi so that he stops and lives a healthy life he stops over eating sugar and then the mother the woman is confused and asked why did you want me to wait two weeks to bring back my son just to say this gandhi said because before i could tell your son to stop eating sugar i had to stop eating sugar myself first so this story tells us about the leadership idea changing yourself might help more than telling others they have to change and further till he said that by changing yourselves you will change how you feel and what action you take and so have a real impact on the world around you and the second short parable in the gospel today is about the teacher and disciple the disciple is not superior to his teacher the fully trained disciple will always be like his teacher are we a good follower or disciple of the lord that has been put in charge of those people entrusted by the lord am i a good disciple of the lord to be clear sighted and a good guide we must be formed by a good teacher and that true teacher is jesus he is the teacher of life that we should follow he will guide and show us and he is the only way to the father and whether we are a leader or a disciple the third parable is about respect and log in the eyes referring to our hearts intention do we consciously or intentionally harm others while not doing any good ourselves transformation must begin within ourselves and then we can reach others either as leaders or disciples suppose we do not resolve our issue in that case we are going back just like what jesus said to us last sunday on blaming and being unable to forgive others and we as the church the church must unceasingly reform before it can change the world and each catholics must change themselves totally before converting others and before condemning and judging before spending time criticizing jesus invites us to search together with modesty how we could become better beginning with ourselves by saying this jesus is leading us to the fourth parable and the good tree producing good fruit and bad tree producing bad fruit jesus says that it is not enough to have faith in our hearts only without our good deeds a true disciple is judged by his deeds from his deeds we can know how much he cares how much he loves and his faith in the first reading from the book of ecclesiastes we heard that the people are judged based on how he speaks and acts if one's heart is full of love peace enjoy the words spoken by that person will communicate those fruits of the spirit but if a heart contains anger bitterness and hatred that person's words will express these negative qualities the content of our conversation is the judge of our hearts the lord said it is not just for the sake of saying it but for us to follow he is our teacher and master and he has the truth in him because he is indeed the truth we heard in the second reading that the truth is always in the lord that he is the life he is the resurrection keep the truth be the truth in jesus and we will be with him in eternal life these four short parables in the gospel teach us how to look after our people especially those entrusted to us but we need to be transformed first and be guided by jesus in the first place jesus explains that in this gospel passage the blind needed to be guided a student needs a teacher and a good tree bear good fruit a disciple of christ has a definite nature too in our action at the test at the test of that discipleship as disciples we can become so accustomed to the gospel message that we forget that the defining threat of christian is the willingness to be taught and led by christ but when we refuse to be taught we are blinding ourselves to the very nature of our calling as disciples that is what jesus means by hypocrite he applies it to those who are blind to their faults and need to be guided however some are unwilling to be directed at all because of their prospect perception of their reality and only one what they want it to be in their own way the disciple follows and is taught by christ who will bear good fruit and be fit to teach others and the gospel of luke challenges us to be true disciple of jesus the gospel for this sunday ends with verse 45 but if we continue to read verse 46 we will find that jesus is stressing that he is the true teacher when he says why do you call me lord lord and do not do what i say so let us practice what we believe and let our behaviors be a genuine reflection of our faith let us profess our faith i believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth and in jesus christ his only son our lord who was conceived by the holy spirit born of the virgin mary suffered under pontius pilate was crucified died and was buried he descended into hell on the third day he rose again from the dead he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of god the father almighty from there he will come to judge the living and the dead i believe in the holy spirit the holy catholic church the communion of saints the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body and life everlasting amen good trees produce good fruit god's word has nourished us and we now turn to him confidently for our needs and those of the world our response is lord hear our prayer lord hear our prayer for care in what we say scripture commands us to speak the truth may we be aware of the power of speech to hurt and destroy and may we seek always to temper our judgments with compassion and justice we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for renewed trust in god's promise saint paul teaches that since christ is risen death no longer has any power over us may we be comforted by this teaching believing the promises of victory through god's own son we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for integrity in lives may we be constant in what we value in life and by the teaching of the gospel we may be fruitful for god through the integrity of our lives we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for a right attitude towards what is of value may we avoid hypocrisy in our lives proclaiming to live by one standard yet living by others and may we be concerned for gospel values as faithful disciples of jesus our teacher we pray to the lord r lord hear our prayer we also pray for the peace of the world especially the country walk in ukraine so that the people may give them peace comfort and people may understand the value of life and peace be shared with each other let us put all our intentions in prayer in the hands of mother mary as we say hell marry followers the lord is with thee [Music] amen blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you fruit of the earth and work of human hands it will become for us the bread of life blessed be god forever blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you fruit of divine and work of human hands it will become our spiritual drink blessed be god forever pray brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and the good of all his holy church a god who provides gifts to be offered to your name and count our oblation as signs of our desire to serve you with devotion we ask of your mercy that what you grant as the source of marriage may also help us to attain marriage reward through christ our lord amen the lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the lord let us give thanks to the lord our god it is right and just it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and every way to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god through christ our lord for out of compassion for the way witness that is ours he humbled himself and was born of the virgin by the passion of the cross he freed us from unending death and by rising from the dead he gave us life eternal and served with angels and archangels with thrones and dominions and with all the hosts and powers of heaven we sing the hymn of your glory as without end we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest you are indeed holy o lord the fount of all holiness make holy day for these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith we proclaim your death oh lord and profess your resurrection until you come again therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope and john our bishop and all the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god the blessed joseph her spouse if the blessed apostles simon the zealot and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may marry to be coerced to eternal life and may praise and glorify you for your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever amen at the savior's command and formed by the divine teaching we pray to say our father one not in heaven and lord be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our that by this same sacrament with which you feed us in the present age you may make us partakers of life eternal through christ our lord amen brothers and sisters many have been distressed by their big weight of infections these weeks though the mortality rate is low and the symptoms smile it's good to take care of yourself well we have suspended the opening of masses for the general parishioners since last monday 21st of february until further notice we are sorry to say that ash wednesday must will only be streamed and not open to parishioners in order to maintain a 14-day break however unless something drastic happened to the pandemic situation we target to reopen masses for sunday to parishioners on the 6th of march that's next sunday the first sunday in land with an updated sop and we will confirm and announce this during ash wednesday at mass the stream must remember as well as there's a day of fasting and abstinence pope francis has appealed to the whole world and all believers to pray for peace in the world especially for the ukraine where hostilities have physically broken out so please offer your absence your fasting your prayer that day for world peace so much for us wednesday will be streamed at 7 30 p.m this wednesday all parishioners are asked to carry out the sprinkling of ashes at home as was done last year when we also did not have physical mass so before the live stream hamas on ash wednesday 7 30 all parishioners are asked to prepare ashes for themselves and members of their household by the burning of blessed palms from last year on passion sunday where these blessed palms are not available parishioners may use any dry palm or other appropriate plant leaves to obtain the ashes on ash wednesday while watching mars and at the time the priest sprinkles ashes on the servers at mars and appointed member in the family perhaps the mother the wife will first sprinkle ashes on the crown this is the top back of the head of the head of the family with or without saying repent and believe in the gospel and having been sprinkled with ashes the head of the family will sprinkle ashes on each member in the house with all without saying the words repent etc those washing the must alone may sprinkle themselves the priest presiding on that day will instruct us will guide us and he will give enough time so that everyone watching at home may have time to do the sprinkling of ashes the answers are not sacramentally blessed because we can't bless objects via online but still the sprinkling of ashes can be a very good symbolism of our repentance at the beginning of land you'll find the same instruction on the sprinkling of ashes both in our on our website and in our facebook online stations of the cross only via zoom every friday inland starting this coming friday the 4th of march at 8 p.m the zoom link will be same as the online rosary link and will be found in our website and facebook okay except when there is stations in
