YMS Commentary: Wish Upon (Unrated Director's Cut)

hello and welcome to YMS commentary number six apparently six is a spooky number hey it's almost Halloween wow what a coincidence the commentary track has not started yet this is just a little intro to help you get set up basically this video is just our commentary and you are responsible for finding your own copy of the film this time we decided to go with the scariest movie ever made it's called wish upon and also I guess it's the Unrated version you can either watch along with this YouTube video or use the audio downloads found in the description just like all of my other content this is completely free and I really appreciate all of you helping out on patreon making this possible the release we recorded over was the director's unrated cut American blu-ray running at 24 frames per second in case you're experiencing any sync issues I'll be showing small clips from the film at the start of each new blu-ray chapter here's a tip try to make sure that your copy is actually 24 frames movie ever made it's called wish up fun why and because it's good okay you sold me movie is starting Oh quite the extension opening opening titles Ayesha Daniels from rolling out calm calls this film a non-stop thriller Aisha Tyler says I'm an archer guess guess how Aisha is Daniels his name is spelt Q I'm gonna say this Daniels has just spelt Daniels Aisha spelt really weird is it does the guy have lots on it even if it does no II I why s CH a I'm gonna go f ry CHC Aisha it's AI e sha oh I don't like that either yeah it's more compact but I still don't like it I head to a super it is economical behind Kathy pronounced different the fiscal conservative in me likes it but they said no but the Social Democratic me does not that's not Joey King oh yeah the girl is named Joey King Joey the worst did they have to like create this app or did ears do that in post they did that in post there's no way they have yeah no they made a hole like forgive my rampaging imagine that is so generous of you like a Pokemon go demon app you know if they did it would look more realistic than what it should well obviously but I don't think wish upon is gonna be doing hahaha recycle ah I'm a [ __ ] look at these people it's like this guy guys at least 31 they all got traumatized when they were younger okay they're actually a lot younger than they appear is that asian guy from 13 reasons why I think he might wait is the other guy yes oh my god he's the guy that - the other guy cuz everyone is okay shout out the thirty reasons why shout out to season two of the key reasons why Adam what are the crows nutty boys um they know what's coming I know what's what hmm I wish I had a house this was like the gate is just a wealthy wealthy bomb I just I don't I would love to know the ins and outs of your business here I'd love to know how that got there I want a movie just about her dad I think it was implying that the mom threw it out at the beginning and you still there yeah I don't I don't care I don't care about this magic box that's gonna summon [ __ ] Hellraiser or whatever I just want to know about her dad's stupid life it seems more interesting story has been done a million times what was the original called like monkeys par some okay yeah it's it's the monkeys pie do I go you get a thing and it grants wishes but they turn out bad Atlanta it's every Latin it's a lot it's every Twilight Zone episode ever maybe you should just phrase your wishes more carefully no and um none of this would happen always phrase wishes as vaguely as humanly possible hmm everybody loves effect of a garburator to open up the scene what do you mean guys well I don't understand what what's the problem I have a flair for you what that ice pack is gonna kill her oh that's how they do it yeah very subtle I thought it was this bitch's nagging just kind of looks like somebody who know it completely yeah that's what I was really going by face and not by action that's integer style it's like a man a better name is shir and hmm hey dad if you just go inside you won't be homeless anymore that's a crazy idea I think daddy glove influence on you he doesn't know what food is is that green subtitle of ominous oriental music playing at this point so if you're able to watch this with subtitles that's a enjoy yeah I don't know about you Scott but that will be this this won't be the last one by the way so if you missed this one and you just turn them on there will be more or will be more ominous oriental music I'm a big fan of this movie deep deep deep deep nice very homey definitely hit the Orion who don't know about the ominous why does it only doing when she's sleeping I don't know magic yeah I feel like that's sort of a good cover all explanation for a lot of questions that are gonna go away I don't know magic like white why is there any mechanical movement at all if it's just one sheet if it's just ink also if it's just going to do magic do the gears do magic yeah I guess they they have their own Chi hmm I'm just spitballing sounds sounds pretty ominous and oriental yeah that's exactly what I was going for mmm you know you're kind of ominous an oriental is a that's that one girl is suffering a serious illness not that a fellow human being isn't a lot of pain right now and a tremendous amount of pain and could die and their life is effectively ruined brings me great joy in the present I mean she was sort of mean at school so I mean totally deserved it she had it coming is your dog missing now did the dog die dog died and I forgot I forgot F boys picks with F girl GQ nausea did you find the dog dead and I just like completely missed it even though this is the fourth time I've seen this movie actually uh yeah my understanding is the dog is dead I don't know how much they showed yeah but she just reacted yeah well no they showed though they showed like he got disemboweled that's why I was asking yeah just crawl under there then waiting for rats yeah like how I'd have at me what was it like did they do it an autopsy like what was the cause of death they're like I'm just curious suicide by rat classic it's very ominous and dog version it's the dog version of suicide by cop I liked how she had to say madly in love what would happen if she didn't just like sort of likes me more yeah is that just wants to go to second base what if what if she wished that he started developing some feelings for her slowly but at kind of a pace that she could handle when you say madly that doesn't even leave it up to interpret mom was in there let's get crazy I never saw that any of the other time that was subtle that was really good actually right princess movie guys this might actually be a good movie Oh gears so what she's oh it's mister what was his name what was his name again the guy from Cassavetes the guy from nick cassavetes not Ducati John Cassavetes yeah you know what like the guys name from the end of that of Rosemary's Baby remember like million-dollar old man we lost like a Chinese torture machine get it it's like except for dripping it's a set of dripping it's like and except he's dead I think he's nine minor details yes sir so what I'm struggling I got it all right it's alive but he's being alive now so yeah that was he's being waterboarded water water board is being motorboated too bad too bad Robin Williams's character so we're gonna do that that had to be slapstick maybe this movie is just too smart for wish upon homage to The Three Stooges what I'm trying what I'm struggling to figure out here is like the gears the gears but also the so she's jello which is now the fallout from the first wish was like her dog died and yes from this one was this guy died yeah that she barely knows just a guy yeah it's a guy that like I'd her up when she fell or something like moving like master she was okay but like sweet word the way these are supposed to work is that there's supposed to be some sort of like irony in the fallout like she's already getting that because the guy falls literally madly in love with her yes that's one of the many many things that this movie does not understand at all about the specific genre they're doing it's supposed to be the wish itself turns out not in a way that you would expect which I'm not the guy down the street dies yeah they both it's also like when somebody dies it has to die in an increasing order that you care about them the movie just supply that she cares about this random dude more than her dog more than her good dog that might be 7500 died depending on how much time has passed you think the guy from across the street would have died first I don't know kind of weird maybe it goes in decreasing order maybe the next person is just someone somewhere one day someone in Italy hmm or just like a bug just a just an insect yeah truth or dare no [ __ ] if you told me she was in truth or dare also I believe you totally oh is that happy deathday is she in that - no probably what if it turned out wait there's just one girl in all of these bad horror movies that we just don't notice cuz she's so unmemorable sorry Joey King ideals I do still want you to thank you why would you who's to say look I look here I'm cured I'm a man of science I yeah I'm curious this goes back to like the faceoff conversation we were having I don't see her as somebody who's particularly attractive I don't know like I don't know see how you can look at that and go like yeah I want to see that I want to tap that yeah she's she's whatever it's it's more resets time yeah you know like what happened in that story that seemed like it might have been more interest yeah it's like in high school girl learning is that you can't relate to high school who the of the mob and I did for arson and that's how that story and that's that's pretty funny not even kidding they had an indoor pool oh you know what the best part is tell me data like home theater and all this scarface [ __ ] all over the walls he had like original props oh so they were a cigar they were real cool cultured people you say yeah like all criminals only the fanciest people love Scarface my dad like Scarface like he like know at different Adam also I think he just asked her out and she rejected him despite wishing that he would fall madly in love with her somebody explain this to me I feel like the Fortin I feel like the fourth biggest house in Edmonton is like the fourth smartest kid in special ed hmm so you yeah now I add him I was third and you know it how dare you people are complaining about fantastic beasts and like that Nagas Asian [ __ ] look at this [ __ ] this is like the most destructive Trobe okay second of all in fantastic beasts you're you're gonna tell me you're gonna make a snake woman and not make her Asian are you crazy are you out of your mind well you know what in all fairness that was JK's I I would have protested if she wasn't Asian like God think in the whole hey I didn't see this movie the representation matters hey you know what I agree represented let's in the end it's the Asian person getting a job Asian snake people need representation is this like the Korean family and lady in the water where their design I remember that they know everything sonar you could just go imagine Mary OH cuz only her Asian friend knows how to use Google hmm why is this why is this on Google just like a creepypasta was like a creepypasta it's one that they've made movie why is my mom holding the box it's like a baton north mm-hmm I love her actually mace her face yeah her like I'm figuring things out face we didn't see enough of that in Slenderman cuz nobody figured it cuz half of the movie was cut out yeah she's doing some good some good figurine oh yes Joey you look like you're thinking no never done that before but would it look like this no Joey try something else I think Joey Kings in my top one actors right now hmm sorry Tilda Swinton gotcha what the [ __ ] is it okay what is it tons like like wonton soup or something yeah I think so everybody's got really shitty art in their homes but at least the lighting is great oh yeah no all the way this is definitely definitely every indoor scene isn't way too dark I love having an elevator to like my room that is cool that is objectively cool so like is there somebody on the floor above hers and they just see who just buying the elevators pastor everyday awkwardly wave mr. baby that'd be great this is amazing yeah how much money do we need he's working overtime
