all right break it up you two what are you doing hello everybody this is hammer striker here wanted to talk about the 19 axe the Glock 19 axe versus the clock 45 but to really effectively do that I'd have to tell you what what is in 19 XR 45 well you see what happened is a Glock 17 was left with a Glock 19 over at the Glock Factory and the chaperone went off to go do something and the 19x appeared now in our reality the 19 tax was Glocks Seville a civilian modified version of their MHS trial entry that military's Maya handgun system trials they didn't win they decided to go ahead and introduce it to the civilian market which they did there's quite a bit of success it was actually a very successful intro go ahead and pick this one up course just get it done with but then I'm gonna go back to the 19 X what the 19 X basically is is a Glock 17 on the bottom and a Glock 19 on the top kind of an interesting hybrid because from a concealed-carry perspective it's usually the grip that's harder to hide so you generally go for shorter grips but this wasn't being designed as a concealed carry gun it was really a duty weapon from the beginning and there is a lot of civilian interest in that type of weapon you can conceal carry thus it's no different than concealed carrying in 1911 but with a shorter slide you get a little bit more maneuverable package and you get the capacity of the 17 so the sights that they have on it are a three dot night sight with a white ring around it kind of a visible ring makes it a little bit easier to see at the range and that is a significant deviation from Glocks u dot sights it doesn't seem to want to focus on them there are a it actually focused pretty good there that is one of the differences about 45 the basic standard gun comes with Glocks u dot sights which I happen to like a lot of people don't like them I happen to like them you can get this with night sights just like you can get most any other Glock but the standard-issue just walked into the gun store and buy it it's going to have the U dot sights the Glock 19 X was effectively a modified Gen 4 so it's mostly Gen 4 it does have the single pin that's consistent with the Gen 5 there's a few modern modified internals and it does have the ambidextrous slide stop slide release so it's got a few Gen 5 features and of course it doesn't have the finger grooves that are prevalent on the Gen 4 but overall the majority of the gun the slide the lack of front serrations is for this bevel is something that they came out with more recently makes a little easier to slide it into a holster kind of considered a Gen 5 feature even though if you were the interim gen 4 has had that the 45 carries forward with that has that bevel and it also has the ambi slide stop slide release both of these are an M DLC coating now of course the Glock 19 axe is coyote tan and and that was one of the things that was kind of interesting because you can no longer say that you can get a Glock in any color you want as long as it's black because you can get one in coyote tan I know that there's been a number of Glocks out in different color variations that third parties have done and then when they did the 48 and those series they started to have the silver slide with the black body but this one was the first coyote tan they had and it's kind of really a black moving away from all one color of course the 45 went back to black now some people have when you just think about it or just look at it the 45 is just a 19 X in black that's man actually true there are some differences the straight mag while on the 19 X which is consistent with a Gen 4 and it has this little lip at the front kind of acts as like a pinky standard pinky grip and it's got a lanyard loop the 45 loses that little lip at the front and it loses the lanyard loop that can be important because if you've got a gent 5 magazine that has a little extension in the lip at front and of course I'll work in the Glock 45 because it's a full Gen 5 but it won't work in the 19 X because it hits and it actually kind of wants to stick but you you cannot use a Gen 5 mag in a Glock 19 X you can use Gen 4 mags in either one but you can use the gent 5 mags in the 45 because it's a full-on Gen 5 it's got front slide serrations it has a doubled mag well which is one of the features they added with the Gen 5 turn it this way you can see it would make it a little bit easier to put the magazine in and they did ditch that cutout at the front that was pretty much universally hated when the the nineteen gen-5 first came out there was a little cutout at the front and it was pretty well hated this is a gem 519 with the cutout at the front and what ended up happening is people with larger hands their fingers had get in there and it would kind of bite on the finger and just be basically unpleasant glock actually reacted pretty quickly to the negative press related to that and promptly ditched that though even though more recent nineteen Gen fives that's gone it was kind of originally intended if you had a Gen 5 magazine that you could get your hand in there to yank a magazine out forcefully if it had jammed but you know for as long as I've been playing with locks I've never had to forcibly remove a magazine from a clock it's just not one of the problems that you have with them and it really was they solved a problem that nobody had one difference that with the 19 X is the magazines that came with so it comes with the coyote tan 17 round magazine this fits in there and as I mentioned you can use a Gen 4 Glock 17 mag in it but it also came with these extended mags it came with two of those that kind of hang down a little bit give you a little bit more capacity this came from the factory in the box it came with three mags two of these and one of the other ones the 45 just comes with three of the Gen 5 17 round magazines with the orange followers that fit in there quite nicely and they come up nice and flush now the flush thing is a good and bad if you've got really really big hands or you got puffy fingers on the Gen fives this is kind of some people have found this to be a pinch point I don't have fans big enough to make it a pinch point and even hammer has not gotten pinched by this but you with this little gap here if a puffy finger gets in there theoretically gave got pinched and with the Gen 4 mags they sit back a little bit so they kind of eliminate that pinch point so there's not a particularly advantage to the Gen 5 mags so the little extension that was out in the front of the mag the lip that was on the front of the bag was actually put there to work with that cutout to give you something to grab a hold of if you gotta forcibly rip the magazine out without the cut off the lip really doesn't hurt anything but it doesn't do anything unless you get a little bigger yokatta thicker fingers if so and you find yourself getting pinched by your Gen 5 get some Gen 4 max that work they back off a little bit so now you even if you got some puffiness going on that puffiness is going to be back away from the magazine and it would be kind of hard to get pinched by it overall they are very similar but what the 45 represents is the full-on Gen 5 you know single pin and everything else that goes with the Gen 5 versus the 19 X kind of touching on what would have become the Gen 5 at the time the 19 X was coming out right around the same time the Gen 5s were being developed they might have still been figuring out what the feature set for a Gen 5 really needed to be and they had done a Gen 4 19 with the front serrations that really turned out to be very popular it was a summer special and the front serrations came out and everybody say that's got to be it on the Jena 5 with it that's something that people have been asking for for a long time whether you do press checks or whatever and it does kind of make the gun look a little nicer now Glocks generally don't try to enter beauty contests they're not intended for that or designed for that but even with a Glock which is a utility tool a very reliable utility tool people kind of want their gun to look a little bit nice and the Front's variations kind of give it a little bit of a dress-up so of course it's going to come the big question I want a gun like this which one of these should I buy well I mean to some extent either one's going to work personally though I would probably choose the 45 a couple of reasons one is all of my other Glocks are black I don't like the I don't dislike the coyote tan but the black black 45 kind of fits in with everything there's nothing wrong with the tan and the sights I can actually see a little bit better we had these out at the range one day and I was shooting them both in a hundred-yard Gong and I was doing a lot better with the 45 and I think it's because I could see the sights better so these night sights are nice but you can see right now I'm under the studio lights and they're kind of washing out and that was the situation I was in at the outdoor range I wasn't under canopy or under cover I was standing out in the open and the sights were kind of washing out which night sights have a tendency to do versus the the U dot sights you can see them in any conditions except dark of course if I were in a dark range then the night sights would work better being able to use any magazine gen4 magazines I got scads of Glock 17 Gen 4 magazines so being able to use the Gen 4 magazines a little bit nicer look with these front serrations overall there's there's not a huge difference but there's enough of a new ones a different set if I were going to buy one of these and just get one I'd probably get the Glock 45 now you may be looking at it and saying well yeah I really like the 10 I want to get the TN gun then get if there's really nothing wrong with it it's just there's a few limitations this will prevent you from using the Gen 4 magazines you could always Dremel it off if that became a problem other than that reliability and functional they are basically the same I wouldn't say that any one of them is going to be more reliable inherently more accurate or overall more durable than the other just the the full-on Gen 5 treatment on the glock 45 just kind of edges that ahead in my opinion beyond that if you like our videos please give us a thumbs up
