what's going on everybody welcome back if it is your first time here make sure you definitely subscribe to the channel and turn the bell notification icons on so this is really going to be for those who are maybe choosing the glock name or have already chosen it and are trying to kind of muddle their way through which one is actually going to be right for them and i kind of picked out the three that i thought were really good to go over in this category and that is going to be the glock 19 the glock 45 and a glock 17. now there's a reason i chose all of those and those specifically and we'll get into that here more in just a second now whether you have been a 2a person your entire life or whether you're just dipping your toes in the water because of everything that's going on this is a video to kind of help you out if you've either chosen a glock name or thinking about it or maybe want to steer away from it into something else because there are a ton of just good options out there now the main reasons i chose these three specifically have to do with size capacity concealability carriability and just the overall durability and quality that glock is known for it's not everybody's chosen choice because it's a little blocky the angles are a little bit weird but the durability of this platform has been proven for multiple decades now and it is definitely one to take into account if you are entering into the second amendment game now very quickly the glock 45 is kind of that hybrid design it is a gen 5 shorter slide longer grip gives you a 17 plus one capacity conversely you have the 17 which is the full size one not quite the 34 which is a really big boy full size grip full size slide 17 plus 1 capacity and is the one that i have the most time on overall now the 19 is a great happy medium for smaller people maybe smaller hands a little bit more concealability and we are definitely going to get into all of the specs on these and we're going to go over the differences not only between the sizes weights lengths all that stuff but the generations because there are big differences between gen 3 gen 4 gen 5. depending on how you look at it there's different trigger changes there's grip changes there's uh changes in finger grooves uh changes in coatings barrels a lot of stuff uh change especially between three and four and then again in the four to the five generation and we're going to go over all that stuff up close in detail we're definitely going to talk about trigger pulls and what there are aftermarket parts all that stuff but the main basis of this video is to help you guys decide if one of these is going to be for you and try to get you the best one that's going to work for all circumstances now one of the things i will say right up front if you got the factory plastic sights on any glock that you bought go get some good quality sights they don't necessarily have to be night sights but definitely ditch the plastic ones if you plan to do anything serious with this train anything because the minute you start doing manipulation drills with those one-handed drills or anything like that you're probably going to break at least the rear sight off although i have seen in training i've seen front sights break rear sights brake you definitely want good quality metal sights a lot of your factory locks will come with them but if you got that base model with the plastic ones make that your first upgrade if you can't do it right then do it before you do anything else well let's go ahead and get into all the differences between the 19 the 45 the 70. we're getting the height the weight the barreling all of that good stuff we're gonna talk about the shootability and how they actually feel out there on the range because there are differences before we go any further huge thank you to my subscribe stars you guys are all absolutely awesome and you're really helping the channel out in big ways everybody else make sure you're subscribed to the channel turn that bell notification icon on and let's go ahead and get into all of these things right now all right we're gonna go ahead and jump into these three now if you're new or if you're not new remember anytime we're gonna be playing with these things we've got to make sure that they are safe and clear which is just done by dropping the mag and clearing out that chamber so we're just gonna demonstrate that because some people here may be new to the second amendment stuff and we're trying to help everybody out so we're going to go ahead and roll through the specs on these i'm going to read them right off of the glock website and we're going to start with the gen 3 19 and then we're going to work our way up to the gen 5 model 45 so you kind of know what's going on then we're going to kind of compare them you know size wise in the hand a little bit different on the gen 5 and 4 3 talk about the differences in the generation and kind of give you guys a really good idea of what's going on so i do have a light here this is my gen 319 untouched full factory setup here let's go and talk about what it is so this is a nine millimeter the magazine here is a 15 plus one capacity which means 15 rounds in the mag one actually in the chamber i always carry chambered some people don't that is completely up to you that is your decision so our barrel length here overall is going to be 4.2 inches we have a weight of 21.16 ounces okay that's just this no magazine then with the magazine 23.63 loaded magazine 30 ounces 30.16 trigger pull it varies quite a bit we will go ahead break out the trigger pull gauge and test this gen 3 but these other two have aftermarket triggers in them so i don't want to skew anything our overall length here on this bad boy is going to be 7.36 inches okay the slide is 6.85 we are an overall width on this thing looking down at it like this of 1.26 and then one inch on the slide a little bit wider because of the controls and everything else that's what glock accounts for obviously this is polymer as we probably already know and then a steel slide which is just glock in general now they do come with different sites this one has the plastic sights and i left those on there for a reason so i could show you these are not the best ones you will see the other ones up once we start talking about some of the other overall height of this thing with the mag in it okay is going to be 5.4 inches that's pretty much everything spec wise we need to know about that so let's go ahead and jump into the gen 4 17 and then like i said specs then we'll go over the differences in the actual generations so this obviously is a nine millimeter as well this is the full size version 17 plus one capacity so this is the standard looking mag all this this one's a gen 5 and then this is an aftermarket mag with an extension tons of options out there when it comes to the glock world barrel length on this one a little bit longer 4.49 inches 22.05 ounces nomag 24.87 with the mag and then 32.28 ounces with the mag loaded overall length 7.95 slide length is 7.32 overall width of this bad boy 1.26 and then one inch on that slide again the slides are almost exactly the same so good stuff and you can see this one's got aftermarket sights i always say put decent aftermarket sights on your setups and then i have you know surefire or my streamlight weapons lights on all these which is my chosen brand though don't come with it they're just an option let's go ahead and rock into the basic specs here on the gen 5 45 right here now this is a gen 5 model and got to say pretty good so again 9 millimeter standard pistol 17 plus 1 capacity 4.02 inch barrel 21.73 ounces no magazine in it and then we have a 24.48 with the mag and 30.34 completely loaded so a 7.44 inch overall length six point eight five on that slide length right there and then that overall width of one point three four one inch on the slide a little bit wider because it has ambidextrous controls for slide stop slide release just so you know that's what gives a little bit of extra uh girth on this thing i guess you could say now let's go ahead and break down the differences here in generations because it's pretty pretty noticeable if you can't see already and we will take the generation three so generation three we have uh finger grooves in it we've got a pretty standard texture got a thinner profile magazine release button right there standard trigger all the rest of the controls are standard nitrided slide standard trigger guard non-reversible magazine release on here and the standard glock sized rail up front which is glock sized it is not the 1913 or picatinny sized rail so moving into the gen 4 what the gen 4 gave us okay was a little bit of a different texture which in my opinion the texture on the gen 4 is better than the gen 3. it still has the finger groove same trigger guard pretty much exactly the same frame besides the different step will work but we get the ability to have these back straps so you attach these on your own very simple one pin put your chosen back strap on which gives you a beaver tail a large beaver tail or just a little bit more meat in the back if you have larger hands this magwell is after mark apart you know don't pay attention to it this is just my most used 17 i use all the time the trigger that would normally be in this is the same as the gen 3 minus some little serrations on it this is a glock factory extended slide release on there slides are going to be the same barrels are going to be the same standard and the glock 4 gave us the reversible and larger magazine release button right there so you can see the differences between the two right here both in the texture okay and the back strap area because on the gen 4 right here we've got the ability for the back straps and that much larger magazine release button which you can swap to the opposite side in case you are left-handed let's go ahead and run into the differences with the gen 5. now the gen 5 retains the good texture a little bit beefier texture than the gen 3 same as the gen 4 no finger grooves some people like the finger grooves some people did not i did not like the finger groove so i like this better everything else about the frame is very very similar except for in the front the accessory rail right up here take this light off so the accessory rail on the gen 5 they did go to the 1913 or standard picatinny sized notch it's not the smaller notch that you find in the gen 3 and the gen 4. moving up from there we still got the back strap we still have that larger reversible magazine release moving forward what we do get though is ambidextrous slide stop slide release so now for people that are left handed you can operate this without having to use your trigger finger or whatever else or come over the top to release the slide since you've got an operation on both sides for that the difference that causes is obviously you're going to have another little nub right there in the frame so you don't have to accidentally activate that gen 5 on the 45 you're going to get the rear serrations same as the gen 3 gen 4 but you're also going to get front serrations and then the barrel and the slide instead of coated in nitride which you can see a little difference here nitride over here on the gen 4 but then the dlc coating on the gen 5 just looks a little bit deeper a little darker black whereas the gen 3 gen 4s look a little bit gray also on the gen 5s you're going to see up here in the nose area it's been nicely chamfered off all the way to the frame very flush fit and nice now even though the 45 has that 19 length slide you will see get this right here a tiny bit of difference in that slide length because you'll see just a little bit more barrel poking out on the right hand side which is the gen 3 as compared to the gen 545 on the left so the the slide is just ever so ever so slightly a bit longer even though the barrels are the same so again i give you a good look you can see kind of how nose down and nicely uh you know sectioned off the nose of the gen 5 stuff is compared to the gen 3 and the gen 4 just a much much cleaner design and profile much easier to holster unholster and all that good stuff also on the gen 5 you will see a little bit of a flare here on the magwell so that is kind of that factory flare so you can get the magazine in there a little bit easier in case you're just a little bit off to the left or to the right so you'll see this one has an aftermarket mag well because i want as much surface area as possible but comparing this to a gen 3 you can see a noticeable size difference in the magwell between the gen 3 here on the right and the gen 5 with that flare on the bottom now the early gen fives did have a little half moon cut out right here that's gone in most of them now especially by the 45 the 45 didn't have that but the 19 and the 17 early models did so internally they are a little bit different so break this down real quick in the gen 3 gen 4 you're going to see a round safety plunger that's your striker safety right there whereas in the gen 5 it's a little bit different you can see right there there is a bit of a difference in the trigger just so you guys know i will bust out a factory looking trigger here this is the gen 3 gen 4 trigger where it's the connector the trigger block the trigger bar and then the spring right there so quite a bit different in the gen 5. so this is a gen 5 trigger bar and you can see there's no attachment point for the spring on it there because the way that it has been redesigned you'll see this area right here you'll see an additional piece of metal so that is now the trigger spring right here so it functions the same way a little bit of a difference in there i don't want to get too deep into the weeds i do have videos on this if you want to see the whole gen 5 trigger change i'll link that stuff down below well let's go ahead and talk about the shootability of these things which one may fit your needs and then maybe which one's my overall favorite well there are some pretty noticeable differences between all these so let's go ahead and just jump right into how these things feel out there on the range rolling a little bit that range footage you guys kind of get an idea now take this into account i've been shooting a long time i'm a little bit of a bigger person so the recoil may seem a little bit less or to some of you guys that are really superstars out there on the range may seem a little bit more to what you experience out there let's go ahead and get into that 19 size now out there in the range most of the footage i have was for my gen 519 although up close i used the gen 3 just to show you the differences in the models so the 19 still very controllable out there in the range you've got that 15 plus one capacity you do have the ability to add like mag walls things like that to give you a little bit more grip especially on the bottom of that pinky ledge but it is very controllable gives you a decent capacity however you will notice just a little bit more muzzle rise because it is a more compact pistol this may fit smaller handed people quite a bit better or smaller people in general especially for my female shooters out there they really usually feel a little bit more comfortable with a 19 than they do sometimes as 17 but then again for those of us bigger people the 19 can feel just a little bit awkward in the hand due to that shortened grip although it is still very controllable now the 17 that's the full size one that most of you have seen a ton out there either movies or on police officers it's just one it's probably one of the most widely carried things out there now it's that full-size grip 17 plus one capacity i've got a ton of rounds through glock 17s of all generations at this point and they shoot quite well most of these are going to outshoot anybody that can shoot out there on the range because of the way they're built um most of us cannot be as accurate as the tool we're using that's just kind of how things are now the 17 is very controllable it's got that full size sliding barrel in there that full size grip gives you plenty of purchase area for your shooter's grip out there on the range now some people are a little bit smaller might find the 17 a little bit big for them but most people kind of average height average size you're going to find that the 17 is a pretty good fit and it is very controllable because it's got a little bit more weight to it a little bit more grip to it longer sight radius out there which is going to help with aiming and all that stuff so if you guys are learning anything make sure you definitely hit the subscribe button and give the video a like let's go ahead and roll into the 45 now this is a gen 5 offering and you saw those differences in the gen 5 up close now the gen 5 is that hybrid design we've got that 19 length slide that's 17 length grip now that accomplishes a couple of things one still very controllable out there on the range for us larger handed or smaller handed people because you've got enough grip to grab onto may have a little bit more muzzle flip due to the shorter slide length but that is overcome by a good solid grip with a little bit of an extension there now it is very concealable being that you have a little bit less barrel and length to work with however the length of the grip can take away and make it print just a little bit more if you're carrying this and say like an appendix style now in the gen five the trigger does feel a little bit better and you saw a little bit of those design differences up close out on the range the glock 45 is a definite performer it's kind of that mix of two of the best right the 19 slide length the 17 grip and for a lot of us out there that's that combo that we were really looking for let's go ahead and talk accessories the aftermarket for glock is pretty much unrivaled in the pistol world everything from triggers magwells sights uh slide machining work optics cut there is an option out there for anybody and parts are just everywhere you could probably rummage through your grandma's basement and find a glock connector but the parts are literally just everywhere which is good because you can keep that thing running if a part breaks but two if you want to do things later that option is always there glock setups are very easy to work on even for brand new people in the 2a community literally to the point where you can pretty much watch a youtube video and do some gunsmithing on your own i say smithing because youtube video doesn't make you a smith we kind of jokingly call it smithing because smith and ain't easy right now one of the things that people don't like about the glock platform are some of those harsh angles especially when it comes to the grip now the grip on the glock is at a little bit more of a harsh angle has that big hump right here which some people don't like because as you come out you'll tend to have a little bit of a higher muzzle if you've been used to shooting something with a flatter profile so you really have to concentrate on forcing that muzzle down if you're switching from another platform with a more kind of neutral grip angle say like a 1911 or a sig or even a smith wesson mmp and you're moving into that glock you just have to really pay attention out there to really force that grip angle into position to line those sights up as far as accuracy go we kind of touched that in a little bit these are going to be far more accurate than pretty much anybody most of us are going to know out there on the range just because that's how things are these things are going to do absolutely what they need to do out there until we input us into them and that's when things start going left right up down because we're doing things to that tool to make that bullet go somewhere other than we're aiming whether it's that last second flange or maybe a harsh trigger pull so the accuracy thing is definitely not a worry that is going to be solved by good training and practice so it's really up to you guys to determine which one is right for you which one kind of fits that overall use for you this may be your one and only and if that is when it comes to me my choice on the glock platform is the 45 now i have a regular 45 and i have a 45 mos and i don't have any plans to get rid of either of them the reason i like that is because overall it gives me everything i need a little bit of a shorter slide for concealability because i carry appendix which is right here in the front gives me a better capacity without having to use magazine extensions which i always found i was using when i carried a 19 anyways so i didn't really i wasn't concerned about that a little bit of an additional grip weight so overall it just fit my needs because it's something that you can put a light on and use either at work whether you're law enforcement security military whatever you want to do but it's also very concealable for those of us out there that just need something to carry on us every single day and then of course the durability the shoot ability the accuracy all that stuff comes into play just with that glock name in general and then the aftermarket parts accessories if that's your thing which sometimes it is for me you can do pretty much anything you want to a glock at this point i really hope this helped you guys out if you're making a decision on which glock is the right one for you for those of you that are brand new to the community i thank you for finally
