cleaner sales job they explained that I'd have to go to people's houses and offer to clean one room for them with the vacuum and I'd get paid if during my vacuum demo they bought a vacuum nah I'm good I like the vacuum though an ex of mine worked for Kirby if I recall correctly he was expected to be in a person cells for two hours to sell them this goddamn vacuum I wouldn't want a Salesman in my house for 10 minutes he lasted maybe a month and then his paycheck bounced which meant our rent check bounced it was a mess much like our relationship when the Kirby people came to our house one time my parents got them drunk I think we ended up getting a discount on how a vacuum because of it I was like 12 and more concerned with what was happening on Avatar The Last Airbender retrieving used formwork ten guys throwing 20 kilograms pieces of nail infested timber down from five floors off my job was to dodge the falling bit soft timber and avoid stepping on nails while I did it for ten hours a day duck Burt no first-aid guy on site got a nail through each foot on my first day which I disinfected bandaged and went back to work Mayo WTF I've actually done form work and for seal walk and the stripping before and the guys I worked with would rightfully lose their [ __ ] if you didn't pull the nails or otherwise make them safe they're actually specially designed to be pulled anyway let alone tossing them down where people could get hit then again that was a union job be at uni Oh ends our beard when I was 14 I got a job at one of the few fast-food places in town that hired kids under 16 I went to orientation where they explained the positions different age groups could film my job would be to take people's orders out to their cars I wasn't allowed to touch money or work the fryer I showed up on the first say and was told my whole shift would be on the fryer I told them I was 14 and not allowed to plus I hadn't been trained on it the guy basically said tough [ __ ] and tried to hand me a hairnet I just left day I'm glad you left inexperienced people should be nowhere near hot bubbling oil not only his own safety but there are also a lot of regulations in food service about how food must be handled before after it is cooked an untrained employee could unwittingly give dozens of people food poisoning in a single shift Opie absolutely did the responsible thing making up for the irresponsible management worked at a recycling plant for medical supplies my job was to get inside the compressing machines and clean them the machines were filled with blood needles and [ __ ] it was absolutely disgusting plus the place was infested with rats brother that's horrifying that's literally horrifying I'm a phlebotomist and regularly utilized sharps been fused needles and bloody supplies I always wondered what the process was like after the shops been left our facility some help desk job recruiter light is a Soph you gotta be careful with them I've been sent into some bogus interviews because a recruiter just wanted to meet his quota another tip an old guy told me was to always send your resume as PDF recruiters will tweak your resume without your asking just to try and get you into an and wala fide interview and it'll set your ass up for failure and always take a hard copy of your resume to the interview I once had a recruiter helpfully add a bunch of Java experience to my resume I hate Java I was very confused when I realized I was being interviewed for a Java programmer position at least the interviewer and I had a good laugh when we compared my resume to the one the recruiter sent I was working at a restaurant a co-worker told me the boss asked him if he would sell in his passport different co-worker said the boss asked him to be a guarantor in a totally blank passport application some customers came up to me to say they overheard some men on the patio talking about trafficking people like in the way that they were discussing plans to do it unbeknownst to them one of these men was the owner was from albania by the way not trying to generalize but they are known to be a one of the human trafficking hotspots i quit that day and called the RCMP sort of like canada's FBI edit' spelling addon i've actually never even seen taken did they find anything i never heard back from the authorities but the guy is a scumbag sadly i see he has opened up another restaurant since so i guess he remains a free man i was 18 and it was as a waitress for a fancy retirement home where they made meals to order for the residents who all ate in a communal facility somehow we were responsible for knowing a person's dietary restrictions but there was no list of people with dietary restrictions as its protected health info we were just supposed to figure it out for example if grandma was allergic to peanuts forgot and ordered a dish with peanuts we were held responsible the men keep smacking my butt with their napkins and making inappropriate comments which was fine with management because they were old senile my first [ __ ] was supposed to be covering breakfast lunch 8 hours but because so many people quit mid-shift it became a mandated double i lasted one day of the 15 people i trained with only one made it two weeks and I bet they were all thinking young people are so lazy these days that's not right or legal I think to withhold dietary restrictions of residents I used to work in a retirement as a chef dining staff is considered a caregiver and allowed access to that information the assisted living residents ate in a restaurant setting as well servers would take orders and ring it into a post system it had to be rung and under the residents name because it would display their dietary restrictions we also had a printed out list of residents with restrictions for quick reference as the sous-chef I even had to update restrictions nurses made if the dietary technician wasn't there we also have the right to downgrade their diet to soften foods or thickened drinks if we notice them struggling to eat only the speech therapists and nutritionists could upgrade them to regular food away at college needed a job got hired on at a national pizza chain with the table involved anyway show up the first day and quickly notice every single person working there is tweaking everyone no way I was going to deal with a bunch of ducking tweakers and quit after my first shift manger asked why and I told him because everyone here is tweaking his response how did you know maybe it was the dilated eyes the fact everyone here is sweating like it's 113 degrees out yet I need a long-sleeve shirt to stay warm pardon my ignorance but what's a tweeker hi is duck but not in the fun way think like dancing in spot with that gonna duck you till you love me intense look in their eyes as they sweat ungodly amounts of liquid shit's nasty I grew up on a pig farm because my dad owns one it's the reason I have been vegan since I was 14 okay I understand I understand many many things right now as a team I applied for a standard teenage summer job picking berries on a farm thought it'd be with other people but turns out I was the only one higher and half fog the first 12h day was also construction helping the farm renovate their barn not worth it for minimum wage total opposite for me as a preteen young teen me and my friends would hop in my older brothers truck and go work on the Berry Farm 20 minutes out more you picked the more you made I was a rich twelve-year-old those summers lol and a belly full of fruit I did this too and they let us eat however much we wanted you are a lot the first couple days and then regular amounts after that got a job at a sawmill right out of high school it was probably opened in the 40s dangerous as hell first day one of the guys that worked there was bragging about how good the owner was to work for held up his two fingered hand touch the two nubs one at a time and said I got $500 each when that happened about an hour in I went to my car under the auspices of grabbing my thermos left and never went back that is some sweet home alabama' [ __ ] Wendy's I worked a lot off fast-food when I was a teenager but being corrected on the way I said mayonnaise was too much apparently there we are weird when we're kids pom how did you pronounce mayonnaise like mayonnaise or mayonnaise no it's mayonnaise I was in a seconded job that was later off at another job by the CEO of the company I was seconded to he tried to convince me to take the job without any contract or any assurance that the position was in any way secure once I assumed it and then later that day tried to withhold my salary after he heard rumors that I was resigning I was thinking of resigning but I hadn't made my intentions official yet so I pleaded my case until they finally released my salary an hour after withdrawing my salary I submitted my resignation what does second a job mean my company transferred me to another company who took over paying my salary in exchange for working on a specific project that the two campaigns were cooperating on when I was 16 I got a job at KFC it was disgusting the kitchen was dirty and people were rude ah they had me making the coleslaw it came in separate bags that is cabbage and single huge bag carrots Mayo I was mixing it by handled in a huge vat thing found a cockroach in there tailed the manager and he replied that it was normal I quit then and there nope doubt in that place people wonder why I refused to eat KFC I've never seen one that looks clean enough to be a restaurant mind you this was when I was 16 and I'm 35 now things can change but who knows I didn't but it was not uncommon at all to see new Amazon delivery drivers quit after one three days they picture it as driving and just sitting on their butt was my theory delivering 250 packages to 180 stops his hard work loading the van plus walking some stupid-ass driveways stairs with heavy packages plus traffic can be overwhelming I'm a warehouse worker for Amazon and I just finished my first week and it took everything in me not to quit on my third and fourth day did that [ __ ] for almost two years and what the hell is it with people mentioning the drivers we were pissing in bottles and working 14 hours a day long before the drivers came into the picture really though duck Hamilton doesn't matter what you do they still treat you like [ __ ] unless you're in Seattle then you matter and are important or some [ __ ] join our community discord link in description I applied for a call center in my local area interview went well hired on the spot and introduced to co-workers small rented space less than 20 employees was left by manager to chat with future co-workers while I waited for my mom to pick me up I was still 17 at the time three months shy of 18 when one co-worker let slip Sam mumble about how he hopes this young girl doesn't leave like the rest I couldn't get the guy's words out of my head so when I got home I did some more research on this business and found out they've been hiring for months and constantly losing people but primarily hiring females have then left the company pretty quickly after found the forum of such employees talking about being sexually harassed while working there how they never got paid what they were promised etc just really shady things but immediately after learning about the sexual harassment claims I called and said I would not be taking the position after all they didn't even ask for a reason man you'd think they'd get the hint after a couple of them guess upper management is stuck in 70s my current job seems similar in the sense that employees don't last very long in the new guy and I sit at a desk with a camera right above me with my back facing the office everyone can see what I am doing but I can't see anyone else in the office my desk is right next to the window of the Chairman's office this window allows him to see outside but I can't see inside the last person to sit in my seat resigned in his first week the guy before him resigned before his first day lol the guy before him got fired in his first year everyone in the office speaks to me as if I am going to leave I was 23 out of college with a business degree and I had just done a year teaching English in Eastern Europe and when I got back to the US it was hard to find a job 2008 my hometown is really small and there weren't many opportunities so I was primarily applying a nearest big city I was living with my parents and full-time job searching for about four months when I got a job at a translating company it was billed as a project manager as most of their work was remote with translators working all over the world for my first week the company put me up in an extended stay with the idea that I'd find something permanent while I was there on boring cool my first day on the job it became very clear that this global translating company was actually about five people and my position as project manager was actually receptionist seriously the most exciting part of the day was walking across the building to pick up the mail I went to the hotel every night and cried on the phone to my mom both about the shitty job and also that I was so stressed about trying to find an apartment or room to rent in a week with a 26 thousand dollar salary a mid-sized city in the Midwest during an economic downturn is a bleak place to be my mom and dad told me that if it was truly that terrible and stressful that I should quit move back with them and find something better it's the only time I've ever quit a job without notice a few months later I found a much better job in that same city it didn't pay that much more but was with a big local nonprofit in the rest is history dude never give up money you earned they misrepresented the job which is why you quit nothing wrong with being a receptionist if that's the job you're applying for a couple months ago I got a job working at a sales company I was told that it was going to be pretty straightforward and I would be going to stores and selling them some phone stuff I think I quit an hour into my training when I was told that morals have no place in sales and that I should say whatever I needed to in order to get our customers to sign their contracts I have no issues with sales in general but I like to think that my integrity is worth more than a shitty sales job not the first day but first week olive gun the kitchen manager hated me because I got hired through his GM and not him I also couldn't get over the fact that pretty much almost everything is microwaved every person on the line with their own new current there was so much waste with paper products because every single thing was pre-portioned in a cup with a lid and labeled with a sticker would be getting slammed and would have back up make more mash they would not let me serve hot mash out of the pan had to put it into the portion cup nuke it way beyond temp and then put it on the plate even though the scoop I used was the same portion size and the [ __ ] was still super hot the day I quit there was something else I got written up before eating the little end piece off grilled chicken that was left in the slicer after I handed it off to sortie the guy made me spit it out into the garbage after he saw me put it in my mouth meanwhile there was an employee who made himself a whole damn meal and had pulled the warmer out to sit on it and not a word was sent to him the whole time I volunteered to do the next trash run one person whole door open and stands guard while the other goes to the dumpster and I just kept walking right past the dumpster got in my car and never heard from them again until almost two weeks later when they called and begged me to come work for the lent special Mayo raising is a big no-no they didn't give a damn about the food itself what they were mad at is eating it off the line and they were mad because that is a health code violation having just escaped my craptacular kitchen job of several years I gotta say knowing a place like that is struggling without you is better than sex low-end restaurant franchises are pure cancer mcDonald's when I was 16 thrown straight and to work the grill during a very busy lunchtime kept getting shouted at because I was making mistakes then after they gave me a brush that was the size of a toothbrush and told me to clean the grill I just went in the back picked up my bag and went home mine is McDonald's when I was 20 thrown into the drive-thru with no training lasted three hours took my free lunch and went home I also started at McDonald's when I turned 16 I spent my first six hour shift on the computer learning about the job fryer register Grill etc it was a cartoony program but pretty effective next day I was on the grill by myself for all six hours and was told I did a great job but I told them I'd be in cooking on my own since I was 10 and wasn't fazed by the lunch rush manager gave me a free sandwich and said to keep up the good work I stayed there just over a year it wasn't bad money for a high school kid and I often got free food I've had worse jobs for sure usually people don't leave bad jobs though they leave bad managers I was lucky to have good ones stood at stack up 20 and finished doors lifted the top 1 1 inch and slid it forward 3 inches so another guy could grab and feed it into a machine which trimmed the sides when all the doors were cleared I rolled along another stack and started again repeat for about five hours and deafening noise first day last day and some people did this for decades yet IDK if i could wear really good ear protection this sound right up my alley LOL i tried being an ice cream man over a summer 11 hour day made around $80 and was considered a top seller if that was the best i didn't want to see the average day my highlight was buying a kid ice cream he started crying when he didn't have enough I bought it for him instead cuz that's what heroes do about five years ago I went for an interview for a job in my field at that point I had over 10 years experience and they contacted me looking to see if I would make the jump they offer decent money about 25% up on what I was earning I heard good things about the company so I said what the dark I'll go to the interview the day of the interview was okay until I got into the boardroom with a complete douche ooh must have watched wolf on Wall Street the night before because the first thing he asked me to do was sell him back his own pen I just got up and walked out told him to go Duck himself about two weeks later the owner of the company called me and asked me why I told his HR guide to go Duck himself I advised him that he asked me to sell him back his pen and I reiterated my desire for that dude to go duck himself I could her the owner Fassett coming over the phone he apologized I accepted his apology and declined another interview I met with the owner at a work function in March 2018 and he asked me if I was interested in a move I said no thank you he persisted but offering me a job no interview with a 45 percent raise on my current earnings I accepted I also Phi the wolf but we'll have to wait until after the court case and he's sentenced before I tell that one made me laugh out loud imagining this Jordan Belfort wannabe smugly tried to sell me this pen idea for you to just say go duck yourself get up and walk out without saying anything else the owner sounds like a solid guy at least the employee would most definitely be removed from the organization if they pulled that [ __ ] I worked at hallmark for a few hours once the manager kept on visibly panicking every time I made a small mistake with something and it made me feel so freakin uncomfortable I walked out trash crew interfer it was absolutely disgusting and filled me with a new hatred for people who don't know how to use a trash bag I started working at a Greek restaurant first day got locked in the walk-in freezer by some coworkers were cut food thrown in my face the owner threw plates at me and my co-workers for making an order wrong and I had to work from 5 p.m. till 3 a.m. without breaks even though I was 15 at the time in most places it's illegal to keep a 15 year old working that late wasn't the same day took me about two weeks I think I was a teenager working for stewartson NY the manager there was nuts always treated me like garbage call me [ __ ] on a regular basis are you [ __ ] refused to train me on the register because we need a guide to do the stocking and women on the registers I knew I wasn't going to last long when I went in the back cooler and it was a disaster she told me to clean it up and organize it so I did she came to check on it and decided to knock over a whole stack of milk and eggs and told me to fix it and do it again last I heard she had gotten demoted and is no longer a manager but still an employee I was hired as a GM for a Popeye's in my local area we were going over the food safety procedures which included handwritten tags on the open chicken in the refrigerator the open time allowed was 48 hours and was instructed to return for a further 48 hours when the tags expired instead of disposing of the chicken then was told if the food safety officer showed up and actually tested the chicken it would be the manager in charge that would be held accountable two hours into my first day I note right out of there there's a reason why most fast-food chains don't use raw meat and this is it you can't trust a franchisee and low-wage employees to make the correct decision here one outbreak of salmonella listeria can hurt the whole brand I was 19 trying to put myself through college slightly old a friend at my church offers me a gig as a shop hand at the crown molding warehouse he owns with his brother I show up sign nothing no talk of payment I asked him what the job entails he says just you know like helping with shop stuff hey want to help me put this desk together so I spend the first hour helping him put together an Ikea desk then he and his brother go to a meeting and he says I should just do more shop stuff I find a broom and suite in the warehouse like six times he and his brother come back and he says they just secured a new warehouse to move into and I should stop loading out the current warehouse into a storage unit I'm like great some actual work so he shows me the second level just filled with paint cans and loose paint brushes I mean thousands of loose paint brushes says he got a good deal of them and they all be great to spruce up the new warehouse he says he really needs them in the storage unit the only catch is he doesn't have any boxes he and his brother leave to go somewhere else and I spend the rest of the afternoon carting armfuls that loose paint brushes down a ladder and dumping them into my truck then driving to the storage unit and dumping the brushes into a four foot high 8x8 fortress off paint cans I set up so that at least it's an enclosed organized pile of thousands of paint brushes instead of just a pile of thousands of paint brushes thanks for watching subscribe for three videos a day
