an ambulance but the pain he's in right now is we don't have any other options you don't [Music] I'm talking much times of pain people that man I'm really worried for you I see he's uh he's a tough guy and he was in in a lot of pain when he left uncle and broken two ribs punch it bond all off guys it's Chris oh dude but he's had an x-ray and how is this Roy oh I've got a punctured lung aha he does have a punctured lung oh-ho he's got a punctured lung what's that mean well I don't know that the the ribs are broken and then it goes in ordinary [ __ ] this tiny little there's a tiny little one yeah laughs is it hurts a lot coughs laughs nice part breathe mate I'm kind of glad it's this bad because something I can justify me carrying on like that you know she had it going up there and they said it was just bruising I wouldn't let him back in the tower anyway but uh so I guess broken ribs and a punctured lung is a good enough reason to carry on what Toby was taking out one of surfing's ultimate challenges towing into his third wife Toby catches an edge he sucked over four first into the ring in a split-second his neck is broken rescued by the jet ski he lies motionless fearing he may never walk again [Music] evacuates into the spinal unit of the Royal North Shore Hospital and two hours of emergency surgery miraculously his spinal cord wasn't seven four hours lie myself up perfectly for uh you know for a nice wave and just went straight out headfirst over my ward and they're all sense to suck me up upside down then I remember hearing the reef really vile in my head and I know I knew straight away little broke my neck here and then my toe pipe then came here no I'm not just screaming any myself breaking my neck or broke my neck and I was thinking about been a quadriplegic more anything I'm so I've just talked him through what to do the whole way pretty much so I was pretty lucky to have that spoiled training for mental health guard you know he hasn't faulted one beat the whole time except for when he talks about you know how much support there's been for everything everyone that's the only Tommy's yeah I never eat Thor's gonna deliver us it's pretty scary that you want people like a walk but uh yeah I guess it just it just makes me appreciate how good people up or just get pretty emotional when I think about it was a horror had just everyone this one my family my girlfriend Kobe will walk again whether he can ever return to lifeguarding is less certain you know I'm slowly getting back in the water and we've done some swimming training and building up my strength in the gym so I think I'm going really good every time you improve a little bit you just want to do more and more no I'm not stupid I'm not gonna injure myself in the process but I guess you just do was whatever your body can do like use if you can do something you'll do it you know
