The Most Difficult Rescue I Ever Had!

so we got a call for a jeep wrangler that's stuck at the bottom of the sand chute down in the virgin river he says he's not only at the bottom of the sand shoot which is bad enough but he's also buried in the river so or in some sand by the river in the willows he's looking for another way out so we're going to go down there and get him unstuck and then we're going to spend some time helping him get back up the sand chute ed's not going to be with us today because he is headed down to his claim in california to look for some gold so we wish him luck and hopefully we find some left today so what makes me the most nervous about this is i know i have climbed out of here i don't know that i can climb out of here today all right they're in those wheels [Music] good afternoon [Music] i'm actually gonna put him in here i'm not sure exactly how much i have in here but we're going lower what's the prediction oh we're getting out let's see how many tries i think there's gonna be around eight eight tries [Music] we're on the ragged edge of getting out of here so i'm gonna apply every trick i know [Music] [Music] oh um we just about didn't do that i gotta cool my radiator down [Music] you doing okay yep it's a hard hill it's like you climb two feet and think four [Music] um we're going to want to hook to the right front of that so we don't pull it over this way any more than we have to one thing about a recovery like this this time of day i have a tendency to get like really focused on the job and forget about other things but it is really hot right now and i had to remind myself and remind the rest of the crew to just work slow be patient um don't over extend yourself because this is uh this can be bad [Music] now bound up a little goofy okay you're going to want to follow the rope more than not obviously you're going to want to go around that so when you get out here you'll get more traction so you're basically going to be turning your tires the whole [Music] you time not make it to your birthday party though it's your birthday it's your birthday you can dance if you want to just keep going down [Music] [Music] someone should make another road out from the bottom of this thing so the plan is did you already hear the plan we've got eric coming with some cable extensions we're gonna go right up there come off this the angle is just just can't get around this corner okay that little flat jaunt that we got right there i'll take the two blues they're traversing down this sand cliff and we're gonna hook up the last 80 feet of rope hopefully will be enough and we'll get it get it pulled straighter and then we'll be able to get it out [Music] okay so he was down there in the willows got him out of there and every other time a vehicle that capable has made it around the corner but this is the worst conditions i've ever been in my jeep wouldn't do it [Music] ah [Music] just kind of rotate comes right up on don't drive down the chute [Music] i think you might be down with the [Music] bedrock [Music] oh god [Music] i'm spinning the tire the wheel is spinning inside the tire [Music] [Music] okay we're going to try to just get you clear up to that flat spot we're going to go clear passage so you can back up [Music] so [Music] so the power steering pump shot boiled all the power steering fluid out it's done i think the alternator's wounded probably one of the diodes in the rectifier burned up the axle joint on the left front wheel is squawking like crazy and i've popped three tires off the bead had to pop them back on the last one didn't quite get off the beat i heard it leaking and i put some air in it so that's how my night's going it was my day a little while ago do you want to come to my shop and air your tires up okay that'll be easier than trying to put corners in a maverick [Music] hear it squeaking noise
