Nearly impossible recovery on the dry wash trail.

so we got a call for a jeep a grand cherokee that's stuck on a trail up on smith's mesa they uh broke the upper link on the rear differential so we're gonna take a welder up there and see if we can do a trail fix and get them on their way so i called my buddy paul from fab rats told him to bring his toyota down and his welder and we're going to go up there and see if we can get it done so what i'm doing now is i'm going to cut some brackets that i have to imagine what we might need to trust this to trust this rear end and see if we can get a mount up for the the top arm the upper arm on the three link so we're gonna just kind of guess what we need and hopefully it'll be close enough that up there on the trail we'll be able to get it done let me show you what we got okay he says we can't get in front of him did you put did you bring a piece like a quarter by four inch strap or something we can wrap the top with let's look at that build some towers oh yeah we can get across the top of easy if we got a piece of flat strap we can roll it right up over and maybe wrap something around and weld it to it if i've got that much material but i definitely haven't well no i'm saying pull it get the pressure off this and then high lift the back of this and then it's under a lot of pressure it slid 30 feet from yeah it's at now under a serious amount the bottom links are holding there well yeah but i'm just saying after we'll get the yeah we get the rope on it just to hold it i'm going to come forward and jump up over that bigger off basically so i got more holes in my truck yeah you side to side when we let it down they look like they're decent good enough to get in place don't remove that rock from behind that tire oh i where it's about right we're getting close this is about the craziest thing you've done today yeah i think so longer than a day gonna have to start eating goat food all right it's in place now let's start uh figuring out you got flashstrap right not very much of it i just got those two towers that i built and then we can if you want to weld those on he's junking the axle so just weld well yeah i'm thinking if we come off of here up to that on both sides yeah i think i've got enough to do what you just said okay all right we need i'm i'm just going to start getting you materials if you want to set your welder up since you know how to do that i'll get it stretched up here and we'll if you can imagine it there's a very very small chance that there's something similar here [Music] right there basically this will work you promise not to get me i can hold this pretty you'll hold it right there i can tack it is this precarious yes i got accused of making that word up [Music] well we're just waiting for paul to get done with his welding things are going good a lot better than when we rolled up over that hill and saw it we're like fabricating now to the other side so so [Music] what [Music] okay are we ready for me to drive what's pilot this thing down to the bottom and see if uh let's see if we can't get it out of here i certainly didn't want to do this in the dark but here we are oh sweat we'll have to hook on probably right landing right there okay i'll got him i thought i found my first baby squirkin that's cool i think it's uh i think it's better for him to drive up this oh yeah way but try to figure out how to get around it okay nice and slow you need to go a little bit this way okay right there i'll watch it right there don't spin just let him pull you okay you got it turn back this way now right there perfect kind of sucks man okay thanks man one second you're gonna run over the rope right here well that stopped us so we got to go back to the shop and get a spare well jamie's going to be here any second [Music] got it ty is bigger than you jamie here i'll treat you hmm dude i definitely don't see i don't see anything on the sidewall oh look i knocked the valve stem out of it that's good news and jamie was kind enough to drive me up here so we got done with this job about midnight but then i had to go back and uh get my jeep because it lost the tire had to take a spare tire out there to it uh turns out a stick could or something i don't know what had happened the valve stem something wiped the valve stem out so something wiped the valve stem out that's what happened which is weird because they're tucked away in the rim so i'm gonna put a link in the description to paul's channel fab rats where he picked up that welder from the dump and refurbished it about two or three weeks ago so go
