appliance that was made for playing back sound that was recorded onto records if you want to turn on a gramophone you need to turn the handle to wind up its spring the spring makes the record spin then a needle is placed on top of the record and as it moves through the groove on the record it shakes a little which makes a diaphragm a sort of mini drum skin start to vibrate the Big Horn of the gramophone then makes the sound louder and we hear a voice or music the most amazing thing is that a gramophone doesn't have an electric motor or any electronic that's right you don't need electricity for a gramophone to playback the sound that's recorded on a record that's because a gramophone is an entirely mechanical wonder if you want to know there is a gramophone in the office of Tom Thomas's really traveling there are some people who say that they've seen alien spaceships and that they look like flying saucers there are even some people who say they've actually made contact with aliens but personally I'm sure it's just their fantasy and science hasn't been able to prove any of these stories either the one story that makes me laugh harder than all of the rest comes from a guy who claims that he saw aliens with his own eyes can you believe it he said that there was a group of tiny aliens that looked like humans with glowing hair it seems to me that this guy just happened to spot a few fixies who weren't able to hide from him in time [Music] it's ready aliens are out there flying buggy earth Oh see this plate get hungry and come for food aliens don't need a plate like this silly when they've got plates the plane flying saucers you're both silly this thing isn't a plate at all it's an antenna antenna antennas help people receive radio signals they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes like this this to pick up a signal that's very weak powerful antennas that are shaped like large dishes weren't the best of all when radio waves hit the dish the waves all bounce off with it and gather together into one point this makes the signals stronger and clearer the most powerful dish antennas can even pick up signals from outer space No you'll burn yourself don't treat energy you're wondering it's very simple a fixies entire life is connected with devices vixy's not only live inside of devices but they keep care of them and help them live longer and in return for their help these devices share part of their energy with the Pixies so there you go the fixies help devices and devices help the fixies yes we fix ease and machines have a symbiotic relationship so we don't eat leftovers like closes cuz we're fixes [Music] how's it possible that a big boy likes you doesn't know how to make any food for himself I'm able to cook but I'm not allowed to turn on the it's not hard all you gotta do is add hot water and I'm allowed to turn on the kettle stop and check if there's water in there if there's none you can burn out the kettle it's got enough then you can turn it on hey tell me how does the panel turn off I mean how does it know when the water is hot enough inside of an electric kettle there's a heater hidden underneath this bottom when you turn on the kettle the heater warms up the water until it boils and the boiling water gives off see that heats up a special metal plate at the top of the kettle the heat causes the metal plate to bend and that turns off the switch so you could say that an electric kettle feels when the water's boiling okay now I understand hey why do you need three bowls you don't need to make any oatmeal for us it's not than air it floats upward did you know that hot air is lighter than cold air well it is and that means if you warm up the air in a balloon it will float up hot air balloons use special gas burners to heat up the air inside of them so they will get lighter and the bigger the balloon the more people it can take up into the air I know what you're saying but where do we get a burner you think fixies punches of bristles into them and there you go the toothbrush and here's what I need to tell you all as a fixing that is as a master repairing you need to make sure to brush your teeth often especially after eating or you'll be getting them repaired often at the dentist then what's wrong with it you're not gonna believe it but the battery died that's all I know what to do I'll put in new electricity when light hits them sheets that are made out of these materials are called photoelectric cells by connecting a few of these photoelectric cells together you can build a solar battery a solar battery and a calculator sits behind a small clear window and when light hits the solar battery it produces the electricity that powers the calculator I [Music] don't see a little window anywhere on here that's because you covered out the window with the sticker for some reason the reason is that it looks great good job it looks really great but I can't work now well farewell sticker I can't get it off then just leave it alone go ahead use all the problems without the calculator then I'll be the ones like can you like any who did you forget we're the fixes and we have to fix oil or coal unfortunately these batteries aren't very powerful a calculator can get enough energy from a small little battery but in order to power a whole city with solar energy you need to have power plants with huge fields full of solar batteries and of course it's best to build these plants where the Sun shines bright and long like out in the desert by the way in outer space the Sun shines very brightly and it's never blocked by clouds that's why all of the vehicles and satellites in space use solar energy for power including the International Space Station or astronauts from different countries work together Tom Thomas what you guys all done haha now he will solve your problems on the calculator but I already solved them on paper before he peels off the sticker oh that's totally buildings when someone steps into an elevator and presses a button the elevators electrical engine starts up it pulls the cable that is attached to the elevator cabin and the elevator goes to the desired floor the cable hangs over a wheel and it usually has a heavy counterbalancing weight attached to the other end of it this counterweight balances the elevator and helps the electric motor do the right way to behave yourself inside of an elevator first of all small children should never get into an elevator by themselves they should only go in with their parents or other adults they know well when getting on to an elevator the adults should always enter first and then the child when it's trying to get out it's the other way around first the child leaves and then the adult if you are taking a dog onto an elevator make sure its tail and leash are completely inside so they don't get stuck in the door and there's one more thing if the elevator suddenly stops for some unknown reason don't try to break out of it yourself press the button that calls the emergency operator and wait for help from the elevator repairmen or the fixes turn it on they 60 that was quick now we'll make it what I need to tell you all as a fixing that is as a master repairman you need to make sure to brush your teeth often especially after eating or you'll be getting them repaired often at the dentist and what's wrong with it you're not gonna believe it but the battery died that's all I know what to do I'll put in new ones you dad turned the toothbrush on looks like everything's fine it's working breaks at some point well nothing seems to ever break inside of this house that's because we take such good care of it no masya it's boring with no real work to do we should move somewhere else when fixies graduate from school they must choose the place where they want to work some will work at factories and some on ships and some in theaters and some in hospitals - vixy's are needed everywhere now fixie families with children like to choose places that are a bit quieter usually there was civil inside of people's houses it was not too noisy there like in a factory but there's no plenty of work to do they did check on appliances like computers vacuum cleaners telephones irons and washing machines and things he's always try their best they just love being busy with work and so if there's nothing broken in the house 60 families will move to a new place where there's much more work to be done No did you hear that I don't wanna move anywhere let's think about the kids dear they've got grains vegetables and vitamins these kinds of foods give pets a well-balanced diet and there's no need to cook them they're all ready to eat just pour them in a bowl and your dog will be happy and so will your cat and your bird and your fish - just be careful not to mix them up because what's good for a fish isn't good for a dog each animal needs its own special food what's wrong what's wrong you beautiful patterns ah it's because pieces of multicolored glass are tumbling around in there and it's also because it has mirrors inside usually there are three of them and they're raised facing each other that way each piece of glass makes many many reflections that create the kaleidoscopes beautiful symmetrical patterns by the way you can put just about anything you want inside a kaleidoscope and each different thing makes its own special pattern yes there are all kinds of kaleidoscopes some with buttons inside some with flowers and even some that are filled with insects once a very rich man had a kaleidoscope made with precious stones inside yeah it probably wouldn't have been nearly as beautiful if he had just filled it up with money come Tony's looking sad Tuukka Rask oh I already saw it it's pirates it's not about pirate we changed it come on look and see Wow your life is a lot hey what did you put in there a few pieces of the ball that you smashed it's even better for Christmas isn't it mm-hmm that didn't work at all Merry Christmas don't even ask us that I've got it Tom Thomas what look inside the kaleidoscope again I don't want to I'm telling you you've got you We just found this one this month and I was suprised how well they explain how common household items work and how to fix them in a relatable way for the kiddos.

The story is great, the cast of characters are great, theme song is catchy, and theyre teaching!
