Ryan learns Easy DIY Science Experiment for Kids with how to make a homemade Volcano

hey guys today we're doing the baking soda and vinegar science experiment but first pretend this is a volcano first you're gonna need some baking soda so we have to put it into the funnel inside your water bottle whoa okay next you're gonna put food coloring into your vinegar and I choose red a little bit more okay guys get ready for an experiment for help oh that was so cool that was really fun but I wish it was a volcano gosh Ryan did you know that you can make them okay you know on paper course your king uncle make one for you I'm gonna build a lego robot it's gonna be my best friend all I need is the last piece for the head and what are you doing here we got a new science experiment for Ryan it's gonna be giant you Cana a giant volcano whoa what do we need for that first thing we will need joy box a giant box there's definitely one around here let's see Oh Oh over there by combo hey combo the big box oh you got it free [Music] mm perfect this place doesn't seem too familiar what's that looks like there's a volcano nearby let's go investigate whoa this is cute and it is gonna be the perfect base for our volcano don't you think Pat where did that go oh well let's get started the first thing we need to do is cut this box down so I finished marking my line where we need to cut it's about four inches high which I think it's gonna be a good height to keep all the lava inside so now all we need to do is cut and once we cut the box it should look like and there it is that is the perfect size for our base look how big it is now to make sure that our face is good and strong we're gonna use duct tape [Music] well the box looks great but how do I build a volcano oh there you are I just got back from gathering research data first we're gonna meet me a bottle and a cup I think we can use this for the center of our volcano precisely so this bottle is gonna be perfect put all of our ingredients in for the lava but I think it's a little too short that's why we have this Cup I think that might be a little too tall so we can work on this whoo that is the perfect maybe we should glue it in place okay just a little bit more glue and I think that should do it I don't think it's going anywhere okay our bottles not going anywhere but we don't need this cap it doesn't really look like a volcano we need something I don't know what we have to build the body I know what'll work okay yep trash a great idea so we're making the shape of our volcano it's kind of a mess right now so we're gonna use tape to hold all of this together now to form the body of the volcano with some tape [Music] whoa hey whoa Wow Peggy found a lot of paper this is gonna be perfect so the first thing that we need to do to start paper mache tting this giant volcano is we need to take all of this paper and tear it into pieces that we can actually use so think about like a bat but we're gonna need a lot this guy is very big so you pick a great job this is a lot of paper what else me ah well to make paper mache we need paper which we already have and then we need a bowl some water and the most important part glue so this glue is way too thick so the first thing we're gonna do is add glue then we're gonna add water and stir it all together to try to thin it out so we can put it on our paper now all we do is stir or agitate agitate agitate and when you're done it should look something like this now we're all ready for the fun part it's gonna be a little messy so if you're wearing sleeves roll them up first yet don't get in the glue and then you just clean off all the extra make sure the paper is good and kind of soft and then you just slap it on the volcano [Music] why me [Music] now the hardest part we have to wait for this to dry the volcano will take a while to dry let's go wash your hands uh yeah I'm very sticky so we'll meet back here later yep I'm gonna go gather more recent one day later whoa it looks so good and it's really dry let's see it's definitely hard and sturdy ready for paint but we're ice pack pack pack oh yeah I made a real volcano mm I think we need to use a great paint well we can definitely make grape Eck but just make sure you stay safe okay be careful now grey we don't actually have but we can make it with black and whites all right Peck uh how do these grades look over three oh right well it's a big volcano we're gonna use a big brush and let's get started [Music] all right we just finished oh this painting has volcano is huge it took forever Peck how does it look it kind of looks just like a mountain it could use some love some lava oh yeah it's getting a little hot over you okay well we'll see you in a bit Peck now I have a great idea for the lava what better than hot glue I mean it kind of looks like lava right baby alright let's see so we're gonna try to build it up and see if we can get it to look like some big giant lava trails oh great now we're gonna use some orange and some yellow to give this lava some color oh just a little bit more lava paint and I think I hear pack maybe just in time oh hi Peck so we just finished our volcano and what do you think about it I think our root canals come looks like the real deal huh looks like the one I saw earlier let's teleport it too right yeah the last thing we have to do is to get this on to our teleport ater potater so let's just lift this guy I'm just kidding it's paper mache it's really lightweight and after rain we go [Music] Wow thank you so much this paper ball peanuts so cool super cool huh I'm gonna bring it outside and then I'm going blue day let's go first thing baking soda oh okay guys so let's pour in the vinegar whoa whoa there's so much green [Music] I wonder with these - whoa I wonder have these roommate hey Ryan you know you can make rock can you want me to show you how sure let's go okay I got this maybe just a pinch of sugar hey Hank what you doing oh gosh definitely not eating shouldn't huh huh this looks pretty cool what you got going on making some rock candy for Ryan oh you know the best thing about rock candy it's actually really easy to make and it's only two main ingredients sugar and water pink sugar sugar sugar sugar really likes candy let's get started and it looks like juice which is cool and it's the best they told someone to stick so it seems the great thing that we're gonna do is build a very Center for a rock candy now we are gonna use these paper sticks hmm paper sticks she don't eat the paper stick it's kind of like what would be in the center of a lollipop we're gonna take the stick we're gonna dip it in water like this what we need sugar to definitely need some sugar so let's get some sugar on a plate perfect yay sugar wahoo sugar sugar sugar sugar there's gonna be a lot of that now that we have our stick all nice and wet we're gonna roll it around get some sugar on year and it should look something felt like that which this will give our rock crystals plenty of stuff to grow on now that we have all of our sticks coated in sugar we're just gonna set them aside and let them dry so we can use them later now we can commence with the creation of our rock candy that's right Peck maybe I should just take this sugar away and put it over here so the first thing we're gonna do is add water we are gonna add 1 cup of water which all I could find was a half cup measuring cup so we need 2 of them then we're gonna turn on our cooktop and we're gonna turn it on boil so we can get it cooking oh now we're going to add our sugar we're going to slowly mix it we're gonna try to use about 2/3 cup but we have to make sure it dissolves fully in the water we have a bowl of sugar water now what are those yours for well that is a good question Peck we are gonna use all these different jars to grow our individual rock candies now we don't need the lid because this is actually gonna go in here just like that and grow all of our crystals what about the color I want you rainbow well Peck why do you think I have all this food color green here for our rock candy we're gonna make red orange green blue purple and I think I'm gonna leave the last one clear because I just want to see what the regular rock candy looks like red lycra tighten cozy super red orange like no he's so crazy green like us cuz he's like super shoo purple 4-pack propose the best see-through life it goes no I'm kind of scared really something moving on the last thing that we have to do to make our rock candy is we just take the centerpiece our sugar sticks and then we just put them right in the center and wait we need to hold it in place and well I don't have six arms and if I let it go it's gonna it's gonna fall and oh don't worry Bri I know we can use okay Peck hurry be right back oh hey sure hope it gets here soon I'm getting so tired hey that is much better it was a success now we can start making the King oh yeah how long do we have to wait like five minutes huh oh I mean ten minutes thirty minutes it's gonna be more like five days but but that's like 7,200 minutes okay I'm just gonna go don't worry Peck you got this I'll see you in five days bye well since we're just waiting here how about we take a look at the science behind rock candy so water and sugar are both molecules now when we heat up the water the water molecules and then we're left with all this space that we can add a lot of sugar to hey bring in the sugar [Music] great job pets now that we have Oh sugar this is called a super saturated solution as our solution cools the sugar begins to crystallize and these crystals form rock candy speaking of rock candy I think ours is ready let's go candy oh [Music] whoa how's it been 7,200 minutes it has which is why I'm here it's candy time candy candy candy yeah but but how are we gonna get the candy out you're right Peck these are stuck in pretty good but I think we can use this regular plain-jane spoon - maybe chisel it out so we need to break the top layer Oh oh my goodness that is a lot of sugar crystals whoa there we go oh man it is all sugary and sticky and yummy we definitely need this to Joyce so we're gonna use this cup to let our rock candy dry so it collects oh there's really sticky stuff and we don't make a mess everywhere oh wow it looks so tasty and crunchy I can't wait to try some hmm wait a second that blue one looks broken what happened well Peck the stick got stuck in the jar when I went to pull it out and that's because it was a little too close to the bottom and all these crystals grew around it okay if I try some of the candy now I've been so patient and helpful oh we can definitely eat all of this rock candy as soon as address the candies ready my patience played me Peter yeah sure good job back now is the best part we get to taste test Oh shiny look all those crystals they are so yummy and shiny the best part mmm thousand world garden hmm this is so good it's filling me with energy [Music] whoa and the best part about this is it's so simple to make you can make it out with two it just takes a little bit takes a little while yeah I'm gonna hate dress huh maybe it maybe well we'll save those for later Peck okay okay guys I can't bleep first Nick time a plate of fruit oh okay well I like carrots they're good for your eyes well I'm gonna pick grapes okay well I like peach there's one left maybe we can ask peck peck hey Ben we need your help we headed to the side who's gonna get the last Apple it's probably gonna be me the West Apple hmm I have an idea I will build a rock-paper-scissors machine for you and then the winner okay good I can't wait to see how this machine are talking about is gonna look like whoa with this color treated this thing has gotta be worth so much money [Music] we got another experiment to fill wait what about an experiment it's time to build the rock-paper-scissors machine paper rock scissors machine hmm it's rock paper scissors but yeah do you know how to build one hmm well paper rock scissors machine could be pretty cool but we're gonna need a lot of materials so we're gonna need things like cardboard glue rubber bands sticks and straight lines are always fun so we definitely need a ruler it's a really long list of stuff here are we gonna get all this from oh that's everything we need that's convenient yeah I got all the stuff haha no what do we do oh great John Peck not to get started we're gonna use this box look at that later now we're gonna cut up our cardboard which will give us e something flat like this and with this we're going to trace and cut out all of our shapes first we're gonna measure and draw oh the pieces that make up the outside of our machine once we finish that we've to drop all of the little ones that go on the inside now it's time to punch out all our parts let's see pink pink well let's start gluing the pieces down hmm you will meet an adult's help for this part it looks really good but how we need the little spinny to be thingies oh those are called the real but you know I think I have the perfect idea for the spinning tippy thingies I think we could use this roll of paper towels it's already pretty much shaped like it but can I get all these paper towels on we want our reels to be the exact same size so we're gonna measure very carefully and we're gonna make sure we cut straight oh now that that's done we just have to make our circles I found this cap lying around and it's the perfect size oops all right well we have all four of our circles now we just have to put them in here and then we're just gonna glue it into place that looks good and dry it's nice and strong but we need something to help our reel spin like that I have the perfect idea we're gonna use this really pretty border paper we're gonna wrap it around like this and I think that's gonna help a lot let's get started we need to measure and cut our border paper once we cut it nice and straight then all we have to do is wrap it around our reel and glue it in place we have to glue off the orange gears so they can become extra sturdy huh oh right now everything is nice and dry our fingers aren't sticking to it it's nice and hard we're gonna take our stick and we're gonna try our best to get it all the way through now we just set it in place in our machine put the other side here to hold it in and we just glue this guy together now this part can be very tricky you need to leave enough space for your wheels to spin but not too much space or they'll fall off so after everything is good into place you should be able to do something like this oh yes soon my plants will be complete I'll be finally able to win it rock-paper-scissors generations our family has only been able to throw paper but with your smart speck I think you'll be the one to be able to change your fate looks like all the glue is dry and it's spinning great looks like it could use a lever to help make it spin because giant popsicle sticks are gonna work great thanks to peg haha yeah feel free to stop on by pegs premium popsicle see we some discount popsicles really right yeah yeah the only thing about these popsicle sticks are they're a little boring I think we need to add some color Oh magic pink now we're gonna make the part that spins the real all we need is a circle cut into four pieces and then we're gonna make it 3d kinda like a piece of pie once we have that all hot glued and dried we're gonna put the same border paper that we put on our reels once we get that glued into place we're gonna stiffen it with super glue and it should look something like this whoo this looks complicated whoa and that's why you have an adult speck ah all right pecs so we got our levers in place we use just little sticks to hold them in place now is gonna be the tricky part we're gonna have to attach these little tiny gears to the lever so when you pick the lever up it spins the reel like that now this rubber band has a very important job and our machine wouldn't work without it it puts a lot of tension on the lever when you pull it down so when you let it go it spins the real livers are in place if they're working yay what's next oh well all we have left to do is just build the cover conveniently I have it all drawn out here so we just got to pop it out and here we go now this one has a lot of holes in it so we gotta punch him out there you go so now that we have our cover put on we can just put this whole thing to get wait a second before we can put the cover on we have to turn this into paper-rock-scissors that's where these guys come in handy we've got rock paper and scissors so we're just gonna glue them on like this the most important part about this duct is to make sure that your hands are facing each other otherwise are you playing now we're just gonna glue the outside pieces of our machine and the front cover wow it's really coming together and we can not forget rock paper and scissors [Music] the rock-paper-scissors machine is complete now let's decorate some decorations my favorite part there it is we have red versus blue boom hang on before we give it to Ryan I should um okay well good luck Peck what is this is your rock-paper-scissors machine yeah you know I challenge you Daniel Oh tire losing well let's go let's go me paper and it's me scissors and I will defeat you paper oh man good job pac-man this machine is really cool yeah but I gotta send it to Ryan bye okay well bye pack I hope her ease up and really want that Apple yeah whoa this is a rough
