wand i don't believe you you just wait and you wish is the one's command check it out today i want my school to be closed golden wish tom thomas your teacher from school just gave me a call she said your school has totally disappeared how hard so i'm not going to school well how instead of school we'll go to the park hooray real magic oh it's so great no there's no magic they're only illusions i don't know what illusions are it's when what we think we're seeing is not what is actually happening have you ever seen a magician pull a rabbit out of an empty hat do you think it's magic no it is only an illusion in reality the rabbit's hidden inside the table that the magician puts his hat on the lid of the hat is made with a secret hatch and when the magician puts his arm inside the hat he grabs the rabbit from the table below and ta-da how every magic trick works may be a secret but every illusion does have an explanation i'm telling you this one's totally magical right now i can make a rabbit appear out of this trash can for you golden wish tadish that wasn't the idea looks like a dog to me wait one more time golden wish [Music] golden wish tadish thomas will you cut it out one chusaka was already enough for us and now there's three hey tom thomas please tell your rabbits that they can stop barking so loudly shame on you for attacking helpless little kids wait i'll make you bigger now golden wish trish [Music] what you scared so you're only brave enough to chase little kids around wow i'm huge i'm as huge as tom thomas i'm huge oh no like be careful how can you live being this tall it's so inconvenient and i thought it was tough when you were so tiny tom thomas are you ready hey why do we have three dogs all of a sudden oh my word no [Applause] why are you screaming i was dreaming that someone had given me a magic wand and then i had to make it big see and and my mom saw you that's awful that would have made me scream i wish i had a magic wand of my very own we fixies aren't ones to believe in magic but we do believe in what humans can do because humans often work wonders for ages flying in the sky seem to be an impossible dream but today anyone can take off to the sky in an airplane it used to be that humans thought that only magic could take them to the moon but now astronauts have already walked on its surface in fairy tales people were able to see and talk to each other through a magic mirror but today we have the internet and telephones we can use refrigerators televisions automobiles computers there are so many things that humans have created wondrous things that they used to only be able to dream about like a miracle from a fairy tale [Music] a magic wand why do you need it first i'd skip school today tom thomas are you ready i told you we're going to the park and what about school i'll skip it hmm good joke could this be a dream too no it's just that today is sunday and that's the magic of it [Music] they take care of our machines irons phones and toasters and tv screens even roller coasters without them clock stop ticking without them lights go out but if you meet up [Music] the piggy bank [Music] tom thomas why are you throwing away your money that's not what i'm doing i'm storing it this is a piggy bank oh here's another coin i don't like it snout that's one very suspicious looking pig are you positive your money safe with her don't worry whatever i put into my bank here is not getting back out this piggy bank won't give up a cent you greedy piggy come on nolick simka must have taught you about how banks work humans came up with the idea of piggy banks because they wanted a good place to save their coins for storing lots of money people use a safe a large metal box with a very strong lock now that kind of piggy banks almost impossible to break open the biggest safes are in bed banks use them to store their customers money and other valuables there are even safes and banks that are whole rooms you'd need an awful lot of change to fill up one of these piggy banks so why are you saving up all this money for roller skates how much more do you need to save i don't know i can't see if there's enough in there then just go and open it but there's no way to do that the only way is to smash it real hard so smash it yeah forget it i have nothing to put my money into but what if there's already enough for roller skates and what if there's not oh right then i guess i'll count your money for you [Music] tadish oh whoa tom thomas you've got a fortune in here [Music] there are many different kinds of money and they're not just coins either long ago people paint each other with shells and squirrel skins and even parrot feathers and of course metal coins are more convenient than any of those things and paper money is even more convenient than coins one piece of paper can be worth as much as a hundred coins or even a thousand all that needs to be done is to print more zeros on it and that's all today humans can pay for almost anything without paper money or coins whatsoever if you have enough money in the bank you can just walk into a store give the cashier your bank card and take your purchase home with you without handing over any money the bank knows how much money you spend and they pay the store for you later it's so convenient so will you count them here we go one coin and two coins wait no lick what one coin two coins what are you counting you have to add together all of the different numbers huh you should have told me that before i never learned how to yeah that's what i figured come on out [Music] what can i do what if you try stacking the coins so they're like stairs that's what i'm already doing huh why don't you try tilting the piggy bank over hang on stop i'm getting buried put it back the way it was before this is worse ah just put the pig down no look hang in there please i'll get some thread and lower it down to you [Music] i can't get a hold of it it's too far away hey tom thomas smash the piggy bank what just smash your piggy bank but i like it and what you don't like me of course i like you well who do you like more [Music] you're my friend aren't you of course then smash the piggy bank will you okay knowledge i'm gonna do it [Music] no are you okay i'm okay thank you tom thomas thank you my friend no problem at least now you can count up how much money you have nah there's no reason to do it there's no way it's enough for roller skates you sure what a shame but now you've got all of this money here to buy a piggy bank that's totally brand new [Music] it's all inside your head you really [Music] the key card [Music] well professor you genius your kettle's back in oh why thank you i've been longing for a cup of tea yes there's no tea left in here [Music] then i'll go ask lisa if she has some look professor you genius you forgot the key [Music] the key don't close the door cinca you must be joking that's a key this is nothing but a plastic card but it is a special kind it's called a key card to open up the combination lock you need to enter a code in the correct order that means if you can't remember the code you can't open the lock but if the lock uses a key card there isn't any code to memorize because the code is held inside the card's memory and the lock can read the code from the card of course key cards don't work with any lock they have to be smart blocks that are able to read electronic codes when the smart lock reads the correct code it opens right up [Music] elisa do we have any tea here of course professor you genius wonderful i'll take one bag then oh i left my key inside the lab can i borrow yours just don't forget to give it back of course i'll give it back come on elisa i got myself a tea bag professor you genius the water's boiling fantastic wait a second ah oh no i was supposed to give something back to elisa why don't you go and ask her right i'll be right back [Music] professor you genius that's card number two now [Music] elisa i promised you something didn't i yes the key you said you'd return it yeah sure let me get it just a sec oh oh i locked it in the lab it's terrible how will you ever get back into the laboratory now you see there is one way but it's a secret would you mind leaving for a couple of minutes colleague professor can you do me a little favor the key i think i left it on the table yeah right it's true so how do we solve this i need to think about it what's there to think about we just have to go and push it under the door you think you can do it yeah it's time to get to work hey what's going on oh were you just calling for me yeah uh no lisa not for you it's so heavy do you know where digit ran off too fidget's off somewhere thinking he's always doing that when it's time to work ugh hard to port hard to starboard way to go nolik then who are you talking to actually oh what's that where what what was that come on let's try again yeah look do you see that that it's a telekinesis it's the power to transport things with your mind you are just astounding was that done with your mind too the door yeah sure you are a genius [Music] professor eugenius is a very talented scientist and a dear old friend of the fixies he always helps the fixies and the fixies are happy to help him too professor eugenius let the fixie set up their school right here at his laboratory it's hard to imagine a better place for a fixie school people from all over the city bring all sorts of things to the laboratory to be tested from computers phones and furniture to food and toys professor eugenius uses his expertise to check the quality of all these different things to help him carry out his experiment his laboratory is filled with a variety of tools and machines yes professor eugenius is a very smart man but he can be absent-minded lucky for him he's got us pixies around thanks for everything sliding the key card under the door that was simka's awesome idea but the door opened wide while the card was still on the floor that's strange there's nothing strange about it i don't want to open it i climbed in the lock that's all figured out how it worked and titty very clever that's a real tadish i guess that thinking before you go and fix something ought to be what we all study next [Music] they take care of our machines [Music] please don't let the secret [Music] the bee tom thomas hello how come you're eating jam straight from out of the jar because it tastes so good oh a bee [Music] shoe get out of here leave it alone it's just a plain old b well i was bitten by one of those plain old bees once don't do it go away you pests flies are pests these are very helpful and useful how can a bee ever help us out bees are hard workers they are constantly collecting nectar from flowers flying from flower to flower bees transport pollen on their bellies thanks to this process of pollination flowers produce fruit and seeds in other words bees help plants reproduce the bees use the nectar they collect to make that delicious sweet honey loved by kids of all ages and bee honey is not only delicious it's also nutritious so i'm still afraid of it what if it bites me bees don't bite by the way they sting [Music] [Music] well now i'm gonna show you don't the bee's the one who should be afraid you tyrant yeah you let it go tyrant why are you calling me names who's stopping her she can fly away if she wants we need to show her the way out well how here it'll be fly this way why don't you try going then what can i say [Music] don't move it'll sting you it doesn't want to sting both of you like to eat sweets you like eating jam and so does the bee why don't you carry your socket to the window go on fly no that's not gonna work you need to go and get more jam here little bee yum yum go on and fly you're free let her eat first don't be greedy i'm not being greedy if she eats she can make honey out of your jam long ago people could only collect honey by destroying the nests of wild bees and that went on until someone came up with the idea of taming those insects they started by leaving enough honey for the bees to survive through the winter people took care of bees in these hollows until they learned to build small houses for them called beehives and a town made of these bee houses is called an apiary bees live and work together in the beehives making honey while beekeepers take care of the bees and collect the honey these are real team players they tell each other where the best flowers grow do you know how they do it one of the bees does a dance and then the rest of the bees watch the dance and learn where they need to fly you poor thing tom thomas tired you out i told you there's nothing to be afraid of you see she's just so nice and kind i'm not afraid of her she wouldn't let me eat my jam that's all well now it's time for you to fly away whoa she's playing rough here i want to try and know it you're too little you'll have to grow to do this job whoa whoa whoa calm down now now let's fly hey cinco the windows back there i can see that without you [Music] so how can i get you to turn around cool hooray she's listening to me don't miss the window [Music] now so long honeybee [Music] tom thomas do you have any more of that jam left yeah what for bring it here we'll get more bees to fly how come what do you mean how come because it's my turn for a b ride [Music] i almost caught one yesterday but [Music] why are we going to the dishwasher again we have a busy day ahead of us and we all need to be charged up with energy i don't like charging myself up in the dishwasher then how about the microwave no lick or the kettle no thanks i don't like it when we go inside anything at all in that kitchen there's not one interesting thing in there and where's it interesting huh in the computer mafia will you let me get charged up in the computer the energy there is sweeter our diet has to be nutritious no lick not just delicious people don't eat just candy do they humans get energy from food while the fixies get their energy from appliances humans eat all sorts of foods and so do fixies they need the energy that comes from different devices getting charged up in a car makes a fixie faster in a computer smarter and then a clock more accurate to get a balanced energy diet fix these mustn't stay inside of one place all the time like a television it's healthier for us to move from one device to another [Music] good morning tom thomas what's the matter for breakfast i got cereal with milk mom says that milk is so healthy but i think it's just awful aha nola there you are go get charged right now i'm not going look at tom thomas he doesn't want to have breakfast either [Music] why don't you milk tastes awful to him tastes awful he just doesn't know how to drink it right look what we've got here what what a mixer [Music] a mixer is a kitchen appliance that's used to mix together different foods with a mixer you can make things like frosting sauces or an omelette but the most delicious thing you can make with a mixer is a milkshake it's easy just put some fruit syrup juice ice cream or anything else you'd like into a container and then add milk now use the mixer to stir it all up until it's smooth and creamy and that's it you've got yourself a milkshake [Music] guys what do we have for a milkshake we've got a jar of jelly will it work that'll work and strawberry jam that'll be great here's a banana i found some chocolate too and i found strawberry ice cream start up the mixer when you get up from your video when you get up from your bedroom [Music] there is still something you need indeed [Music] indeed [Music] a little milk sauce [Music] [Applause] [Music] that you need wow this mixer is cool isn't it you think we can make one more shake just one they were good sure if you want to oh where did all the milk go way to go looks like you drank all of it and i remember when you said how milk is awful i didn't know how to drink it right [Music] simka what in the world were you up to and what happened to knowledge just come i'll show you [Music] no lick here you are didn't you say that charging up in the kitchen is boring for you the mixer's not boring it gives you energy that's yummy delicious and [Music] are such nutritious creatures even when they're magnified it's hard to see their pictures they're tiny infinitesimal so small it makes you doubt but if you meet up they please [Music] the magic wand [Music] oh tom thomas how did you get here it was a piece of cake i just got this cool magic wand as a gift see wow there's no such thing as a magic wand i don't believe you you just wait and you wish is the one's command check it out today i want my school to be closed golden your teacher from school just gave me a call she said your school has totally disappeared how hard so i'm not going to school well that wasn't the idea looks like a dog to me wait one more time golden wish [Music] golden wish tom thomas will you cut it out one two soccer was already enough for us and now there's three [Music] hey tom thomas please tell your rabbits that they can stop barking so loudly shame on you for attacking helpless little kids wait i'll make you bigger now golden wish tadish [Music] what you scared so you're only brave enough to chase little kids around wow i'm huge i'm as huge as tom thomas i'm huge oh no like be careful [Music] how can you live being this tall it's so inconvenient and i thought it was tough when you were so tiny tom thomas are you ready hey why do we have three dogs all of a sudden oh my word no [Applause] why are you screaming i was dreaming that someone had given me a magic wand and then i had to make it big see and and my mom saw you that's awful that would have made me scream i wish i had a magic wand of my very own we fixies aren't ones to believe in magic but school i'll skip it hmm good joke could this be a dream too no it's just that today is sunday and that's the magic of it [Music] can you believe that fixies are such itty-bitty creatures even when they're magnified it's [Music] please don't let the secret [Music] the level tom thomas i'm really sorry the movie this weekend i have to cancel you do i need to go to africa for work i leave tomorrow oh cool you think i could go with you to africa can you even find it on the map africa here we go mm-hmm no you're still too little when you grow as tall as the top of africa then i'll take you with me here there [Music] tom thomas what you doing down there i want to know if i'm as tall as the top of africa or not well do you know your height okay then let's measure you and mark how tall you are you just need to hold the book all right [Music] simca uh how do we measure what's higher the top of africa or this line over here [Music] hmm [Music] it's a tough one we need a piece of flexible clear tubing oh i can get it for you i know where it is and we'll build a simple tool to find out the answer it's called a water level let's do an experiment first we'll pour water into two bottles a little bit more into one and a little less into the other now we'll connect them with a tube so that the water can flow between them you see the water flows and flows and then it stops it stops when there's the same amount of water inside of both bottles and if we do this with a simple tube it becomes a useful tool called a water level in which the water on both sides is always the same height i'm gonna watch the water level on this end all right be careful how you lift it or the water can get out what's going on the water inside the tube is even with the line there you go tom thomas where the water is right now is how tall you are and well it looks like tom thomas isn't quite tall enough for africa what if we hold the tube a little higher you can try if you want but the water's gonna stay where it is [Music] see the water level on your side always stays the same as on the other side uh i'm not getting that tall for a while yet and what if we just lower the map a little that wouldn't be honest but it would be clever there are a lot of great proverbs but my favorite one is measure twice cut once and to measure things right you need measuring tools the simplest one is a ruler with itself we can find out the length of an object a watch can tell us how much time is passed a speedometer shows us how fast we are moving like in a car or on a bike an electric meter keeps track of how much electricity we are using a decibel meter can tell us who is screaming or stomping louder and a beam compass is used to accurately measure the size of a coin or a hole we couldn't get by without wonderful tools like these if we didn't measure the things we are building carefully everything around us would just come loose fall apart oh dad dad look dad hmm that's strange looks like you are a little taller does that mean you'll take me with you yeah are you ready yay but everyone who goes to africa has to get vaccinated you're okay with that aren't you i need vaccinations to go are you sure yeah there's one against malaria ct fly crocodile bites all together there are 10 shots 10 shots yeah 10. oh dad you know i was joking after you left the room i moved the map down okay i see and i was joking about all those shots you need what you mean you don't need to get shots you gotta just not ten so how many nine of them there's no vaccination anywhere to stop a crocodile from biting you believe that fixies are such itty-bitty creatures even when they're magnified it's hard to see their features they're tiny infinitesimal so small it makes you doubt but if you meet [Music] the robot did i already tell you what i'm hoping you'll get me for my birthday present yes honey only a thousand times or so a robotizoid r 300 would just be the greatest with mega vision i want it i really do uh i do well tomorrow you'll find out but now it's time to sleep tom thomas wow that is one great present and we got tom thomas absolutely zero for his birthday uh we're just terrible friends so how does this robot work okay so let's give this a try shall we first we'll take a walk and how does he have any idea where the robot's going i can tell you one of the robots eyes is a video camera the robot sends the picture to the screen on the controller so the player can see where the robot is going yeah and that's just one thing they know how to do a robot is a smart machine that can do very difficult or dangerous work for humans with its strong metal arms a robot can move heavy objects or put together parts to build cars and other machines robots are often sent into outer space or to the bottom of the ocean to help scientists there are also robots that can understand what people are saying and robots that can talk and even make jokes just like people i've got it now let's turn you around [Music] ah what was that uh look you know he destroyed him no stop you were playing with that right you think tom will notice oh i know what you're doing all night i'm off to bed i'll get him to work i'll stay up until i do cinka let's try it no we're gonna need some help when your tv has broken when your cell phone has croaked your laptop fairly working the kettle's had a stroke [Music] is our work will never end appliances are fickle they need a loyal friend at morning noon and midnight every single [Music] will be all day and night we fix things right one two three inside will be all day and night we fix things right we live to keep on working and work for us is fun so we'll just keep on working [Music] if you look when it's dark you might just see us race around like multi-color sparks one two three [Music] [Music] we fix things right [Music] all day wow you got it we need to hide robotizoid r300 i can't believe it well happy birthday to you tom thomas i'm sorry tom thomas last night your robot you know i broke it dad it works perfectly don't you see i'm so proud of you you fixed it [Music] i couldn't fix it at all i tried everything oh you want to tell me that the robot fixed itself what a joker [Music] mom dad thanks so much i love it and how about thanking us i should have known it was you who fixed the robot happy birthday happy birthday [Music] don't [Music] the piggy bank [Music] tom thomas why are you throwing away your money that's not what i'm doing i'm storing it this is a piggy bank oh here's another coin i don't like it snout that's one very suspicious looking pig are you positive you're money safe with her don't worry whatever i put into my bank here is not getting back out this piggy bank won't give up a cent you greedy piggy come on nolick simka must have taught you about how banks work humans came up with the idea of piggy banks because they wanted a good place to save their coins for storing lots of money people bank that's totally brand new even when they're magnified it's hard to see their pictures they're tiny infinitesimal so small it makes you doubt but if you meet up they take care of our machines irons phones and toasters and tv screens even roller coasters without them ticking without them lights go out but if you need to fix [Music] the dvd [Music] get away from here so where did it go oh here it is [Music] hey there tom thomas so what's on the desk hi there nolick hi there simka it's a cartoon about gulliver in the land of lillypoo my friend jeannie let me borrow it i have it till tomorrow and what's the story about well it's about this guy who gets shipwrecked where people are just so teeny teeny tiny fixies you mean no not fixies lilliputians uh-huh you know what simka i think that you fix these might have come from those little fusions no way our grandpa told us a completely different story of the pixies when something is very well made then the saying goes that it was made with just a little bit of salt in old times craftsmen made things to last and in each appliance they would leave just a little piece of their soul those little pieces of their soul would turn into tiny craftsmen called fixies who would then make the appliance their home and take care of it every day and that's how the very first fixies came about but as the years have passed fewer things are being made by hand and more and more things are getting made by machines and factories that means there are less and less new fixies coming from human souls luckily fixies can fall in love with each other and have their own family raising their children and teaching them well so they'll grow up to become skillful and honest master fixie repairman so you're mistaken we're not lilliputians at all we're fixies yeah fixies [Music] listen tom thomas why don't you show us the movie yeah yeah i want to learn about little impressions too really i do sure i'll show you [Music] oh no what's going on i broke it up i can't give her back a disc that's messed up don't panic we'll take a look at it come lay it down over here [Music] tom thomas why is this disco covered in jelly because i was touching it with my fingers i mean what else it's obvious you don't know how a disc works at all and you know how it works yeah i know if we take a look at a digital disk through a powerful microscope we can see rows of tiny valleys of different lengths these valleys are actually a code for the cartoons games or music recorded onto the disc inside a disc player a laser beam reads the code and helps turn it back into pictures and sounds but if you scratch the disc or smudge the disc with dirty fingers the laser can't read it and the disc won't play that's why you need to keep discs clean and stored in cases so that's why you should only hold discs along the edges and when you're done watching them you have to put them back inside their boxes and what about this one do we have to get rid of it not so fast no look this calls for a major cleaning let's get the brooms [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay tom thomas check the disc there you go now you're holding it right hooray the disc works fine hooray now we can watch the movie about the lilliputians hey gulliver why are you sitting there you've seen this movie already i know and what what what look at that pile of discs where do you need to put them huh in their boxes [Music] in the air and flush it to each other [Music] please [Music] the catapult what was that huh strange tom thomas isn't here there's no way these toy soldiers could have shot it themselves now that was a good shot it wasn't real long and not high either and off target it was pretty awful it was good but awful i got it so what do we do we need to raise it up a little higher hey fire no lick why in the world would you shoot at a fixie they're supposed to be in school right now actually i'm on my way to school how about you fire why aren't you in class cuz there it's totally boring but here look what a cool shooter we found what did you call it you've got no idea what this is it's called a catapult guys a cat with gold eyes it isn't a cat with gold eyes it's a catapult guys [Music] catapults are ancient propulsion machines they were used to shoot stones heavy arrows or barrels with burning tar the main part of the catapult is a special piece of rope it is twisted very very tightly like a spring the rope is then wrapped around a big spoon and then if you pull the spoon back put a stone in it and let it go the catapult fires a shot and the stone flies far far away uh-huh all right so here we go came up short what do you mean short what are you waiting at you'll see spoon needs to go further back just a little guys you're gonna break the glass no like now push all right [Music] yes right on target now let's fly out into space wait what space what kind of flying who's gonna fly i'm gonna fly haha right out the window right up to the moon first fix it under the world knowledge are you ready for your flight into space yes sir no get out of the spoon now i'll be the first fixie on the moon yeah no look enough of this what kind of joke is this it's not a joke at all he's gonna fly into space and how come it's not you because he's lighter hold on humans didn't go straight into space themselves they sent dogs out there first chuseoka's not gonna fit in here simka why don't you go and let us finish fine i will go but only after nolik finds himself a helmet hmm you're right about that i'll go find a helmet [Applause] the catapult was invented in ancient times but people still use them today only now instead of launching stones catapults are used to launch jet airplanes you see the runway on an aircraft carrier is quite short so catapults are used to help the planes move fast enough to take off catapults can also be used to save the life of a pilot when an airplane has an accident a catapult activates in the cabin the pilot is shot into the sky and comes back to the ground with a parachute a plain old slingshot is also a kind of catapult it's just a very little one but be careful with this toy it can be dangerous to others and to you too as for us fixies the only time that we use catapults is on a peaceful mission up there what should i say to them hi there and you can ask them to launch you back so let's do it fire watch it stop don't sim car no lick i'm not getting [Music] [Applause] nope just a bit short [Music] it's not our fault you're just heavier than nolic and that's why you came up short purpose maybe we can try one more time what [Music] can you believe creatures even when they're magnified it's hard to see their features they're tiny infinitesimal so small it makes you doubt but if you meet up they please [Music] chess how about that then i'll play my pawn and i'll play my pawn grandpas we need our spool and it's missing oh congratulations professor have you seen it anywhere the spool i haven't seen we're playing chess can't you see do you like board games like dominoes for instance just about everybody has played it but do you know where it came from domino's was invented by the ancient chinese they made tiles and decorated them with dots like on a pair of dice and this is a game that looks a lot like checkers but it's a lot more challenging it's called backgammon backgammon originated in persia and from there it spread all over the world but the most challenging game of them all is the game of chess chess was invented in india and today the game of chess is loved in every country it's played by adults by children and even by computers chess is a real sport but the most important thing for playing chess is not the power in your arms but the power in your brain hey look i found it yeah hey what's going on that's our spool please let us take it back there's something we have to do with it but we're using it can't you wait it's a replacement for the missing pawn oh oh no that can work for a while as the pond's replacement yeah i can do it all right you can take it and you stand right over here one two three up we go class so how do we play you're going to play for the whites and now i'm going to capture your knight and we we're gonna knock over yours whoa whoa whoa young man slow down it goes back here [Music] get back to your square what for pawns don't move like that and how do they move only one square per move and only forward of all of the pieces the little pawn is the weakest what a mess so which one's strongest huh this it's the queen she's the most dangerous threat to the other king ah how come i couldn't be queen then that black king would have to deal with me oh yes in chess each player has a black or white army with eight pawns two knights two bishops two castles and a queen all of them work together for their king trying to protect him while attacking the enemy's king if the king finds himself in a position where he can be captured the attacking player says check and if the king finds himself with nowhere to run from the attack it's called checkmate whoever check makes the other players king first is the winner [Music] hmm i'll move my queen yeah and me my queen then i'll just capture your queen really then i'll just capture yours grandpas should i go now not yet do you feel like surrendering you're kidding do you know it forward hooray we'll step aside forward he got away all right fun and once more go forward great grandpas where do i go now don't you see the edge don't go anywhere now you're the queen what the rules of chess say that if a pawn makes it all the way to the other side he could become anything that was captured earlier hooray then i'll be the queen and i'll be the strongest piece in the whole game hey queen get back here in case you don't know this isn't over yet we capture the pawn with the queen queen this is your new place check check yeah now come to here checkmate my colleague of course it is it is mate yeah i lost hooray today today's professor we found the missing pot for you so that means nola can leave with us i'm not going anywhere with you this is the greatest game you'll ever play in your life all you should have seen how i put professor into checkmate really well grandpa's helped me a little actually it was grandpa's telling me where to move but i'm the queen now [Music] [Music] irons phones and toasters and tv [Music] please [Music] the dvd [Music] get away from here so where did it go oh here it is [Music] hey there tom thomas so what's on the desk hi there nolick hi there simka it's a cartoon about gulliver in the land of lillypoo my friend jeannie let me borrow it i have it till tomorrow and what's the story about well it's about this guy who gets shipwrecked where people are just so teeny teeny tiny fixies you mean no not fixies lilliputians uh-huh you know what simka i think that you fix these might have come from those little fusions no way our grandpa told us a completely different story of the pixies when something is very well made then the saying goes that it was made with just a little bit of salt in old times craftsmen made things to last and in each appliance they would leave just a little piece of their soul those little pieces of their soul would turn into tiny craftsmen called fixies who would then make the appliance their home and take care of it every day and that's how the very first fixies came about but as the years have passed fewer things are being made by hand and more and more things are getting made by machines and factories that means there are less and less new fixies coming from human souls luckily fixies can fall in love with each other and have their own family raising their children and teaching them well so they'll grow up to become skillful and honest master pixie repairman so you're mistaken we're not lilliputians at all we're fixies yeah fixies [Music] listen tom thomas why don't you show us the movie yeah yeah i want to learn about lilly peaches too really i do sure i'll show you oh no what's going on i broke it up i can't give her back a disc that's messed up don't panic we'll take a look at it come lay it down over here tom thomas why is this disco covered in jelly because i was touching it with my fingers i mean what else it's obvious you don't know how a disc works at all and you know how it works yeah i know if we take a look at a digital disc through a powerful microscope we can see rows of tiny valleys of different lengths these valleys are actually a code for the cartoons games or music recorded onto the disc inside a disc player a laser beam reads the code and helps turn it back into pictures and sounds but if you scratch the disc or smudge the disc with dirty fingers the laser can't read it and the disc won't play that's why you need to keep discs clean and stored in cases so that's why you should only hold discs along the edges and when you're done watching them you have to put them back inside their boxes and what about this one do we have to get rid of it not so fast no look this calls for a major cleaning let's get the brooms [Music] [Applause] thank you okay tom thomas check the disc there you go now you're holding it right [Music] hooray the disc works fine hooray now we can watch the movie about the lilliputians hey gulliver why are you sitting there you've seen this movie already i know and what what what look at that pile of discs where do you need to put them huh in their boxes [Music] i almost caught one yesterday [Music] but if you need a picture please don't let [Music] the mixer masia why are we going to the dishwasher again we have a busy day ahead of us and we all need to be charged up with energy i don't like charging myself up in the dishwasher then how about the microwave no like or the kettle no thanks i don't like it when we go inside anything at all in that kitchen there's not one interesting thing in there and where's it interesting huh in the computer mafia will you let me get charged up in the computer the energy there is sweeter our diet has to be nutritious knowledge not just delicious people don't eat just candy do they humans get energy from food while the fixies get their energy from appliances humans eat all sorts of foods and so do fixies they need the energy that comes from different devices getting charged up in a car makes a fixie faster in a computer smarter and then a clock more accurate to get a balanced energy diet fixies mustn't stay inside of one place all the time like a television it's healthier for us to move from one device to another good morning tom thomas what's the matter for breakfast i got cereal with milk mom says that milk is so healthy but i think it's just awful aha nola there you are go get charged right now i'm not going look at tom thomas he doesn't want to have breakfast either [Music] why don't you milk tastes awful to him tastes awful he just doesn't know how to drink it right look what we've got here what what a mixer [Music] a mixer is a kitchen appliance that's used to mix together different foods with a mixer you can make things like frosting sauces or an omelette but the most delicious thing you can make with a mixer is a milkshake it's easy just put some fruit syrup juice ice cream or anything else you'd like into a container and then add milk now use the mixer to stir it all up until it's smooth and creamy and that's it you've got yourself a milkshake [Music] guys what do we have for a milkshake we've got a jar of jelly will it work that'll work and strawberry jam that'll be great here's a banana i found some chocolate too and i found strawberry ice cream start up the mixer when you get up from your video when you get up from your bed [Music] open your favorite cereal [Music] need [Music] delicious indeed [Music] [Applause] [Music] wow this mixer's cool isn't it you think we can make one more shake just one they were good sure if you want to oh where did all the milk go way to go looks like you drank all of it and i remember when you said how milk is awful i didn't know how to drink it right [Music] simka what in the world were you up to and what happened to novick just come i'll show you [Music] no lick here you are didn't you say that charging up in the kitchen is boring for you the mixer's not boring it gives you energy that's yummy delicious and nutritious [Music] please the chain reaction [Music] tom thomas what you doing no leave me alone no really what is that quit distracting me will you [Music] no look look at what you've done i it's all because you wouldn't quit it wouldn't quit what i was struggling with that thing for half an hour and you ruined it hey tom thomas can you hear me tom thomas let me out [Music] no is that you banging yeah and how did you end up in there none of your business why are you so rude to me cuz i feel like it oh yeah enjoy sitting there well who needs you goodbye [Music] oh cinka what happened to you did you bang yourself and so what does it hurt leave me alone tula you always have to be fussing over everybody come on why aren't you so angry huh no look what's rude to me that means you have to be rude to me forgive me tula and where's no like right now there let's go see him no look it's tula are you all right i'm fine why were you so rude with your sister cause tom thomas was rude with me i get it it's a chain reaction a what [Music] setting a log on fire isn't easy but it's easy to light a match use the match to light kindling the kindling to light a twig and the twig to light the log have you ever seen a fire grow it's an example of a typical chain reaction so be extra careful with fire because just one match or little piece of smoldering coal can lead to a huge disaster yes they can make a whole forest first into flame and burn down to the ground and all because of a simple chain reaction i don't get you watching reaction what do you mean thomas was rude to you then you were rude to zumka then simka was rude with me so there it is a chain reaction yeah and the rudeness was like a little spark it just spread and spread and spread like a forest fire will you forgive me yeah all right i've got an idea why don't we try starting our very own chain reaction the other way around what do you mean well instead of spreading angry and rude feelings we can spread happiness but how it's simple all we need to do is smile and say nice things to each other what a great idea we could work together and fix tom thomas's mood and i know how come help me pick up this domino will you everything in the whole universe is made up of atoms particles so extremely small that you can't even see them through a microscope but when a tiny atom splits it makes a tiny explosion and that explosion can start another explosion and another explosion and another and now you've got a chain reaction and that's how a lot of tiny explosions work together to make the gigantic explosion of an atomic bomb the deadliest weapon known to man but atomic energy can also be used for peaceful purposes for example nuclear power plants use this energy to produce electricity and hot water and nuclear-powered icebreakers can break through the thick arctic ice so ships can sail on their way [Music] they're all done no look bring them in and now we're gonna teach tom thomas how a chain reaction can work to make you feel really good he's coming on your marks now what's going on no really tom thomas watch this [Music] [Music] [Applause] that was so totally awesome i can't believe what i saw how did you do that it was just a real a chain reaction what [Music] they take care of our machines irons [Music] the electric train [Music] [Music] and suddenly the earth is attacked by an alien spaceship [Music] if help arrives here on time we'll be saved move faster faster come on get off the train move it move it time thomas we came here to play oh finally you're here i need some aliens for this game what kind of aliens are you talking about just plain old aliens you know the ones they come destroy the earth in just about everything we don't want to destroy anything at all why can't we be the train engineers huh train engineers you don't know anything about driving a train oh we know plenty about trains humans invented the railroad long ago but back then the rails were made out of wood people didn't start making metal rails until the end of the 18th century but the first railroad cars had no engines to give them their power instead they used horses to pull them along later horses were replaced by the steam engine wooden coal would burn in their furnaces to boil the water in the boilers making the steam that turned their wheels and the fixies were there to help those trains go making sure all of the parts could work together smoothly but now steam engines have long gone away the railroad uses electricity now for its power these electric trains race along the railway at almost the speed of an airplane [Music] so you might know trains but you'll still be the aliens this railroad is mine so you're gonna play the way i want the train is unloaded and leaving the station you can play choo-choo by yourself and i [Music] will hmm hey why did you stop [Music] this doesn't help either it's not going at all simka no lick where are you did i hurt your feelings or something mom is dad gonna be home soon no is something the matter we've been attacked by evil aliens the train has to be fixed right away or we'll never escape them uh you want some tea ah i've got to think of something cinca nolic i know you're in there please forgive me if i hurt your feelings i'm really sorry there's nobody but you that can save the world from the evil aliens all right it talked us back into it well let's go and check the rails no look follow me i'm faster whoa well so much for being faster it looks like i found the break tom thomas the rails are broken i know and so you know but that's why your train's not running just like a real train model trains run on electricity but there aren't any batteries inside the locomotive to pull the other cars the engine gets its electricity from the rails each piece of the rail has a wire in it if the rails come apart the electricity can't flow through the track and get to the train and without electricity the trains engine just stops going so reconnect the rails and your train will run again put them together ah yes [Music] hooray the train's running way to go so will you play with me now and which way are we playing this time whatever you want i'm with you the train rushes down the track with no like as it's engineered when suddenly from out of the sky comes an alien spaceship [Music] [Applause] greetings to you oh people of planet earth i come from far away from another galaxy have you come to destroy everything no i've come to fix it all but if you need a picture please don't let that secret up but if you need a fixture please
