our slashes credit teachers what is the worst experience you have had with a student's parent I worked in a school where I had a small class it was a boarding school and at the end of my first week with my new class I decided to call all the parents to let them know how their kids had got on as most only saw them once or twice a year most calls were non-eventful with pleasantries and emails being exchanged until I got to one girl at the end of my list I didn't like this girl for reasons I won't go into but mostly hygiene related I rang her parents and introduced myself as mr. tobert twenty-sixth from the school and was met with tears from a sobbing mother that experience changed me and how I worked with that child the school I worked in was for children with severe learning and behavioral difficulties the teacher of the previous year only ever rang the parents when she had hurt someone she had zero speech developed at 16 / 17 and communicated with actions which could be a hit pinch or kick and staff regularly got bruises as could other kids the mum had picked up the phone and when I introduced myself had become wracked with guilt that her daughter had hurt someone again this was my last call of the day and I had meant it to be short as a student's level of development meant they had so little control over what they did she mostly experienced things around her that I spent the next hour talking to mum telling her as many details as I could recall about that pupils week mum was overjoyed with this but eventually ended the call asking me not to call again as she couldn't handle the worry when we rang but promised to call in every couple of weeks to speak to me for an update on how things were a few weeks and then a couple of months went by and I realized this wasn't going to happen I hated that child at first the bruises the smell the lack of responsiveness but I came to love her through the year and thought of her as one of my own I was always first in line to volunteer for overtime on the residential side when she needed help as I knew that people weren't fond and didn't have the patience for her the next time I heard from mum was at the pupils end of year of you horrible experience of the pair I mean I get it I really do it must be hard but this girl had a shortened life expectancy for medical reasons and it was her daughter I just don't know if I could be like that I used to substitute teach and often had long term assignments my most heartbreaking experience was when I subbed for about six months for a middle school math teacher I thought it was going to be awesome because it was at my favorite school and the eighth grade class I had really bonded with when I started sobbing they were in six so we kind of grew together I got to see them go from the tail end of being little kids to being big kids and they really latched onto me and like me also I was planning to get my teaching certification in middle school math so a long term and math would be good teaching experience for me anyway as a long-term sub I had to do everything the regular teacher had to do including grades by the end of the year I had several students failing which is common in inner-city schools that I was just heartbroken because I had taught the material and was really bonded with these kids right and I was still kind of naive and thought if only I knew some Savior trig like James Edward Ole Miss or Michelle Pfeiffer or Sidney pottier you know like in those teacher Savior movies then I too could save these kids humph so I knuckle down and got all of the failing kids up to at least passing except for this one girl I talked to the regular teacher in the principal and they said it was up to me I could give her extra credit to do if I wanted to to get her to at least a D but if not she was going to fail silly me I actually put together a packet of work for this girl to do gave up my lunch so she could come sit with me and we do the work together offered before school and after school nothing she'd never show I told her I'm going to call your mom if you don't get this work done she said so what my momma don't care so I called her mom guess what mom did she cussed me out and asked me why was I calling her because she wasn't going to do the package as she'd already passed eighth grade said with pride dafuq and she wasn't going to do it I said oh no I'm not calling to ask you to do the work but to make her do it sit with her after school and insist she do her work she needs this done to pass math class which she needs to go on to high school mom then said literally said I don't care if she has to repeat eighth grade stop bothering me don't f king call here no more then hung up on me girl never did the packet I had to fail her she also failed a few other classes the principal had to retain her but guess what the district's over turned their attention and passed her on to high school anyway well it was just a heartbreaking experience all around idk if another year in eighth grade would have helped any but she was not ready to do high school work at all and dropped out after tenth grade last I heard from other students I never friended them on FAFSA before anything but they would message me from time to time she had two kids one in ninth grade and one after she dropped out this wasn't the worst experience but probably the saddest oddest experience in the inner-city district where I subbed it it was not uncommon for some teachers to spend their own money to buy things the kids needed school supplies tissues sometimes even clothes coats and or shoes but this experience was unusual I was in a long-term sub at a high school and had a girl come ask me for a pad I told I didn't have any and sent her to the school nurse next day same thing I told her you have to remember to bring your own and sent her again to the school nurse next day again the girl then told me that misses regular teacher usually gave her pads I said oh well I'm not able to do that you'll have to go to the nurse again and when you get home ask your mom to buy you some pads she said okay and I thought that was the end of it ha well next day mom comes marching in with girl first bill demanding to speak with me I had a free slash planning period so that was okay and called the office so principal could come up as I was just a sub principal came mom goes off about how he had to make me buy her daughter pads my face was like go underscore oh and I said excuse me man that is your responsibility the principal said this too and also that just because misses regular teacher board pads doesn't mean that subs or anyone else was obligated to do so mom then said that since the school provided toilet paper at school they had to provide pads at school too WTF then went on whining about how she couldn't a food pads blah blah blah and she would see me after school threatening like principal shut that down hustled mom out the room so after school I did see her in a car but she didn't say or do anything but look at me crazy get this though this woman who was crying poverty and how she couldn't her food pads was sitting in that car smoking humph at the time cigarettes were about eight dollars a pack about twice the cost for a pack of pads nice girl though the kid herself was a very nice quiet kid I felt sorry for her and didn't hold her crazy momma against her this will probably get buried but I saw this and had to comment note my wife is a teacher in the school this happened at but it was not her student of all her stories this is by far the most appalling first a little background so in the school where my wife teaches the sixth graders have an end-of-the-year camp that is over pass away from the school it is somewhat related to the school subjects but since it is generally on the last few days of school there are no graded assignments that come from it a number of years ago the sixth grade teachers implemented a behavior and grades expectation policy it basically says if you want to attend camp then during the third and fourth quarter you cannot have an out-of-school suspension three behavior violations and an F and subject there are a few more items but these are the big items this policy has sent home the first week of school and all parents and students are required to sign it and bring it back no form no camp copies of signed forms are then sent back out to the parents in third quarter reminding both the students and the parents of the policy which they have signed and agreed to so fast forward to the issue at hand a kid who has qualified for advanced placement courses got multiple failing grades in third quarter both him and his parents were notified that he would not be attending camp due to the failing grades the parent gets his paper and thinks there must be a misunderstanding us just because her son has s in multiple classes should not be held back from camp that is in their opinion unfair at this time the principal of the school upholds a policy this parent ghosts of the principal's boss and he overrides the ruling stating the kid can go this is where it gets really ugly the principal then changes his tune and says the one kid needs to go the sixth-grade teacher say no way we have this in place for the safety of the students as well as a reward for those who actually do their work they send mountains of information about this particular kid and his behavior in class the quality of his work and even the contract signed by the parent and student acknowledging the policy some of the items they had to show this kid had no right to attend camp were the initial signed contract failing grades in multiple classes not just one subject or teacher documented behavior issues with the principal even multiple assignments where the student did little or no work on the assignment and then wrote an explanation that was sent home as to why they did not get the work done in class and so on even with that information they had another letter signed in the second quarter by the parents stating their kid was not to be held in at lunch or recess to do homework even though his grades were improving the parent explicitly stated over the extreme objection of the teacher that his lunch and recess time with his friends was more important than his academic progress all of this is documented in single letter to the administration of the school district the teachers here nothing back from the administrators the principal then comes to the teachers and says he can let this one student go but the others that are failing or otherwise in violation of the policy do not have to go the principal says they can keep this one quiet the teachers about lost their minds they say no way and that is unethical not to mention the fact that it is already unethical to let the other could go even though he was in violation of the policy this goes back and forth and the teachers still have no heard the administrators above the principal a few more days pass and the teachers get the Union involved since camp is optional they do not have to attend the principal says they do Union says no a little while later the principal then comes to the teacher who has a student in question in class and says with the union rep in the room there has been a harassment claim filed against this teacher by the parent of said student post meeting the teacher calls her personal attorney in the Union both say the student must be removed from her class the possible legal issues are mounting so fast it is hard to stop them the principal refuses and then backtracks saying it wasn't really a harassment claim as much as it was a suggestion and potential harassment claim but not an official one yet but wait it gets better as the teachers have not yet heard from the administration at all the parent sends an email to the principal and the school district administration both the principal's boss and the boss of the principal parts of this MLR Center teacher apparently this teacher has grading policy in 3rd / 4th quarter that states every day a paper is late it loses 10% of its maximum value the parent has the audacity to say that the kid would have a 60.1% in subject X if the teacher would give the kid 50% on this assignment that was due in January that she saw him working on in February mind you it is April when all this happening and the students are well on their way into the fourth quarter the parent goes on to list a few other subjects and Sherri picks a few assignments that a large that would bring the grades to at least a 60% for the 3rd quarter the teacher in question cannot even believe the parent has even bothered to write this letter needless to say the principal thinks he is now going to conduct camp without the help of the teachers the teachers refused to attend because of the safety issues that abound with the select few kids that can now attend because all kids should be able to attend camp regardless of past behaviors according to the principal in all this that teachers finally hear back from the administration in short they have left it to the principal to figure this one out but wait it gets better remember the harassment claim the principal refuses to remove the student from the teacher's class but finally relents after the Union forced his hand the student then grabs his mouth to the other students and teachers that this other teacher is not very good and that is why he transferred to this class he also opens his mouth and tells everybody that he is attending camp even though he has bad grades now the 6th grade teachers now refused to attend camp at all they drafted an official litter with the Union backing it listing the reasons they are not attending since the principal is not sure how camp is done and has done nothing to prepare for camp he is asking multiple times a day and week for their help the principal now has to get a letter out to the parents explaining why the teachers are not attending the principal quite literally tells one teacher the letter to parents will state that this particular teacher is not attending for health reasons which is an outright lie oh this got the 6th grade teachers fired up they officially requested via the union a copy of the letter that is going to parents before it is sent out this letter has not yet been completed in all this time a few parents have gotten wind of the situation and are extremely best some are threatening to go to the school board the superintendent and so on it is all the 6th grade teachers can to keep them back I would love to write the conclusion to this story but it is still in progress more on this later TL DR parents said their kids should not be held to a policy that she was aware of and subsequently lawyers unions school administration and soon-to-be many parents get involved sagar is ongoing I can't wait to see what happens when all the parents find out about the 6th grade teachers not going because of significant safety concerns and the district not upholding our academic and behavior policies I suppose I should mention that the safety issues are with students who have parents that have court-ordered restraining orders issued against them so they cannot appear on school grounds one kid brought a BB gun to school and others actively tried to poison another student in class don't forget the kids that just don't listen to the teachers at all and are completely in tow defiant but according to the principal these kids are not that bad and their parents will be required to come along for supervision nothing could go wrong here edit since I got gold I should probably clean up the grammar edit hash to posted a reply below and in copied this to slash are slash teachers going to see if I can get some real emails for the next update the saga continues I worked as an English teacher in Korea I had a good rapport with students and enjoyed every age group I have had troublemakers but I think the worst is when the parent and the boss are both against you I had a new student in day one was awful he punched a kid in the face within five minutes of joining the mother laughed nervously from an observation window and waved to the kid I have handled kids punching before he was young six years old he did not listen to the Korean teachers either I took him from the table where the children were and he laughed and ran back to the kid again he did not hit but grabbed books from other students etc we got through class after patience and the other kids kind of telling him to sit down day two no mom this time absolutely quiet sleeping I had to wake him up through a book other kids were upset with him normal misbehavior that might happen in a classroom full of unruly kids but just one kid Tim day three pulling a kid's hair running around a table when I moved him away from other kids mother laughing as if funny and now he laughs at me as I get forceful and tell him he cannot act up in class and then spits in my face I wipe it off and continue to tell him it is not okay he turns and looks at the other kids and spits again this time in my eye I woke him out to his mother smiling nervously I'm unhinged inside but I'm cool and collected she speaks English relatively well I say under no circumstances can he come into class and hurt other kids or spit at me or the students she says he does not understand you he thought you meant orange I looked perplexed and say that maybe and reinforced what I'm saying and close the door leaving him outside with her my boss comes in and brings him in smiling and sits him down as he laughs I go outside with her and the mother and I tell her about the numerous incidents she says he did not understand when you were talking about colors I tell how we were not talking about colors she says the first day he was an [ __ ] for the rest of the year and one day he had some weird children's book about German concentration camps his mother was excited for him to show it to me so weird and one of only two kids I never liked ever TL DR kids spit in my face then in my eye mother watched laughed and tried to blame me Oh Lord where do I start I quit teaching last year to go back to grad school and while I miss it sometimes all I have to do is look back at these stories get a call from the principal go during my planning period why says you're abusive in class abusive I'm a sarcastic [ __ ] sometimes so I'm worried I might have said something to the snowflake that rubbed him the wrong way can you clarify ma'am well his mother says you stare at him in class menacingly what am I do yes ma'am I usually mean mug kids that can't shut the [ __ ] up while I'm in the middle of explaining something as to not discipline them at the expense of the other students attention spans [ __ ] hell I had a senior who was regularly late to a second period class seniors don't have to be at school until their first scheduled class this girl was always 10 to 15 minutes late with a late sign-in slip from the office a tardy slip is good for first period if you're 15 minutes late to my class and all of your peers are in the room and you drove yourself to school in your new car it's on you I let to slide and wrote her up for tardiness the third time conference with department head principal and parent and feels like you single her out in class why are you picking on her I remember pointing out and warned in twice that I wouldn't be having that tardy slip [ __ ] in my classroom under those circumstances and then simply handing them the demerit nobody is being singled out because nobody else is doing this I warned her to Hue waterworks cue teenage drama swallow my tongue and deal with it and just let the kid continue to bring their own Seagrave t says you don't care what the students think well why the [ __ ] should I when all he ever thinks about is how when and why I should be giving homework or how difficult quizzes should be or any variety of other things that factor directly into how I'm doing my job usually while I'm in the middle of doing it in a disrespectful manner in front of their peers and especially how little this [ __ ] actually wants to apply himself given that I know he's one of the brightest kids in the class taught and his mother absolutely ruined this course for the rest of the students because I had to teach to their complaints rather than what the class needed I can't think of all the demeaning and disrespectful things mama [ __ ] had to say to my face in front of my direct superiors the god damn most of it involved negative comments regarding my age and openness to suggestions look when either you or your kid have taught this class ever come give me all the suggestions you have and I'll take them all until then I trust my three years of experience more than your brats laziness you don't see me telling you how to sell health insurance especially considering how you almost cost me being on my parent's insurance my first day here yes this parent administered the school health insurance in one way or another yes they were extremely wrong and extremely confident in the fact that a bamaca meant I couldn't be on my parents plan I'm a student but here's what I recollect from my mother's interactions with my foreign language teacher step 1 I get bad grades in the class please keep in mind that the bad grade in question is a high C which is not ideal and something I'm still ashamed about and is beneath the a standard my mother sets for me a year later she has lowered her standards they now stand at a high B but only because I'm taking 7 AB courses step 2 mom C said grade online I come home she braids me all like is it a mistake did you forget to turn the assignment in are you sure you didn't forget of course I come up with the worst response which grade please show me on the online grader book so I know which assignment you're talking about she never names the assignment just the weight so will I know what this is she's crazy about a test she gets mad again that I don't check my own grades often enough turns out it was a speaking test time to be honest I was really bad at this class I have managed to keep a high B in this class and balance it with an A+ in another class foreign language isn't my thing but I needed the credit to graduate under my current plan step 3 more ml's teacher about it asks for tutorials it's all civil for now step 4 I attend tutorials which I should have done earlier the teacher has a hard enough time getting all the information through in class and I really felt a tutorials help I'm still so thankful to my teacher for this however it wasn't enough to bring my grade up and I made a middly on the next test and then a c-minus it was my fault I didn't study for the test as I had to others but to be honest the FL grade was much more important and I should be better at time management step 5 mom calls other moms and discovers that the teachers of the FL course are unfair and cruel emails teacher again while cci not men in an attempt to get FL teacher fired ends with my mother getting into a one-on-one meeting with the teacher I'm terrified for the teacher and the pressure at home is still on me my mom does not think I'm some perfect person who couldn't have made those grades but thinks that acting aggressively towards the teachers will get the great app she learned this from when she bullied the counselor in getting me into higher-level courses step 6 the actual meeting I don't know what happened as I was in class blissfully unaware of what happened but apparently the FL teacher felt threatened by my mom she is 5 feet the teacher is 6 but my mom can be very mean when necessary believe me I've been living with her for a longest time the FL teacher then brings in her college who also teaches the same class my mom came home and felt like she was ganged up on and wild net but the meeting proved one thing to her everything is my own goddamn fault the teacher graded me well tried her best and everything was my fault everything proceeded to be my fault that was around that time my mom really started swearing at me I eventually got pulled out of the class and now when I get a bad grade my mom screams at me and asks about it but refuses to take any of my responses because I'm a liar if you'll excuse me I have 7up Exum's to study for if any of you-all can help it would be greatly appreciated keyd LR not-so-great students mom freaks out about grade almost gets teacher fired but ends up blaming student per usual told from student perspective so take with a grain of salt thank you so much for watching please like and subscribe the channel
