as i review the events of my past life i realize how subtle are the influences that shape our destinies most persons are so absorbed in the contemplation of the outside world that they are wholly then he wrote me a letter uh that came with this box it said what's up chris i'm andy gilker creator of tesla's box he says he's put more than 200 hours on this puzzle on designing choosing and making parts programming and testing his puzzles all handmade and it takes two days to fully make and assemble difficulty is moderate and better solve from one to three people thank you andy very generous of you very kind of you this is the tesla's puzzle this thing looks so dope right here it's plugged in currently we had to hopefully i get you guys with these angles is that good is that a good angle that's pretty good it comes with this it says tesla's box and it says i put my glasses on here it says the old post illustrated weekly newspaper saturday june 8th 1901 city is plunged into darkness electricity is abruptly stopped last night during you know what let's start the timer because i'm seeing clues already that's where the timer's gonna live so if you notice on this thing here there are on the letter some of these letters are capitalized and some of them are not capitalized so i need a piece of paper i have a piece of paper i need a pen i'll be right back i'm just going to take a second here to write all of the all of those letters down and here's what the letter's spelled out by the way too simple i think that was a red herring the puzzle is solved when the music is playing and the plasma ball is activated then touch the plasma ball with a finger for a fun effect electronics will be used have an internet connection nearby to solve the puzzle okay no force necessary for your safety do not unscrew or unplug lights i don't know if there are any other clues here like the price is 10 cents uh there's this little diagram in the corner with these light bulbs here um there are numbers here on the side and i'll turn that towards you guys so you guys can see we'll look at this angle over here i hear a few things going on with this puzzle we got a key over here as you can see on this side here i have uh i have a rotary telephone piece nothing in the back and then we have switches and these switches let's see if we can listen anything these switches uh they go neutral on or off right and then this key so i think we'll start with the key key is very flimsy key looks like it's coming out there's a key or a switch oh there's a button here boom oh it says volt and this little thing fell out this little piece of paper let's have a read nothing seems to be on the inside of that yet here's what it says us454622a dash year us454622a year now i'm guessing the year since we mentioned it would be 1901 dash year so maybe those are the numbers that we have to input into this rotary phone here so let's try that out um and this says volts oh and it has a little i didn't notice that this key got a bit of um a little bit aluminum foil not sure what that's for 45 46 22 a dash let's go 1901. i don't know what's happening it randomly started clicking around you guys see that it randomly just started going off so let's try those numbers again so 45 what are we looking at here what's what's going on is that for is that to figure out this here okay let's try one nothing two nothing three nothing four four huh oh it says us first so maybe like us had to put in us so u s 45 i feel like that's resetting it every time it does that could that does that make sense because i'm not putting in the same numbers and it's giving me the same pattern that's all we have to go on along with this thing here that just says volt kind of stumped right now not gonna lie this is uh throw me for a loop so 45 46 let's just try random number like seven seven seven yeah so it's almost like it's telling me that i'm wrong if that makes sense so what about just the year which was 1901 let's try that one one same pattern every time i put in four numbers it does this why is that i haven't found the correct four numbers huh hmm how could uh wait what if i turn one of these on and then just do four random numbers [Music] same thing what if they're all on exactly the same thing once again but if they're all on neutral we're just experimenting here these are all little things we got to do to experiment well it's 14 minutes and we haven't gotten anywhere i wouldn't say we haven't gotten anywhere we're just we're very uh we're in the beginning here we have this which says volt on one side is there a secret compartment here somewhere using the key maybe there is a magnet okay let's put all these switches down so the year we said was 1901 that didn't do anything what if then oh what if this right here was the word it's four it's four letters it's the only thing aside from the year would be eight o would be six l would be five let me know in the comments if you have no idea what this thing that i'm touching is a lot of you if you're too young you might not notice a rotary phone but what the hell is happening okay there was a pattern that showed up okay if i do something else does it go away now let's put in 1901 let's try that still no why did that turn on um they did tell us to use the internet so we will use the internet and i'm going to i'm going to google this this is uh and it says us and because this is tesla i'm guessing this is a patent us45 4622 a dash 1901 brings us to here which is a patent and it has a different date system of electric lighting that's the image we get on uh google patented june 23rd 1891 1891 let's go one eight nine one i feel like this thing's gonna blow up in my face do i now turn on the switches what was the first one volt i think the switches have to be on maybe that's why volt v this thing is now non-functional [Music] what if okay hold on what if we gotta take this key because it does have a side that is uh has aluminum foil on it so we're gonna try to get it back in there where it goes doesn't do anything oh okay what if i don't touch the key and do it dilemma oh maybe it's not a pattern i have to follow maybe they're trying to let me know which ones are right and which ones are wrong [Music] seems like this one is all the wrong ones let's try this now i have two wrong ones so that one has to stay up this one [Music] okay why is it flashing how many flashes was that what's going on three four three that was three i did hit the switch here however two three okay oh it's doing it again four why four now four again turning them all off this is weird two what they're all on two middle ones down five six seven eight two three four five five two three four five six seven seven here we go it's doing the thing again i'm really afraid this thing's gonna blow up my face two that to me looks like morse code okay i don't know morse code so i'm gonna have to google this that's dot dot which is i that's long and then dot dot is i dash dot dash dash dot dash hold on i'm in three dashes god dash dot dash hold on i can't find it anywhere dash dot dash there's no okay and then three dashes was o okay dot dot dash now it's starting over that makes it start over that light makes it start over so there's a word here it's definitely morse code it's gonna start over in a sec here we go dash dot dash dot dash that's n and then dash dot dash which is a k o that's a l i think it spells nicola first one's gonna be an n i think that's what we're spelling here is nicola dash dot is gonna be an n that's the first one i know what the last one is probably tesla i'm guessing come on here we go that's a n dash then it's dot dot that's an i then a k is dash dot dash okay o is three three dashes got it l dot dash dot dot [Music] wait what i think maybe the last ones could be numbers i'm very confused right now everything's correct what's that last one dot dot dash dash dot dot dot dash dash dot dot dot dot that's a question mark what we have here it says nicola question mark nikola tesla is that the answer we have to put in here t e s l hey maybe i gotta wait till the sequence finishes and then put it in what is it eight three seven five two here we go [Music] eight three seven five two oh it's working this time i really feel like it's gonna blow up lee can you hit the lights oh sorry camera look at that wow that is so dope that is amazing well there you have it ladies and gentlemen i guess we can get the lights back on eh that's very cool might be better in a total dark room well ladies and gentlemen there you have it i had a lot of fun solving this total solve time roughly 35 minutes which isn't that bad considering it should have taken me 90 minutes i'm very glad it didn't take me
