Shauno’s cooking disaster! PANEL DAMAGE on first rock step – Jock’s tough NSW weekender in Yalwal

you're after one of the best four-wheel driving destinations on new south wales south coast cram full of tough technical wheeling then look no further than yowell off we go but this trip we're stepping it up a notch because jocko is leading the convoy right i will get out of the way and i'll show you how it's done that's right this trip we're doing yellow my way and i'm going to be cranking up the difficulty epic wheeling classic pubs stunning views and top notch cooking i guarantee this will be a trip the boys will never forget that's a different kind of smelling smoke isn't it i always block my ears when things go bad well this is very exciting because i'm down in new south wales after a long hiatus and even better i'm down with the boys and jocko is leading the convoy this is his backyard for south coast new south wales um he's pretty keen to show us around as well so very exciting times i can't wait to get stuck in boy jocko coffee mate i sure do mate how's it going mate it's going great i'm actually enjoying being second in the convoy for once and i'm getting you to guide us around in your backyard mate mate i'm pretty excited i cut my teeth on tough tracks down here and uh what do you reckon we get into some tough crawling and wheeling hey mate it's music to my ears i can't wait what have you got in store for us the good thing about yowell is there's plenty to choose from uh you know for all different levels so someone like you who isn't that good at wheeling can still come down here and have fun with their mates even guys who do it a fair bit well do your best mate you're up front it's not for everyone up there it's a lot of pressure but i'm just going to go with the flow mate you lead this trip i can't wait to see what we come up with right sounds like a plan i'm keen as a little b to get into it and give it a crack eh two hands on the old steering wheel mate for beginners let's uh let's get into it sounds good mate joining us for this adventure is tim from mitts alloy wheeling his usual weapon of choice a twin lock 79 fitted for this trip with a lightweight alloy tray and a shorter canopy next up in his beast of a gu is pete from ultimate nine ready to show us once again just how far that three-liter zd30 can be pushed with the right mods grinding at the convoy is a new rig to four-wheel drive 24-7 wheeled by isaac from torkit the guys at torkit are known for their high quality exhausts they've been building up this mint 200 series with this trip being its first real shakedown on some tough tracks i've seen the way jocko wheels down here so for this trip i'm bringing along on one of the final trips before it gets rebuilt a process that's already started on our youtube channel hopefully the old girl will give me a fighting chance at keeping up with jocko's capable luxie a twin locked solid swapped reduction geared a little beast of a rock crawler like i said i'm choosing the tracks for this trip and i'm going to be taking the boys to some of y'all's lesser known challenges and that means the tyre pressures are gonna want to come right down all right first track i decided we'd uh tackle with the boys is well first we're doing the access track to one called dusty's it's super overgrown no one's driven this in a long time there's this steep little pinch over a creek it's gonna be interesting to get through see how we go oh that's a bigger drop than i thought there's a bank there jox rig's got some pretty mad departure angles front and rear but even he nearly runs out of room on the exit and that means for the rest of us this could be quite a challenge well i just did whatever it wanted that is not the line i'll be taking that would feel wild in some of the higher vehicles i think fortunately deluxey even with the tent on has a pretty low centre of gravity build them low and build them wide i'm actually kind of stoked jocko's leading the way really washed out it feels a bit wild when you drop in but stay on that yeah just drive forward a bit it's going to slip in at the front but you'll stop touch your right hand down that's it there you go there's the slip you go away and just like i thought might happen i've got perfectly hung up on the rear that's your rebar in the log let's get a little bit of gas yeah opened out mayo [Music] smokey isn't it ah soot that's a different kind of smelling smoke isn't it ah it's a mixture of coolant and oil and diesel smoke i think you dipped out well this is just the access track shawn's already gotten stuck trying to follow the luxie what's happened is he's really different sitting behind a mega rock and because he's dropped down into the creek he can't reverse because he's rebar sitting into that massive log so i reckon i'm gonna have to get the winch out and we're just on the track to the track oh it's all right mate you got plenty of chances to redeem yourself well yep that's a little embarrassing but at least it's a chance to break in our new snatch recovery kit i have a feeling it won't look that clean for long i'll take my winch that one i must have just been stuck we don't want to repeat the same problem with every vehicle so we're going to chuck some treads on that right hand side to try and reduce the severity of that drop in this case stacking them all together to make the biggest ramp possible you're therefore that's it mate you're gonna slip in in the front but it's okay there you go we preparation prevents piss-poor performance yeah don't rub it in tim no i like to show off mate [Music] oh he's going different line i feel like pete could put that car wherever he wants it'll still drive it that's it mate the same strategy seems to be working for pete's rig but the gu is on 35's even with the treads there's a fair bit of rub oh well departure angles and gus and a mega log don't really mix but uh nice and smooth through there i think he's done a tail light that's a shame unique brand new well this is essence of patrol and the 200's got not as nice departure angle as the gu so we're probably going to have to maybe do a bit of packing just so we can get it through safely maybe put the treads on a nicer angle as a bit of a down ramp it broke as i threw it mate that's payback for cost baby [Music] so what we're doing here is just trying to give the 200 the best chance try and keep all the panel straight so we've got a tread ramp over there and we're just going to put a couple more here just for when it slips in just to give it a bit more uh clearance so hopefully it should be able to drive through the rut let's see how we go yeah touch right mate that's it nice and slow nice and slow bit more right the guys that talk it are still fine tuning the setup on the 200 and pretty soon we've found another mod i'll definitely want to make touch more left mate that's it touch your right hand down mate just trying to get that bar out of the bank what did it slip off no oh no well i mean it's not as well as if it was a brand new really expensive vehicle i mean look at the end of the day that's a plastic part and it gives was a pretty good uh opportunity to maybe upgrade it to a rear bar it just sort of slipped off that line fell down hit the log and uh well he hasn't even seen all damage yet so i'll let him deal with that we've seen a few 200s did the same bitter panel work and thankfully a good rear bar should solve the problem but for now we're all through [Music] jock's sass rig really is built for low and slow wheeling and with those reduction gears you should make this stuff look like a walk in the park what's going on up there jocko is it tough mate oh i was just having a little warm-up dance reminding me that the track's in charge [Applause] i might not be able to make it look quite as graceful but even with a leaking locker just soldiers on through four old sorry she's a little bit tired at the moment he's sitting even more than normal that's not that's not the healthy type of soot that isn't [Music] straight up i should have done that yeah baby yowell is a pretty wild place to wheeler 79 and following pete's line hasn't quite worked for tim i always block my ears when things go bad just go back a little bit we'll chuck a rock in there mate a little bit of rock packing should sort this one and lift those rear spring hangers up and over the rocks [Music] there you go very beautiful very good that is how you do it locker on low range let's see what happens if yell is wild for a 79 it's even more so for a 200 series but isaac's got the benefit of some cool control in the big rig and actually makes it look pretty darn smooth that's what land cruiser owners need to do stick together and if a bit of luck you'll let me into the aircon [Music] now of course what we've seen so far is just the access route to our main challenge of the day and soon enough we're up on the climb itself the infamous dusty's track this massive climb is marked by a stack of big shady rock steps it's a long and hard scrabble all the way to the top with a long way to the bottom if things go wrong i'm just taking a bit of a bit of a vote up here mate you're paying about 4.80 to uh make it up and about a dollar 20 to get stuck so the odds aren't in your favor big fella how you feeling i'm not a betting man so i have no idea what that means but are you just trying to get me a bit shook because you're not up front for once big boy good luck um just make sure everything's tied down your vehicle mate and do your best right i will get out of the way and i'll show you how it's done he's confident i like it all right because i got reduction oh the sun's in my eyes so drive so far jocko because i've got reduction gears i'm actually in second gear right now which feels wild for a hill like this but momentum is your friend on stuff like this i reckon and i cannot see a thing saying his eyes makes it hard it makes it hard oh joko is sending it on up but he's not exactly making it look easy there we go there we go straight up wow ladies and gentlemen the luxie is here and she's ready to party here's the thing if doco lifts a wheel right here that means i'm gonna end up on my lid oh man i've had this car nearly 10 years and i love it every single time i drive it what a rig oh yeah he lifted a good old wheel coming up now i've never seen jock lift the wheel before really heaps of confidence now all right let's give this a go i'm a little bit nervous about this one and what you can't see on the screen is just how steep this hill is this is like proper vertical hard to walk up and um just shyly sort of rocks here goes nothing in fact this is gonna be the serious wheeling face in a second because this is yeah it's really stiff [Music] come on you absolute old weapon well swordy absolutely just walked up dusty's tell you what she's got some fighting on the old girl heaps of smoke rocks going everywhere just up she went loves it how good who's next you are mate rydo a dusty dance not gonna lie i am a little bit nervous the boys made it look real easy my car is big and heavy so i'm excited to see how we go well docker you just obviously saw me drive up there and i'm just going what the boys said they they want me to probably guide off team up yeah that's okay i don't know something about throttle control and just oh yeah i was convinced i actually had an um abc throttle controller it was that controlled in there is that right didn't say that yeah there was so much smoke you couldn't even see what sodium is doing so we get to ultimately sitting at the bottom just quietly puckering i think it's going to lift a few wheels but it will look spectacular the spring hangers might catch him out i think throttle in the right spot and he'll uh get through making it pretty wild all right mate we're ready for you here he comes give us some drandal well there's a wheel lifts already the two lockers though you know it does make a huge difference it 100 does there it is little spring hanger dogs oh no perform no no you sort of pull them in the bank a little bit if you can keep those wheels straight mate it's not not to the right i can go back down and have another go even then come here come go back maybe maybe a couple of feet that was my idea as well not beating drops you probably go from there if you wanted yeah probably from there mate i think it was almost up that was so close oh no that's embarrassing now you got this you got this your front and your ears are trying to climb at the same time makes it quite hard i think you need to sort of bouncing up a little bit there we go there we go that's a real committing right that one yeah it is [Music] swearing around he loves it he loves it all day sir all day sir [Laughter] wow pretty easy to see what i call this dusty was that jocko why is it what i call it dusty's way what is that jocko it's dusty really righty uh here we go i'm gonna run set my throttle controller up to u7 i haven't done one of these for a few years and i think it's gonna be a little bit of a test pete's up next i reckon he's gonna make it look too easy as he always does he always does this is the perfect hill for throttle control and we know one thing pete's good at that's what you could have learnt when you watch my drive probably just how to really get that anyway pete's coming up now he's got the aircon on he's probably listening to classic fm all right then mate right over there what hillary says wait pete making this look way too easy habit of that mate that vehicle stupidly capable light capable low i don't know that's the secret hills like this mate one thing all the rigs have shared so far is a solid front axle and for an ifs rig a run like this is pretty risky with cv breakage as being a real possibility with that in mind we're going to send the 200 around this one and try and keep it in one piece for the challenges ahead we're soon heading towards a camp that joko's picked out for us but already our new convoy leader is trying to worm out of the responsibilities mate dusty's once again never fails to disappoint that was an awesome afternoon uh testing out the vehicles on some tracks what do you reckon we head to camp eh my that was a heck of a lot of fun all right camp sounds good mate have you got one uh sort of lined up or what yeah i've got a little spot lined up it's not too far away we've got to cross back across the creek but uh no it should be nice mate since this is your weekend what are you cooking as well oh yeah look actually i was going to talk to you about that so i do have a plan but i forgot one of the ingredients and i might need to go back into town so can i do i have to cook tonight can you cook tonight that sounds like a bit of a cop out mate i was looking forward to this you were taking over the whole weekend and i thought that meant camp duties as well i'll whip something up tonight mate but you must cook tomorrow night okay done dear well uh you're no stranger to cooking up an absolute feed for the boys so yeah if you handle tonight i promise i'll cook up a storm tomorrow how's that sound like you're on you lead the way to camp mate i can't wait darkness comes on pretty early down in the bottom of the valley but joko's actually done pretty well and found us a nice flat spot just minutes from the track now i want to go for a bit of a bold cooking recipe tonight which is either going to be a spectacular discovery or a huge disaster but first we're gonna roll out the canvas and get a fire going [Music] not gonna lie mate very very excited that you're gonna be cooking tonight yeah look i know i dropped the ball but my forte is tracks i expected the full weekend was gonna be late on from youtube you no doubt showed us some great tracks but i just i felt that tonight would be like maybe just crescendo up to it yeah walking scene but yeah i could have but that's okay because it means that you're here as well and yet another chance to rise and shine you well i know you're good at cooking and i reckon you can do it well i'm starting i'm starting the confidence every night i reckon one more night of you doing it and i'll you know get some photos and then tomorrow i've got a feed plan will you give me a hand mate i've got a couple of ingredients and uh i think i've got just the meal oh outstanding let's do it well obviously tonight uh cooking duties have been uh passed on to me i thought i'd make something that the boys are gonna love obviously and um one that sort of i don't know maybe a little bit reminiscent of the tracks something tough something with a bit of rocks in it and um just a whole lot of skill to get there first things first hello mate first things first mate do you like burgers i love booze you know what's the what's the worst thing about burgers though imagine yeah because when you're out in the bush it's hard to get bread to stay yeah cause it breaks apart and then you have just a big second it goes mouldier especially in the top end mate that's what you meant i thought you meant just when you tried to eat it that's a couple of ingredients on the tailgate here yep i want to start off with mincemate so we're making burgers essentially just pretenders burgers without the bread naked birds naked burgers that's what you call it in a fancy place or like a meat sack simmer very a rolled meat sack i'm gonna break the mince apart it's the first thing i'm going to do breadcrumbs now breadcrumbs will hold the old mints together just about that much so these eggs here now this is this is these are from your chuck pen are they these are from my chooks if they're poo on them if they got put on it you may do them all right yes because they're good they're good eggs they're good eggs look at that that's a good egg now i want to get my hands dirty here mate and um get in there get this together meat kneading like anything jocko in life you want to be knuckle deep mate you do want to be knuckled dude get your fist in there and have a little punch that's okay it really is and just just to mix all that around actually joko do you mind your mind is cracking another egg in your office i'm gonna make a welcome that's not a good egg that smells what's that egg i'm just gonna have to get rid of some of that mince unfortunately joco we're gonna [Music] how does it never happen this has never happened like this before i need to get rid of it stop it what's up my fingers what is the guy with is that a white egg that's me what chook that's just getting here it's gotta go he's gonna go oh oh no what happens has ever now any other mints apologies we just had a little bit of a moment and uh everything's gone in the bin even the onions that i was cutting nicely sean put them in the bin so we're gonna start again and i think we have a solution here he comes now so i don't even know what to say mate that wasn't that's never happened before it happened i'll tell you what but you know what it's not about it's not about falling over it's how you get back up again exactly right that that's exactly right so isaac has actually come to the rescue yeah obviously i've gone through the full camp to find out who's got the meat and it turns out we're a bit light on supplies however isaac did have a barbecue pack what i'm gonna have to do here is i'm gonna have to get the sausage mints out of the sausages because i don't want the skins yes it goes you gotta pull it off yeah that's what you want i'm just trying to make mince is all i'm trying to do here this is the best we've got but you know what a professional chef will roll the punches jocko they will yeah it's what it uh it's not about how hard you normally my people would just give up a situation like this but the true professionals amongst us we'll just keep going look at that oh there you go you got the technique jocko [Laughter] oh we've all been in public for one week [Laughter] don't waste the mints i need the skin completely off mate now we need to vet the eggs before we put them in this time we do and i'll actually get a bowl out because um my mum has always said this to me she said sean if you with farm knees you should always crack him in the bowl your mum sounds like a smart lady and i've always said mum never ever have any mom it turns out she is 100 banging she is 100 correct mothers know best they do they do hi mum i need some bread crumbs in there just sprinkle it around that's it how's that one there but that's okay that that is what i normally look like that's what an egg is supposed to look like not green slop if you could get some of that garlic yes garlic salt garlic salt yep shake that around this is where it all starts to come together jocko okay talk to me what are we doing here goose a little bit of our fall yeah okay so what i'm gonna do start to put this down on okay you're making a mega meat log yeah pretty much so what i'm gonna do is flatten that out it's actually it's like a finger it does look like a finger so i'm just going to like sort of put raw onion through the middle like that what else do you have on burgers jocko cheese heaps of it heaps of cheese mate basically just overlap them all the way up these are burger pickles start start whacking the burger pickles out got a couple of tomatoes in there as well mate now i'm gonna get some um mustard in between my my shots yep you want you just shoot your load okay this is the hard bit actually this is the hard bit and hopefully this works out what you just well yeah it's like roll out like a swag it's a big meat log that is what we're dealing with now you're thinking guys that doesn't look that good right however we can make it better what makes anything better bacon oh you're going to go around it is correct yes i'm just going to wrap this little guy in bacon i'm just going to wrap like a little baby basically making like a little u-shape like that and the little log will go on top of that so it sits off the bottom now i've got to be honest with you a few setbacks have pushed back the delivery time for this feast and we're getting on towards midnight as we finally get this meal on the coals and some of tonight's diners well they've had to opt for a pre-dinner power nap but it's all right boys pensioners will get a bit of a discount on tonight's meal all right mate the comeback kids have come back and the smell is delicious it smells really good it's a good talk it's about tommy had a good smell around here it doesn't smell like rotten eggs which is just a nice thing three three two one go yum this is the moment of truth this is what i've been waiting for this is a new recipe and just want to see what it's turned out and if the smells i need to go by guys we're onto a winner here look at that i made them extra sloppy for you [Laughter] there's meat there's cheese there's pickles jump in here jump in some of this meat pie what did you call it a deconstructed meat sack the constructed meat say that looks good doesn't it it looks beautiful you know what it's actually better for the other side now once i turn it up guys don't don't judge a book by its cover early look at that you can see the tomato put it in the bowl quick it's actually really good that is so much better than it looks guys considering that the rotten egg went into the earlier one don't even talk about the rotten egg right now that is long forgotten about mate that was uh that was old shawn the neutral one just tasted like cheeseburgers deconstructed meat sack has got the tick of approval i reckon i might get a second will help in this one yep sit beside the fire and uh really just enjoy that because it's been it's been a big night outstanding mate all right sit around the fire enjoy that one that sounds good lovely well this has got to be one of sean's more insane recipes and i for one thought it was a cracker tracks and knowing jock i'm willing to bet some hectic rocks are going to be on the menu [Music] you wouldn't normally call jock's rig a super tourer but i gotta say that setup is really coming along well i gotta be honest i'm not exactly the one who's known for having the best cam setup usually i chuck a swag and a fridge on the tray and that's me for the trip but recently i've done a few upgrades to luxy and check this out even sean the great sean whale has put his swag underneath the awning on the luxie there are two things i never thought i'd say but anyway i've also put a roof top 10 on the lexi as well now you probably have heard me carry on before about how important weight is in this vehicle i'm really conscious about how much weight i put on but this tent is just over 50 kilos and even on some of the tough tracks we've done it's still driving very nicely with the tenon as well and the other thing is it's super comfortable inside all my bedding is in there the whole time last night it absolutely bucketed down i was nice and warm and comfy inside the best part is it take about two minutes to pack up i think i could get used to the super tourer life a big down the tracks calls for a good breakfast and over the talk at 200 things are getting pretty fancy well this is a little bit different for me um i figured i've got a redarc 1000 watt pure silent wave inverter and i wouldn't mind putting it to you so i'm going to do a bit of a breakfast on the go like a smoothie right yeah it's not every day you um think about taking a blender but this is quite compact got some oats got some banana got all the stuff on edf for brekkie just can't believe just how versatile having inverter in the back of your car lets you do so many things i've used power tools off this one before but uh a smoothie that's a new one for me but i reckon that might be a bit of a staple for old soot [Music] the plan for today is to check out another hidden yellow classic that really amps up the challenge over the tracks people usually come here to try out and of course later on i've promised to sort dinner and i can guarantee the boys will not be disappointed with what i got planned wickety split we've got camp packed up and are ready for the next challenge [Music] mate got another track on the cards today but uh looks like a bit of an overgrown uh trail to get there this one's called tree root loop track have you done this before i had a feeling you're gonna pick this track it's low slow and super technical mate um it's got you written all over it 100 and my favorite thing rocks and there's plenty of them i'm excited mate you lead the way and uh i'll try and keep up no one's driven this in a while i need a bit of momentum for that step wow pre-root loop track is hidden away further up the valley but once again even the access track proves to be pretty spicy just as you'd expect jock makes his drive look pretty flawless well almost i ripped the flare off [Music] there we go that [Music] might be showing its age here with lockers leaking and soot billowing but once again the old rig is just powered on through we've come to expect nothing less than perfect drives from pete let's see how he goes this is the bit bouncy boys easy done oh my god hang on hey is that not a perfect 10 out of 10 drive what's happened we're not on dusty's what's this i just you know that's more like it yeah usually peter's flaws but he did stroller there so i'll give him a 9 out of 10. that's going to bring down his average quite significantly jocko i'll give him an ultimate nine out of ten i'm here all day thanks let's go as we get close to the start of the track things are starting to get a lot tighter you can see a lot of these tracks have been grown over a little bit it shows that not a lot of people have been coming down here because of cobin things there's been a lot of restrictions on people getting out in the outdoors and exploring and i want to put it out there to you guys football drivers to get out and explore your local tracks because if you don't drive them you're going to lose them nature will literally take over the track things like bushfires and things like that you need these tracks open so you can get access to these parts of the bush so you know i say get out there and go and drive your local tracks and make sure that they're open clean logs up all that sort of stuff we're going to open these tracks up today can't wait a few years back this place was devastated by bushfire but now there's been months of rain and everything is growing like mad and the undergrowth hides huge washouts just like this one it's for a cutout in the track it's insane it's like a little winch wall you just gotta dip down into it and then i guess just give it a bit of gas to get back up the other side got to give it a little bit of bunty roomed out soot your way out that washout suddenly became a lot more committing once you park a big rig in it and in this case it's going to be easier to just winch tim up and over rather than digging onto the bank [Music] [Music] it's a similar situation for the 200 with not enough clearance around the front bar to make driving it possible on a winch out isaac's really made sure that rear bumper is going in the bin [Music] tell you what i'm a little jealous of seano right now it'd be a heck of a lot nicer pushing through this tight scratchy undergrowth with a raptor body coat and sean can just push his forward drive hard without having to worry about the paint work might be getting more smoky by the day but that raptor coating still looks mint [Music] up ahead is the start of the main climb of the tree root loop and once again it looks like jock has picked an absolute doozy for us this is tree root loop track it's an awesome little pinch lots of rocks and if you get tighter rocks there's more rocks it's my favorite type of wheeling it's nice and slow and technical wheel placement is everything really knowing where your tires are at all times can really help you get through so it should be a good bit of fun for the boys see how we go eh jock's leading the charge and showing us exactly the kind of wheeling the lux was built for low and slow and super precise for the rest of us things are a little less well graceful up front is a mega double stepper and jocko's pointing right up it these rocks here on tree root loop track are known as the bridal steps and the trick here is to get some heat into the tyres to make the rubber a bit more sticky and to rub a bit of that dampness off the rocks but perfect tire placement is also key let's go back a bit if you want jock i'll put a rock down there for you okay unfortunately the luxie has just spat those rocks right out leaving all the tires scrabbling against their own rock step that's it that's it constantly baby come on the luxie is up but it turns out the next step is even bigger how's my shaft is all right you're not even at your tail shaft yet you've got a big spring hanger in the way sort of thing like a mouth i just like that sound once again it's out with the rocks but turns out jock is pretty firmly hung up i'm just sitting on the slide as i it's just teetering yeah you're just on your sliders hey uh maybe we'll just pull it up it's not often i've seen the winch on the luxie come out in anger but in this case it was a good call if we pushed much further the tail shaft would have been at risk joke's been going through a few of those recently and i reckon you'll be happy to avoid snapping another one okay time for sodium to make its way up to the bridal steps but while i barely noticed it in the luxie because of the narrower cab this little v section is actually super tight with the passenger side pushing right up against a nasty just touch the paintwork that one did [Music] after seeing me struggle on the big rock step the other boys have decided to choose a different line up the left sweetie might be getting on in age but damn this old rig still surprises me and the fulcrum shots underneath are helping the 80 flex like a champion loves it this is wild this track big rocks everywhere let's see what tacos brought us here tim is the next one lining up the climb but something isn't right with the passenger front wheel timber's just coming up here and um he's getting no drive to this this wheel um which is kind of kind of weird because he's got both lockers on and uh there's just no drive and the whole wheel is sort of shaking so we think something might be a miss maybe it's the hub we're just taking the hub apart now open it up jocko what's what's behind there mate hopefully it's just the engagement gear on the hub and not a cv no it's it's broken yeah it's a hub it's a little oh it is the it is the hub that's that's good news it means i need to change the cv and we can literally do this with the tyre still on if we're clever on a track like this a broken hub could be a show stopper but fortunately tim's come well prepared hallelujah i'm just lucky i suppose that team has got the spares now i suppose that comes with experience but if you've got yourself a solid axle four-wheel drive i'd definitely be packing some freewheeling hubs as well as the cvs and axles they're sort of the sacrificial parts of the driveline they're things that most likely to break when you're doing this sort of stuff so we're out of out of trouble mate in most cases when freewheeling hubs explode it's usually this inner hub gear that'll fail in extreme cases it can actually destroy the entire hub but luckily for us it's just got a few cracks in it so we're going to swap the gears out and chuck a new hub assembly back on that's it that's it and just like that tim is back on the move now straighten up straighten up this next bit tim is going to feel a bit wild but just trust me i trust you running down go back and right hand down we'll try that again europe pretty much navigating these rocks is like trying to pick a line through a minefield but slowly and surely the 79 is crawling up one bar at a time baby this v section though is gonna be a super tight fit that's it that's okay keep an eye on that passenger side bank things can get a little hairy tim's almost up and out but at the last moment the rear smacks into the bank hey your toolboxes are strong you just like the whole way skull dragging across that rock and it's fine how good of rocks they are actually good when you can get over it that's it with that initial challenge done tim is into the second half of the challenge and the big 79 just eats it up hard right hand down that's it that's it it'll start to feel better in a sec stay on that mate beautiful that's it that's it touch the left that's it beautiful swing hard right that was awesome that's sick rock crawling 79. wow that was unreal so good now if you thought taking a 79 up here is committing how about a 200 with only basic mods the exhaust system on this is going to be smacking a lot of rocks on the way up but torkit builds their exhaust for terrains like this and being made with 304 stainless steel well it'll take more than a few rocks to phase it beautiful our biggest concern here is a 200 getting hung up on the rocks and being lower and wider than the other rigs we're opting for a different option through the v section coming up here it's super tight and the 200 is quite a wide vehicle so just trying to get it lined up perfectly so that we can winch through safely without venting any of the panels the aim here is to get on the winch before the vehicle hits the v and that way minimize any roll into the rock bank well that's a theory anyway let's see how it goes it's close to that rock now touch your right that's it right right would you look at the width of that rig oh this is going to be so tight it's a bit drive bit of drive real slow the 200 is almost through but once again that rear section just can't quite clear the bank [Music] all right stop there well one hug did you hit the side well there's a few fresh marks on the rocks and on the 200 but all in all that could have been a lot worse and on the top section isaac pulls out a killer drive sending the big rig home with relative ease we're gonna say that's pretty darn amazing to see a big 200 series here with basic mods drive this track pete's up next um we're not gonna try and spot him we're gonna see what he does i reckon he's gonna make this one look pretty good if you ever wanted to just sit back and watch a drive this is a classic one right here and pete doesn't put a foot wrong the whole way up very good very good nice work pete that was one heck of a drive the line jocko is going to take up there that's that's the ticket i like watching your car work mate the old soot monster doesn't always make things look easy but man it gets the job done now here's a question for you ticked off the list definitely not one to attempt without bar work a winch and some patient mates but a heck of a lot of fun and we saw some pretty impressive drives today hey tim got a copy mate sure do big fella what's up i'm very impressed two things firstly you push the 79 through that track and secondly you weren't just close to that rock with the canopy mate you drag your toolboxes along a rock for a long way and it's still in one piece yeah i'm blown away what this big 79 can do and the toolboxes solid as a rock eh i've always been worried about those things and whether they're gonna you know last on tough tracks but my full testimony of the product you know i get my vehicle service up at pinnacle four-wheel drive and when i was the other day picking up um i noticed i were installing a mitts canopy yeah mate so we've got installers uh all over the place darwin brisbane melbourne perth even a couple in nz and now we're shipping to the states that's been going for 12 months that's awesome that's great for the mitz brand mate now they're right around the country now you don't just need to go to newcastle where you guys are based to um go and see the product and get it fitted to your vehicle yeah you can actually get in and have a look at it and not just by sight unseen which is awesome a true aussie success story might be made and it's no wonder why people are you know trying to get their hands on them all around the country and even the world thanks mate that's real flattering obviously we're real proud of what we're doing down there oh that sounds good i've got a ripper cam spot planned for the boys tonight but for that we're going to head back out of the tracks to make some miles further inland things are starting to look a little suspicious as jock informs us we're going to have to air up to get to our camp tonight [Music] we're soon following his lead to a little town up the road by the name of narraga home of course to a classic watering hole the neriga hotel and jocko seems to be leading us right to it ah stop it now it's all starting to make sense mate you're very excited about this campsite i was made i was and you'll see why very shortly oh what a little classic hub campsites don't get much better than this boys [Music] turns out jocko's camp for the night is right at the back of the pub neriga offers some basic camping on the grass out the back with the pub next door none of us here are complaining in fact i don't think i've ever seen a more efficient camp set up you'd almost think we're rushing looking pretty sharp man i reckon mate not a bad spot i've have been looking around your rig and i can't see too much camping gear or too much food and i'm a bit worried because tonight don't you worry about that don't worry about that mate i'll cook you yeah how's this i'll cook you anything you want as long as it's a steak or a palming well i could deal with that you could deal with that yeah see i always deliver mate so how about i get a sneaking suspicion where this is going and i'm not even mad it'll come as no surprise that jocks decide to outsource the cooking tonight but you couldn't choose a better place to do it there's nothing like a bit of country hospitality and we're soon enjoying a few frothies from the bar we've got one more day ahead of us on the tracks but for now jocko's come through with a ripper of a feed as promised you've got to say jocko you've outdone yourself thank you i know i hope you like the steak cook to perfection i i just like how you've served it yeah i bought them bury my drawers through the gravy boat and everything mate that's looking after the boys that's all i try to do how good is this hey well cheers boys that deserves a big old cheers jocko you've come through with a good mate it's an absolute pleasure to be able to give back to communities like this and throwing a few dollars over the bar while meeting a few local legends is the perfect way to make the most of a weekend away [Music] it's a bright but chilly morning up here in narraga and we're warming up for our final day on the tracks it's pretty clear at this point that when it comes to cooking for the crew jock's pretty much a write-off lucky for him tim stepped up to the mark and quickly has the camp kitchen going and a pretty hearty brekky on the go [Music] joko mate you've lucked out again but now it's time for you to take the reins and show us a good last day [Music] [Music] yeah well might be known for tracks like monkey gum and six stage but if touring is more your thing there's also plenty of amazing places to check out like this one right here at tianjara falls [Music] there's no doubt it's pretty darn spectacular but sean seems less than impressed wait it's a pretty good view for oh sorry is everything all right why do i feel like i'm gonna fall over i never fall over on the ground tell you what though if this is not your cup of tea don't worry i've got another local landmark to show the boys later that'll blow their socks off soon enough we're back onto the tracks of yowl and inbound to one of my favorite four-drive playgrounds of the area where there's plenty of options for four drivers of all abilities to test themselves and their rig the rain is never far away in these parts there's plenty of fun to be had along the way up ahead is a huge rock garden packed full of challenging lines and it's the perfect spot for some technical driving well how good is this this is the rock garden down at yowell and what's so cool about it it's a little choose your own adventure sort of playground you've got multiple little rock hills all different skill levels required jocko just found out his lockers aren't working yet he's still pretty keen to give the big boy line a go so he's going to come up here and just probably scrabble his way up and try and rely on the vehicle to flex because when you've got no lockers you really want those tyres on the ground so he'll be trying to pick the perfect line to just get his way up here and then all the boys can literally choose whatever line they want and after seeing jocko then i'll make up my mind i noticed yesterday that i was having a few problems with the compressor that activates my locker and then it died completely before the end of the trip the reason my lockers aren't working is because the compressor that activates them has failed again when i get home i'm going to swap it out for a brand new unit and i've also got some ideas to make a backup system if this happens again without the benefit of lockers jock's got to focus on picking the perfect line that doesn't cause any loss of traction because an unlocked vehicle's drive will always go to the wheel with the least amount of resistance and as you can see it's a lot harder than it looks i i thought you'd be up by now to be honest this is the first step that's all right that's all right gonna get your sister to have a go mate [Laughter] doco's not one to give up easily though and he soon backed down and found another line up a track like this is the perfect place to test your skills without lockers and jocko has absolutely nailed it easy the round of applause not very often in the four-wheel drive game all the boys go for a round of applause that's probably deserved yeah unlock challenge i think i put my fan through my radiator but that's okay fork turns tires oh i might have to check that pete's making a pretty good show of this but i reckon that zd30 gu could really benefit from a set of reduction gears in the transfer case just to help it crawl a bit more and keep the torque down low so he doesn't need to ride the clutch not enough jail i reckon i'll get good at it one day you know what i mean even so though pete soon enough got the measure of this one and it's monster on through wow right at the end he just lets us know that he's in control that was awesome come on timbo big 79 right now mate that's it this one could be a huge challenge for a stiff leaf sprung 79 but look at that tim is absolutely nailing it and damn does that thing sound sweet beautiful [Applause] yes celebrated early i celebrated early i've been there and done that jogging don't worry much lovely lovely lovely body that my rebar would have fallen off i reckon straight up baby big old soot showing us how it's done that was really amazing i didn't expect to drive that to be honest with you i could feel those tyres just ripping i've got them down to about 18 psi at heck on this sort of train i'd normally even go a little bit lower but i still felt those tyres just grip and i think that is a difference just that aggressive sort of pattern and that sort of traction combined with a couple of lockers get a right foot that'll do it every time there's plenty of different line choices around the rock garden and isaac's found his own challenge on the way to the top that's it well done a little bit of a shake well done right well done we've had so much fun over the few days in yowel and the famous flex track is the perfect way to wrap up the tracks [Music] [Music] oh yeah [Music] for a stockish rig the 200 actually has quite a bit of flex and isaac seems like he's been having an absolute blast testing out the new talk it's set up flexi girl look at that really lovely with that our track list for this trip is pretty much done and dusted but as convoy leader i reckon it's my duty to find just one more landmark to visit and the one i've got in mind is an absolute ripper of a spot and one of the largest examples of its kind anywhere in the world it's a bit of a trek to find this one up the ride in rutherford but this one is worth the wait and just look at that have you ever seen a spud the size of that what is this what do you reckon boys pretty cool would you say hey yeah i mean like you think about it you got the big banana you got the big mandarin i think there's a prawn big spud got a ticket off the bucket list surely boys also the other thing is as a young piper that's me where you going [Laughter] [Laughter] jocko mate that's it i'm taking you off convoy leader duties and soon we found a spot that is actually a little bit spectacular [Music] the south coast is crammed with amazing spots to visit just like this and we've had an absolute blast [Music] like every single time i come down to southern new south wales i'm blown away not only by just how cool the tracks are and the variety of different tracks you've got but landscapes like this mate so many little hidden gems and the best part is you got spectacular drives to find places like this no matter where you turn it's absolutely stunning it really is right and all the little secret hot spots you showed us absolutely fabulous with the exception of probably the big potato didn't need to drive my life absolutely i don't know about that but we've taken a variety of different vehicles everyone's had an absolute ball and it goes to show doesn't matter what you drive a new tourer a really modified one or something that's on its last legs you're gonna have a lot of fun down here definitely mate you can come down here spend a weekend with your mates see places like this or will some hard tracks and have just as much fun so it's an awesome part of the world sounds good guys if you ever get a chance come down to southern new south wales the yellow region in particular go and test you and your four wheel drive out and trust me you won't regret it don't go anywhere folks because coming up is a full drive 24 7 outtakes i think jocko is going to give me that he's going to give it to me for a little bit there that sounds a bit wrong mate paint making it look way too easy as usual oh my god you're
