hey Internet welcome back to the one channel so what I've got here is some m855a1 and this is the Army's replacement for green tip so it's still a 62-grain 5 5 6 round but as you can see here next to a green tip round it looks a little different it's got an exposed steel tip they call it like an arrowhead and then below that it has a copper slug with a jacket on it so different bullet construction from the standard green tip which is a lead bullet with a steel penetrator tip and a copper jacket it's loaded a little bit hotter one one other thing that I noticed is that the so I can turn this around for you there you go now you can see that the primer is actually staked and the they say that it's loaded 13% higher chamber pressure but I have not seen any published velocity numbers and they don't really publish well they don't have probably a whole lot about it but um today we have a an AR 500 level three plate this is level three steel body armor that's rated for 76 to NATO up to 2,800 feet per second which means that it's not really rated for any 556 anyway and the reason that you see so many holes in it is because I have shot it multiple times with em 193 and 193 is fast enough to go through this plate but like I said it exceeds the rating if you want protection against em 193 you can check out the low the level 3 + plates they usually offer protection like that so the mark that you can see right here that's from green tip it's actually from green tip out of a 22 inch barrel unlike the 16 inch barrel that I've got right here and this M&P 15 some of these other marks are from m193 out of the 16 inch barrel but essentially today what we're going to do is maybe I'll flip the plate over we got some room down here at the bottom I'll shoot the green tip first and then we'll try the m855a1 ii and see if it lives up to the penetration and higher velocity hype that uh you know that everybody on the internet says I've got the chronograph so I can chronograph both rounds so we'll get to see the difference between each 62-grain round and let me clamp the plate up and we will take a couple shots and see if there's a difference that mark right there above that hole that's where we just hit it with the 62-grain green tip we came in at twenty nine twenty three feet per second which is just about right for sixty two green green tip out of a sixteen inch barrel so now I'm going to load in the m855a1 and see if we can get some penetration yeah so I think there may be something to he claims a better penetration that hole right there is from the m855a1 it had no trouble going through the level three steel body armor and what's interesting is that it was only about thirty feet per second faster it's 20 962 feet per second so I know people have made I've heard people make claims that it's loaded really hot and it beats up guns and stuff but at least the two rounds that I compared today had a very similar velocity so pretty cool I still have a few more rounds of it so if you guys have any suggestions on what else you want to see the m855a1 enhanced performance round shot in to go ahead and leave a comment thanks for watching the wound channel cut you guys next time
