The New Close Quarters 50BMG!!!

thank you guys so much for coming i'm really excited to see you here today hey paul first of all i just want to say congrats to everyone who has made it to the end of this 10 week course you guys have shown great responsibility in taking care of your actions and as you all know also at the end of this course now you are eligible to have one firearm that is your everyday care you've shown that you can resist the temptations to buy more and more guns so i thought it'd be a really fun activity for us all to go around the table and show what your everyday carry is let's start with you smiley hi guys i am proud to say that i have not touched or even looked at a gun in two years when i heard about the new edc world i knew exactly what i was going to carry nice job smiley we are so proud of you and your accomplishments that's really great rufus how about you buddy check this out my heavens oh man this relieves most of my urges i carry it everywhere with me for bears from mountain lions i carry it even to bed well thank you for sharing rufus as long as that is your only gun then that does qualify matt i have to ask what are you carrying glock 19. all right guys it's been great good oh my god matt i have another 10 week course that's starting up with some new uh these are sweet that that that's not mine i'm pretty sure that's smiley's welcome to demolition ranch well as you can see there's some targets set up but before we get to that i want to show you this this is like my worst nightmare come true this is a cerbu firearms rn 50. so it is 50 because it is chambered in 50 bmg the same caliber that barretts are chambered in the giant giant barrett sniper rifles this tiny little package is a 50 bmg and what's interesting about it is it's a break open single shot and the breech opens by unscrewing it it just has a cap and you put the cartridge right in there and you screw it back on here and it's ready to go this has a little thing right here where the hammer hits and so you fire it that slams into that fires around it's super simple and you might think why would you make a gun like that and it's to make it simple and cheap this thing is the most inexpensive 50 bmg you can buy it is just over one thousand dollars for comparison's sake a barrett m82a1 a1 is like nine thousand ten thousand dollars and the m107 a1 is like 13 14 000 so it makes it where it's much easier to own a 50 bmg it also has a much shorter barrel you can get this thing with like 24 and i think 30 inch barrels they have a 30 inch bull barrel if you want to be really accurate with it i decided that i wanted the smallest one they had it's an 18 inch barrel so this thing is my close quarter combat single shot 50 bmg for room clearing also mark surbu has a youtube channel i will link that description as well mark sober who said this thing is crazy loud and it makes sense it's a 50 bmg which is giant and we're shooting it out of an 18 inch barrel which is short never shot at 50 dbmg out of one of my berries with a barrel this small so i'm gonna do some earplugs and some ear muffs still a little nervous maybe i should yeah that's actually we could we could even i can't even hear my own thoughts so like before you open up the breach you slide 50 bmg and i think just like that this is the first time i have ever loaded this thing tighten her down things just [ __ ] it okay we are ready to fire there is a safety a thumb style safety just like an air 15 here so you can make it safe um to open up that breech a little button there i have a vortex red dot on here just mounted it no idea if it's going to be accurate or not we're going to find out i'm going to shoot that big piece of steel over there oh this is probably going to hurt firey holy cow oh my god kentucky ballistics i think this thing might be more of a kick than your elephant gun just say i'm just throwing that out there there's my hit right there we'll adjust try it again because the test we're gonna do i need to be fairly accurate after you shoot you unscrew the cap and then pull this out probably with like a screwdriver i adjusted the sight a little bit let's see if we're closer now i didn't think about this my muzzle break was touching the tree right here almost knocked a lot of the bark off the tree sorry mother nature round three i'm just gonna lean on the tree so i don't blast it too bad i need to come way up with the sights okay i'm gonna keep cranking it this thing blasts you in the face when you're shooting it like my barrett's the muzzle break is another foot or more out there and so all the stuff goes around you all the concussion this thing's just like it doesn't hurt it's just like whoa i don't know how you're supposed to do this uh mark sober's probably gonna hate me i couldn't get out my fingers so i got these pops right out so it should come with a set of pliers mark just fyi not only was that a pretty good center mass shot we killed the mannequin that was sitting over next to it just don't worry about that guy all right that was our last shot i think we should do a rapid fire test so i'll load one fire it unload reload fire it see how fast it takes to shoot two shots okay we're gonna start unloaded i'm not even gonna really try to hit i'm gonna try to hit but if i don't hit no no not a big deal i just wanna try to load all right it should be unloaded ready go the zombies are coming and they're big that's a hit okay okay we gotta reload we gotta go fast come on there's another one coming and he's in a tank in like two seconds basically two i think the timer said two at the end i don't mean to be too hasty with picking the gun that i'm gonna use for self-defense from here on out but under stress i hit there and there at about 50 yards with an 18-inch 50 bmg like you know what would stop an intruder a 50 bmg at 50 yards i could i could do it so the story with these balloons a few years ago 22 plinkster guy on youtube you guys probably heard of him one of my old buddies he made a video where he got a 22 long rifle and wanted to see how many balloons it would go through he set up 100 balloons in a line just like this and he shot it and it went through 62 balloons he popped 62 balloons one thing that i learned from his video is balloons sway a lot so he had some that like swayed out of the way of the bullet and it missed like tin in a row and then hit some behind it so i wanted to keep one from swaying so we have these little rocks taped to the bottom of them so they're all weighted down plus we're not a big field like him we are kind of in a little a little valley with a lot of trees and there's not much wind today so i think we can get lucky and not have these things moving if i miss anything i'm going to say it's because the wind and the sun and mother nature wasn't with us but he had 100 set up we set up a lot more we have 178 balloons set up in a line here and i'm going for the world record of the most balloons popped with a gun at a single time so we have them pretty straight i think it's straight enough just like me i'm pretty straight straight enough as soon as i said it wasn't windy the wind picked up you can see them kicking some of them dropped the rocks some of them just are swinging with the rocks and i need them to be completely still so my plan is i need to aim for the one at the very end they're in a pretty straight line the problem is i can't see the line when i get right here this is what i'll be looking at to aim down there i can't see past the first two balloons so my plan is to kind of come right here right up over and aim all the way down at the last balloon there with my red dot because the red dot is like three inches above the actual bore of the barrel so i'll have it red dot pointing down there and the barrel will be right here firing through the tops of all these balloons ideally all the way down to the last one the 170th balloon down there this is like when evil knievel jumped the grand canyon and they were all waiting the anticipation was building waiting for the wind to be right all the conditions were perfect had everything rides on this okay we're waiting wind needs to settle just a little bit before we take this shot because this took forever to set up if i shoot it we miss half big fail big fail this is for everything i can't let 22 poinster be better than me at this all right oh this is really hard to aim firing oh that was so close to all of them all right i'm actually pretty happy with that that could have gone a lot worse whoa yes all right let's go check it out looks like we just have a few left at the end we had 170 total balloons this is what i was talking about where it starts they're they're wobbling or it's out so like this one was just a little bit to one side didn't get hit so we have one two kill these three three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven so we got 159 total balloons in one shot that's like two and a half times what plankster did basically i'm two and a half times as cool as you 22 blinkster found the bullet too i tried to protect this tree this is a nice tree here so i put i put two steel plates here i missed the plate by like one inch it went one inch down and came out right here that 50 was still moving which means it was dropping which kind of makes sense i mean bullets drop and then this thing was hitting a lot more resistance than normal air so it probably was dropping a little bit faster so i should have aimed higher all right let's go i'm going to go blow them all up again we're going to try to i'm just i'm just kidding we're not doing that this just in we actually i was wrong we had 178 balloons to start with and with 11 left we have a hundred and we shot 167 balloons so that is the official record your move 22 plinkster and and the uh the guinness guy was just here yeah he just left he was here he recorded it though it is an official world record it is in the books all official all legit and we did it with the surbu rn 50 my brand new tiny little baby 50 bmg which is probably going to be either my truck gun or my nightstand gun now i haven't decided which one To be clear to everyone: RCMP has stated they classify projectile power based on the SAAMI test spec for that round, not that your particular rifle happens to be under 10kJ. So regardless of the firearm, the RCMP (and by extension, the government/courts who is using the RCMP policy as their basis for law) consider any 50 BMG firearm to be prohibited.

Probably not, seeing how it went through so many balloons it will be prohibited, restricted if it's disabled or rechambered for .22 short!

A 18" barrel will move a 700gr bullet at a maximum of 2271fps, which is just a hair over 10KJ.

Looking at the data, it's about 35fps per inch of barrel, so a 15" barrel should do the trick.

Anyone want to got splitsies on a lot of 15" 50BMG rifles?

I only watched about 8 minutes because it was very boring, so I don’t know if it said it was under 10 somewhere? But i doubt its possible to have a 50bmg “not capable” of being over 10 kJ

I'm not a very smart man, but I am confident that I could design the breach a little better so it's not such a PITA to extract a round. Unless there is some regulation based on the pressures of the 50 BMG which requires a minimum number of threads, or which requires some baked-in inconvenience to limited the number of rounds which can be fired in a given amount of time... I don't see how they came to the threaded cap conclusion...

Not possible. 50 BMG can exceed 10kJ, therefore the entire caliber is totally banned. No exceptions.
