hey how are you doing welcome to Facebook livestreams about quarter freight here I hope that you are doing well just making sure the things that gets set up know hey how are you doing happy Wednesday it's about eight o'clock um thank you so much for taking time to join this first live stream here on Facebook we're gonna call this one the answer bar it's 8 p.m. here in western New York where I'm sitting so uh I hope you you had a good day we're gonna talk about fusion 360 now these lives so you might have seen the last change that I do on YouTube they are about 30 minutes longer so we're gonna kind of dive in the back a little bit here I want to do these time streams for beginners so if you are fairly new to Fusion all if you like I think many kind of like still unsure about certain things that's what what we want to cover in in this live stream so just you know lay back if you have any questions I will definitely make sure that I start what I'm doing and try to to answer them again keep this on kind of like the beginner level making sure that nobody kind of like gets thrown into something that they can't handle so with that what are we gonna do today so we're gonna model out today what we're gonna start out with model enough today is I I just hung a new bookshelf is the thing you can kind of see it in the bag and I use that I kinda like these brackets here to hold it up and that is probably a good beginner model to kind of like to kind of get going on I know that you probably have your project project that you would like to start modeling up and it's probably a little bit more complicated than then a bracket but you know to get the fundamentals down and that's we're gonna start with today is I think that this is a good start and then next week we'll find something else that is a little bit more you know not necessarily much more challenging but just really want to give you guys an opportunity to kind of like get back to some of the basic things and make sure we kind of like that everything if think I like straight now I can see that we get Isaac here Isaac from Mexico good to see you buddy so um again if you have any questions this is definitely how the livestream where we will make sure that we we kind of like address some of those so with that said let's jump in to true fusion 360 now fusion 360 I have in the I think in the description area you will find if you want to learn more about fusion 360 fusion 360 is a product on our desk it is free for hobbyists and startups so hey you see we got Robert Young here too good to see you Robert so if you are never really seen a fusion before you can click that link and you can go and check it out so like I said it is you did say a free product for obvious and for smaller startups and very affordable if you if you if you kind of like a bigger company want to use it it's a full-blown cannon camp system so it can do a lot of things there's a modern environment that's what we're gonna be today to to model up this bracket here and what we're gonna spend most of our time I think on these Facebook live streams but also be aware of that there is some other tools they're surfacing the sheet metal rendering environment animation simulation and 2d drawings now if you are looking for a lot more of this kind of information definitely recommend that you check out the YouTube channel we just completed livestream number 91 there so there is a lot of different topics to settings that I normally like to handle right off the bat but I'm starting out inside of fusion one is I don't like this grid to be on all the time and you can really just walk down here to the bottom click on the grip and snap section and you can you can click you can turn off the layout grid the other thing I do is I go up here on this is called the viewcube up here right click and I change this author graphic to perspective with Auto faces that's kinda like the two only things that I normally change in side of fusion so from this point on um you know this you've got some people in here will appreciate it again any questions that as we are going through here just shoot them out in the chat I'm keeping a constant eye on it and we will try to answer them as we go so again Fusion absolute beginners let's start out modeling up this kind of bracket here so first thing that is important to remember when you using Fusion is everything starts with a 2d sketch that then gets extruded into 3d space and that's kind like what gives it this free DS shape now this 2d sketch you can either sketch it on a face all on a plane now right now we don't have anything on the canvas what means that we don't have any face to sketch on so we have to use a plane now over here on the left you kind of like got a some different features over here and one of them you see there's a little light bulb a constraint on the origin here by left clicking on that one and it shows up with these three planes here they counter with samples the viewcube up here to say hello to Darren from Vancouver good to have you here man so we will select one of these planes to sketch on first because like I said we we don't have we don't have any face to sketch on yet Randy good to have you here man where can I get my fusion t-shirt well the shirt that I having on right now that one I purchased from Instagram my email shoot me an email if you want this shirt you can purchase that one the regular fusion fries fusion 360 t-shirts that I wear on the YouTube channel or maybe also right here are the live streams those I normally get them at like trade shows that's where I have have gotten mine so like right now or the state university is going on let's produce some t-shirt there and then also like open houses and things like that is probably the best spot to get them I don't have any I don't have any here so I will send you one okay so we're gonna start sketching on this plane these planes here so I'm gonna go up here and click on the create sketch icon up here click on that and then I'm gonna select a plane now you will see like I said they resemble up here so you kinda like can decide the orientation of your pot but there is no rule on what plane you should select now if you were gonna do this bracket and cam later on somebody might want it to be rotated in a certain way but just be aware of there's no specific rules I'm gonna select this plane here that kind of assembles the top plane up here and as soon as I do that you'll see my screen turn like normal to its spun around and we got the sketch palette over here that kind of like tells us we are within this 2d sketch environment now one of the hardest when you're working with any CAD system is you know what you're gonna end up in our case we know we kind of like got a model up this bracket so it is easy to know whether we're gonna get to but sometimes they're gonna be hot on paper too kind of like figuring out where should I start but I recommend you do is to kind of like look at the pod that you're gonna model up and kinda like think about what is the main shape meaning in this case here we have like a big triangle that could be you know a good a good shape if we were looking at this be a model beautiful Canadian beer then you maybe were looking more at like the outer shape so think about like what is the main shape of it and and then use that that's a good excuse to get my beer in my hand so I am gonna go with the triangle shape here so again we're ready to start sketching now you will find all the different sketching tools are up here I like to use shortcuts when I can even when I'm a new user I think that learning these shortcuts right from the get-go just it's just a lot better to go ahead so you will see here that we have the line tool and that's what I'm gonna start out using and you will see that it's an L right next to it so instead of clicking through the left plague and click here I'm just gonna hit L on my keyboard as soon as you do that look at my cursor it kind of chains and got that line tools and it tells me place the first point so now I'm gonna kind of like Sketch up that triangle so I'm gonna click and and again starting out we kind of like had that plane we selected but this origin we turned up up here so I Mexican last time I sketch in to that old and it's almost like a nail in space so I'm gonna hop over and you will see my my cursor kinda like chosen from a a cross shape crosshair shape into a squares I'm going to click ones left click once and you will see that my line tool starts and I get like some dimensions and things like that so now I can go up here and start sketching now I know we'll just get something close to what I want and then I'm going to put some dimensions and something called constraints over here on afterwards so I'm just gonna throw a line straight up here left click one more time move over or something over here left click again and then we always try to go for a closed sketch so we're trying to close the sketching again so when I move back to our original starting point and left click again now when I do that you would like to see that we get like a shadow in here that tells us that it's fully closed what means that it's now ready to get turned into a 3d shape however these lines up here are all blue what means that they're under defined and what under define means is if right now if you look at my cursor you will see that I am still in that line command if I hit escape once my cursor turns into like a normal personal so now it's kind of like that standard normal curve you normally have now if I grab this corner here I can start dragging this rectangle this triangle around and that's not really their tent instead there's an account like they lock it down so nobody kind of drags it by a mistake and then we will we will work with it from there so to do that there's there's a couple of different tools we can use ones is these different constraints that is over here and fusion I've actually been smart enough to add a couple of them one you can kind of like see over near the 25 here is a vertical constraint another one if you look over at the corn up here you kind of like have what it looks like a tea across is the perpendicular so it's already added a few in here the other thing we can use is we can use dimension society style now to hit dimensions you're gonna hit d4 dimensionally keyboard so the letter D and you'll see my cursor changes into what is color I get I'm mentioning tool now I can apply a couple of dimensions so I'm gonna come over here and click just on this line once left click move my cursor out and you will see that that dimension appears I'm gonna left click again to place it and now I can actually type in a dimension so I'm gonna type in 100 and hit enter on my keyboard now you will you will see that now this line is black and this line is black but this line is still blue what our target is is to make sure that both all the lines are black that tells us that it's a fully defined scats this is important it's you know it's really the hardest thing in the beginning I actually struggled a lot when I started using CAD back in the early 2000s with this concept of fully defined my sketches I used to work in the manufacturing space and you know you're kind of busy there trying to get things done and this whole thing about have to add that mentions to make it fully defined I was kind of like I'm gonna waste my time with that well I called it my $500 mistake because what happened was I made this part and then at some point I did something bad I came in and by mistake I must have grabbed a car and just moved it and you can see how I just completely changed the geometry of this pipe just by grabbing a calling left drag and move the pot so you want to make sure you're fully defined the sketches for sure alright now I can see we don't want to kind of split up a bunch of people in here really appreciate it don't forget any questions as we're going along here you know throw them in there this is this is the time where I will definitely stop what I'm doing and answer any questions not on the YouTube side and know that I many times address them in the end it's - over my beer all right so let's fully define the sketch so we can now so we can actually extrude something into 3d space we X have two choices right now I could hit D again on my keyboard just like I did before and I could place and I mentioned here and make this one 100 and as you can see when I do that I have now fully defined my sketch we started the sketch down here it has a vertical relationship up this line is perpendicular and it's closed off again and then we have two dimensions 100 100 makes this 45 this would be perfectly awesome to do however if you knew that these two sides should always be the same and you don't need to ever make a change to those you could actually let me just click on this dimension right here and just hit delete on my keyboard I would exit deleted and as soon as I do that then it's back to where I was before I could also choose to go over it so the constraints and down at the bottom here there's excellent called equal and I could choose to click on that equal sign you see how it just kind of like blue click this line and click this line here and I have now just made those two equal what means it escapes again you see how my curse I have the equal sign still next to it if I hit escape I can't like go back to my white cursor so now what that means is that if I change this dimension well then this time actually changes to right so we'll continue that 45 degrees so two different ways to kind of like constrain the model it's really your own choice what you want to do some people will say that the best practice is to have the least amount of dimensions on a popped here all right ah Darren asking good questions once the sketch is fixed in black can you move it on the surface of the plane you can not move it now because when it's fully black means is actually somehow tied down ours is tied down this organ down here you like to see that we have this incident down here if I delete one of those then it would actually be able like this one here be able to move off I can delete the other one delete that one now I can I could I could move it around but but as you can see things now are suddenly turning blue so soon as they're black you cannot but what you can do is you can actually move them to another to another frame so that could be kind of nice let me show you that just in a second that's a good question there so right now it's fully defined it's black it's back to been tied down to the origin so it's fully constrained now we can go in and put some thickness to it exit make it into a 3d right right now it's just free lines of a 2d sketch so to do that there's a neat trick Q on your keyboard bring up something called press pull so hit Q and then you will see how the the pot rotates over so you can't exceed in isometric and if I click inside of the space it will turn blue and I get this arrow I can actually just drag in it and you will now see that it churns it turns into a solid now if you don't want to rotate your model around manually what you can do is you can hold down shift on your keyboard and press down the middle mouse button if you holding down the shift and the middle mouse button then you will actually rotate the model around if you want to see it and kind of like another space so again let me just go out of out of this so again hit Q will get us into press pull it'll take us from 2 D let us make it into 3d I can click on this space in here and I can now add some kind of a thickness either by dragging the handle here or you can type it in so I'm gonna make a 2 millimeters thin this is a pretty thin peace here and again hold down shift middle mouse button because I like rotate around and you can kind of get a good look at that now so Darren asked could we move the sketch while it's fixed and black no not on that surface or that plane but you could move it to another face or plane so we sketched this one on the top plane up here if we go down and right-click so down here we have like this history tree right here's our students catch here's our 3d extrusion you will see this lines going to grow if I right-click on the sketch I get some different options and one of them is we defined this sketch plane so if I click on that I can actually choose another plane to sketch on but could be for example this plane and I have now moved it to that plane okay so just do that again all right click down here hit redefine sketch plane I could move it to that plane here hit OK and I move to that plane so you can move them around to other planes if if you want to this would also be if you wanted to go back and edit our scats we can go down here and right click go up and hit edit sketch and you will see that goes right back into where we where we just was I'm gonna hit over here stop scarce to get out of that and we're back into that isometric view now right now we have that origin turn still turned on we use that before to pick our original plane you can always turn things off over here in the tree so they have a light bulb you'll see that that now goes away and you will also see that a couple of folders has been populated over here one is called bodies and a body is really what we have here it's a 3d model or triangle or ever we have here and then we also have a sketches what is again that original sketch the first triangle we sketch we created so that is is happening over here now at any point when you're working in here you can always of course go up and hit the same icon up here to kind of like save your file out and you know best practice I think here is to to give it some some kind of a name right so we can call this one corner drag it like this and then you can also control where you want to place your your pot in and this kind of like is maybe another live stream another time where we can talk talk about that I'm just going to save icon so that is now saved okay so let's go back to here so what were your X account like skate Sketch up so far it's kind of like that's the two millimeter thickness right there and we kind of like sketched up that triangular shape here kind of the base shape so we have kind of like two walls going up here now somebody will say that this could be done like a sheet metal could have been used for this too right but we're just gonna use this as a modeling practice so let's go ahead and model up these two kind of a sides here and that kind of like takes us back to where we started out originally what was we can either sketch on a face or on a plane but we regularly sketched out there's one sketch here we didn't have a face so we had to sketch on a plane but now holding down shift middle mouse button to rotate now we actually do have a face up here and again really appreciate you guys joining the live stream any questions fro them in the the area they're these Facebook live streams let's try to do these on Wednesday evenings starting at the left 8 p.m. Eastern and these here are meant where I'm answering your questions as we're going along and we're kind of like this is kind of beginner or four fusions of you fairly new diffusion this is the place where you can honestly ask any question you think of and and we will learn we will answer them so now we can start a new sketch should we start our first sketch within our first extrusion now to do those two walls we can start our next sketch so I'm gonna go up and click the same it's true a tool button up here again so click up here but this time instead of selecting the plane like we did first I can select this front face click on that and you will see that just like before it's gonna go normal to me get this sketch palette over here telling us that we are that we are sketching normally now I'm gonna use the line tool again right the petition is you know the key of all learning so again that was the L key on my keyboard okay click L and you will see that the cursor kinda like change this over to that and then I'm just gonna go in here now when I'm hovering over this edge you will see my cursor crosshair changes and that means that futures gonna create a relationship one of these constraints with that ad so I'm sure that in the second so I'm just gonna left click once move up to here you gotta say my thing yes knees coming here move up here with my with my cursor going straight up and then I'm just like before when I sketch the first two lines I'm just gonna up here I'm just gonna left click again and move over and then I'm gonna look what my cursor changes the crosshair changes again I'm gonna click again so what have I got now we'll hit escape to get out of the line command so I exit got you can see that I can't I got a linear a parallel relationship between this ads from our existing triangle to this new line again we got the perpendicular and then you will see if I drag down here these lines these two endpoints are again attached to that line so that was what we did with the crosshair changing now just like we thought we can use dimensions to replace these so we can hit D for dimension and we can go over and we can select this line and this line and we get a dimension here and I'm gonna make that two just like I made the the thickness of the other part so I'm gonna hit enter and you'll see kinda like how that changes again that turns black but this line is still blue because I could still drag that along there so I have to so the trick is if you ever want to find out why something don't buy something is moving just drag a grab a point with your left mouse and just drag it that's how you can kind of like see that you are moving it now we could of course just like before use the equal amount if we think that these two walls will always have the same thickness instead of placing and now that I mentioned remember we just go ahead here we can make these two lines equal and you know then they will have the same the same length equal length this line with this line well we can't do that because we're selective that well you know what let's just place it I mention that deve what I mention here to here and let's make that two just like that so now we kind of like get that wall right there now before when I did a triangle I closed it all off but I actually don't have to crete close these two ends off to be able to use them for extrudes I really just need these two lines if I now to go from the again the sketch environment to the 3d environment if I hit Q again that was the press pole you would like to see and so swim in R now you scroll on the middle you can scroll now if I select that ads right there and grab the arrow you will see that now I am sketching right up that wall so it automatically closes these intersections down here I'm gonna make this 24 so I'm gonna type that in so I'm going to just drag the handle just to kind of like get it that kind of get it going all right let's move on with this party and now I'm like to hold down shift the middle mouse button I kinda like rotate around we can look at at the pot here let's go in the top view if you want to see from the top you can just click over here on the view cube and then kind of see it from the top now one of the things that I've noticed on my part on my bracket is that if you're looking at the ends they're kind of like cut flat they're not shop going out there they kind of like have a flat area here get any questions you've got any questions about this shoot them into to the chat area that's that's the idea of these these answer bar last June whatever we're going to call them it's 8:00 p.m. 8:45 here in western New York so it's okay to drink a Canadian beer yeah so I'm gonna see we got lurch I from Thailand awesome thank you which are great for Johnny yeah so you will see here that that if you look at our model you will see that it exit goes shouts and then I'm just gonna scroll my mouse wheels go in the way I'm I'll it up it got all sharp but I actually do want it kind of flat on the end here so just like we we did before you will see again the history tree that I collect creates down here I can actually continue shift + middle mouse button rotate I can actually continue working with lines and sketches and lines so I'm actually gonna start another sketch and again I'm gonna sketch now where I have faces I'm gonna prefer that so I'm gonna select the sketch up here and then I'm gonna click on the create sketch go down select the top face here it's gonna go nolte so now we're looking from the top you can always keep an eye on that up here on the top hello Roger from Texas thank you so much for joining any questions just fire them into the chat and we'll we'll stop what we're doing and we'll answer answer them I'm gonna do another line and there's something pretty neat I'm gonna do another line it'll make sure that I catch the intersection between the triangle and that first side of the wall there and left click once and I kinda like got that line then I'm just gonna go vertically up and make sure it snaps into the top line now you will see that the turns black again because that was all it needed it is have do perpendicular constraint here it's tied in with a coincident that's what that one was called over there constraint there now the reason that I like to use our cue is because you're getting two different things with this command if I hit cue right now the Scrolls around and I select that little adds right and make sure you don't select the line but I just select the face see the whole face highlights now you've seen before that I dragged the arrow up and just like before we get some material but if I go the other way you see how it turns red now it's actually a cut so now I can make kind of like cut this whole section off here now I just drag the arrow down when I drag the arrow you will see that we kind of like get the dimension type over here very good practice when it comes to working with cuts especially it strikes to go over here on the drop down over here and change it to all if you're just cutting everything away that way we're making sure that we don't have to put it in I mentioned and it just cuts everything off I'm gonna hit OK here and you'll now see that I just kind of created that flat right there now you might say to yourself oh wait a minute there's one in the other end too and yes we can actually do multiple within one so if we go back to our original scats when we made that little that little line segment if we right-click on it and we click Edit sketch and we go back into where we were before so we can see that's where we have that line if I add another line down here where we were missing one before so alpha line make sure I snap into that intersects Parton and over and make sure it's snapping to that line right there now when I get out of the scats hitting stop sketch you will see that nothing changed over here we added in the scats when we did not add it into the XD cut feature so I am going to right click here and hit edit feature and then you will see the one we selected it's sitting right over there as a profile one is selected you can hit the little axe and you can tell like clear out the status and if we now select both ones one there and one over there and then we probably just going to drag the handle to reactivate it make it all through now I kind of like cut those two ends without adding more down here than just one operation so you definitely are combining things all right I can see that Roger I've been following the YouTube videos that's absolutely that is absolutely awesome if you have brand new this is my first live stream here on Facebook I'm planning on doing these live streams Wednesday evenings around a little after 8:00 you know 8:00 at night sitting down relaxing gotta keep this kind of like beginner oriented and not getting too complicated any question you have doing a live stream just throw them in there and we'll start what we're doing or make sure that we answer it so that's your opportunity for that but as Roger says also have live streams on YouTube well 291 we did number 91 today and make sure that you take those out and they kind of like goes from beginner or a little bit more advanced stuff like that all right so our bracket is actually kinda like coming fairly nicely along here I hope this is useful that's really all I don't want to do with these last room is just adding some value through to your day one things what thing we can look at here is there's a couple things we're gonna attack first of all there is some 45s here on each and but then also that's this interesting cut out here because this is really a standout like a tool-and-die that makes this that bends this so you will see that the the intersection down here is kind of like interesting how the corners kind of like relieved is what what you do like I said we could have done this part with the sheet metal tool two that are inside of fusion but this is again like more basic just want to make sure everybody is kind of like feeling comfortable using Fusion to make that bottom believe in there there's a couple of different ways we could handle that but I think the almost the easiest thing to to maybe do is to flip the pot over on the back side over here so we can kind of like see the back side and start a new sketch on that backside so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to create a new sketch and select that back face there now when I do that you will see the pot comic rotates to a oriented view by the way if you go up in this view cube you can click up here and if I left click on these small arrows look how are you kind of like actually rotated around that can be somewhat kind of handy now what I'm going to do to relieve that corner is the thing I'm just gonna create actually just a big circle and just blast that corner out of there it actually probably has a radius and some lines in there but for this case here so to do a circle we could still go up to the drop down we could select some of the different tools up here but we could also just hit the shortcut key what is in this case C so if I click C for circle and I get if I move my mouse around look how it snaps right in now to get a a square out selling them right at the center and now I could just create a circle so I'm gonna put a dimension in follow this one let's just make it I'm not sure what's gonna work here so let's just make it 10 for example might be too much hit enter to place that circle again it turns black that's important if she's blue something is is up with it and then we could actually go ahead and hit Q and just like before we could select a section and I'm just gonna hold shift and middle mouse button to spin her around and then we could kind of like cut that relief out of there now again when I do my cuts I don't like to just drag them already and it okay because then there's a floating dimension out there I like to go out to extend and say all and then hit okay so now we can I created a relief on on that corner alright hope that this is useful you let me know so with that I want to attack those kind of those kind of chamfers that there are sitting right here now we could again of course just go in and create a scats line it would be too hard that full of the final dimensions on this face and then just do another another cut that would be perfectly okay if you're brand new you just want to stick with these kind of like you know tools is perfectly fine but should know that there's many different tools that you can utilize him here so one of them in the air if I hit the model under the modify is we can actually add a he chamfer in here so if I click on that chamfer and I hold down shift middle mouse button I can X assume in and I can actually click on that that's right there you'll see I get a little arrow and just like that I can actually add that chamfer just like that right there so that is that is pretty pretty right there and you would like to see that if I go in I can multi-select right now so I can go ahead and select you know other edges well I can't do it right now because let's move the arrow after you drag the arrow then you can select multiple cars but if I go ahead and exit out of them again and just select those corners here again oh I should be able to multi select these corners all right let's try it well see this is actually not a corner right this is actually America forgot that so that's why I don't want to treat it the same the same way that's interesting all right let's just select this edge and do them each individually that's fine with me so go in here let's make it make it eight like that hit okay and then I'll show you a cool thing now I want to get back into the chamfer tool I could go up here and click on modify and hit the chamfer tool again and then I could go in and select one of these other ones over here not this one has a radius but it will put a chamber on it but that's gonna be a radius chamfer that is really not what we have on there I'm gonna leave it though that's good enough so you saw how I just went back up and selected to modify and then chamfer but you could also do is you can right click if you right click out in the white space area out here then you actually get a repeat so you can just go back up again some of the ups select the wrong edge it's like this hatch make that eight click enter we rotate our power around I can right click out in the space and hit repeat face and I can go ahead here and make that eight and we're now kind of like got those chamfer on all right brian is with us good to see you Brian can I pull electrodes with fusion 360 so I'm assuming around you are talking I'm assuming you're talking about sinker EDM electrodes is that is that what you are thinking you can one of the tools you could use for that is the combined tool if your what's remember of what some of the other live streams up on YouTube the combined command up here can exit be used to kind of like make a boolean operation where you can achieve or you can extract the pot from that so yes you could you could absolutely do that I'm not going to show that in this live stream but shoot me an email of something and I'll and I'll and we can take it we can take it offline but yes you can make if it's if that's what you're looking for then you you can absolutely create them alright we're almost done with the bracket here so we can call call and even now where we've been on for about an hour we appreciate you guys watching this and by the way down in the common area do me a favor this is good if this is what you like let me know if you want to see something more advanced I mean I'll do whatever you guys are kind of like voting for I just want to make sure that you know this one is a little bit slower pace make sure that if you have any questions we answer them we're not gonna kind of like a hard time deadline deadline here so the next thing I want to do through the part is adding some holes so shouldn't have I shouldn't have flipped it well web cutoff there's some different potholes in here so we can actually also cut the the different holes inside all the part so that's how we're gonna wrap pretty much this this part up here more or less so I'm gonna place some holes on this part now I'm gonna use a this face here to start sketching the holes on I want to show you a neat trick right here so I'm gonna go and say create sketch and select this face here zoom out a little bit so now we're sketching with this face Natalie thank you so much I am that you you find the videos helpful that is absolutely awesome to hear thank you so much so I'm gonna sketch my holes in here and we just already talked about you know the circle tool would be would be great to use so I could just hit C for circle and I could place two circles in here just like this but where are they gonna be in relationship to these edges one of the neat things you can do just going to have control Z to undo get out of this one of the things we can do is we can create construction geometry that can kind of like help us place the holes a little bit more organized so if I hit o on my keyboard o for offset I can offset this line one way in this case here I actually have the chain selection so it actually offset the whole thing that's not what I wanted I know I didn't I just wanted that one line so I'm going to uncheck change selection uncheck my selection so if this selected now I only get two line be aware if you ever see something that is not reacting the way you want look to see if there's any clues so I can take this line then it's kind of I get offset and I can bring it in here so I'm gonna bring it in minus 10 and hit enter so I get now this line but again that's a normal line I really just want to use it for reference so what I can do is I can select that line and then I can go over here and say I want to create it into construction I'm gonna do that you will see that it gets dotted what means that it's not going to be taking into consideration when we're doing any cuts so that's the way you can kind of help yourself with some geometry because I want my circles placed on this line but I also want my circles to be from kind of like the center of this 45 so basically create another line and hit L we've already seen that when I hover over an adze that the crosshair changes so the Cross that changes from standard black to like this edge here notice happening when I'm moving towards the center point you'll see in a second right there that may be hard to see the screen but we can see it when you hover over here now the crosshair changes but when I come to the midpoint of the line exiting the little triangle comes up right next to it right there so now it will create a relationship right for the midpoint so triangle means midpoint you can always go over and look over here on the signs over here and you can kind of like get that get that reference right so midpoint is a triangle some school hover over in Celsius triangle right there and I click on that and then I'm gonna move it up here now it has a tendency to kind of like trying to go vertical but just if it doesn't let me make it and I get a weird angle just place it out here so now it's like in a weird angle out here now I could use the one you've seen being used already the perpendicular and I could click on that and say I want this line to be perpendicular to this line and you will now see that that relationship is created now again this is really just a line I want to use for my reference to place these holes so I'm gonna go over and click construction line up here and select that line right there up get out of the constraint as though that comes straight up like that line can hit construction and you will now see that that has now become a construction that is perpendicular and that's kind of like my center of my Park cool all right Randy I will absolutely be happy to you know whatever I can do to add value to you guys fusion 360 experience that is told you what it's about ah cool man I'm glad that you learn something new Darren and Jay yep that is that's what is for simply for a quick selection and that is actually that is actually one of those tricky things a little check box over in the corner of a change selection you select the line and you think you're only gonna get the and then it selects the whole thing I don't blame people for getting frustrated and then what the heck right now you know so I hope that that was worth sitting through this alright so I created this construction line now let's go back in and create our circles so again I'm gonna hit C for circle this time I'm now gonna make sure that I'm actually again relating to that new construction lines I'm just going to place certain here and like I said before when it says when I'm sketching oh you'd like to see that that has I have the construction clicked up here so it stays on and turned that off um when I place circles and lines but it's time to just get it kinda like close so let me just sketch a circle way too big and then I'm just gonna place another circle down here way too big doesn't really matter just get the dimensions there now or the sketch geometry there now we can kind of like stop tying it down so when we've done that we could put some dimensions on these holes so I'm gonna hit again d for dimension like that and we're gonna make these holes eight millimeters so I'm just gonna place one here and make that eight type and hit enter but that only did one of them so I'm gonna go and do when we did before I'm gonna scroll down on the bottom and I'm gonna do an equal and say I want this one to be equal to this one now that both are eight hit escape to get out of there equal command so now again if I change this dimension to 15 the other one follows now you see that both circles are still blue we want them to be black and that is because yes they live on that line but they have not been constrained so here we could place a dimension so that was again B and I'm gonna select the dimension from this center point to this center point and you will see that it shows up depending on where you put in your mouse if I'm putting it down here it shows it as a horizontal but if I move it up then it makes it becomes the distance just go to where you want it left picture place it and I want this to exit v6 it sounds lever like so pretty close now you will see here that they are actually both still blue and that's because well it can still do this it can maintain the 67 but it can still do this here I'm just going to show you one of my favorite constrains over here and that's the last one it's called symmetry so what I can do with symmetry now they're only the thing that is hot about symmetry is you need to know in what order you got to select things so I can click symmetry I can select center point setup point and then I can select that line right down when I click on that now it's showing black now it's symmetrical right between that line is place where it wants all right we got Bob here thank you all for joining us when should you use ask ads with a circle that is a student versus the whole feature that is an excellent question so you know what the whole feature is sitting right up here create and it's sitting right in the hole you know what let's just blow these one two and we got to put a couple on over here so let's just let's go ahead and do the whole feature then you can tell like we can see the difference so to do these two holes I'm just going to do like what we did before and hit Q to get out of the sketch tool and then I'm just gonna select these two inserts holes here and again if I drag one way it's gonna be a solid if I drag the other way it's gonna be a cuts if it intersection and again I like to go to also make sure that the I don't have a dimension that is controlling that I just want all the way through tools done right there perfect now to get back to Bob's question great question why not using this whole command the whole command and by the way look when I'm hovering over it here you see how we get a little flyout menu and that exit gives us a good little explanation about what you can do with with that tool this one actually done don't need base cats if I just select the whole I can select a up here you get an option between a single ha Hall and a point or multiple holes then you do need a sketch but if I say like the single point and I click on this face it gives me a hole not by default this is a very big hole but I can completely adjust it over here to whatever we want so I could go ahead and make this 8 just like the other one was and you will see here we have a we have the depth in there we can do the through all and now we could actually go and and place some dimensions we can move it around whatever whatever you want you know I don't use Bob I don't use the whole command for a straight hole like this here the only time where the whole command to me really makes sense is if you go in and you want to do something like adding accountable or account of sync because if you were gonna do those in a standard like the way I was doing it before by sketching you would either have to use like something advanced like revolve or multiple sketches too to be able to to do to do that so this is where the whole feature I think really shines but I I also do dials are gonna watch out right I don't want to say you know for simple holes you should use the command you can it's just really another way to use it I think I prefer a sketch especially I prefer to the sketch and and cut especially if I have more holes in there just because you can kind of lay them out in the sketch and get them out of place that mentioned there fool to find them and then you can you can do the car so I won't tell you you shouldn't use one over the other but I will say the whole command shines for me especially when it comes likes of counter Wars and things like that I can see the David joined us a little David thank you for joining the first Facebook livestream and congratulate well thank you so much so you guys know I just had a baby daughter last Thursday so she's gonna be a week tomorrow so thank you so much David alright so yeah you could definitely go ahead and you can place it you can add your your dimensions to it and all that stuff but again I really prefer to create these sketches up here and be able to to kind of like control them like that so just to add the last couple of holes here I'll create another sketch and you will see that you know how our timeline kinda like Thank You Darren the timeline here is growing as we're moving and you can actually grab this little bar down here you can drag it back and you could we can go all the way back to X to the beginning and you can see how we model each step through with with this part here so that's Connie create another sketch up here I'm gonna select this face to sketch out goes normal to now again you can zoom in and out by rolling the mouse wheel and I would actually probably just create some maybe some some again some help helping geometry would be definitely legit to do here you could also control it all by dimensions I mean that will be fine too so let's do that for this one so we're gonna do circle again I'm gonna place two circles one and one somewhere over here on purpose I kind of like brought them away from each other they are gonna be both eight so I'm gonna hit D for dimension plays one on this one to make that eight so get the other one I'm not gonna place an odd I mentioned I could because I know they always would be the same kind of like dimension I'm gonna go away and usually equal relationship and say I want this one here to be equal with this one so now that is good you could go over and use something like horizontal vertical between the two and now you will see that they're gonna be on same line now they are still floating around like this so this would be where we start thinking all right now we're gonna kind of like add some dimensions Thank You Roger thank you for yeah it's gonna be a little bit after 8:00 same bat time same bat station Thank You Ravi I really appreciate you your chiming in well do another model and next next Wednesday so to place it I mentioned here I could hit d4 I mentioned and I could maybe place that I mentioned between here and that's gonna be 64 right there so now we're kinda like taking care of that now what do we have now and I use this all the time if I'm if it's still blue just holding that left mouse button and drag the cursor around kind of like helps you kind of like see you know what are you dealing with it so we're dealing with something going up and down we're dealing with something going sideways now I remember that I made this 124 up here so if I want to place them by the center it would be okay to hit d4 dimension and just go over here and say that I want this to be 12 right so now that is constrained again if you're still wondering why can still move you can drag your mouse around you can see here we can move it side to side now I would actually in this case here honestly just because you know I don't want to do the math I would hit alpha line fine again that set of points you know the rectangle that sorry the triangle appears right there create that line down some distance and then I would go over here so the construction click on click on the line click on the line click the construction and then I would go down and you our symmetry command we used to be fall symmetry command works very well select one point selective all the point and then select the line and they announce symmetrical everything turning black hit the Q click these two circles I'll just drag them right through to get the holes and then we can go and say through all right here we really only have the last side over here to finish up so let's let's do that so I'm gonna open another sketch on that face like that face there I'm really just gonna do what you just saw me do let's throw a couple of sketches circles so see four circle like to hear D for dimension we can place that 8 millimeter you can also place the center one that was 64 and then I can use two constraints so we know we have a horizontal constraint between the two and we had a dying diameter equal between the two so the 8 to that one we had a dimension that was 12 from here to here and then I'm just gonna create that line alpha line find the triangle right there throw a line down like that select the line go on a construction then I can use my favorite similar command from right there to that point to the line and now they're all black it's Q it's like the two holes and dragged through there and then we got them all through there that really kind of like ends the bracket now that it's done a couple of other things that you maybe want to to know about so I showed before how we could do we use the chamfer tool in here but also be aware that there's a phillyd tool in here so you could also go ahead and select these innies corners here we could add you know some little filling in here point five maybe maybe one right so you just so you know that that that tool is in that again we can repeat a command by right-clicking out the space and hit repeat this case fill it hold down shift middle mouse button and we could also choose to put a little one millimeter fill up on the ends there that is is pretty good right there I think that's where are we gonna end this first lesson you can hit the save up here now we already saved one so when we do that you will see that we get a version so every time they're saving we get a a new version in here so we can now say we've finished the part that's it I hope this was useful like I said your children streams five times a week they're about fifteen to thirty minutes long little more fast-paced jumping all over over the place these Facebook live streams Wednesday evening a little bit after eight more relaxed if you have any questions you put them in there will stop what we're doing we answer them we tick make it more basic right I want to make it full you know I know a lot of you guys out there a great with fusion but I also know that you know I remember when you little bit on secure about certain things I'm hoping that this kind of like maybe if you are not brand new at least validate some of those things really like I said just here to try to add some more value to your fusion experience then I can see that I've been here frou I've really appreciated playing with fusion about a month that's that's good yeah I mean you know really let me know if there is if there's any specific questions Gary asked why dimensions face to the left never seen that did they really do that they all all did they all go to the left I wonder that's a good question they all default to go to left maybe that's a is that a standard thing I wouldn't be surprised if that was a standard thing huh I mean you could take this dimension you could drag it over here and wouldn't wouldn't hurt and I would think that if you go back in again it'll stay over there no maybe yeah yeah so that's good ah all right let's see Darrin hey you're so welcome just you know finding some finding some some use of this would be good and at David have you used it for a few years that's absolutely that's absolutely awesome yeah let me know you know if there's anything like I said I don't think I want to dive into the crazy like on the YouTube live streams if you check those up and simulation you know a lot of different animations and things like that I think I want to keep those a little bit more laid back but still shoot your questions and we we answer them so with that people really appreciate it Wednesday evening we are halfway through the workweek and hope I see you next week next week Wednesday a little after 8:00 and and maybe also on the YouTube channel thank you so much we appreciate it and until the next time have an awesome awesome date thank you guys
