I Watched Joker in 0.25x Speed and Here's What I Found

[Music] hey everyone i'm the canadian lad and today i've watched joker by todd phillips at 0.25x speed and found 25 amazing new details that you might have missed at regular speed so without any further ado let's begin number one there's a visual countdown from 11 to 1 throughout the entire film starting with the clock displaying 11 and 10 in the scene with the social worker 9 when arthur commits his first crime 8 when he knocks on the door of sophie's apartment 7 when he steals the archived files of his mother 6 just before one of the detectives were getting on the subway five inside the subway four when murray meets arthur for the first time three on top of a camera in the studio two on the background of a television news and one is represented by ace on this billboard so the director intentionally put all these numbers on set to prepare the audience for the birth of joker and i've gotta tell you lance if i didn't watch this film in slow motion i would have never got that detail number two right at the beginning of the movie when arthur was applying makeup there's a familiar face in the mirror can you guess who is it look closely i'll leave it up to your own interpretation number three while arthur is practicing how he's gonna come out on marie's show you can see that he has a mug on the side table with murray franklin written on it number four at the beginning of the film we are told that super rats are taking over gotham authorities are saying the city is under siege by scores of rats now cut to the climax of the film if we watch it in slow motion we can easily see two super rats just behind bruce wayne and this brings my next detail number five one of the super rats can be seen once again in the background when arthur is at a pay phone number six whenever arthur tries to act normal he uses his right hand and when he wants to act evil he uses his left he writes down comedy notes in the stand up with his right hand but writes his own thoughts in his notebook with his left he doesn't even use the gun once in his right hand all the crimes that he committed was always done using his left hand number seven when arthur gave his journal aka the book of jokes to the social worker she read a line from the book i just hope my death makes more sense than my life but notice the book contains a story about a person who died on the sidewalk with others walking right over him he later references it on the marie franklin show if it was me dying on the sidewalk you'd walk right over me i pass you every day and you don't notice me number eight a lot of people wonder what was batman's parents doing in a dark alley before getting killed well this movie answers this question during the riots you can see thomas wayne's limousine was on fire we can even see thomas do a double take of his limo while leaving the theater but here's another detail out of all the cars his limo was the only one on fire which indicates he was targeted so it explains why batman's parents were killed in a dark alley number 9 whenever arthur runs he lifts his feet abnormally high when i watched it the first time i thought walk in fenix did it just to make the character different but upon watching it in slow motion i just realized that this is because arthur is used to wearing clown shoes number 10 in michael keaton's batman released in 1989 jack nicholson's joker looks at a painting the painting is called the blue boy by thomas gainsborough now the same painting can be seen in arthur's apartment as well number 11 just before making his entrance at the marie franklin show arthur was dancing in front of the blue curtain now notice his coat and pants appear purple a nod to the joker's original comic appearance which brings me to my next detail number 12. arthur is smoking a cigarette while doing his iconic dance and he throws the cigarette on the curtain but if i zoom in you can see a hand picking it up at the bottom of the curtains number 13 when arthur was telling his social worker about when he was locked up in a hospital there's a quick cut to arthur wearing a straight jacket and banging his head against the window now notice in both scenes the clock on the wall shows the same time number 14 when arthur packs his things from work after he was fired a song plays in the background called my name is carnival by jackson c frank now frank was a folk musician notable for constant random bad luck that plagued him and eventually led to the total decay of his mental state just like the events in this film number 15 at this point we're all familiar with the brutal murder scene of randall but notice just before killing him arthur stops a cigarette on the wall in the shape of a smiley face that presses a fist against it implying he was trying to content himself number 16 murray franklin introduces a guest on his show an actor called ethan chase a very fine actor he's got a new movie called american playboy will you please welcome a good friend of the show mr ethan chase now ethan chase was also the name of zach galifianakis character in due date another movie directed by todd phillips yeah what is your real name ethan chase but it doesn't sound like an actor's name ethan chase sounds like the name of an actor ethan tremblay doesn't make any goddamn sense number 17 after accidentally dropping his gun from his waistband in the children's hospital arthur then keeps checking again and again to make sure he has the gun while running on foot later in the film number 18 when arthur goes out with sophie the newspaper mentions about the chernobyl disaster at the bottom depicting that the movie is set in 1986 but at the same time we see blowout is in the theaters and that came out in 1981 so when exactly is this movie taking place 1986 or 81 well it could be neither because arthur is an unreliable narrator and there is no way to tell exactly if a specific reference is supposed to be accurate or supposed to make the narrator seem unreliable number 19 when arthur was taking notes while watching a stand-up comedy he had thoughts about slicking his hair back just like the comedian he was watching number 20 the text displaying the words the end is the same font as shown in the movie citizen kane number 21 after killing marie franklin joker goes in front of the camera and was about to say that's life but the screen cuts before he says it good night and always remember that's later we see the joker is sitting at the back of a police car but we never see him getting arrested well i was wrong if you watch in slow motion and pay attention to the screen specifically you will be able to see what really happened and how joker got arrested number 22 the police vehicles in the city have industry first written on the license plates rather than protect and serve implying gotham is really taken over by corruption number 23 in the blu-ray subtitles the doctor interviewing penny fleck is named stoner now benjamin stoner is an established criminal in the batman comics who is also a doctor at arkham asylum this might indicate that there was wrongdoing on how penny's case was handled because donor would do anything such as falsifying papers for money number 24 according to thomas wayne and the psychiatric files arthur was adopted by penny fleck but notice the adoption application is less worn out than the other papers indicating that a fake intentionally worn out paper may have been added to penny's file which still doesn't match the other papers so it has been left to ask the audience to decide whether or not he was adopted or he is really the first born of thomas wayne let me know what you think number 25 this detail has nothing to do with slow motion but it's something that i observed so here it goes while arthur's mother is legitimately delusional her psychiatric file reveals she was lobotomized i always thought the movie was intentionally ambiguous about this if she was actually delusional or if wayne falsified the papers to avoid any responsibility or scandal i think the way thomas wayne reacted in the bathroom was the action of a guilty person dad it's me you don't react to a statement like that unless you feel threatened by it but it doesn't mean arthur is correct and wayne isn't honestly i think both outlooks could be very true maybe penny was mentally unwell and took a main job because she was slow and it's easy thomas then either fell in love with her or took advantage but he kept it hidden and made it seem like the child was in his by forging documents so what i think is penny's condition got worse and she started dating cruel abusive guys without caring for her own son all on the idea that one day thomas wayne would come and save her but wayne on the other hand crafted the story that penny was just crazy and a stalker either way it eventually doesn't matter what really happened because at the end of the day the whole point is that arthur an innocent child was the one who suffered the most ironically the whole backstory is completely worthless because penny and thomas the only two people who really know the truth are dead and nothing they did mattered because arthur still suffered and that's the kind of humor the joker finds funny and that's it this was my breakdown of joker at point 2 fabric speed and i hope
