I made a Working TV in Minecraft

i like televisions i also like minecraft i like to put minecraft onto my television but what if i could put my television into minecraft and then i could put minecraft on my minecraft television and then watch this video of my minecraft television playing minecraft on my actual television i think that sounds good i mean honestly i don't know what i've just proposed there because i kind of lost track of it about halfway through but it sounds interesting i say we get to work on it and see what happens so this is our living room unfortunately we didn't have the budget for a full living room so the best you could do is a floor and two walls but i'd say that's good enough and now it is time to build up a home cinema and i'm going to build up a design that is pretty tried and tested this beast i'm going to have a little coffee table that's even going to have the switch that will allow us to turn the tv on and off that seems good maybe a bit of sofa action yes and just one or two paintings just to show that we don't just watch tv okay we can appreciate the arts as well i would say we've done pretty well here if you're asking me this looks very very good indeed but obviously at this point in time there is absolutely no television it is just a window through to some grass fields which is nice you know it's actually quite cinematic we've got some trees out the back there it looks pretty cool but i definitely think we can do something better than this and we're going to do that making use of the immersive portals mod and the carpet mod immersive portals giving us crazy portals and the carpet mod increasing the piston push limit which is going to be important and you'll see why in a little bit now i'm hoping this should all connect up that does not look like it's connected up where is that portal where where is this where would this take us i'm honestly a little bit fearful to go through it it feels like this could be a bad idea oh it's it's just that all right so what happens if i activate this portal it seems to have connected to a portal that is literally about a millimeter behind it okay that's not going to do what if i clear out an area underneath our build our builders is she just up here and then i activate the portal are these going to connect up are these in range of one another they look like they're in range of one another am i able to fly through i am okay this is good because i can remove all of the blocks that surround the portal i can even put glass over the top of the portal and that can create our little window into the television universe this is a very good starting point and if we go around the back of this build there's nothing there's absolutely nothing it's still this modification still breaks my brain a little bit right let's get to work on what's actually going to be on the inside of our television here's the plan we're going to have a video of someone jumping over obstacles on the television so we're going to have a scrolling background and then we're going to have some foreground elements and it's all going to look really really cool now if i'm feeling very smart and i want to emphasize i would have to feel very very smart for this to function then it would be quite cool if we could also get some interaction in there so this will go from being just watching the tv to actively playing a video game that would be quite impressive but also quite challenging as well anyway i think i've got the piston feed tape all in place let's see if we go out to our regular universe here can we see the edges of the pistons no you can only see them when you get right up close but everyone knows if you sit that close to the tv you get square eyes oh oh dear now i have never been particularly good at pixel art but i'm going to try my best to create a 2d representation of minecraft terrain i mean seriously how hard can it be how hard can this be i imagine very very hard actually i'm already getting the impression that this could be more challenging than i was expecting all right let's get a little bit of green terracotta in here this is this is looking nice oh this is looking this is looking gorgeous look at this beautiful that was sarcastic but this isn't i actually think this is looking okay-ish this is getting somewhere and maybe potentially probably not still i'm gonna roll with it in fact i'm just in the middle of building up the sky which is looking very blue the bluest in fact not many skies as blue as this one this is about as blue as blue can be to be quite frankly honest with you i don't know what i'm going to do with this to make it any better but i definitely feel like i have to do something you know what now that we've got some clouds in there this is actually looking really quite good like this is looking pretty cool if we imagine this moving past i'm already quite excited i have hooked up all the redstone everything in theory should be ready to go and i'm hoping that nothing should break and this is what it actually looks like which i mean it doesn't look so great right now but if we go through the tv apart from the little flashes that i don't think i can do anything about this is actually pretty good it's actually not that bad i'm already impressed with this and we haven't actually added in any of the details that i'm hoping to add in so this is a seriously solid start i also think i've now fixed some of the flashing because i've placed light blue blocks and light green blocks in the gap in our piston feed tape so now when it flashes we still only see light blue and green blocks don't get me wrong the flashes are still noticeable but they're nowhere near as bad considering how stupid this idea is i'd say we're doing pretty well now it's time to get our main character in place and i have just located this player head on mc player heads and well well this this might be permanent you shall now refer to me as lord mumbo all right let's get some armor on this guy and that is looking pretty good oh my goodness that is absolutely perfect oh this is so silly but it's so good right i've concluded that i am going to turn this into a video game so the button that is going to make this player jump is this one here but the thing that i don't like is that he kind of bounces around for a little while on the slime block after i press the button i need to come up with a way for that not to happen i think i have an idea is this going to totally break no that might actually work perfectly so the the chap here sits on the honey block oh yeah they they move don't they they move with the honey blocks i forgot about that and i can't use terracotta because that won't be grabbed by the sticky piston uh maybe if i use a strategic fence post which is placed here which you won't be able to see from the perspective of the television that could potentially do the trick it looks like that does the trick and that has worked really well i just came up with a better idea though and that is to have two bits of glass like this will that pull it too far over the thing is i don't want i don't want our guide to be shifted over too much is he gonna break i think he's moved over too far i don't think he's gonna get launched he does still get launched fantastic that little system is perfect right let's connect up the button to our little launcher i've tried my best to keep the delay as short as possible there might still be a bit of delay but that's not bad all right okay so we can now tell the guy on the tv to jump and i must admit it's incredibly satisfying we should probably start getting some obstacles involved though how on earth are we going to do obstacles i haven't actually thought this far ahead honestly did not expect everything to be working quite as well as it is working currently it is it is far better than i ever imagined it would be and i think we were accidentally very very smart earlier on with the glass and the honey blocked here because that means that our armor stand is now straddling two blocks he's on this block but he's also on this block now this is really cool because it means that we can have glass panes traveling past him on a piston feed tape and they will just breeze past you won't be offended by them but as soon as there's a block in the mix such as this magma block right here if this gets pushed along our fella is going to get moved along with it so that means if we don't jump over these obstacles then this guy is going to get pushed off the edge of the screen and we're going to lose the game i want to see i have no idea how far apart these things should be but i imagine maybe 9 or 10 blocks i mean honestly it's so difficult to know that does look about right though the only question is how do i get my guy back to where he is currently like that is something that i have not really thought of too much there has to be a way here is an idea so the armor stand will drop down into this hole allowing the block to pass over the top and then at the same time it will activate some form of trip wire or something that has detected the armor stand will then launch it back up launch it across and put it back into position looking incredibly dramatic now all of that works in theory does it actually work in practice so we've just been knocked off that has that's not gone well that's really not going well what is wrong with all those timings ah okay i need considerably more repeaters here okay i'm feeling good i'm feeling good well that couldn't have gone much better that has gone really well actually surprisingly well like normally things don't go that well does the whole part of the system work it does but i might need to work on the timings a tiny bit because it could be challenging to win oh gosh okay i mean there's definitely some flaws to the design oh that's yeah that's not good i don't really know what's gone wrong but something's gone wrong well first things first i have to heavily reduce the number of obstacles because the number of obstacles was causing serious issues with the reinstation of this guy the next thing i need to do is just clean this place up a little bit because it is looking quite messy and now i think we might just be ready for our first full test of this system and i must admit i'm very nervous i don't know why i'm so nervous but i'm nervous backups have been made and i'm ready to play the first release of my brand new video game what would this be called lord mumbo leaps i think that is yeah that's perfect all right let's give this a whirl shall we activating everything getting myself in position things should begin to move and i'm going to have to start jumping [Music] that has not gone well okay i need to work on my timing a little bit we should respawn the way i respond is fantastic right a little bit later that's the one that is the ticket here we go here we go okay that's way too late that's oh yes this is so stupid this is so stupid but also kind of mildly entertaining as well it's quite fun all right let's go let's go i mean as far as in minecraft games go i have to say i am pretty proud of myself on this one was that too early again too early and i've put these obstacles too close so i don't know yep no i've died again all right i'm not saying this isn't perfection okay this is this is not perfection from a game design standpoint but i have to say i think i've done pretty well i think i've done pretty well we have got ourselves a fully functioning tv in minecraft complete with video games i mean look at this thing look at this thing [Laughter] so so silly i hope that you've enjoyed this and uh i guess i'll hopefully catch you in the next video i'm still surviving but in all seriousness this was a ton of fun to create i genuinely did not know what to expect when i first started to work on this video i didn't actually think that a lot of the ideas were going to function so to see them actually working is great and i have just realized you don't even necessarily need the immersive portals mod to make this work you could almost do this in vanilla minecraft which is nuts
