all right we are back back back back back into daddy's kitchen aka mommy's kitchen today hello mommy and teddy hello how are you guys doing we are doing well i'm very glad that you are well you look well look at you guys complimenting each other in your outfit colors now that i'm seeing it behind the camera this couldn't be more perfect she looks gorgeous guys tell me how beautiful she looks in the comments if you feel like she has a beautiful dress on i feel like she does so i am not even going to hold it up you guys have been asking for mommy to be back in the kitchen so many comments of oh we want to see mommy you want to see more of mommy so here she is with a very highly requested video so mommy without further ado tell the people then where we are back today we will make jamaica spiceborne all the attitude too jamaican spice bun is happening right now you guys have been asking the season is fastly vastly approaching so this is your jamaican spice bun or easter bun tutorial so mommy without further ado let's just jump right into it where do we start so we're gonna be starting over with the dry ingredients so we have dry ingredients and we have wet ingredients okay okay and then after we're done then we combine them both okay all right so here i have six cups of sifted flour okay so i'm actually doubling the recipe okay all right so i have six cups of sifted flour i already sifted it okay it's all sifted through so when you say doubling the recipe you're doubling it because we need more right i need more so i'm actually gonna be baking two two um nine inch pans um off buns two nine inch pan okay perfect all right because one recipe will only give one we'll only give you one of this okay and we need two because remember family of six perfect all right okay so here we go so here we have the flour okay all right so i'm gonna put in all the dry ingredients in here okay so i'll take you over here so here we have baking powder okay so i'm gonna be putting two tablespoon of baking two tablespoon full of baking powder okay okay so here we go we put that in and all right goes okay then i will be putting in thank you daddy two two teaspoon of nutmeg okay so that's nutmeg there nothing was just added okay four teaspoon of mixed spice okay there we go one teaspoon of salt two teaspoon of cinnamon [Music] okay and i think that's all the dry ingredients that we have so okay mommy do you want to go over one more time just just say what what they were saying okay so so baking powder i had two tablespoons of baking powder i have two teaspoon of nutmeg four teaspoon of mixed spice one teaspoon of salt and two teaspoon of cinnamon okay perfect so okay follow you on to your next step okay all right so what i i'm going to be doing i'm just going to be whisking all the all the dry ingredients together just just um blending them together and combining them okay all right so that's all the dry ingredients there that we have okay all right okay so now we're going to be moving over to the wet ingredients okay so we we will be using dragon stout drug on this dragon stout and because we doubled the recipe i'll be using two dragon styles okay all right some people do use malt if they don't want alcohol in it some people use guinness guinness we've been having a little bit of problem in canada getting the bottled guinness okay so here we are i'm using dragon stout today okay all right so i'm just gonna be pouring it into this container so that's one bottle and then i'll pour in the other bottle here okay all right okay we also in this ingredient in the wet ingredient we are going to be putting the sugar okay so we doubled it so i'm putting two cups of sugar brown sugar okay which would mean that the original recipe was just one right yeah or you know you can go with a little less if you don't want the bun too sweet okay okay so we're going to be putting in this two cups of sugar here i'll just use them got a spoon out okay i'm just gonna put that in there okay so that's it okay and then we're gonna yeah we're gonna be moving moving over to here so that we can put all the other wet ingredients in here okay okay all right so right now we have two tablespoon of molasses okay so this is molasses slow as molasses okay i'll just shut this up a little bit here i'll just scoop it out with this with a spoon here so molasses is like really thick and really slow sometimes people says you're slow like molasses going all over here but loss is going uphill that's how slow you are all right okay and then we have honey okay so i have half cup of honey okay all right half a cup of honey let me use your other hand so we can see sorry [Music] okay that's the honey there perfect okay and then i have four tablespoon of browning browning now you can go if you don't want your bun to be really dark you can use less okay so just use your own discretion in the amount that you want and how dark you want your bun to be okay so i'm just going to pour that in here okay okay all right and i have some vanilla extract and i did put some say about a teaspoon of each vanilla extract and some mixed essence i put that together in here okay and then you go with your taste if it doesn't taste as good as you want it then you put a little bit more okay all right and then here we have i'm just going to mix it mix it for a bit mix it okay because the yeah the objective is to make sure that the the um the grain of the sugar um comes right out okay yeah so you want to mix it as much as you can actually yeah to get get the grains of the sugar out okay okay all right so another thing that i'm gonna be putting another i'm gonna be putting some some butter okay so this is butter that was melted okay and i'm gonna be putting eight tablespoons of butter in it of okay okay so i have the measuring the measure the measuring um spoons here and this one is two tablespoon okay okay so yeah so i put four okay all right all right so the recipe calls one so that's two i put put in there okay okay that's four now that's four tips yeah um six and then eight ten yeah okay because this tablespoon is it has two two two in each that's why i did that okay okay all right and then we have four tablespoon of water okay four tablespoons yeah i already measured this so i'm just gonna pour it in okay there we go okay all right just put this okay so mixing it up mixing it out mixing it out make sure your sugar is mixed out mixed up i could put it a little bit on the fire and get it all but i think it should be okay it's it's been mixed out yeah properly and the whisk will help yeah to get to get the um the grains the sugar grains out gotta okay your back into it yeah it's not hard you just you know like making a drink with some sugar and you make sure you mix it all out mix the sugar grains all out okay so we're back and we have mixed out the sugar all the grains should be all really mixed out right now okay yeah so now what i'm going to be doing i'm going to be putting some egg that i i did two eggs two beaten eggs okay some people put this on and on the fire and heat it up a bit to get this get rid of the sugar granules but i didn't do that you have to be careful too with the egg because if it gets too hot then the egg will cook into your mixture so you don't want that okay okay all right so we just yeah yeah so we just mixed it yeah okay there you go and then you just mix that in to the mixture again so if you pour it into your flour and you find that you need a little bit more mixture and or a little more liquid then you probably could put another guinness in it or something or not or another dragon okay okay yeah okay so now i have my raisins okay okay so i'm going to be putting the raisins into this mixture okay okay before i come combine it with the how many raisins did you put in i put in half a cup uh a half or um two cups of raisins sorry two cups of raisins okay into the mixture yes okay and i just stir that in and as i said some people um don't like the raisins whole so they you can actually blend it up a little bit in the blender so that you don't have that whole you know that you don't have to eat that um like that but we don't in our home we don't mind okay um another thing but we do mind those yeah the this one is the the mixed peel the mixed peel some people add mixed peel to their buns okay you can add it if you like mixed peel we don't we're not too crazy about it um so i didn't add anything okay yeah so so mixed peel is out this time okay all right thank god the word like tell me in the comments if you are someone who has had easter bun jamaican easter bun tell me if you are just like me and you bite onto a little piece and you're just like oh so inconvenient those little mixed feel things of course you do yeah [Music] okay so that's blended out really okay that's the butter that's in in there that's creaming up a bit there but for the most part i'm sure it will disappear when we once we put it in the oven perfect so the oven i preheated it at 350 degrees okay 350 degrees so make sure your hoven is on and preheated um and we're gonna put be putting the bun into onto the middle part the middle rack little rock okay okay all right and it's gonna be baking for 60 minutes which is an hour okay all right so now i will be adding the dry ingredients into the wet mixture okay let's see how it's done all right so i'm just gonna be pouring it in i'm gonna come by a little by little yeah and then i'll mix mix mix and the full amount goes in there you guys got to get your elbow grease going just keep mixing it properly into your liquid oven is ready i think she's on a roll um maybe [Music] you think you might be adding some more goodness to it uh maybe a little bit more liquid okay i'm glad that you guys get to see it like because this could happen to you you may feel like maybe i want to add a little bit more liquid too sorry i'm just gonna maybe pour up maybe another half but this is the dragon stout right yeah dark water just about a quarter supported look at it coming together it smells so nice just a tad mold maybe it is half an extra half smells so good right i know every time she like turns it and folds it over it's like natural daddy i feel like it's super simple if you break down all of the ingredients like how mommy had it in the beginning with everything sorted out from the beginning you can just pour it in makes it for a much easier recipe easter bun is on the way huh cut it [Music] come on look like it's gonna be the bun to beat so get yourself a an extra side of um what's called again dragon style dragon stone dragon stout just in case that you can you know do the thing putting in uh that work [Music] what do you think it needs to be more liquidy or so for this i think i use maybe two and a half guinness yeah um i'm sorry dragon dragon we're always mixing up guineas and dragons yeah so most of the time we we used to use the guinness but in canada we are having problems getting it don't know what's happening with labat's bureau but when i need for oreo i'm bringing guinness back okay i think that's good okay you like that consistency okay so then we can say two and a half mm-hmm maybe because these bottles are small here it is yeah okay so it looks good and ready looks good smell good okay so now we have our pans uh we're ready to pour our mixture into our pans these are two nine inch pans that i have here and i did we did butter it okay we had the spray butter and we buttered it and made sure it's all buttered properly okay so that your your um your bun doesn't stick okay all right okay so now i will be pouring okay hold that yeah okay so i'll be pouring some into this pan look at that okay all right and then we pour it into the next one it's the precision for me it's the teamwork um yeah okay leave something for the other one okay you use a spatula use your spatula please guys look at this oh it looks so good you mean you don't even want it makes you want to get a spoon it's the love that they have for you guys look they must love you guys because the way that they be making these these these meals and desserts and all this stuff for you guys it's real love peace i love always always yeah so now we have poured we've poured our mixture into the pans okay and then if you like cherries you put some cherries on if you don't like it leave it off okay so we're gonna be putting some cherries on top okay before we put the the mixture into the um into the oven and that's how it is traditionally right yeah well people do it however they like it yeah yeah some people bake it with cherries inside we are just putting ours on top of the bun okay i've seen many different versions yeah all the pens as i always say it's your house whatever you like in your house you do it your way okay all right you heard that your house your kitchen yes and however your family likes it look pretty okay so what i actually did i actually just cut up these are the maraschino cherries i actually just cut them up and just put them on top of the the the mixture okay and where do you get that from amazon uh uh these cherries are from the supermarket sometimes um you can even get it at the bulk store okay like a bulk barn barn or yeah whatever your local store is they they have them in bottles i saw the one in bottles um today and it was it was in heavy syrup and i didn't want to have that yeah i didn't want the heavy syrup those ones are usually really sweet and this bun is already sweet so we don't want to overdo it no additional sugar needed yeah and i know there are people gonna say the bundeswiza it's sweets up here we go again however you like it you do it how you like it okay all right you heard what mommy said okay yep she this looks exceptional mother exceptional okay so there we go with that all right so now we're gonna go into put it in the oven the oven is at 350 degrees okay it's already preheated okay and i'm just gonna put this on here some mittens i'll just put it into the oven um yeah i'll put it right right over there in the middle okay okay and it takes one hour okay so you leave it in there for one hour one hour all right and then when it when it's done then when you put it put the knife in it nothing should come on the knife okay all right so there it is in the oven bread in the oven baking baking baking bread in the oven baking baking till our morning [Applause] all right okay so we will be right back when we're done one hour one hour one hour see you soon okay so we're back after the our hour holy smoly oh look at our buns okay so i'm just gonna poke it still need some more bacon see that's somewhere baking see that still needs some more bacon even after the hour this one is thicker than the original one we made so um yup need some more baking soda still needs bacon so we have to leave it in for a bit more yeah about half an hour you think yeah we'll check it out for half an hour and see where we're at all right so let's put her back in for a half an hour and then we don't see okay here we go so they are baked so they took about say an hour and a half okay see the knife is clean if the knife comes out clean that's how you know it's ready it's ready okay so i turned off the whole oven look at that yeah and i'm gonna take them out and take this one out close all right so here we are okay so we have a glaze that we made with honey so we put four um tablespoon of honey and four tablespoons of water in this and then we just bring it to a boil bring it to a boil on the fire okay stay on medium heat okay so that we can use a pastry brush and brush the glaze on okay so another regular barbecue brush but a pastry brush okay all right so here we go so i'm just going to dip the brush in here and then i'm just going to glaze the glaze the bun okay while it's hot so it's important to take okay and then you will get that shiny look on your bun so that's honey and water see it's boiling there gotta make sure you get into all the little nice nice nice glaze all it is is just water and honey eh some people use sugar sugar and water and then bring it to a boil that's our fancy bun and and this actually sealed the buns so that it doesn't get dried out right so by the time it cools it will be sealed and then you can just you know you wrap it in your um stretch and seal or whatever you wrap it in or put it into a tight tight covered um container okay tightly covered so this one is glossed and the other is long glass so that's the difference in how it looks yeah all right and we'll just do that and i think it's time is it time for us to share their own special bun and cheese with me yep soon soon soon we're
