and check them out guys if you're looking to support the channel multiple venues to do that then this one is going to be gun mag warehouse they're a huge supporter of this channel get magazines from them discount code grantham we also have lax ammo and vertex lax ammo so you can get ammo and actually train and then vertex so you can get sick plaid and you can cosplay and do all that fun stuff guys thank you for watching not so much an amazing piece of history or something very unique but we have the Glock 17 Gen 5 so I did a video on the Gen fives like right when they were released without having a whole lot of time when I'm sighs wanted to get some information out but now that I've had about seven eight thousand no I close to nine thousand rounds on Gen 5 Glocks I wanted to talk a little bit about my experiences and kind of do a full review on the Gen 517 so first off disclaimers I bought this with my own money I wasn't given to me by Glock or anything ammunition was provided for by me it obviously has slide work had done to it that is from the Jaeger works they do great stuff and I wanted the ability to mount an armoire and I wanted some front slide serrations which is why I sent it to them does that affect the functioning of the weapon in any way no not at all so that didn't change anything about this review so once again we have another generational clock this is the fifth generation of clock perfection and they hit the undo button on a couple things that were previously perfect but basically the whole reason for releasing a new Glock is that gastón it needs to have more Horcruxes because he is immortal and the more Horcruxes he has the more he splits his soul and the less human he becomes but and he's immortal so what can you say about that guys there are a lot of great things about the Djinn five-block and so without further ado let's get into them so first off the heart of any firearm in my mind is the barrel so Glock has improved the barrel over older models they have a new marksman barrel with a target crown and all that kind of stuff but what I understand it's a little bit tighter of a fit which gives you a little more accuracy along with improved rifling how often how much of that are we gonna actually see that's kind of my question when it comes to like improved barrels cuz I've always been of the opinion that for most people the barrel and the gun are way more accurate than the person shooting them I have personally noticed that this gun is more accurate than my Gen 417 but not by a whole lot I didn't I have made 130 year you know yard shots that this from draw and all that kind of stuff but I think that's more due to training than it is the barrel itself but let it be known that the barrel supposed to be quite a bit more accurate so good on Glock kind of moving from the bear let's talk about the slide a little bit so obviously I've had slide work done to this I have front serrations along with the ability to mount in rmr now the regular gen 517 does not have front serrations however the Gen 517 m OS which is meant to mount optics does have the front serrations so people are going to ask me why didn't I get the MOS since I wanted the ability to mount and RMR well with the MOS versions they mount their optics a little bit higher than you would if you got a gun milled for a specific optic so because of that because it's higher it's a little bit harder to code witness you have to get taller sights and I'm not into that there are certain optics that work really well with the MOS like the shield and that type of thing however I haven't had a whole lot of time on those optics to say whether or not they're proven so stand by on that we'll be doing a review on that optic shortly by surely I mean a month or two so anyhow that is why I had the had the work done to it now as far as front serrations are concerned I know there's a lot of what's the word we want to look for debate about whether or not front serrations are important why would you need them so front serrations in the ability to operate the weapon the front is not a new concept weapons such as the browning hi-power and the beretta 92 had scalped front sight front slides that way you could use the front to manipulate the weapon so it isn't a new concept now for me I know a lot of people say oh if you have a fence or a shion's it's so you can do press checks and that type of thing what's the point and I understand where you're coming from because on the Glock switch to the gen 5 when there is a round loaded the extractor will push out and you have a nice indicator letting you know that you have a round loaded so no point in doing a press check to see if you can see or feel brass but the problem with that can be that if you have thick gloves on something like that it might be harder to feel that so in my mind there is still a reason for a press check now besides that I like the front slide serrations because it's easier for me to operate the weapon and clear malfunctions from the front it's easier to do it from the front than it is to do it from high everytime that gets me I really need to watch my phrasing just like Archer said but in case that's there um the Agri works did some really kind of minimalistic work on this which is what I like I don't like a whole lot of Gucci you know got each slide work done on my slides so perfect on that now when we're speaking of slides we need to talk about the coating so this one has obviously been recoded since there's slide work done now here is a Glock 45 which has the original coating still on it now regarding the coating they have a new coat which is called nd L see it's supposed to be tougher than any of their other finishes that they've ever used yeah everything's always better and I'm sure there are many improvements I've seen some reports that perhaps that the new end dlc coating is not as amazing as we once thought i am doing a torture test on some gen-5 that i have but that will take a little bit of time before I can report on that let it be known though with the nd LC coatings that I have my current gen fives I haven't had any problems but so before I can say with some authority I want to wait before I kind of report to you guys on that will do a special video on that once that comes into play okay moving from the slide and the coating let's talk quickly about the sights so the sights on stock Glocks still suck they are awful there are some options that have like a marrow glows like this Glock 45 does but even then it marry blows aren't always my first choice so one of the things that you'll want to change on the Glock in my opinion would be sights now I understand they can be a little pricey around 99 to a hundred dollars but there's a lot of great sites out there you have night vision you have 10 H if I marry glow Trijicon HDS so many great ones it just kind of depends on what you want whether you want fiber optic or tritium or what have you but in this case since I was mounting an R Omar I had to get suppressor height sights so that I could see the iron sights through the window of the Trijicon RMR which in my mind is vitally important with any type of red dot equipped handgun that you still be able to see your iron sights if you're not familiar with Glocks the takedown for some people causes some concern so two levers right here on the other side so you have to make sure the gun is clear so you're good and clear point the weapon in a safe direction pull the trigger and then at that point you're going to pull down on both levers well we're tracked in the slide about an eight-foot inch you can take that slide off do all the stuff that you need to do like cleaning it and that type of thing and you can simply push your back on rack it and then your backup is ready to go on the sides of the slide and the frame right here you have an ambidextrous slide release so this is a big deal obviously for left-handers and congratulations the world is finally noticed you me included I am left-handed although I shoot right so anyhow you can reuse the slide from inside it's no more difficult from any side than the other so good on you Glock that the same thing goes for the magazine release the magazine release is also ambidextrous now speaking of the magazine release the magazine release carries over the Gen 4 type mag release which I've been a huge fan of the size of it and how easy it is to use compared to like the gen 3s so that has always been something I've really enjoyed of Glocks cuz on the gen 3 is for whatever reason there's a little bit harder for me to release the magazine now it's kind of an ass pain okay one of the big points of contention for people when they hold the Glock or we talk about Glocks as I say a Glock doesn't fit my hands you know and for the most part they're talking about I think the grip angle really is what they mean the grip angle on the Glock I do agree is a little bit odd it's very aggressive but there's good things about it the aggressive grip angle means that I'm more into the gun and it can control that recoil a little bit more than I can with other firearms that being said I understand where you're coming from now a lot of people say that having tried a whole lot of guns so when they pick up a Glock that like I don't like that just doesn't feel right to me and I would challenge you to actually shoot a Glock a lot and to look at professionals and what they're choosing most professionals are choosing Glocks for a very good reason it's because the grip angle is very advantageous to modern grips shooting quick and shooting in those kind of weird environments so they did do good do good things with a grip angle there and that's been the case for a long time now if you notice two Glock is hit the undo button on the finger grooves that they perfect that they previously had on their Glock perfection hand guns and that's great on all of my jenn force I had the finger grooves removed because I hated them and I think most people did so them removing them from the factory has been excellent now the rough texture texturing that they have on the Glock to me isn't that great I know a lot of people are singing its praises but I much prefer a little bit more of aggressive texturing a little bit higher up especially so on most of my firearms that I shoot a lot I have a stippling done a little bit higher up on the gun so that I can get a little bit more into it so the texturing leaves a little bit to be desired in my mind especially the polymer-framed gun where you know it's a little bit slick so it's a little bit harder to hold so I prefer a little bit higher on the texturing and a little bit little bit more aggressive to be honest you can definitely go a little bit more on this gun right here it's a lot more aggressive and it's not tearing up my body my hands or my shirt when I'm carrying it so let that be known okay let's get down to the famous Glock trigger if you know anything about blocks you might know that the triggers and Glocks leave a whole lot to be desired there's not a whole lot of people who go up there and you know pull trigger on a Glock and they're like wow amazing you know a guy from 1918 after fine to 1911 travel 2,000 years and yeah well 100 years into the future and like hey you want try to a gun from you know 2018 he's like yeah you get my Glock he back the hell is this you know because there's a lot to be to be desired and your sin it comes down to different mechanisms but the glade the Glock triggers are very safe the Glocks are lacking external safety enough for a lot of people that's very scary they'll be concerned the gut the Glock is a very safe firearm has this little lever here trigger can to press up the lever carry the Glock with around in the chamber it's not a big deal don't freak out about it lock is a very safe handgun long as you're not stupid all right let's go the trigger which is my favorite part of this video so as is traditional with Glock trigger so you have a nice little kind of mushy take-up you have a slowly gradually increasing pressure right there so pretend your fingers over mine we'll go sis together great film by the way we hit that wall kind of mush us through and we get all that tension and then we have our let off let off is a little bit crisper than what you had in the Gen fours okay let's check out the reset resets are important a long reset can suck it screw with your ability to keep your handgun on point I know a lot of people agree disagree with me but if you have a really crappy you know reset it's gonna be much harder to shoot a gun effectively get the reset coming forward right there good nice and positive not that you you feel that when you're shooting everything like that it's just nice and short in fact it's a little bit shorter than ijen for good let off so the Gen 5 trigger is improved the first Gen 5 trigger that I ever felt I didn't feel any difference the later models of the Gen fives for whatever reason seem to have better triggers in the earlier models I'm not sure if something changed or something like that or if I'm crazy which is more likely but the newer jun 5 2014 14 around and they settled in nicely around 10k and they were wonderful so this feels like a nicely broken and trigger and I haven't noticed that they've gotten any better or worse they seem to stay the same compared to older Glock triggers so I've been appreciative of that they do have some geometry changes within the gun that facilitate that better trigger so Glock did do good things with that now that being said Glock triggers are still pretty awful compared to a lot of other striker-fired weapons out there like the Walther PPQ and the vp9 and others so don't let it don't think that the Glock triggers are amazing at all but they're much more acceptable now with the Gen 5 okay one of my biggest problems with the Glock 17 wolf Gen fives is this little cutout right here at the front of the grip you have this little cutout and that's if the you know magazine gets stuck you can get your finger in there and you can rip those mags out as opposed to grab it on the side and ripping them out I just I find it with that cut out that whenever whenever I'm doing reloads the lip of my magazine always catches on that I always fumble reloads on the Glock 17 Gen 5 so the big thing that the Gen fives was they were like hey it's a battle you know magazine well that way it's bigger that what you can do super awesome magazine changes I'm like yeah you need a bigger mag books you have this freaking cutout right here that's screwing everybody up so I'm not a fan of that you know I think a slightly extended base pad could have accomplished the same thing and I know they did enlarge the base pads but even still I am NOT a fan at all of a cutout at the front of the gun that's one of my biggest complaint at the Gen 5 and I hope they click the undo button on that and just make it go away like they did on the Glock 45 which lacks it so they probably aren't hitting that undo button so how does the house lock sudden King Gen 5 feel to shoot it feels like a Glock 17 you know I've seen some post saying that yeah you know they kind of changed up the timing a little bit of like way more reliable a clocks are already reliable so I haven't been able to you know say that everything but the gin the gent I some teen feels exactly the same to me as the Jen for a little bit better because lack of finger grooves and the better trigger and that type of thing but otherwise it's a Glock 17 they fire great they have a smooth recoil impulse they're very flat shooting because the barrel on the Glocks is so low to your grip that it's really easy to control them in rapid-fire Glocks are also very very lightweight there's few guns that I Rose lightweight as glock so you know other polymer weapons are of course but when it comes like you know comparing like a beretta 92 to a Glock in the clocks way lighter and it has in many ways a better recoil impulse than a beretta not to say that those are awful I do like those still but I thought I'd be now that there's just something to be said about a Glock they just shoot very well when you shoot the me understand why they've been adopted by so many different agencies in so many different countries Britain for example adopted the Glock 17 as its service weapon we of course did not we picked up the M 17 but in any case if you haven't fired a Glock 17 before I'd highly recommend it they are very smooth very easy to operate weapons now whenever I talk about shooting the Glock 17 people are like okay well what's your favorite handgun to shoot favorite nine-millimeter handgun is without a doubt the browning hi-power one of my favorite just my all-time favorite 9 millimeters just such a wonderfully designed very sexy looking handgun and I'd have a really great recoil impulse very smooth and I just absolutely love them and also a great thing about the browning hi-power is that grip angle it's very very straight compared to the grip angle on the Glock 17 so because of that I find that with the browning hi-power my natural pointed aim when I bring it up is much simpler than what the 17 where I kind of have to can't my the gun down a little bit to get my sights under target now like I said earlier that does aid in controlling the recoil in that type of thing but when it comes down to comfort ability I understand how somebody could pick up a gun with a straighter grip like you know m17 or a brownie high-power be like wow that feels really good John Moses Browning really knows what he's doing and they picked up the immortal Ghassan Glocks Glock and they're like okay that feels a little bit weird but okay weird flex so again I understand where you guys are coming from but let it be said that the Glock 17 is a wonderful handgun as far as recoil absorption is concerned now I've talked about the cons a little bit I hate that cut out but obviously Glocks are some of the best duty weapons out there they're very reliable there's not a whole lot to snag there's not a whole lot to think about you draw the guy and you fire they reload quickly simply they're just wonderful guns so what is a problem with the Glock well they're kind of a blank canvas there's not a whole lot of frills when it comes to a Glock you know you want to not suppressor you have to buy a barrel wolf that's threaded you're gonna have to get suppressor height sites or gonna have to do a couple things but they are a blank canvas so that's good and bad for some people because in my mind the Glock out-of-the-box leaves a little bit to be desired especially when it comes to the iron sights I feel like that's that that that is something that needs to be changed to make it a more effective firearm that being said I don't think you're gonna be sad if you buy a Glock 17 yeah they're playing yeah you don't have like a supercool Gucci hang and they can shop at the range but honestly some of the best shooters I had met are running Glock 17 Glock 19 Glock 34 for a good reason it's because they're a very reliable handgun and they just work they just plain work there's nothing that quite has a reliability of Glock and there are other strike fired guns that are just right up there but Glocks are just legendary for their ability to run through just the worst of crap so get out there buy this if that's something that you're looking for I don't think this gun is so much considered to conceal carry unless you're like a monster or lost weight you're bigger dude I'm about 6 foot 185 pounds and the Glock 17 is a little big to conceal carry I definitely prefer something like a Glock 19 which is a little bit smaller but if you're looking for something for duty these rock a lot of people are gonna ask me what holster I'm using so let me read it off for you guys I am using the Safariland 63 85 red dot sight manufactured holster so it is made for a Glock with a red dot obviously as a nice little hood that clips sound that way I don't get mud that falls into the optic when you draw it it pops up and then your pulsar goes back down to an ALS system locks off and walks off the ejection port so until I press that little lever on the side it won't release and once I do releases I have the OT defense nub mod installed on here that is my go-to with any Safariland holster guys I hope this was somewhat helpful to you I know Glocks are kind of a beaten to death subject but you know if you're new to the game then you won't know so much so I want to give as much information as possible and what really matters what I'll always harp on every time guys is training get training none of these firearms are gonna matter if you don't have training so get out there and actually shoot your guns actually dry fire practice some great guys who get training from our guys like cog works halia strategic which is my debt which is Travis Haley's company bare solutions esoteric get out there and actually get training from a professional because they're gonna make you that much better of a shooter in that much shorter of the time and make sure that you're correcting any mistakes that you might have even realize that you have from shooting with your buddies highly recommended guys thank you for watching you know I love you and I've got nothing else for you so I don't think it's a new phenomenon but I think there's a phenomenon to shame people who fail or who make mistakes or something like that right now especially as social media it's easy to see somebody who definitely it's stupid like somebody flips off the memorial or they do something stupid here's the thing we've all done stupid things the difference is that most of our stupid stuff isn't documented and I think it's easy for people to get in there and ridicule and get on these people and I don't think that's a constructive environment I don't know that I have all the answers as far as how to handle those events but I think that belittling people and you know continually making fun of them and not letting them kind of move on from their mistake is an issue with this internet culture that we have [ __ ] dude everybody [ __ ] out that's a fact so if it's happened to you and I'm sure you guys have screwed up as well move past it understand your mistake learn from it and go from there if you see somebody else screw up you don't let them learn from their mistake but I don't think there's much to be to be gained by ridiculing people I really don't everybody said stupid stuff at some point or another guys be kinder that's what we need more of in the world support each other this uplift each other in this community you know I love you if you guys have made it this far you know I'm gonna head on that's gonna be Big Daddy and limited what is Big Daddy limited it is a subscription service for gun things and it's cheaper typically there are some things you can find cheaper stuff otherwise but as a whole in a site your rounded is going to be cheaper it does cost money it's a subscription service is it gonna be worth it depends if you buy a couple products yes it will be if you don't know then you'll be angry at me so see if it's worth it for you Big Daddy Limited weird name guys I want you to comment with if you made it this far your favorite topics on pizza yes or the weirdest thing you've ever eaten on pizza I'm okay with that as well I'm just a pepperoni like meat lovers type guy phrasing every time guys take care bye
