Get Ready To SMASH!! | Super Smash Bros Ultimate First Look! (Nintendo Switch)

[Music] [Applause] [Music] hey guys welcome to GT Life Friday edition let's let's try this again jelly weird yeah we started this stream but there were all sorts of audio issues and I slack I suddenly had this like belief that I was talking much faster than I anticipated and then there was lag it's weird event of our imagination so today we're playing smash yeah look like everyone else so you've probably seen all of this gameplay before but you know what you haven't seen it with us and you haven't seen our comedic discussions about what's going ok there's a lot to do there's a lot of characters to unlock we also have a theory good now Jason's giving us a thumbs up but we are good this time so that is it was perfect the whole team is perfect so we also have a theory coming out on this coming out is it the goal is Sunday right yeah the goal is Sunday we have whatever we have a theory coming out dedicated to the adventure mode in smash we're really excited about it but I so I haven't officially gotten a chance to play it but we know some people who got it early and so we've been kind of like watching and using their gameplay in order to craft a theory around what the adventure mony actually means I'm not super obvious what's going on will be and we'll be talking about them and like like if we borrowed the game from so that we could like actually get through the like get through some of the cutscenes and stuff like that in the episode and it should be really good we're really excited about it but that having been said this is our first time actually playing three of our copy of the game we're excited about it nothing is unlocked we're starting yeah this is fresh fresh out of the box if there was a box anymore because game welcome to game play in 2018 everyone is here apparently not apparently not the name that would be amazing and like I would be like widen what are you doing in to know the neighbor from hello neighbor is in Super Smash - hello neighbor today but we're going to play that next week so stick around for that hide-and-seek the that's the prequel to hello neighbor so that's coming up next week we like I said when the stream was lagging we figured if we have a chance at playing Super Smash Brothers we've got to do it on day one when its roster yeah okay and we're gonna play it one more time next week as we do a theory talk back to talk about the theory that's going up this weekend so alrighty ok that's so fresh out about first impressions here we go i sat down on the couch after Wheaton the download finish and I saw the Surrey and I'm like oh my gosh there's so many there's it's just there's a lot I remember the day where was like single-player multiplayer like target test and now it's it's just a lot on the screen there's a top menu apparently yeah it got news and options online stuff that's what that's where you get your hopes and dreams shattered draining mobs smash the entire army each fighter has a route to try to make it there okay so there they don't even want like they don't even want you to know the route that's behind like games and more this is let's let's just do a basic smash let's let it look at all there's so much stuff let's do this base level we just right off we kind of got create rule set by last i order created by wolves what create a rule set this out is so complicated Oh No yeah we're creating a rule set the rule set is gonna be stock I mean I like this idea of what save your favorite way to play yeah FS mater get a final smash only from bait great to be seen in salt fill up a gauge oh I see okay so smash balls are good spirits so apparently there's the spirit system yeah so apparently there's the spirit system which allows you to it sits in the adventure mode and you unlock the pieces and then you equip them onto different characters too like power-ups especially those yeah it's it's a lot more complicated than past one I'm just like over here and petting myself like oh my gosh I can't hear it oh you can you not individually control the compute that's weird I liked having one really easy computer that I could beat and then one really hard computer that math would be right that was the item beside which everyone will appear it's interesting I look at this screen and there's actually fewer item fewer items than I would expect like with this being everyone's here you would expect like all the items really flex and while there's advanced cheese wow there's so much that like I appreciate that you can customize all this like as I look at that it's at first glance again this is first impressions right there's just a lot there's a lot to like wrap your head around because there's so much layers of customization but because smash is a game that's played by so many different people in so many different ways I appreciate it I like I like that Luigi key tonight is that you like that way if you like it's like finger guns it's like Luigi is my reaction right now like whoa look at all these modes and options this is intimidating well I understand Luigi hashtag relatable um we'll see this is great can we just save it restock great three did we save it Oh Adam both made of the return appearance thank God everyone's favorite haha if there was ever a stage that makes competitive players angry Hannon bow is the best option there let's do random because I like right I like randomness in my smash okay okay can I choose a character now okay ah thank you I heard about this it's just weird to see you here's your computer here's your choice and stuff that's it this is that you got to unlock literally every story did I add a D member well here at the press you don't measure things there you go good got it so it's gonna be you and me first are you okay with that you want to add a computer and now realize that a computer so that if I die first I can actually say that great okay can you see Pete there we go okay oh and you can artificially select them you're just selecting the default okay that's good to know I should probably start with someone real life okay what's that Jason put it at three three yeah it is the we do it ashes got a little bit more complicated then it used to be a minor stuff you're just getting warmed up into the new the new method yes No oh there we go oh thank god I need to finish you off ah there really appreciate a toll on Beast right now whose real really trying to make me feel like any of this was not my fault don't feel bad stuff for the 3ds version I can't handle the level of nines like I used to they really upped the AI difficulty it's true but the level value which is a humblebrag in and of itself but I really appreciate you trying to make me feel better about it level 9 from back in the day are now the equivalent of the level 3 Submariner oh yes only but one did you win victory for Humanity ladies and gentlemen humanity has 100 sleep at you there you go yes sleep 2 for the win good that is how I feel today I'm like please just put me to rest just just put it to bed at this point it is worth noting that I killed literally every single person I'm ready for the next ow are you in right I'm actually surprised that Ness is the first one we're unlocking I was expecting it to be I was like I was except expecting it to be Louie D because this is Louie gene usually number one was it Jigglypuff in the first one you don't get a choice how on earth are they going to unlock character what is there other ways done oh no oh oh yeah was achievement based back in the day and then it became more like just play an egregious number of matches that was nice suck on that's that sans slash Ness yes I know I'm well aware thank you definitely not that's that's was my face and that's was my favorite in the first game I was oh look I'm on look at this look at all the roll man Nintendo has really double down on that like fusee with dopamine you played a single match here's a new equivalents of so these are challenges it looks like like an adventure mode so these okay so these are looks like achievements remove an obstacle on the map using a spirits abilities so these are like things that you do to unlock these are like the windows from the past match game where you add on and where you would smash the windows use a team so these are basically like achievements in this game okay that makes sense spirits classic mode to encourage you to play all this stuff Oh bad in online mode you can lock other create a playlist all right okay and then what did I get out of it though so I got a snack and it's a squirtle achievements and emitters just called squirtle maybe it wasn't squirtle so maybe was intended to be SN a cc and those are really attractive shells it's a smacking you are a snap great fantastic I don't really play Dracula's castle cuz there's many many levels that I may reveal that I'm like I like Dracula Castlevania I want to play this one look look at us and fill it up the roster of characters snap do you want to keep only one computer player and keep him at level three I think that's why okay moving on I'm moving on to this man yeah welcome ladies and gentlemen to the most embarrassing smash livestream you're gonna see today I guarantee it okay so let's see okay so I was really bummed when when melee came out because Ness was always my main Nessun Pikachu were always my two main characters in smash back in the know back in the day in in the first one and then in melee they just like nerfed Ness like nobody's business and I was really bummed because he was always my preferred character yeah all right miss Pauling effective for me right now well what is this well could you please look at this one let's see oh I really want to land a flash I was so excited cuz it was one of those I mean back then no one knew about earthbound like the reason most people in the u.s. nowadays know that earthbound is a thing was because of smash but I was one of the people who had grown up playing it and so to suddenly like and remember this is in the early days of smash the whole idea of like unlocking new characters and then it was all bro it was all completely brand new and so everything you had no clue what to expect and it was one of those things where all of us what's going on what is going on all of a sudden you see this character who I had grown up loving and was like one of my favorite one of my favorite characters of all time to be included and get recognized oh god what a jerk that's my Smash Ball are you kidding me break no no oh I can angle theory stop it stop it man the hardy Smash Ball right there it is baby Oh fire it off fire it off there we go thank goodness go yeah I'll finish him off you're just like abilities even though technically that's the move that only belonged to poo and that's never actually got that that's very stuff is gonna win again but that stuff is gonna win a game before something's gonna win a game before we end arrant yet well and I already see several people in the chat saying don't feel that we're happening on-screen that's what's always made it difficult for me to watch smash as an observer like it's such a big eSport and it's and it's really fun if you're watching it small-scale but my problem when you get four or especially like eight players in a single in a single match is that it's impossible to watch anything and I actually find it really hard to fall it's true it's actually one it's actually one of the reasons we don't play smash on the lives yeah it's it there's too much going on there's and and without very much narrative you know so it's I don't know I think it makes it hard for a live streamers to watch anything down you know it's it's imply slack yes it is a flyswatter that I had summoned on my side to help defend my honor um every little bit helps no but it it's interesting too cuz like oh look who's ready it's it's one of those things where one of the things I like about smash is the fact that it is a chaotic party game and I and I like that sense of randomness and then the items popping in and all this stuff but at the same time like but at the same time I totally get what like it's it's tough to watch especially like to me the older versions of smash were a little bit better cuz like the levels were less detailed the character models were less detailed the there were fewer items it seems like item frequency even on like low in mediums only increase and so that's why 1v1 matches working really well but once you get beyond 1v1 it becomes a really tough viewing experience right like this is totally watchable but when you add when you add too many other components and it's tough yeah and that's that's actually one of the things like I wanted to started with this just so we could get a sense of what did she ever do to you you don't challenge me Maxo that's when I raised my hand and really the Smackdown okay hey Zelda whoo knocking out players lovely nice so many we're down these unlocked by the end the livestream all of them the whole game will be ours by the end of the livestream random we're something else let's do another random yet okay we're gonna still keep only one computer player because with one player it's already already there's already a lot going on I'm gonna I'm gonna test out cell I'm just testing out whoever's new I think that's that's the fun thing oh we got patriotic Mario Mario the Patriot Miss America Miss America over here whoa Wow yes Oh Zelda I like I like the Keith I like that attack that's a good one also part of the reason I like the randomness of including items and stuff is because it gives me like like I was saying earlier in the livestream when I would play against that that kid in theater who was just really good at smash he was on yeah sorry no you're not No all I wanted to do is like try something god oh but but again like when I would play against I kid who was just really good at playing smash in my theater days I would insist that we because he was one who didn't play with items and stuff and I insisted on it because I'm like this is the only chance that I have to actually like cuz he was not used to dealing with the like randomness of the items and so I'm like oh this is my only chance at being actually competitive against you in any way shape or form okay overlay - oh that one right oh yeah that was great I love that thing it was weird like any theme over it matched pretty darn well it's it's wild how so many different themes matched up against that yeah it's it took a lot longer to find a place than we expected and the place that we found didn't have that many availabilities so that was part of the reason why we had to push it to another week but don't worry it's coming as is the lingerie shoot which I'm sure everyone is super it's funny that everyone's like when you're dyeing your hair when you I haven't seen many people asking what am I gonna do that lingerie shoes people are just hoping that you forgot about it they were like didn't we donate enough money for Matthew not to do the lingerie we should have we should have had like a tier where it's like you can negate the previous tiers of donations that would've been fun ah are you ready for the next battle ah yeah totally we gotta unlock more of these Rando characters all right just be great because it would show because it's it's easy for them to implement I would assume and it's one of those things that would show like such community love and like such awareness of how people are talking about their games online I think I think it would be so smart of them the problem with doing about that is that every character comes into smash with a predetermined set of sort of if not abilities like at least characteristics that you can make base their abilities off of we're about that not coming in from a game there's just no history to to bring oh well she's Bowser or you it would be like a bow it would either be a Bowser skin or a peach skin right like I I feel like that's what it would have to be you know like it would be peach but with like black dress and like Bowser horns and this is like a little bit more it would be sultry peach no I think it's got to be a Bowser skin with peach light qualities you can't do just two feet of a peach in a black dress that's an interesting question and yes the answer is yes if you're a if you do YouTube gaming videos and if you incorporate games into videos regularly then yes yeah technically beautiful augurs it doesn't mean you don't pay for it but it means at the end of the year you can use it to get like a partial tax deduction that was an odd question but it's true I know it is true I say the same thing that if you're like in like if you're an actor or if you're in any sort of entertainment profession stuff like Netflix tape your cable subscription theater tickets things like that are partially no here we go that are worth calling out the smash had a good reveal of a new character there was also speaking of fighting games there's also the reveal of the new Mortal Kombat game ah yeah that was fun which I bet I was never like allowed to do a lot of Mortal Kombat stuff because it's very much to mature games immature title um amateur title for an immature kid but that being said this it looks incredible in the reveal of it was really exciting they did a really good job of surprise like cuz no one saw it coming so that was pretty awesome I I was fortunate enough to be at the video game awards last night I was I was working on the red carpet which was funny because I was supposed to call out people and talk to them and it just really became like me awkwardly interviewing Chris the entire time because Chris was the only person I wasn't scared to talk to even understand what you weren't scared to talk to Chris doesn't make them ah you know Chris Chris is scary to talk to you for other reasons let's be honest Chris has his own reasons for like do I really want this guy um no but it was one of those things - like like ninja walk past and it's like oh you should talk to him and I'm like yeah I'll just talk to the cutout of his character and like the picture of him on the lake spreadsheet instead I just get really a lot of social anxiety around stuff when it comes to like introducing myself to new people it's I don't know what it is and like you're mistaking me for the different person even with jacksepticeye who was there and I have met before you hung out with him before we made tacos together yeah like I get nervous with him to know ah fine what do you think what do you think it is stuff diet diagnosed me also we want congratulate hi I think I don't know it's it's always nice to be it's it's always nice to like talk to other youtubers but sometimes you just like get nervous you know yeah yeah no I I think I think what it really boils down to is the idea yes that is that what it is is that the fact I had no friends no I think it's that I don't I don't know like you want to you want to be friends with other youtubers if there's a lot of pressure to I don't know look cool cool just like you don't actually run into them that often and your interactions are sometimes really short because it's at an event and you're in the middle of doing other things I think though I think that's pressure to like make the time that you have with other people like like you know nice and you don't want to meet somebody and say the wrong thing in the first two minutes and then you don't really get to see them again and so that's like the only impression they had of you well I think I think what you like you said is is really true where it's like a lot of your relationships with other youtubers at least in my case like are are very much I don't know where I stand with a lot of people because you don't see them that much and it's like did it does this person remember me how did it like we've also had that happen where we've met like the same youtuber like three or four times literally like three or four times and they don't remember you from time to time and you're like hey oh it's good to see you again there and they're like oh nice to meet you and and there's that like awkward like come on man like you have met me three times before right like and not like not like just in passing like we've sat in the same room and had a conversation multiple times in the past and somehow like you don't remember right so it is awkward because you're like is this person gonna be like one of those people who just like doesn't doesn't remember yeah and it's that I think that's what a lot of it is is like your your relationship now I have thinking your relationship kind of falls into this like weird territory of like I don't want to be presumptuous and oh yes will you go way back to that one time I don't know because then then you come off as weird and like imposing and so so many of my relationships kind of exist that we're like like with Felix you know pewds you know we've had a couple interactions back and forth on Twitter I was in his show that one time but outside of that like you know we don't talk and so how what does he feel like you know you talk mostly through like your videos to each other or whatever and I'm not one of those people who like reaches out a lot on social media cuz I'm really shy in general which is weird because I'm gonna I'm an outgoing person like if you get me talking I'll talk and I'll be really excited to talk to you and yeah we I I put us both against one really harder computer I'm we're team pink Oh versus I guess another thing character it's just we're trying to be yes good recovery yeah so anyway so so last night was interesting because it was like I saw a lot of people and there's Olli there was a lot of um where I was like ah I don't know how that I don't know how to handle these you have all these new characters that are introduced like Bayonetta and the Street Fighter characters they have different fighting styles that feel fundamentally not smash related like the way they function is not your typical like forward smash these special moves like they're a different level of diff culty to control I think and I'm curious how they merge because I didn't really download a lot of the DLC of the previous versions and so like I'm curious how they merge into the new gameplay styles or how these new gameplay styles mesh with the overall game will be interesting so cool yeah you want what do you want to try next do you want to keep smashing away at each other I think you should because I'd be curious to pop into Story movies yeah actually and see what that's all about it even looks like hard to find so you got your take on challenges to get spirits you got your spirit collection how many of the adventure so links check out the Ouija board first defeat possessed fighters for your chance to free the spirits with them we only get one shot because it's Pearson vanished oh no if you lose the rank is strongly disputed do some novice like do a novice one and check out how much actually it might be a tough fight but if you win you gain a strong ally that spirits will swap out as time passes you can also use items to refresh the spirits strengthen your team against strong opponents but know that if you win with a weak team you'll get more lone warrants oh my gosh Wow some spirits are super effective to get certain fighters here this is weird you can press the Y button to automatically assemble a team of spirits with the best skills and strengths so you know okay that's the way to go there just press Y wow these are all okay novice I like that one attack and defense you'll want to first select your payment okay so yeah so the spirit board is one way to unlock spirits and then this is another way okay yeah you want a shot let's see how goes it's
