Generation Kill Part 1 | "Get Some" | REACTION

hello all you are now watching generation kill um so this was suggested by some of our comets and our last a show we've seen the pacific and i don't know much about this show besides that it takes place in iraq and it's a little more light-hearted than the other two uh shows that we've seen i've never seen this show we've never seen a trailer right have you seen it yeah i've never seen a trailer yeah and considering the recent events in afghanistan uh i guess watching this would be fitting i want to say fitting but they're not really the same theaters yeah from my understanding in the early 2000s there were the american people were more focused on iraq and afghanistan afghanistan anyway yeah so uh yep they invaded iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction that weren't there and and uh yeah create a [ __ ] storm ever since so now we're headed to the u.s perspective anyways so episode one here we go hbo hbo show i have no idea what to expect oh beautiful color palette nice shot i'm gonna say this about everything i see that looks cool nice shot oh yeah this is modern so gotta get that skittles uh product placements at one o'clock [Laughter] i don't know if i can pin the t-55 for that might be a practice run i didn't think about that [Music] [Laughter] can you imagine wearing all that equipment it's [ __ ] hot that's true yeah i should know that desert oh he's actually here don't waste some walking doc my boy how's it feel [ __ ] doesn't feel to be [ __ ] dead oh it feels sad yeah it's a training wrench [Music] and also [ __ ] damn make a nice combat casualty congrats yeah you [Music] hey that's uh all right got half an hour that's that godzilla dude kong dude [ __ ] cool man get something wow all right oh [ __ ] yeah i got the word from the captain of g2 brad do you hear about jaywald get over here it's a miracle that was killed that would suck holmes getting killed before you got to go to war and kill people yeah before lights out got the sergeant sounds it feels almost very documentary the way it's mine the way it's shot the way it's shot have you gotten any word i only get what's passed on to me from godfather and the only know if you know anything about jlo being killed i forgot this is relatively recent i'm better off shooting rudy now that is some [ __ ] you can sell right there okay maybe for weight training strength training yeah perhaps at some point though i feel like there would be a plateau where he can't get that strong without yeah this is definitely very shot right documentaries i think in other words don't worry the shock troops this guy oh yeah we don't do windows everybody's still missing maps the ao the problem is battalion wine and we are working on it he's literally just wish during the whole briefing that's some exploitative [ __ ] you've been exploited by your batters you don't want to [ __ ] [Laughter] so the first marines we just saw their predecessors in the pacific match yes sorry major you mustache hairs is in violations i can't take them seriously dear mr army man [Laughter] they are bad and i am glad that you're going to catch them and punish them i am glad that you are so brave so they like everyone else my name is they just don't have sledgehammers sitting next to there i guess they all said right they're all sledge oh wow desert storm that's the name of the operation in the first album i mean and then the first war how long would this last how long did i have to hold that down and they're supposed to go tomorrow [Laughter] [Laughter] the only white boy in the family three step dads and they're all black take this down dog they're i think i'm purposely going overboard in front of them oh yeah that's true i hope show them what the life is like there yeah they use quite a bit of slurries i don't know it's this guy again stove underneath the voodoo's espresso pot went off like a 40 my playing white boy's face like a rotisserie chicken [Music] that and they're probably going to ngp all their asses for operating a stove in the tent against the brags over an espresso maker this platoon is going down port the united sustained a casualty a marine was burned corporal persons sustained minor injuries when a cook stove being operated according to regulations suffered a catastrophic purple person was kneeling by the entrance servicing at 148. i can't tell if anyone's serious with sarcasm why do you need me to get you all this stuff in the infinite wisdom of whoever runs the military post exchange stores they will sell this stuff in quantity to actual military personnel or civilians like yourself these guys are four big twos and nvgs they don't have no batteries so that's the bottom through the commissioner batteries [Music] [Music] holy [ __ ] [Music] oh so he was uh there makes sense because some of the units afghanistan got moved over here oh that guy is tall as [ __ ] there he is camouflage anyone happen to remember when you made it a [ __ ] dead exactly what the [ __ ] is that the massage guy i think it's a starting major again what i love their nickname for command this guy is great i know he's fantastic he's completely on this row generation kill that pitch it'll catch your attention yeah yeah get it on the side of my humvee do you mean you guys are invading a rack with just one translator yep that's a wonder anything gets done i wonder when they go on these kind of missions they just there's just a lot of waiting yeah of course yeah the translator gave him a shotgun that's really nice yeah it's a great shot there's a sergeant major italian move out yeah i just realized this entire episode has no music yep that's great though it definitely led to the documentary feel it doesn't need music though until then keep the warnings on better [Music] i can't make out who's who what happened he probably didn't secure it properly he's a reporter he's no yeah hey that shot i just performed testicle surgery on the reporter i forgot to spit out my tobacco so i had to swallow it and this suit is uh too small this giraffe is crushing my nuts this will be the biggest [ __ ] up i haven't counted well maybe if that's right it's nice you know i think sheree and i are gonna move to san francisco there's no fat people there no no awesome i just went through a scottish house again you didn't make this mistake yeah i don't know if it's gas or not in there they have to be ready to invade your country mustache i tape my windows so i can turn my laptop on without enemies seeing the light cool huh [Music] can he still get into this historically god [ __ ] [Music] we are yeah we were seeing a real life picture of that that invasion combo was really mad when that masses and shrooms this is the [ __ ] [ __ ] yeah taped his healthy windows thought he was being all tactical and [ __ ] until bravo missed the turn of the checkpoint oh because [ __ ] couldn't see out yeah that's what i was wondering yeah how are you supposed to see yeah like [Music] i'll tell you why it's lack of [ __ ] that [ __ ] countries up lack of [ __ ] is the root [ __ ] cause he's got a fair point [Music] please wow yeah that's invaded foreign country [Laughter] yay my google [Laughter] wow oh nice shot only person would color 19 at two o'clock sergeant gets elephant supply for a tank [Laughter] he's just complaining [Music] yeah that would be around this time they're still here abra levine song here man this feels more like real war than like a combat it's like showing what's going on in between yeah it's actually very fascinating it is it helps that all these guys are believable on their walls and white pickups march with red diamonds you should smoke them sir i guess wow [Music] dropped on iraqi forces promising safe passage to win who's running for the americans iraqi military deaths who flee [Music] shoot that dog corporal sir and we'd be saving our rounds for enemy combat shoot that [ __ ] dog you want to shoot the dog gives a [ __ ] like the dog is just walking around i'd stick my [ __ ] through that bell hole and [ __ ] the [ __ ] out of your wife's face any day you surrender to us division that guy's like straight to the point yeah he doesn't he doesn't care if he writes it up and takes her jeez terminator is obviously enjoying himself wow i'm they didn't even say anything as they were watching they just sent them off yeah and they just accepted it quietly yeah of course they well i guess we'll never know that was a very restrained way to end the episode no music at all besides the apple song well no it cancels the song no instrumental music no instrumental music huh that was an interesting first episode not what i expected i'm guessing they put the reporter in the show as a way for like to answer questions that the audiences may have because obviously all the marines know each other is like yeah characteristics but for example he didn't know that the colonel had uh throat cancer but obviously the other marines did so i'm sure there were probably a reporter or a reporter with them during that time i'm just curious because are they are they actually real they're real people oh he's good going in yeah as you can see by evan wright okay so uh yeah they are uh based on real people based on real people they're real people um well as we mentioned the episode it's uh it was really fascinating seeing to see what goes on between the scenes you know somewhere you just jump from here to here and there's combat combat combat combat so far they haven't fired a single shot and they're um much way more fascinating than seeing action in a way yeah this kind of uh this kind of stuff is interesting to watch and that was uh surprisingly uh some humorous moments here and there a lot you did mention that there were some funny moments injected in this series yeah yeah i felt like marine life anyway i almost felt like i was lifted out i felt like i got transplanted into a daily life of a marine during the iraq invasion yeah that's true i don't know much about that history so i think maybe watching this show might give me more of an insight into that better at history than i am i mean it happened pretty quick invasion i mean they uh they went in and they basically won but then all [ __ ] still started afterwards so i wonder how far the show will oh and uh all the characters were great um characters are people oh yeah i'm sorry all the actors were great yeah they played their roles all convincingly well that's why i was watching an actual uh uh camp of them in the middle of nowhere and then hearing all the stuff like they have to buy extra equipment kind of baffled me i thought i thought the army would send them stuff that's right now i mean i thought the marine corps was sending stuff but yeah i guess not or you know how he can't tape his own humvee uh he ordered a custom plate or whatever for his mg uh had to order extra through the through the civilian that they had yeah and they got the woodland camo which is utterly useless for that terrain but you think that the uh the army or the marines would be like better equipped or far more i don't know smarter than this but they make deal with what they got yeah they have to do that now yeah kind of uh very eye-opening though on their struggles not just i guess the way they communicate with each other too you can see some of this for show like uh hey everything has to be proper and groomed and all that [ __ ] like the grooming standards yeah the gummy standards for super important in the army and marines in the military anyway but somebody does not and you know you saw how the sergeant major was looking for the tiniest flaws yeah had that [ __ ] happen to me too it was like your fingernail wasn't cut enough when i was a conscript and then he's i'm like looking at it like i basically tripped it to like the bare minimum he's like wants me to cut some more that's how they do [ __ ] on you like no matter what they'll find they'll find something to throw at you every time [ __ ] oh god i didn't go to the military but i went to elementary school here in taiwan and they did a lot of the same stuff where they would tell you you have to uh tuck in your uniforms well or your your caller isn't right things like that yeah they transplanted the entire uh military experience onto kids so they can prepare them for the authoritarian state back this was back then marshall i understand why he went through it yeah not entirely of course that's a different yeah far different scenario but anyway back to the main story so yeah we uh we meet all the main characters the first episode is very it's excellent actually i really enjoyed it i want to see more hey yeah i look forward to seeing more it was a longer episode than i thought but and the ending was very very man that was yeah very bleak in a way just like they're just heading back out to get killed or whatever else happens to them i think i think i've i think we've been watching too many like banner brothers episodes because i you would think like they would protest or make any noise against going back to squads but they they silently walked back to they just falled off yeah yeah they were or the suv encounter like the two trucks coming up with guns i'm surprised they weren't lit up because they had guns but uh i wonder if they were testing them just dab their feet into the water hey we're here so was j.lo dead uh at that time but that's it's funny how they're all obsessed with this like is she is she because they have any uh radio or anything she was really famous at the time well that was a really good episode and they established everyone everyone very quickly yep even though i could tell who's who even if i don't know everyone's names right away yeah i was about to say yeah um we know there's brad and vic that lieutenant fake the guy in charge uh there's a colonel uh fredo i don't think i think a butcher's name i'm sorry and uh godfather yeah uh what else right ray sergeant major you could call himself a major [ __ ] or whatever what was the reporter's name evan i think um it was it might be i don't remember well we'll probably learn more about their names and in the next episode well i'm surprised they got a budget to do this though limited cg2 yeah i'm guessing there's some cg at the start though it looked pretty epic the way it felt felt very stylish like they were looking through night vision you can see all the vehicles laid out in front but really really grinding quality that felt like you're looking at an actual war going on but they had to drop like that for hours like there's nothing going on really yeah that's true if you're in a war do you really want to get shot at though or just like ninety-nine percent of the people want a war but they when they actually see combat that was a one percent i always gets caught oh um can you think of anything else all right think about anything else i'll probably think of something later like you know two hours later why didn't i bring this up during the discussion anyway it doesn't matter so uh yeah i think we covered about all the episodes so far yep great look at the life of marines and invading iraq and uh yeah we'll see you guys for episode two hope you guys enjoyed this brief reaction uh thanks for watching it's not really a lot of like oh my god shocking moments that we had to uh you know process but it's quite enjoyable quite enjoyable episode uh yeah so take care peace out we'll see you guys for the next episode
