what's up YouTube Jeff back again today another very exciting Samsung video for you guys and today we're going to be talking about Galaxy s24 Ultra top problems and how to solve them very popular video every year going to talk about some issues you may be experiencing with the phone just some kind of launch day frustrations and uh various things some of them you can solve right now using various tips and tricks that I'll give you in this video and also talk about a couple of issues that are still unresolved that should be fixed by Samsung in an upcoming software update so let's get into that before we do get started I want to thank my son Jonathan he always gives us some dinosaurs to hang in the video we got the Triceratops we got the green and red T-Rex always appreciate my three-year-old son for giving us some stuff to hang out with us and I also want to remind you if you haven't yet ordered your Galaxy s24 Device you can do so from my website using our affiliate link and get a free Mystery Box this may be ending within the next day or so when I post this CU it will close on January 31st however we will be opening up mystery boxes again later this year um so if you buy from our link and you're going to get a Galaxy zold 6 or C flip 6 or you're going to get the Galaxy s25 next year sign up for from my newsletter so you'll know when those mystery boxes go live I'll drop all the links below to that if you're interested in picking one up so I've got my little checklist here in Google Keep notes as usual let's talk about these issues the first two kind of go together Samsung gestures missing and the high gestures hint missing so a couple people were talking about the fact that they don't like the uh High gesture uh Missing because you have this little bar at the bottom with the gesture hint and it takes up some space when of course you're viewing apps cuz the gesture hint gets pushed up a little bit people don't like that and then other people want their Samsung gestures back where you can swipe from the bottom instead of swiping from the sides like Google has in the default Android gestures on the Samsung phones Samsung removed both of those in oneui 6.1 by default but you can easily get them back what you're going to do is go download the goodlock application which is Samsung's own Suite of applications you can go into the Galaxy store search for goodlock you'll find it once you download goodlock you're going to go to the makeup side and you'll actually find navstar now napstar got a recent update and it looks like that update is just now rolling out to this device you can see here that I have here it's got extra gesture settings you can see here 6.1.0 5.33 what you're going to do once you have this update go ahead and update it or just install the app for the first time make sure that it is version 6.15 uh 6105 33 that is the one that has this update once you have it installed you're going to go back and open up the navstar update so let's go back in here and do that go back in here open up navstar start you're going to have to give some permissions then turn on navstar and turn on this option that says enable extra gesture settings so once you enable extra gesture settings go back into the main settings menu on your s24 Ultra and scroll down to display once you go in there you can scroll down here navigation bar and and then here under more options you'll be able to enable the Samsung gestures which are the swipe from bottom gestures that brings those back and the other one that's really annoyed people you can turn off the gesture hint and you see when I turn off the gesture hint you see how I get that extra screen real estate it really makes it look borderless with no bezels it looks beautiful a lot nicer without that gesture hint down there and yes you can still wear you know use Circle to search and all the other features with the gesture hint removed I actually made a full video on this detailing how it works and everything if you want to go check it out I'll drop the link below the next thing is battery life issues and this is always a common problem or question or concern whenever there's any new Samsung phone out and I always get a lot of messages people asking me to talk about how to improve battery life or mitigate some of the issues that you might be experiencing there's a lot of things you can do it really just depends on how much you want to limit the performance of your phone I can give you some of the best tips that I use to get the best battery life the first one is Samsung has the ability inside the settings to change your performance profile from the standard to the light profile so if you scroll down here device care which is actually been Stripped Away from the battery menu and you go in here you'll find right below all this information about your storage your memory performance profiles right here if you change this from standard to light it prioritizes battery life and cooling efficiency over processing speed which definitely will improve your battery life over time this is one of my favorite tips for improving battery life there's a lot of other things you can do but this is one of the things that for me has definitely improved the way I get you know maximum screen on time out of my phone other things you can do of course you can make sure that you're got the always on display off when you're not going to be using it because the always on display does take some extra battery particularly if we have the new feature that shows the wallpaper there's also settings inside the battery menu itself which allow you to do this namely these two power saving and background usage background usage with put unused apps to sleep allows you to save some battery but you do have to be careful here because if you use a lot of social media and messaging apps if you choose to put unused apps to sleep it's going to put those to sleep and you might not get real-time notifications so if you use this setting I do encourage you to go in here and choose the applications that you don't want to ever be put to sleep so that you don't miss out on important notifications and things like that you can also set up your power saving menu so that when you really need to get maximum juice you can turn power saving on you can do this with inside the quick toggles on your phone you have all these set up so that it does exactly what you want turn off always on display limit CPU speed decrease brightness limit app and home screen and then when you switch it on it's automatically going to do all those things really nothing else in the battery menu to worry about aside from make sure if you want to turn on battery protection if you're going to have the device for a long time this will preserve the longevity of your device but it also only charges it to a maximum at the end of the day day of 80% or 85 or 90% which you might not want if you need to get maximum juice out of your battery the next one is Spam calls don't we all get a lot of spam calls these days and Samsung has a really nice way for us to deal with our spam calls which is the text call option now if you go into your phone menu I'm going to make sure I don't have anyone's phone number here put them on blast but if you go into your phone menu and you go to the settings you'll see this little orange dot which means there's something new here there's a couple things there's text call and live translate Now text call is the one that helps you deal with Spam calls because of course we already have a spam filter built into your Samsung phone but sometimes you're still going to get spam calls and you might not want to enter you know into the call deal with them because maybe you're doing something important if you turn this on uh the voice assistant on the Samsung device Bixby will answer the phone and allow it to kind of show you what the person is saying in real time you can choose different voices you can choose how fast the speeches is going to be for The Voice Assistant you can even create a custom voice that sounds like you although it's kind of creepy I did it in a previous video and it definitely is a little creepy I don't recommend that one and you can choose quick responses so if you accidentally screen a call but you want to have the voice assistant ask something specifically you can choose all of those and add as many as you want I use this all the time for dealing with Spam calls it seems to frustrate people who are calling to try to scam you they hang up instantly get on with your day and you don't really waste any of your personal time it's one of my favorite features that the Galaxy phones have and of course if you're coming from a pixel it's very very similar to um Google's version for the pixel phones but they do not have this on yet on iOS the next is one-handed use there's a couple of ways that you can mitigate how tall this phone is so obviously it's a very tall phone and sometimes it's going to be difficult for you to deal with this in a one-handed way so if you go to settings and you search for one-handed mode it's actually in the advanced features but it's buried a little bit you'll find one-handed mode right here and what it allows you to do is temporarily scale down the display uh for easier control of your phone so if you turn this on you can either have the gesture or a button the gesture is to swipe down the center of the bottom edge of the screen now basically the way this works is you just swipe down here then you can go ahead and just swipe down in the center it'll turn one-handed mode on you can double tap back here once you go out of the screen you'll get back as soon as you closed that device and go right back in so it's easy to get in and out of one-handed mode this is one way that you can use it another thing you can do for one-handed operation which I actually prefer is you can go into goodlock and download the module called oneand operation plus it's on the life up side what one hand operation plus allows you to do is it allows you to use these gesture handles on the left or the right to control various actions now what I typically do is I map my left handle to have a widgets pop up and I'll show you what it looks like looks like this I get my widgets pop up and I can add different widgets here that are of use to me and then when I long swipe up I get my quick launcher which is got all my different applications and then this gives me my Quick Settings when I do a long swipe down so oneand operation plus has a lot of amazing features I definitely recommend you dig into them I'll have a deep dive into this application and all the goodlock applications if you want to learn more about the good luck applications in general I'll drop a link below to my essential apps video for the s24 ultra where I talk about what this one does in detail along with all of the other good lock apps as well but for one-handed mode I definitely prefer this over the swipe down gesture that comes inside the standard settings the next thing is camera issues now there really is not much shutter lag on the s24 ultra in fact it's some of the most impressive performance I've seen from Samsung when it comes to mitigating shutter lag on this device they always have some but in my opinion it's been very good um I've seen very very minimal shutter lag from this obviously it's right up against my desk here so with it being so dark it's not going to perform it's going to take a minute cuz it was doing night mode but if you are experiencing some shutter lag or other issues with your camera one way you can help mitigate them is using the camera assistant application which also comes inside goodlock now if you're using a US version of the Galaxy s24 Ultra that's unlocked once you install camera assistant from goodlock you're going to see it inside the standard settings menu for your camera and if you go there there's a couple of things that you can tweak that you might want now there's a lot of different things in here but couple things to mitigate camera issues the first one is auto lens switching I always turn this off auto lens switching will make it use sometimes one of the other lenses like the wide angle or the zoom when you actually want to use the main lens giving you lower quality shots the other one is quick tap shutter this will take pictures as soon as you tap the shutter um and this does give you the perception that the shutter lag is lower of course it's really just taking the picture when you actually touch touch it instead of when you release your finger so it's really just a perception thing it's not really doing that another issue is if you notice blurry pictures you can prioritize Focus over speed but do note that this will actually make it seem like the pictures take longer to take and to process some other things you can do is turn on depth of field adapter correction anamorphic lens correction audio monitoring and change your camera timeout so quite a few things in here you can tweak that have to do specifically with how you take pictures um with perceived camera lag and also with the quality of your photos making sure that they stay in focus and the camera assistant is one of the things that I use to make sure I tweak my camera to get it exactly where I want it for the best performance the next thing is lag overall so I just mean General UI lag opening apps things like that I haven't noticed too many of them um obviously you guys saw there I'm doing a whole bunch of stuff here I just barely tapped it it was a little slow to open but I haven't noticed too many issues in day-to-day use but one complaint that people often have is that it does seem like the animations are laggy Etc there's one thing you can do about this that is usually my main suggestion and that is if you go down to developer options how do you turn this on well you go to about phone I'm going to go ahead and fast forward because I don't want to show my phone number here but once you go to about phone tap on software information you'll see this screen right here and then repeatedly tap on the build number and it will turn on developer mode which I already have on so once you do that let me go back go back to menus to the main settings you'll see developer options at the bottom and then you can go ahead and search for animations so go ahead and search this for animations and you'll see all the different animations that you can kind of look at here you can see the animation duration scale and you've actually got three different ones these all three can be changed from 1X to 0.5 so if you change these to 0.5 you're going to get something that certainly is perceived to be a little bit faster it's really just slowing down or speeding up the animations when you change this if you change all three it's certainly going to seem like you're zipping in and out of your applications a lot faster but it's really just removing some of that animation speed but people usually do find that very helpful the other thing that you can do is the auto optimization setting that you have inside device care so if you go inside device Care Auto optimization is right under the performance profile that I talked about before this will allow you to auto start your device ever so often I do it around 3:00 a.m. on like a Friday when I'm not using my phone for sure and this will make sure that your phone stays fresh clears out some of that stuff that's in the memory you know all those issues and also helps reduce lag quite a bit it's one of my favorite tools that Samsung offers you don't even have to think about it once you set it it automatically does it and usually when you're not using your phone the last two things are display saturation and always on display brightness control so I talked about display saturation one of my previous videos that that I made display saturation people keep saying that the display is less saturated on the s24 ultra which in some sense that's true there's less difference between Vivid mode and natural mode although there is still some difference there for sure Samsung is supposed to be issuing an OTA update that's going to add more Vivid options so I think you just have to wait for the software update right now there's not a lot you can do about that without having a third- party application which I usually don't recommend and the last one is always on display brightness now I understand a lot of people are frustrated about this one if you turn on the always on display there's no longer an option to choose the brightness of the display it has to stay on auto optimized brightness all the time some people don't like that but I don't think Samsung will bring this option back because they're worried about Burnin due to the new show lock screen wallpaper option Apple also does not let you adjust the always on display brightness now that they have this feature and I think that's why Samsung is going with that so I wouldn't expect that particular option to make a return which I know is going to disappoint a lot of people out there anyway hope you guys enjoyed the video if you did like comment subscribe hit the notification icon for future videos like this again if you're going to be ordering a Galaxy s24 Device check out my link mystery boxes if you're going to
