you ready for the zombie apocalypse man cuz it's coming there's not going to be a zombie apocalypse but you need to be ready in case life throws your curve [Music] bugging out is your last option bunkering in is way more preferred you're in familiar territory you're at home where your supplies are and it's really important to plan that way but one of the things that you never know may happen in different situations is you know you have to leave your home for whatever reason and if it comes to that you've got your bug out bag ready so today we're going to take a look at putting together a bug out bag now I've done this in the past it's been a good long while and it's time really to update showing you what I'm doing now for my bug out bag you know guys the problem with being on the bug out is that you're like a refugee you're just out in the elements and anything can happen especially if you have loved ones and family with you so we're going to take a look though it being as prepared as you can be using your bug out bag now the backpack I'm using for my bug out bag setup is a gear Falcon from expedition really large there's a lot of different compartments you can really highly organize your gear that's one thing you don't want just one solid bag where you're having to dig through it have it compartmentalized into different sections and we'll get into that when I pull the gear out this bag with everything in it and that includes a canteen full of water which you really need to go ahead and have some water set aside ready to get to this whole bag weighs just under 25 pounds weighs about 24 to 5 pounds and so you know it's not light but it's got a lot of gear in here and one of the things I'm big on when setting up my packs is the rule of threes and that's three seconds without hope well we have hope because we've put this together three minutes without air three hours in harsh conditions and then we have three days without water three weeks without food and medical and self-defense kind of flow in and out of that so this kind of gives you just a basis on how I pack my bag now on the outside of the bag I do keep really important things like this med kit trauma kit and this is from coyote tactical solutions really streamlined kit it does come with all the with the tourniquet cat tourniquet and all the things you need for a trauma situation but I also add one of the EDC kits from amp 3 this is just a basic what I like to call booboo kit but this has all the essentials for everyday little scrapes and bruises and there's enough room in here to keep it with the trauma kit so trauma kits are super important but you also need just that regular small kit for just little small scrapes and bruises of course it does fit on the outside of my bag and then I also keep water which is super important right here we've got one of the indoor canteens and this has a filter system built into it you can see the filter right here I go ahead and put water in it but I can filter my water carry my water as well but then also I like this canteen style because I can keep one of the cups in here and this is great for being able to boil water or drink water or whatever right here and these are just the old-style military-issue now here are the contents of the bag laid out one of the things that's a given to me is to have your EDC and that's your concealed carry also a knife flashlight possibly a multi-tool your phone your keys and then also a good pair of shoes now if you're like me and I wear flip-flops a lot having a good pair of boots or shoes that are you can really go through rubble and things like that are really important or good walking shoes and this also has to do with climate if you hit live in a colder climate or a hotter climate you're going to want to adjust it somewhat a small little EDC kit makes things a lot easier keep all of my essentials in here and really if I need just to grab something and run this is what I'd want to have I have a lot of the essentials in here whether it's fire starting light multi-tool knife but also have some other things like some chapstick a little bit of some ibuprofen a small little boo-boo kit or some band-aids some antiseptic wipes and stuff like that I do have one of the small right in the rain pads in a pen and also a pocketknife this is one of the max petitions and then also of course with a little multi-tool like this and this is the sidekick kind of small extra batteries as you can see again redundant fire starting with one of the new myth lighters these are great little lighters and you know just a different way but also I like just have the regular Bix and I keep those typically in my pocket this is also a fire starter here and you can scrape and then I keep fire tender in the bottom which again is Vaseline and cotton balls and this is waterproof it seals up it's really easy to stow and then I have the Griffon which is a pocket tool there's a ton of different uses a pry bar I can do a hex drivers bottle opener I can measure a small screwdriver just a ton of different tools this is a great little item now considering you have three hours in harsh conditions being able to protect yourself from the elements whether it's hot or cold and even in those temperatures sometimes you know days can be hot nights can be cold first thing is I wanted to have something that I could wrap up in this is just a fleece little pullover even in it's light weight so even in the summertime I can wrap up in this and not get overheated but it does give me an extra layer of protection a pair of gloves which of course keeps your hands warm but also great for a lot of things and these are the no max gloves they're not going to catch on fire and you can really grab hot items just have some kind of ball cap here I have one of the hex tarps and this is just a nice tarp with an emergency space blanket reflective signaling inside so I can use it as a signal base I can use it for wrapping up and keeping warm but it does keep the rain off snow and other elements or Sun then I have the SOL escape bivy and this is I've done a review on this but it's just more like a very thin sleeping bag but it has the reflective material so it's really lightweight real handy but yet this can really keep you warm and then to just for those on the move when you're in training the survival poncho this also has the reflective heat element as well then I have a shemagh and this is great for being able to wrap it on nag your head keeping you warm or keeping the Sun off and then we have my fire kit and this is a very important element of the bug-out bag now redundancy is very important especially with really critical things like your ability to make fire I keeping this little small Maxpedition EDC bag and it stays that way and in here I have multiple ways to start fire whether it's a standard bic lighter which obviously is the easiest to use but these can go out i've had a number of things like that happened also as a lighter i have one of the new Mithila lighters having some lifeboat matches right here and you know these are waterproof you can actually dip them in water is there lit and they'll come back and this is a really great match source to me the best some Vaseline and cotton balls right in here just keeps it really away from the elements but I also have some right here in the back and this is the best fire tender in my opinion as far as cheap it's easy to make and you can keep a lot of it in different places and it burns for a long time also I have a Fresnel lens this is if I need to you know start fire using the Sun and of course a really solid fire steel and with the striker and this gives you thousands of Sparks and ways to light this is really important tool to me and this is actually a little bit larger than typical then we have some of the trout saying fire-starting tabs which these are used by the US military or have been in the past I just keep a little bit back there and this is pretty much my fire kit it's just again very redundant multiple ways to start fire and everything together in this one little place I don't have to go searching in multiple places having a good pair of wool socks is critical especially if you're on your feet you can take the others out wash them dry them you want to protect your feet when you're on the go some good wool nice blend socks are important and really high quality and also to me one of the most important things to carry in the wilderness is a heavy meal trash bag and here got one wrapped up it's one of the big industrial type trash bags and you can put these in multiple packs it's really cheap now on here I have zip ties but these are very special zip ties you actually compress and these are reusable so I can use them and then I can press this little lever and then open them up reuse them open them up these are fantastic and so I just keep them on here to keep this together but I have zip ties to be able to make shelter if I need to now having a good light source is obviously critical especially in the dark and I like to go with a couple of different things definitely a nice solid flashlight that gives me a lot of lumens this Oh light m20x warrior is just phenomenal plus it's a self-defense option as well with the crenulated bezel and so that really helps and it gives me redundancy there plus I like to have a headlamp and it's a hands-free option which is really just very important in so many situations and this is one of the little spark this is the sg5 and this wraps around but it can you can also take this off and use it separately if you need to and it's still a really great viable source for light you can see it's very bright and it really works great extra batteries are a must and I'm using the cr123 S or the rechargeable 18 650 these are rechargeable I think for really a serious bug out I would probably go with standard just like here the cr123 s and I have these in one of these little tubes that keeps it completely waterproof and since we're speaking of backups this is a backup battery charger I can charge my phone I can charge all kinds of different things with this charger and it has this is actually the dark energy charger and this is really excellent has two USB ports and another port to be able to use for your cord to charge it there's also a light you can see we can double click it also has a strobe feature or a signaling feature and you can see here where they how much is charged check it this is waterproof in fact you can even shoot this as someone with bullet proof and a very tough charger and we're getting ready to review that and then with the cable itself you've got paracord so this is a backup P record option also one thing that I do keep in that bag as well is this little county comm and this is a small little radio you can program this for a number of different channels whether it's FM AM shortwave you can scan I mean this thing has a ton of features and it's it gives you time it's just it's just a great little way to communicate and being able to hear what's going on in the outside world and so this is something that I highly recommend one of your modes of communication outside of your cell phone and also a ham radio get your ham license and you'll be able to carry this but even if you don't have a ham license you can monitor the ham frequencies to know what's going on and in an emergency situation you are allowed to use ham but it has to be an emergency situation now as far as a food source I have one of the lifeboat bars these are energy bars they're really great this is 1,200 calories I do have some that are 3,000 calories that typically I'll carry I just happen to have this one available also some mountain house food this takes some preparation so even though this is really good and something a little different than this you can eat this on the go which makes it nice and I have one of these little iota from CRKT to be able to eat also a bottle opener and screwdriver and a fork and a small little stove and this is one of the BCB aluminum stoves and I keep Vaseline and cotton balls tucked in here is a fuel source but you can also feed small sticks of wood and things like that to be able to use this and this will prop open and then I can use my canteen cup to be able to set on here now this is something I like to kind of call my survival section I have a small little SAS survival guide it's a very condensed version of the classic with a lot of information also I have a small little BCB survival kit this is one of the mountain survival tins and I've had it packed away I had some tape across here to rip this up there's a ton of different survival related items in here everything you can think about sewing kids safety pins even a striker matches just all kind of stuff in this little 10 so a little survival ten is neat to have just to go along very compact have some binding wire have a small little fishing kit that's wrapped up in this little PVC lid which is really great some duct tape wrapped around a credit card you can also wrap it around a mirror with this and I believe the inside of this lid is a mirror for signaling and then also some glow sticks in case you want to be found and then I have some camouflage face paint in case you don't want to be found so these are just some what I call my survival kit now I have some safety glasses in a bandana and this is in case of a where there's a lot of debris around there things flying around you know sunglasses work fine but not at night and so having some clear safety glasses this will protect your eyes and then we have the bandana to protect your face of course the bandana can be used for so many different ways also we showed the shemagh a minute ago that can also be used to cover your face get you out of the Sun and and then a good pair of gloves which we've shown and some good boots those protect you and those are important to have cordage is next and having paracord can be used for so many different things and this is one of the spool tools and I have some fire cord on here which is really excellent this is actually you can use this for a fire starter this the spool tool itself comes with a cutter and also with a small lighter so this is pretty much self-contained and my favorite way to carry paracord and we have the paracord bracelet which is very useful now this one actually has some survival items in here but you can put this on your wrist carry it you get right to it if you need more you can go to your pack and get more cordage now personal hygiene items toilet paper keep it waterproof you can't just wrap it up I like to have one of this just a smaller rolled and mash it down and this is a standard toothbrush it's been cut to make it really small having a little baking soda or a little tube of toothpaste which int Berta Lee didn't put in here I took it out and then this is a little one of these little cloths that once you use it it expands way out so you can keep it like this until you need it some 5-hour energy drink this is just not really for hygiene but this will keep you awake if you need to you know to be on the move and then we have some fight soap from ivy eight eight eight Erick was giving these away and this is just great stuff it's in a container so even if it gets you know wet and you're using it you can close it up in here and it keep from being so messy wet wipes would also be a good option to keep with this and you know you just want to do the basics insect repellent also goes along with personal hygiene and there are a lot of diseases and things that go on and having some insect repellent just makes the trip a lot better now one of your best survival tools out there is a good knife and a fixed blade knife especially one that's full tank a good quality knife is even better this is one of the fight for survival knives this is by up-armored knives will Wehling incredible this is my favorite knife and for bug out I want the best it's not cheap but it's great and it comes in this really cool sheath that has a soft lining to keep it quiet and also a firesteel that's built in so I've got redundant fire capability here we have a compact saw we have a Gerber knife sharpener SOG power assist pliers great multi-tool and a lot of capability and then just some binoculars these are some little tasks oh 8 by 21s very compact and being able to see what's going on right in the rain pad these are invaluable and you know you can write in full water on the pages one of the space pens really works well with these or a pencil and then I just have a small little pen here also a map and this is one thing we overlook because we're so used to GPS this is for our area and it's actually the southeastern part of the United States so it's a pretty broad eastern United States but it gives me a lot of information you can do something more locally it might actually be better and then one of the Thomas J Glover's Pocket references this is there's so many different things you can find in here so many different references from constellations to tying knots to conversion tables to signaling just a ton of different information that supplements your SAS because this could be something you need in a more urban environment and that's not necessarily something that's just shtf but something to use for a lot of different things and this will give you the answers and some extra magazines for your concealed carry or if you want to carry an extra firearm in your bag gonna be carrying a Glock model 19 and I've got extra 17 round magazines I could add others but this you get the point having extra magazines is critical one thing too is if you're carrying a rifle and of course you'll want to carry those magazines as well having them secured or a way to carry them and this even if I want to slip it through my belt loop these Molly attachments will work one thing that's easy to forget are important documents and first thing you want are current photos of you and your family because if one of them gets separated you've got something for people to see also you know again important documents like your driver's license your address you know phone numbers insurance policies things like that you can just copies of those that you can carry with you in case you're on the road or you're running out having those tucked away is really smart one thing too is having a small book with all the important phone numbers because we have cell phones now it's real easy just to hit the different contacts and we don't even know the numbers that we're calling so having a backup a hard copy in case you drop your phone in the river or it gets wet and you're no longer able to use it but there's still phone coverage or you can get to a some kind of landline and so having those numbers you can get and having emergency numbers all along as well so there's a lot to think about and there's a lot that I haven't even covered and to be honest with you you got to trim it down once you get your pack put together take it out walk around with it make sure that it's manageable and guys I'm telling you a great thing to do is is put it on and just go hiking and get used to what the packs weighing find the hot spots and you'll be a lot more comfortable in an emergency situation being familiar going through your pack putting together a bug-out bag is one of those things you just seem to put off or you don't keep the supplies you need together in one of these bags you're robbing from it you're taking things out guys get your bug out bag dedicated and if there are things that you find you're pulling out of your bag on a regular basis just buy a duplicate and put that in your go bag or your get home bag and you know I made a video a while back about how many bags do you need well is according to the situation this is a full-out bug out bag this is if you're going to hit the road and you've got to go this should be what you need to survive remember that if you can survive the first 72 hours of any crisis your chances of survival increased dramatically even the federal government recognizes a need to have a bug-out set up in your home and in your vehicle and you can go to ready.gov if you want more information about that you're shtf doesn't mean that it affects the whole world doesn't mean that it affects our country it could just be your personal shtf so be ready for it and with a good bag with the supplies you need it doesn't take a whole lot but putting those supplies together it would be invaluable so having a bug-out bag for survival thumbs way up be strong be of good courage god bless america long live the Republic [Music] Oh [Music] been a while since we've done a bug-out bag so I thought today is to have your 80s the heck was that and I have one of these little small eat these i3e of course obviously extra battery okay but obviously extra batteries are in an emergencies and then uh then we have some now cordage way to carry Perry okay which you can act we can use this now one of your biggest tools now one of your best tools now one of your best survival tools you can still get Sony you know even in ages uh there's not going to be a zombie apocalypse but you better be ready in case anything does happen [Music]
