[Music] jesus you are the city [Music] oh [Applause] well if jesus is the center of your joy why don't you just take another moment and give him praise without anybody telling you what to say hallelujah oh god we just give you praise and glory and honor tonight we praise you lord for another opportunity to be in the house of worship you're so good to your people we cannot help but praise you even as the psalmist determined three times a day then later he decided seven times finally he said from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same the lord's name is worthy to be praised so lord we praise you because you are worthy we worship you because you're a god we ask tonight if you would just anoint these lips of clay that we might speak words of spirit and life to your people let the adversary be rebuked hallelujah anoint these lips of clay hide us behind your glorious cross and cover us with your precious blood allowing no flesh to glory in your sight and whatever you do in our midst tonight lord we take no credit but we give you all the glory the honor and the praise through jesus christ our lord we ask amen and amen give the lord another hand to praise and you may be seated sweet jesus sweet jesus he's the lily of the valley [Music] [Music] him he's my savior [Music] oh sweet jesus [Music] sweet oh yes i do give praise glory and honor to god our heavenly father my blessed lord and savior jesus christ and it is certainly my joy once again to be back in california northwest with your jurisdictional prelate uh my dear friend and secretary of the general board the inimitable bishop w w hamilton [Applause] and we also recognize the first lady of the jurisdiction and her absence on tonight's sister joy and we praise god tonight for bishop bob jackson [Music] and the supervisor for the department of women mother mary wells [Applause] i'm also happy to have with us on tonight the first and only um justice female justice of the judiciary board for the national church and we are so glad for judge b.j warren being here on tonight amen to the administrative assistants and superintendents pastors elders missionaries and saints of the most high god you can see my voice is a bit impaired on tonight we had in memphis this week the national baptist convention congress of education and we had so many hundreds of delegates that attended our church all day sunday and tuesday night and this is the first time in a long time uh i'm here tonight after having preached three times sunday tuesday night and then last night in dallas uh what is this my sixth message for the week uh i haven't done that in a while and so if my voice is a bit uh husky then you can understand but i trust that in spite of that the lord will say something that will be a blessing to his people on tonight i wanted to talk about something else but last night in dallas the lord dropped the message in my spirit that i feel i want to also share with you here in san jose on tonight and this message is found in the old testament um you can look in the book of second kings chapter 20. i want to read the first seven verses you can also find this same uh story in the book of the prophet isaiah because it deals with the life of king hezekiah and we want to focus on the healing of king hezekiah well somebody would say preacher why would you come up with a healing message in the jurisdictional convocation one reason is because of the fact that i am keenly aware that the saints of god are under attack i don't know if i've ever seen as much sickness [Music] illness disease infirmity in the body of christ as there is today i was also brought to remembrance of the fact that as a youngster growing up in the church of god in christ i can remember [Music] in my childhood days bishop mason in his active years he was [Music] you know he would pray three hours or so and after the prayer he'd teach and after teaching he lay hands on the people but i also saw him on the decline [Music] and in those last few years if they put him up he might stand up and just look say nothing and then say any sick folk here and he'd take out that little all squirtle bottle that he had and the people would line up and he'd squirt all and they'd be running all in folks eyes and everywhere but the last concern that he had was that god would heal his people and i just believe tonight that there's somebody in this building that god has designed this night to be your night and it's not going to come from the laying on of hands because i read in the bible that he sent his word and healed them there's a power in the word of god that we can let it slip or we can catch a hope acts chapter 10 verse 44 while peter yet spake these words the holy ghost fell on all them that heard the word so as the word of god goes forth absolutely anything that the people of god need can happen just during the proclaiming of god's word and it's not always how loud it's not always about tuning up it's just a matter of believing that god said it and that he meant what he said oh yes i'm afraid that our nation is on a collision course with god's divine judgment because of the fact that we don't seem to believe that god means what he says i was riding the airplane today from dallas texas to san jose and decided to just get one of the magazines ebony magazine and and just read it and uh read that particular article in the july issue where they are asking the question you know is gay rights a civil rights issue and to see how some people can be so confused and i know i'm in the bay area i know that but there is a difference between civil rights and giving any group of people a license to do wrong and when all is said and done the saints of god we're going to be judged in accordance to how we measure up to god's word uh elder harris you're right i know the bible is right and somebody's wrong and as people of god we're gonna have to learn how to stand four square on the word of god if you have it in your bible second kings chapter 20 i don't want to be before you long but i've told you all before that when i'm tired that long-winded spirit falls on me and i'm just a little tired but i'm going to do my best not to be that long second kings chapter 20 i want to read the first seven verses in those days was hezekiah sick unto death and the prophet isaiah the son of amos came to him and said unto him thus saith the lord set thine house in order for thou shalt die and not live then he turned his face to the wall and prayed unto the lord saying i beseech thee oh lord remember now how i have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart and have done that which is good in thy sight and hezekiah wept sore and it came to pass before isaiah was gone out into the middle court that the word of the lord came to him saying turn again tell hezekiah the captain of my people thus saith the lord the god of david thy father i have heard thy prayer i have seen by tears behold i will heal thee on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the lord and i will add unto thy days fifteen years and i will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of assyria and i will defend this city for my own sake and for my servant david's sake and isaiah said take a lump of figs and they took and laid it on the boil and he recovered may the lord bless the readers and hearers of his word so i want to talk to you as i said about the healing of king hezekiah and the one point that i want you to understand tonight hebrews 13 8 jesus christ the same yesterday and today and fire he was a healer yesterday and that same healing god has not lost his power when you read there in the 15th chapter of the book of exodus after moses had led the children of israel out of the land of egypt and they came to this certain place where the waters were bitter and god spoke to moses and told him to cast in a tree and the bitter waters were made sweet and there the lord gave to moses and the children of israel a new name i believe if you look around verse 25 he says for i am the lord that healeth thee if you go back and look at it in the original hebrew it simply says i am jehovah rapha i am the lord thy physician well what kind of a physician is he you know that today if you are suffering from some particular illness you'll go to a general practitioner who has skill in the broad range of medical science but when he narrows it down to a particular uh complaint of a particular part of the body many times a specialist is called in uh if it happens to be a condition in the heart they'll call in the cardiologist if it has to to be something in the man's urinary tract they're going to call in the urologist there is a specialist in every situation but i want you to know the lord simply says i am the lord thy physician and wherever you need healing in he is the specialist in that particular area as i read god's word the lord promised that he healed the stroke of their wounds he also said that he would heal the broken heart he also said that he would bind up or that he would heal the breach and then he said he healed all manner of sickness and diseases somebody tonight will say preacher i've got a clean bill of health from the doctor i don't have any kind of physical malady but maybe there is a relationship a breach that needs to be healed maybe you're still hurting and this is a hurting world you got a lot of women who ended up in the lesbian lifestyle because they got hurt by a man and there is still a broken heartedness toward a wholesome relationship between the woman and another man their relationships their people living in homes together husband and wife but there is a breach that needs to be healed oh yes there are a whole lot of situations that need to be healed somebody said well the healing that i need is in the area of finances but i want you to know that our god is able to heal no matter what the situation may be and another thing you need to understand is that you cannot tell him how to do it no no he's got so many ways that he can do what he wants to do those bitter waters were healed when moses cast in a branch uh in the life of jesus christ he healed by sometimes as he did with the centurion servant the centurion said just speak your word so he healed by speaking the word then here was a man that was born blind and he spit in the man's eyes and said go to the pool of salome and wash and the man washed and came back seeing that was the woman with the issue of blood all she did was touched the hymn of his garment then in the ministry of apostle paul the bible said that went from his body hank achieves our aprons and diseases departed from them and the evil spirits went out of them and when you get to acts chapter 8 philip went down to the city of samaria and preached christ and as he preached people that were lame were healed people that were sick with palsy were healed and the end result there was great joy in that city so the thing we've got to understand is that god has so many different ways of healing his people oh i know this is a day when people watch television and they want to see some man or some woman who advertise themselves as being some great healer but when i read the bible in the old testament god had special men whom he used that was moses later on there came uh the prophet elijah then there was elisha and in the new testament jesus came on the scene as god's miracle man but he called 12 and gave to the twelve the same power and gave them power to preach the gospel and to cast out devils to cure diseases and when he saw the time was winding up in the 10th chapter of luke he called another 70. and gave them the same power but after he went to the cross and went to the grave got up with all power in his hand 40 days later when he got ready to go back to the throne room he said i'll tell you what these signs shall follow them not the 12 not the 70 but everybody that is a believer any believers in here he said in my name they will cast out devils they'll lay hands on the sick and the sick shall recover and if you are a believer you don't have to pay plain fair to go to nobody's healing revival god gave you a power in your own hand hallelujah let me get back to hezekiah the bible says here and if you want to read the entire story of king hezekiah read not only chapter 20 in second kings but read chapters 18 19 and 20. all turn to the book of the prophet isaiah and read chapters 36 37 and 38 and in either place you will see the story of king hezekiah now here we are dealing in chapter 20 with his sickness and his healing the astounding thing about it is that the devil has not changed from hezekiah's day to our day hezekiah's sickness came immediately following a tremendous victory and it looks like the devil waits until that time when you are gloating in a great victory when you were just walking tall and feeling like oh my i've conquered the enemy and all of a sudden boom here he comes with another death blow uh hezekiah had just experienced the hand of god delivering him and the children of judah the southern kingdom of israel out of the hands of king sanakarib who was the king of the assyrian empire sennacherib had sent word to king hezekiah uh he sent his ambassador and they invaded the southern kingdom of judah and rabsheika the one that was the representative of the sennacheria came to the walls of the city of jerusalem and began to proclaim in a loud and vulgar fashion that i'm going to destroy this nation and where is that god that you think can deliver you out of my hand and he went on talking about the other nations that he had destroyed and you need to read it because some of the things that are there even though it's in the bible i don't even care to repeat it when i preach but he said some vulgar things that he was going to do concerning the men of judah and when the men who were representing king hezekiah said to rapshacker don't speak in the language of the hebrew people uh we understand the assyrian language speak in the language of your native tongue so that our people won't hear what you're saying but they want it to intimidate the people of god and that's characteristic of the devil the devil is always trying to say things that will get you unnerved and make you believe that he is going to destroy you he's like the big bad wolf that has uh determined to huff and puff and make you think that he can blow your house down but i want you to know that if your house is founded on the bedrock of god's word that the enemy can huff and puff all he wants to but he'll never blow your house down yes so they kept on trying to get a rap shaker to kind of soften the tone but he got louder and after a while he just put a letter into the hands of those representatives of king hezekiah talking about how he was going to destroy judah and they took the letter and gave it to hezekiah heather kyle read it he knew that the little southern kingdom of judah was defenseless against mighty assyria you gotta understand that when the kingdom split between jeroboam and rehoboam that the northern kingdom of israel that's where the numerical strength was ten tribes were in the north but only two tribes were in the south so the southern kingdom of judah did not have a large army hezekiah read the letter and he recognized i have no power to fight against the king of assyria so he took the letter and went into the temple and spreaded it out before god in other words he said god i can't handle this so this is your mail and every once in a while when you get those threatening letters you got to learn how to spread it before god oh i know somebody's saying bishop what do you mean threatening letters you know when you get that cut off notice concerning your utility uh yeah when the card know is behind and they've already told you they're going to send the tow truck or maybe it's a foreclosure notice on the house or it could be the pink slip letting you know you're about to be laid off from your job or even worse still what about the lab report when you just went and had the blood test and the lab report doesn't look very good and maybe you don't know what to do i'm here to tell you that you can take all of that threatening mail and you can tell god lord this is your mail you read it hallelujah and i declare he knows how to read the devil's mail he knows how to read every threat that comes into your mailbox or over your telephone hallelujah hezekiah took the letter spreaded it out before god and oh god answered that mail that same night you see i'm trying to stay down when he prayed and put the letter on the altar before god god looked out at the assyrian camp and saw at least 185 000 enemy soldiers every one of those soldiers could have driven a spear through the heart of king hezekiah in other words he had a hundred and eighty five thousand problems but in one night god hallelujah i often say that the angel is not named so mother welch he didn't call gabriel he didn't call michael he didn't refer it to one of the archangels he said 185 000 soldiers any one of my angels can take care of that looked over in the corner hey you go down one angel one unnamed angel when he got through flapping his wings in the assyrian camp a hundred and eighty five 000 assyrian soldiers were dead god solved 185 000 problems in one night i don't care how many problems you've got there's nobody in here that's got a hundred and eighty-five thousand problems hallelujah and the thing about it it didn't take god weeks and months he did it all in one night it doesn't matter what your condition is healing of a broken heart putting of a marriage back together healing of the finances healing your sick body god can turn it around i don't know how many times i've preached it get ready for the 24 hour turnaround you can go to bed tonight one way and wake up in the morning another way i just wish you'd get up and tell three people get ready for the 24-hour turnaround [Music] [Applause] hallelujah [Applause] [Music] oh i feel my help coming now [Music] when when god got through delivering israel lost judah from the hands of sanakoria the next thing happened hezekiah got sick and the prophet isaiah i'm not talking about a false prophet but i'm talking about one of god's major prophets isaiah son of amos came to see king hezekiah said thus saith the lord set your house in order uh when i was a little boy i thought that meant go in the living room and clean up put the chairs back in order sweep the dust off the floor but i learned he wasn't talking about cleaning up the physical house but set your business in order if you haven't written a will write it if you haven't decided which one of your sons will succeed you on the throne go ahead on and make your decision you must die and can't live this is a death sentence that came from god himself but i want you to know prayer change this thing does anybody in here no prayer changes things it doesn't matter what the doctor said the doctor might say you got six months but if god said live there's not a disease that can kill you there's not a demon in hell that can kill you if god said live you got to live hallelujah oh my god y'all sit down you're rushing me [Music] even in the book of ezekiel the lord says to his people that your mother was a hittite and when i passed by and i saw you polluted in your own blood and i said unto you live hallelujah and i want you to know when god says live death can't claim you i hear god pleading with somebody tonight you've just about given up because of a condition in your body but i hear god saying live i just wish you tell the person on the right and left of you god says liver hallelujah when hezekiah heard the death sentence the bible said he turned his face to the wall i want you to know that sometimes it doesn't do any good to turn to your friends doesn't do any good to turn to your relatives sometimes it doesn't even help to turn to your prayer partner because sometimes you wonder how your business got out and it got out through your prayer partner when you really get in trouble you got to learn how to face the wall facing the wall god i'm hemmed in there's nowhere for me to go i'm under a death sentence but i'm facing the wall and i'm telling you lord i don't want to die the reason i don't want to die is because the dead can't praise you in the dark halls of death there is no such thing as praise but i want to live so i can give you glory [Music] and he told the lord lord let me hold up my life you know how i've walked up rightly before you how i've served you with a perfect heart and i just don't want to go now and before the prophet could get across the middle court the prayer of hezekiah praying with tears can i hear you say praying with tears i know men don't think it's macho to pray i'd rather to cry that's why he faced the wall maybe you don't want your wife to see you cry maybe you don't want your church members to see you cry but god made the tear ducts the overflow valves to the heart and i hear david saying hear my prayer oh god from the ends of the earth will i cry unto thee oh when my heart is overwhelmed leave me to that rock that is higher than i he prayed and his prayers went up the wall and rang out in the throne room and god spoke to isaiah and said go back tell him i've reversed my sentence go back tell him that he don't have to die go back tell him i've given him 15 more years hallelujah can somebody hear that in your spirit tonight god is saying your life has been extended but he's extending it in order that you can praise him like you never praised him you don't have no time to waste he's given you an extension in order that you can lift up his name yay listen when isaiah told him that god said you don't have to die he's going to add 15 years you can imagine that heather kyle was confused 15 minutes ago you told me i had to die and now you're telling me i got 15 years how do i know what to believe and i see isaiah when it took him by the hand and they stepped over to the entrance of the palace the father of hezekiah king ahaz had built the steps leading into the palace and had made it as a sundial where he could look at the steps and see the shadow of the sun and know what time it was he knew that as the sun descended that the shadow got longer but god said look at the shadow right now it's about 5 25 p.m but watch me as the shadow begins to back up and as it backs up look at it now it was 5 25 and now it's about 2 30. you got 15 more years i've extended your life and i've backed up the clock in order to let you know you got more time yeah i want you to know the same god that healed hezekiah he's the same today yesterday and forever whatever your condition is i know a man i know a man i know a man that can heal soul and body he can heal all manner of disease does anybody know his name what is his name can i hear you shout gee [Applause] [Music] i'm gonna close but i'm glad that this god i serve he's still a healer he's got all power in his hands if your body suffers pain and your health you can't regain and if your soul is sinking in despair he knows the pain you feel he can say he can heal take your burdens get them all together take them to the lord and leave them leave them right there stand on your feet everybody oh thank you lord hallelujah i don't know who it is tonight and i'm not going to call a prayer line but i want every one of you i want you to turn to one somebody catch them by both of their hands if there's a third party near you let that third person be included in your circle i am healed by the wound in his eyes can you say it i am here [Music] by the wound [Music] in his sight [Music] i am healed by by the womb [Music] i am healed by the wound [Music] now the bible says confess your faults one to another pray one for another that you may be healed i don't want you to ask god to do anything for you but if you don't mind just take a moment and the person whose hand you're holding if you want to just tell them pray with me that the lord will heal my body or maybe you're standing by proxy for a family member hallelujah we're praying tonight the healing touch of god upon our first lady sister joy hamilton join me in praying for bishop samuel smith in memphis tennessee hallelujah just tell somebody tell them whoever it is or whatever it is you want them to pray and we're going to give this thing to the lord and when you walk out of here tonight oh glory to god it will never be the same again jesus [Music] said don't ask him to do nothing for you speak prophetic words to the one whose hand you're holding [Music] healing of god being your finances the healing of god in your emotions healing of god for your broken heart and broken spirit the healing of the lord god be in your body this sickness this illness this disease this infirmity i cast it out in the name of jesus woman the lord heal you woman god heal you woman god heal you man god sets you free glory hallelujah hallelujah receive it receive it now in the name of jesus from the crown of your head to the soul of your feet say hallelujah god rebuke that my grand headache hallelujah that here condition that i condition that knows that throat condition hallelujah that heart complaint that kid in the ailment jesus that pancreatic condition that stomach condition that condition in the female organs in the male organs god healed that blood pressure god regulated be healed in the name of jesus satan take your hands off shed about her say healing is going forth right now begin to give believing hand lay it on somebody and tell them in the name of jesus i command you to be healed be delivered and be set free [Applause] receive it in the name of jesus receive it in the name of jesus [Music] now i need you to kind of move around because as you move around every step you take you're stepping on the devil's head find at least seven people and tell every one of them the same thing in the name of jesus i command you to be healed be delivered and be set free in the name of jesus be healed be delivered be set free don't nobody go out the door don't go out the door crazy [Music] so so [Music] so [Music] i'm gonna close out but as i told the people last night and i'd already said it in memphis i've been preaching it that the lord is a healer i've been laying hands on folks but for the first 64 years of my life i never knew what it was to be sick but but somehow after the memphis convocation i was sick then but was floating on some kind of super natural strength and after that i got sick people were calling saying see bishop on television lost all this weight what's wrong went and got the colonoscopy and they said well you got a polyp but it's not cancerous then a week or two later went down my throat in my stomach and said got an ulcer then they said you anemic then my doctor said your psa is way up went back 30 days later he said it's way down [Applause] and i found out that the same god that i preached to others and told them that he'd heal them i found out in my own body that he is still a god of miracles somebody in here tonight you're going to go home and you're going to find out see everybody doesn't get healed while they're in the service but you read the bible and say it came to pass as they went what do you mean you get up in the morning and go to work or you'll get up and come to the meeting and the next thing you'll know that conditions you won't even know when it left he'll heal you while you're here and he'll heal you as you go but all i want you to do is claim it let the devils in hell know ah i'm here [Applause] [Music] lower [Applause] take your seat for a moment hallelujah [Music] hallelujah he is the lord that healeth thee [Music] he is the lord you're here he sent his words and healed your disease he is the law you're here can you just tell somebody that he is the law [Music] that he let thee he is the lord [Music] you're healer oh he sent his word and healed your disease he is the law you're here i wish you say that with me and make it personal he is the lord that healeth me that he left me he's the lord my healer he heals the lord my healer he sent his word he sent his word and healed my disease he is the lord [Music] that he left me hear the lord my healer oh he sent his word and healed my disease [Music] he is the lord my come on and give the lord another hand of praise [Music] saints of god tonight before i close let me ask every one of you in this building to give to the lord a thanksgiving offering
