why don't you reach over and tell somebody neighbor the Lord won't lift you up and then let you down alleluiah Florida Jesus he won't lift you up [Music] when the Lord lifts one to a higher pinnacle than they have ever seen before whether it is in physical health and financial prosperity no matter what it is when you find yourself standing on a higher peak than you have ever stood before the devil tries to inflict panic by telling you you wouldn't be feeling this good if something wasn't about to happen and when he infiltrates your mind with negative thoughts and with ideals of defeat the next thing you know you find yourself falling down from your lofty mountaintop but God didn't throw you down you allowed your own wrong thinking to throw you down when we study the life of Jobe many of us think that job's calamity was a result of the conversation that God had with the devil and the Lord removing the hedge but finally as we read the Bible we find out what happened to Joel when his calamity befell him Jobe said the thing which I greatly feared has come upon me with all of his wealth and with his family and everything going his way he lived with inner fears and it was ultimately his own de fear his own fears that defeated him and when the Lord lifts you up don't even think about falling if you're feeling better than you've ever felt in your life keep on walking in hell if he's lifted you financially and materially thank God for the blessings and keep on climbing the only thing that will put you down is your only other fears touch somebody and tell them again neighbor God won't lift you up to let you down hallelujah [Music] now before I go any further let me say to those who are viewing this telecast that spirit-filled counselors are seated now at the telephone to receive your call and the counsel with you concerning your needs and also pray with you they're going to ask you for your name and address and zip code and all pertinent information because later on this week I want to follow up that telephone call by sending you a personal letter letting you know that we are praying for you in the midst of the problems of your life now that temple prayer line number is 5 to 6 h ELP 5 to 6 help if you live outside of the Memphis area you do need to prefix the number by dialing one nine zero one five two six help and someone will be there to receive your call I want also before getting into the message I want to just encourage somebody else you know many times when we enjoy the blessings of God we unwittingly give people the idea that the blessings of God are only for us but I want you to know that God would have all of his people blessed remember the Bible says what no scripture is of any private interpretation and when I read 3rd John 2 beloved I wish above all things that thou may it prosper and be in health that letter is written to the church in general that's not just written to Gilbert Patterson and bountiful blessings it's written to anybody that will believe Jesus said in that 11th chapter of the book of st. mark verse 22 have faith in God verse 23 for verily I say unto you that whosoever shall say under this mountain be thou removed and be thou cast into the sea and shall not doubt but shall believe in his heart that those things which he say it shall come to pass he shall have whatsoever he said now who is he talking to who so ever so the blessings of God that you see bestowed on us there for you too it's for anybody that will believe God and as we are making this videotape on Mother's Day 1983 it is wonderful what the Lord has done for a little better than 8 years ago when we moved into the old building temple of deliverance at 5:47 Mississippi Boulevard we moved into an old building a building that was in bad repair we did not even own enough land to park one car off of the street but the Lord began to open up the neighborhood he opened up and the service station that was just across Calhoun here where all of these streets intersect where Mississippi Calhoun and Butler intersect that was a closed up Union 76 service station but the Lord opened it up and gave us that property he also gave us another little house over there that was facing Butler you wouldn't know it now because all of that is parking lot then the Lord gave us the duplex which is where the entrance of our driveway is now and he gave us a grocery store closed up grocery store which is where the front door of temple of deliverance is now he gave us a two storey building over here that said something about mr. D's TV rental and you don't even remember that it was ever bad well something else that happened on yesterday from Rock Island Railroad in Chicago Illinois it came by Federal Express twelve point six three five acres I'm holding the deeds right now so all of that next door a man [Music] now many have not recognized how large that track is but right here where my finger is this is where we are this is all that we had at first right way I'm running my fingers as big as this temple live all of it is right here all of it is right here doesn't come up above this line it's just right down but now what the Lord gave us comes all the way down almost a full Street and it runs back for three city blocks y'all don't hear what I'm saying praise God praise God now I want to encourage that young man and and that woman that the Lord has called into the ministry and the devil is telling you you're never going to get out of your living room I want every choir member and every preacher to stand up and look at that camera in the balcony and I want you to point your finger into that camera and I want you to tell the folk that's watching what God has done for us by faith he'll do it for you a man somebody [Music] I won't i won't camera number two to turn around to the audience and i want the audience to stand up and I want you to face camera number two and I want you to tell people that are discouraged and disgusted because it looked like that church is moving anyway I want you to point in that camera and tell them it is no secret what God can do what he has done for us if you trust him he'll do it for you [Music] already Jesus now now somebody might not remember it was exactly four months ago the second Sunday in January exactly four months ago when we started receiving pledges and when the land was not ours and we said what holy city is a reality here and man a man somebody see that's what faith is about faith is about making a statement believe in God even when you don't see how it's gonna happen we haven't even cleaned that off yet it's nothing but empty land but we are making that affirmation of truth one more time today can you say that holy city is a reality here and [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] he won't let you he won't lift you up if you're trying to do a work for God you're gonna have a whole lot of people telling you you can't do that but I want to tell you he won't lift you up to let you down praise the Lord I want to also on today and Mother's Day with the bountiful blessings family is not like it is with a lot of people it's not a time of weeping over those dear ones who have departed sure we miss them but we bless their memory and then every mother whether a young mother or an aged mother whether a mother whose child was born in the blest bonds of matrimony or maybe it's a single parent that did not yield to the temptation to get rid of it recognize that it is a precious life we salute motherhood today and I wanted to just have a moment really a prayer but it's more a moment of affirming a truth today because I know that every mother under the sound of my voice you are plagued with problems they are the problems of the children there was the problem of that husband who is either there or not there it can be a problem either way but I want you to take the advice and this is not my message this is only a time of prayer I want you to take the advice that this Blessed Mother in second Kings the fourth chapter followed when the Prophet Elijah had prayed for this woman she wanted a child and somehow she felt that it was beyond her reach but the Lord let that child be born but it came to past and one day while he was out in the field with his father that the heat got the best of him and he fell down and by the time the father took him to the mother the child was dead she got up and went to see the Prophet and as she was on her way to the Prophet he spoke to his servant get hazy and said I want you to go on out there and meet up whatever has happened the Lord has hidden it from me and I don't know what it is but when you see her I want you to ask her verse 26 of second Kings 4 run now I pray thee to meet her and say unto her is it well with thee is it well with thy husband is it well with the child now remember the child is at home dead but what was her answer I want you to know mother that all is well it's whale you that's worried about that son that drug-addicted if you can believe God right now and exercise the faith this woman's child was dead when she left home he was dead she took the child in the room that had been built for the prophet and went on her way to see the man of God but she determined that God would not lift me up and then let me down like this when I didn't have a child I was brokenhearted because I didn't have one and I know God wouldn't give me the child and then snatch him so faith tells me it's way mother you've been still godliness in that daughter she's out there on the corner but you've been praying fine you taught her what was right before she went out back it's well I want you to quit weeping and quit crying sorrowful and despairing tears but I want every mother in here hallelujah I want you to get up on your feet right now and I want you to lift your hands to heaven and the uplifted hand is a sign of surrender us it's way [Music] it's way the way he acts but I put it in the hands of God and it's way I don't know what makes this child act the way he acts the money is shown look like I can't meet the obligation but the enemy wants me to put my head down in the spam and then defeat but I'm looking to Jesus and I'm saying as well and it is so it is so God from this moment you were in that child from the hand of Satan from this moment that alcoholic husband that drove addicted cha hallelujah hallelujah if you believe it's whale shout hallelujah hallelujah whoa lower into Jesus glory to Jesus [Music] pray for every mother that's sick today the every one of them who seemingly have lost their health touch that mother in heal about it in the name of Jesus strengthen right now God even opened the bathroom you can do it today I don't care what it is you got the power its way it's why it's why but somebody tell them as well as well it is well it is way [Applause] everybody in here just stand up and believe God by faith whatever your problem here whatever your need is shake hands with at least five people and tell them it is well [Music] more energy [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] give him a big hand to breathe and take you see loads of Jesus do you believe that do you receive it how to do you it won't do you no good if you don't receive it you know an individual could write you a cashier's check for $10,000 and as bad as you need the money and the check is written in your name but if you don't reach out your hand and receive it and accept it as yours the money is that but it won't do you any good it's well but it won't do you any good unless you receive it I [Music] want to speak with you quite briefly today and the message will be based on the story of the prodigal son as we refer to him in the fifteenth chapter of the book of st. Luke and it starts with verse 11 and continues for the balance of the chapter now god bless your shoes I'm not going to really read it verse by verse but the thing that I do want you to remember in the story is that finally ultimately after problems after heartaches after heart breaks after hungry days after humiliating experiences that young man finally came home and that's the emphasis of the message today all that we need is at home [Music] can you say that all that I need is at home now first of all let me explain what I mean by that when I say whom I am NOT talking about my particular residents nor your particular residents as it relates to street address city state and zip when I say home I'm not necessarily talking about the congregation of a particular church building where your membership is but when I say all that I need all that we need is at home I simply mean that all that we need is in the presence of our Heavenly Father we're not really told where this particular man that Jesus talked about lived we don't really know where he resided but the only thing we do know is that wherever this father resided he had living with him enjoying and sharing in his wealth two sons and when that one son finally the youngest son I might add when he came to a point where he was tired of being at home he asked his father to give me the portion of goods that falleth to me now think about this any child that receives from his father or mother from his parents jointly and inheritance that inheritance only becomes his because of the fact that the parents have died now the fact that this father gave to his sons what was considered bath portion without the father himself being dead that lets me know that God is the father represented here and Jesus has already gone by way of the grief and in search he has become the mediator of the New Covenant through the death of Jesus Christ all of the inheritance that belongs to the children of God belong to us right now because if you're waiting for God to die in order to get anything you'll never have it because the psalmist said thou art from everlasting to everlasting and when we read our synopsis of what we believe we believe in that one God he is omnipotent meaning he is all-powerful he is omniscient meaning that he is all-knowing he is omnipresent meaning that he is present everywhere now if his children we already have an inheritance that has been willed to us through the death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ now when a person dies and leaves an estate that is an executor to carry out the orders that are written in the wheel so when Jesus died that was when he willed us the goodness of God but when he arose again he became the mediator of the same wheel that he died to put into effect so to make sure that the thing is carried out the way he wanted he is the one that's mediating it he is the one that's issuing out to us the good that has been reserved for us now look at the story the young man wanted to go away from home and the Lord gave me to know that it was only through ignorance that he left home ignorance in two particular arenas first of all he was ignorant of what he had at home sometimes the blessings of God can be so free so abundant so bountiful a bestowed upon us that we take those blessings for granted believe it or not most children and I happen to have been in that category that my parents brought us up and of course my sister Mary she always more or less worked but the majority of us didn't work I didn't one year I decided I was going to pass the postal examination and you know that civil service exam and I passed it and they called me to work during the Christmas holidays and I worked shall I say impossible for about two weeks you know slanging those big heavy mail sacks full of packages and I stuck that thing out for two weeks and the money was good but I said my god people have to do this and the next year they called me at the first of the month and was encouraging me said you know we're gonna keep a few people on you maybe one of them I stayed my two week limit not quit but I found out something that's when you were not brought up having to do it for yourself parents giving you everything that you want you can very easily take for granted what the world is all about this young man he was ignorant you see everything he wanted was right there at his disposal he didn't even know he had no real knowledge of what his father had to do in order to make a good living available to him sometimes people are like that even when it comes to our church we could be in a place where all of our spiritual needs are being met where the Lord is saving and healing and filling with the Holy Ghost and teaching people how to be blessed materially but if it does not happen in a spectacular or sensational manner we feel like something is missing and consequently this young man felt like well home is alright but it's got to be something more than this and the father divided under his two sons his living and this boy decided I'm going out and the Bible says he went well into a far country now people you don't have to get on an ocean-going vessel and cross the Atlantic or the Pacific in order to be in a far country you can really just be across the street but if you are child of God in the devil's work involved in Satan's feel where he governs and control you are in a far country you may be at home right here in this church and you may go three blocks from here to the bar and start trying to live it up the way the world practices but when you get in that bar you haven't even left Memphis Tennessee but you are in a far country this young man left and he went into a far country and what did he take with him he took the portion of his father's goods that the father had given to him now let me tell you something people all of the goods did not belong to the boy neither the older nava younger they were the father's Goods I want you to get that took somebody and tell them neighbor all of the goods belongs to our Father James verifies this you can look later don't read it now but in the book of James the first chapter verse 16 and 17 James says do not err my beloved brethren every good gift and every perfect gift is from above coming down from the Father of lights in whom there no variableness nor shadow of turning anything that is really good I mean good and really good it came from God God is the giver of every good gift what I'll get gifts we've got food we've got our help we've got our strength we've got our homes we have our jobs all of the material things that are central to our livelihood it comes from nobody but God and anybody who does not take the time out to thank the Heavenly Father for the good you enjoy you are like a foolish child a foolish son or a foolish daughter there is no good that can come into your life that does not come from God whatever the good is in your life that you enjoy recognize that it comes from the Lord Amen somebody and if you recognize that it comes from God recognize also that we have an obligation to thank God for the good we enjoy hallelujah that hell it's not because you job so many miles every day your health is not really because of how much food you buy down at the health food center your health is not because necessarily that you keep up with your regular check-ups and that you don't eat at night because there are a whole lot of folks that don't eat at night and they still got ulcers and some of us are some of the most blessed folks who ever want to see we shout and praise God to the eleven o'clock at night and then eat turnip greens and ham hocks and go to bed and sleep like I don't know what and here's the rich person we work for hello somebody got all kind of money can buy anything you want to buy and almost have to eat baby food so your health whatever gift you have it's not yours it's what the father has bestowed upon us and when you've got that talent maybe you can play skillfully upon the instrument like our musicians do maybe you have a beautiful voice and you're able to sing but whenever you fail to use that gift or use that talent in the presence of God you prefer to go into what is called secular territorial singing for the devil's folk and it just makes me sick spiritually when I see people getting on programs and testifying about being born-again Christians and have the gift of the Spirit and then the next time you see them they own some kind of a secular show singing songs that do not edify price in any way whenever you sing the songs of Zion you ought to be singing in the presence of the people of God or you ought to be singing to make somebody lift up God you cannot extol the virtues of this dying and sin cursed world in a nightclub somewhere in Las Vegas and then flying to the church on Sunday and talk about all how I love Jesus you may have the father's good but you're wasting it in a far country hallelujah this young man went out ignorant of the fact that he was in the best place that he could be now somebody said well maybe the young man was a young man brought up in sanctified Church and something in him wanted to dance and he wanted to leave the church so he could dance well from my understanding they must have danced in his father's house cause when he finally came back there was a banquet and the Bible tells me that the elder brother when he drew near he heard music and dancing this young man could not anything you wanted to do in a righteous way right in his father's house you got energy of a young person and you serve it to churches to stiffs not my father's Church because the church that my Heavenly Father endorses he that mine you praising him with string instruments with loud sounding cymbals he don't mind you praising him with timbrel and dance so the boy didn't have to leave home in order to let himself be free emotionally for heat that praise the farmer with everything that was in it but he left his father's house went on out into a far country he took the goods that were his father's out into that far country and the Bible said he wasted his substance wasted it would rot just living you don't hear what I'm saying now notice while he was in the far country and he joined himself to a citizen of that country that the only thing the far country did for him was to strip him it took everything that he had but it didn't give anything in return oh I don't think you heard that sin has it's pleasure but it's one way it's designed to take it'll take your strength it'll take your mental alertness it'll take your beauty it'll take your talent it'll take your money it'll take your reputation it'll take your health it'll take everything you got but it won't give anything in return but finally and I'm almost through now when the young man realized what had happened and he found himself in the Hall pen [Applause] hungry and looking at the Halsey and decided I'm so hungry that I'm in well get down here to eat the Hogs food and any time the devil try to make you think that a child of God will be satisfied Oh swine food you can imagine what he's done to your man because swine food is for swine it's not designed for child of the king and finally the man said well he came to himself he thought about home he said my father he's got hot servants and they got bread enough to spam and Here I am his son and I'm perishing with Homa so I tell you what I'm gonna do and I'm not to be called a son but I just want you to make me make me over and I'll be satisfied maybe you've gone into a far country you are back into the habits of the world you're back in the dope you're in the liquor you're back in the prostitution you are back in the profanity you're back in the throwing your money away you need to come to yourself and say I'm going home well where is home home is where my father is I'm going back to Jesus and I'm gonna tell him I want you to forgive me you know I've done wrong but you still didn't cut me off you yet recognized me as your child I'm coming home forgive me I'm coming home give me back my joy give me back my gift my talented give me back my life but I want to tell you everything you need it's at home you don't need to waste your time in the far country of seeing you don't have to go out into the world trying to find another way whatever you need you can find it at home well where is home what Gina feels whoa how the new you sit down y'all what a wonder about Jesus thank you Lord thank you lord thank you lord thank you long I want to leave this with you think of Jesus many times home home it's where Jesus is hole is having that relationship with the father but in that connection you must recognize I preached it so many times are you there that God has a place which he have designed for you for me for everybody and the days when the prophet Elijah shut up the heavens that there would be no rain for three years and six months the Lord spoke to him and said to him in essence you said it wasn't gonna rain no dudes gonna drop on the ground now that same thing applies to you unless you go to the place where I will give you water and he said go down to the brook teareth and dwell there stay there you can drink the water out of the brook and twice a day I'm going to send a raven with bread and flesh don't worry about it he'll be there and he'll feed you y'all don't hear what I'm saying he didn't say Elijah you're my man go anywhere you wanna do anything you please I'll catch up with you and give you what you need God said no no no I've got a bath for you I've got a place where our feature I've got a place way out water you [Music] Alijah could have got mad if he wanted to and said well understand this I'm property I'm a mighty prophet he's sending me no food by bus it I'm gonna go somewhere else you know what he would have done as great a prophet as he was either starve to death [Music] and all God promised him was bread and flesh when other folk was starving that their bread and flesh kept the Prophet alive he could have said I'm sick of this sandwich everyday I want some greens I want some beans hello but he had to stay where God put him y'all don't hear what I'm saying [Music] God have a plan for our lives and when God save you seal you with the Holy Ghost heal your body open up doors of deliverance for you and set you down of a place and said this is your van you can let the devil trick you and move you out if you want to but one day you might find yourself in the hog pen and you need to shake yourself and say I'm going home I'm going where God planted me [Music] y'all don't hear what I'm saying today somebody hasn't left the enemy just psychologically and mentally see the young man he didn't just leave the day that he asked his father for his goods and packed up left he was already gone in his mind home had become a place that didn't satisfy him coz had it not happened he never would have asked his mind had already gone to the street you have to watch that devil little incidents will happen in your life and you know what the enemy will whisper to you and say what in the world has happened to you don't you remember five years ago for you got saved you wouldn't it took that no I sure wouldn't and I think I'm gonna have to let him know when the enemy starts taking your mind back into the kind of person you were when you were in sin you may yet become in the church but honey you're not bad your mind is already in the far country but God wants you to not only bring your body home he wants you to bring your mind home and realize that when that enemy had me he didn't do nothing for me then he didn't do nothing but ripping it in and he's don't love me no more now than he did then somebody hearing my boss right now the message was to you and you know it was to you I don't know why God put me on this kind of message today hallelujah but he did why have gone out from me and it will not return unto me void somebody in here today you have left the Lord you have left the Fowler's ship that you once had in Jesus Christ glory to God glory to God and the Lord wants you to come home this morning he may be bringing you back into membership at this church all your membership may be somewhere else but God wants you to come up today and reinstate your fellowship and if there's somewhere else that he's planted you for membership go on back but you need to get back to the Heavenly Father today I want you to get up and come right now the Lord has spoken to your heart and you know who you are god bless your heart that's right step into the aisle and come right now Cory to Jesus look at God look at God today hallelujah come on come on come on come on in the name of Jesus [Music] Oh Halloween come on come on in the name of Jesus [Music] you better get up every one of you that the Lord spoken to and you know who you are you've lost your love for heavenly things come on then over fifteen of you come on get up get up get up and come now you don't have to join this church but you need to come back to your fellowship with Jesus yeah [Music] the Holy Ghost is not going to accept you know for an answer today the Lord is speaking to you and he is commanding you get up and make your way right you tried to vote somebody else for you leaving home if you're not where you ought to be in Gaudin ain't nobody's fault but yours where the other five [Music] the Lord speaking to you there before you to praise Him there are three more Souls here that the Lord is reaching for today he just wants you to praise and while these three break loose hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah that's glory to Jesus come only crazy come on in please [Music] the Bible says there's more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner that repenteth than over ninety nine just persons who need no repentance we've got about 20 Souls up here and we ought to have something to praise in fun come on it praises while that on the soul come on but no he's yet speaking than that other one I know you hear God knows
