Bibles with me to the book of the prophet Isaiah chapter 9 last Sunday we spoke about the first messianic prophecy which came from the lips of the Heavenly Father himself in the book of Genesis when he said that the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent but that the serpent would bruise his heel today I want to look at another one of the messianic prophecies and this particular one comes out of the book of the prophet Isaiah chapter 9 and if you have that same man shall we read together the first seven verses let's read nevertheless the dimness will not be such as was in her vexation when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali and after it did more grievously afflicted by the way of the sea beyond Jordan in Galilee of the nations the people that walked in darkness have seen a great light they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death upon them have to light shine thou hath multiplied the nation and not increased the joy they joy before the according to the joy in harvest and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil for thou has broken the yoke of his burden and the staff of and the rod of his oppressor as in the day of Midian for every battle of the warrior is with confused noise and garments rolled in blood but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire for unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called wonderful counsellor the mighty God the everlasting father the Prince of Peace of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this now we want to praise God for the reading of his word seven verses from Isaiah chapter 9 we would refer your attention back to verse 6 for unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called and then after saying what his name shall be called we get a list of names one is simply the name wonderful then we get the name counselor then we get the mighty God the everlasting father and finally the Prince of Peace but what is outstanding here it says that his name shall be called look at somebody and just tell him call his name there is power in his name but that power is not appropriated into your life or mine unless we will call his name call unto me in the day of trouble and I will show you mighty things which thou knewest not we have the answer and all we have to do is open our mouth what is in the name it all depends on what the name is we live in a society of where we understand that certain names will unlock doors the Lord said to Abram when he called him out of ur of the chaldeans in the end of chapter 11 of Genesis and the beginning of chapter 12 among those seven things that God said to Abram that he would do yes he said that he would make him off him a mighty nation and in him with all nations of earth be blessed yes he did say that I will bless you and I'll make you a blessing he did say I'll bless those that bless you and curse him that curseth but in the midst of everything else that God promised Abraham that he would do he said to him I will make your name great and there's something about it God has a way of even making some names great that while you call one name and people pay you no attention you can call another name and they'll stop whatever they are doing because that name has power in a particular circle well what we have to recognize is that as we live upon this earth we are human creatures we live in the body of flesh but sometimes we put too much emphasis on that which you see that which you see the body is not important it is really the spirit man that dwells inside of the body when you're trying to get someone to do something you are looking at their body but it's their mind you're trying to change it is that invisible that intangible part that you want to get to in order to make the body act right and all of us as human creatures we are susceptible to to great spiritual powers either it is the power of God the power of good from above or it is the power of evil from beneath and when you are having trouble with the power of evil from beneath whether you call him Satan the devil the evil spirit I don't care what you call him there is one name that will make him behave the only name that you can call that will cause demons to tremble the only name that you can call that will make even Satan the chief evil spirit back up stand back and take notice hallelujah you can call your name all you want to you can call my name and nothing happens you can even call the name of some who have called themselves saviors of such yeah you may call the name of Buddha and you may call the name of Muhammad and you may call the name of Zoroaster you may call the name of Confucius hallelujah I don't care how many names you call you go back and get the Egyptian gods and call their name but there is no name that will make he'll take notice unless you call the name of Jesus here in the book of Isaiah the prophet who has been called the prophet of the Eagles I of the eagle eyed prophet because he was able to look beyond some 700 years into the future and see that which had not come to pass and he wrote about it as though it had already taken place I believe that even the devotional scripture that was read this morning came from Isaiah chapter 53 where it talks about his sufferings as though they had already happened surely he hath borne our griefs at this time Jesus was not even born in Bethlehem but the Prophet said he had borne our griefs carried our sorrows yet we did esteem him stricken smitten of God and afflicted and before he was born in Bethlehem Isaiah said but he was wounded for our transgressions bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with His stripes we are healed well students of Isaiah will say that you have won a particular writer that is in the 53rd chapter and another that is in the ninth chapter that first Isaiah and second Isaiah is somewhat divided like the old end of the New Testament with the 37 or rather the 39 books and the 27 one being written by one prophet one being written by another but regardless of whether you take Isaiah as a book written by one all bye - you will understand that the focus is on the coming Messiah here the beginning of chapter 9 talks about where the Lord would really set up his headquarters of ministry it is true that when the wise men came from the east following the star that they were looking and they felt that when they got to Palestine that the place to go was to Jerusalem the capital city that there if anybody would know where he is that his born King of the Jews certainly it would be the king in Israel so they went to Herod wanting to know where is he that is born King of the Jews we've seen his star in the east and we've come to worship Him and when he ended up there in Jerusalem and Herod decided well this is not a political question let me call in those who are familiar with the law so they called in those scribes and students of the law wanting to know where is the birth of the Messiah to take place and they searched the scripture and found out that over there in the book of the minor prophet Micah around chapter 5 and verse 2 it talks about Bethlehem Ephrata that this is the place that though you be small you may be a little City but you're really great because here is the place where the one that shall be the ruler of Israel shall come from a lot of times when people read the miscellaneous prophecies in the Old Testament they get confused and they think that the scripture is conflicting there are those that want to always push the color of Jesus you know that he had to be black and that this Jesus that was born in Bethlehem could not be the Messiah because somewhere in the book of Zachariah it says out of Egypt have I called my son but the prophecies only focus on various stages of the Lord's life Micah tells us where he would be born but then Zachariah talking about out of Egypt have I called my son was not talking about his birthplace but was talking about what happened when Herod recognized that the wise men had mocked him and when they went back home to their own country another way God spoke to Joseph in a dream and told him that I'll tell you what you better get out of time not only get out of town but get out of any of the political reach influence of Harrah go down into Egypt and stay there shortly after Joseph Godward took Miriam the child in the Egypt then the slaughter began every male child under 2 years old their investor him was killed because Herod was trying to find the Messiah but God that had protected him down in Egypt and when he said out of Egypt have I call my son had nothing to do with his birthplace but had to do with a place of shelter while the slaughter was going on a lot of time in our life God will allow us to be in a place not the place where the work that he has called us to do will be done but he'll give us a place to hide until the storm is over oh I don't know if any of you've ever had that before but there are some places that God send you on this far a season on this fall a period of time not to stay there but the only dwell there Tabernacle - temporarily until the storm is over when the storm is over he'll porch somewhere else you don't believe it you better ask Moses at the beginning of the book of Deuteronomy when he had taken the children of Israel from Egypt back to the land of Midian where he dwelt with Jethro his father-in-law back to the holy mountain of God there they went back to the mount that is called Sinai and also called Horeb but he says there in the first chapter of Deuteronomy that the Lord our God speaking to us in the mountains hand you dwelt here at this mount long enough it was the place where they got to love but that's ultimate destination was not for real the ultimate destination was the land of Canaan I want you to know sometimes God gives you stopover points hallelujah and it doesn't mean you made a mistake why you act the stopover point it just simply meant that God lets you be there for a while but he had something else laid out for you if you don't believe that you better ask it larger and he walked in before he happened said as I live said God they'll not be dual-range salt into the ground but according to my word it's an invisible key and locks up the heaven and the angel of God spoke to him and said go down to the brook teareth and dwell there I've commanded the Ravens to feed you that I'm gonna send them it every morning and every evening for the sandwich in his mouth and you can drink water out of the brook but it came to pass that the brook dried up and where the brook dried up God said now go to Zarephath hallelujah you can look back in your life and the full God brought you in the hole in it he gave you a stopover point you didn't make a mistake but you will make a mistake when you take the stopover point as a final destination let me back up here the various prophecies born in Bethlehem sit for a while in the Egypt but when he will establish his ministerial headquarters that would be in Colonia so the beginning of chapter 9 when it talks about the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali talking about beyond Jordan the coastal area Isaiah was talking about the place that asked her he shall have been born in Bethlehem after he shall have gone down into Egypt after he shall have been raised and Navarrete as a Nazarene finally after the baptism of John he would find a place that would be his ministerial headquarters and that was a city by the name of Catania which was a part of that tract of land allocated to Zebulun and Naphtali down by the Sea coast and then Isaiah uses another theme he says the people that walked in darkness have seen a great light everything about Jesus talks about light yeah later on second Isaiah 59 and 9 he looked at the condition and said therefore its judgment far from us neither have justice overtaken us we wait for light but behold obscurity for brightness but we walk in darkness the world without Jesus was in darkness waiting for the coming light but when Jesus came into the world Isaiah 60 and one says arise and shine for your light has come and the glory of God has risen upon you listen when you a sinner you end darkness you can't help but go in darkness darkness is only inside and if darkness is in your heart then every deed you do is expected to be done dark because you do not have the light of God's Word as the light to lead you on your pathway dog men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil when you in sin you are in darkness but when Jesus comes that's when the light is turned on listen at what John says in Chapter one in the beginning was the word and the Word was with God and the Word was God the same was in the beginning with God all things were made by him and without him was not anything made that was made in him was ill I ask you what does that spell life's and the LIF e was the Li gh T of men look at somebody and say his life is our life hey if you really want to know how to live a lighted life Alliance in the sunlight you got to have Jesus yeah his life is our light I can't say that about Muhammad when I read up on Muhammad's LIF he there is not much Li gh T but when I read up on Jesus I don't see anything but lights and listen at what John says he said and the light shine it in the darkness and the darkness comprehended it not but when you get through studying that text and get through looking at it in its original looking at it in the Greek it is translated comprehended but some writers say it should be apprehended in other words the light kept shining darkness was everywhere but even though the darkness was everywhere the light kept on shining and once the illusion puts it this way the light shining in the darkness because the darkness couldn't put it out hallelujah I want you to know when you've got Jesus darkness is all around people own your job trying to make you deny Jesus trying to make you act like they do committing that dog DS which water look at somebody said neighbor let your light shine cap no seal because the darkness can't put it out [Applause] [Music] thank you the people that dwelled in dogs have seen a great light he not just the light but a great light and they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death upon them have the light shine I want you to know that it doesn't matter how deep in the you mess you up the deeper you are in the hail of sin degradation and despair the brighter the light is shining in your direction I hear him said leave the darkness to the lights [Applause] [Applause] darling give me praise somebody you don't know what's going on it huh she's remembering the days of darkness now that the light is shine [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] the Holy Ghost in hit Lots turning on the light and somebody's life let me move it for under us a child is born unto us a son is given he's a child born but more than that he's a son given but look at what God said about his son the government the government shall rest on his shoulder what government do you mean the government of Israel yeah but the government of the US yeah the government of russia yeah the government of china yeah because when john saw him out on the isle of patmos he said on his head were many crowns and i looked on him looked on his thigh and I saw Ricky the name king of cheese and the government will be on his shoulder but then it said calling name first of all called him wonderful you know we mess around with that word every saying is wonderful I had a wonderful time last night you just a wonderful person oh honey it's a beautiful day then wonderful and we put that name on everything but I hear the prophets that Waits give that name its rightful place his name shall be called wonderful when I think of what he's done for me it's amazing it's precious its glorious it's wonderful I was on my way to a devil's hell I wasn't sit to live [Music] I hurt the boys up Jesus and come unto me and rest locked down by weary one lie down my head upon my breath Jesus just like I was sad he's made me that's wonderful wonderful geez [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] but not on this it is named wonderful yeah every once in a while even though I'm safe sanctified filled with the Holy Ghost sometimes my mind gets consumed sometimes I'm at the crossroad of life and don't know which way to go I can sit down and talk to counselor and another turn for counselor is attorney when I get in trouble in this mess much as I try to take it myself hi I need a counselor [Applause] [Music] look at somebody's head when you get in trouble called his name [Applause] there another name his name is the mighty God away with these weak gods you know some so got a god that have made them any better they join the church but they still doing the same thing because their God tell them it's all right all you needed to do is just get a preacher your hand give me your heart and don't worry about the body but when I need a god that can take the taste of liquor and tobacco out of the mouth what I need a god that'll take the needle out of the arm what I need that'll make men who are confused in their mind taking they'll see male trapped in a male body female thinking she's a male trapped in a female body I serve a powerful enough the straighten out the mine snaps me out of the pit put my seat on a solid rock I take da [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] and I don't have to worry about him changing on me as the years prolong what he was yesterday he is a day and what he is today he shall not cease to be on tomorrow Hebrews 13 and eight said Jesus Christ the same yesterday today and forever before the mountains were salt heels before the Sun was sheep he is let's slow that what my heaven to dwell in a fool that was a chair of be my Seraphine it's so that we in a while [Applause] [Music] [Applause] can I hear your set Prince of Peace I know that the United Nations is there in New York periodically have peace conferences in Geneva Switzerland well that will never be any peace until the press [Applause] [Music] [Applause] a piece of him but when he's proud trouble can be everywhere trouble can be all around that you I am the eye of the storm he gives you peace in the storm [Applause] but you got these trees [Applause] [Music] it's what I give unto you peace [Music] [Applause] Wow shall tall in me if you don't remember to call him counselor if you don't remember to call him mighty car if you don't remember to call him everlasting father if you don't remember to call him Prince of Peace Matthew says she'll bring forth a son and you'll just call him Jesus in your life [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] thank you Jesus [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I'm gonna stop I had a couple of examples but I think I'll stop [Applause] does anybody in here remember blind man by the name of Bach to me sitting on the highway couldn't see a thing but he heard the noise of a crowd and he asked somebody what's going on heard him said Jesus it's passing this way and even though he couldn't see he was blind as a bat but I've heard him said son David have mercy on me and he kept calling to Jesus it bring him here [Music] [Applause] look at somebody said neighbor did you know you could call it until he command his angels to bring you to them [Applause] [Applause] [Music] but I was just a little boy growing up you didn't sit in two minutes services before somebody will break out saying if you call Jesus [Applause] [Music] I mean when you got in trouble [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
