Beating BotW using ONLY Drillshafts ~ 150k sub special!

so i kind of have a confession to make i've never actually beaten breath of the wild the fast way before you know just charging hyrule castle before the divine beast i mean despite the numerous playthroughs i've put into this game i've always done this standard full main story route first so not only have i never experienced the harder ending of the game with the four sanctum blights and the beefier ganon i've never actually seen full gameplay of this either talk about being late to the party so why not fix this and try it all out for once how would i beat this run using only my favorite weapon in the entire game and nothing else which is the op drill shaft this has been quite overdue but it'll be a perfectly tuned challenge to celebrate our 150k milestone on youtube memeiness of the weapon aside it's actually a pretty versatile tool to use in hyrule with its many shattering abilities but for lots of general combat including the daunting fights ahead comparing how low this weapon's damage is against the really tanky and cruel bosses we must face leaves us with two big questions one do we have the combat prowess needed to complete this difficult challenge and 2 is it even possible in technicality to pull this one off you see each of the blights in the game when fought at the sanctum have 2 000 health while calamity ganon has 8 000. totaling to 16 000 total points of damage we need to head through with just drill shafts since our shafts will break into fights we can measure the total damage output utility of this weapon by multiplying its durability with its attack power so in this case 50 durability times 14 damage equals 700. but if we factor in the last hit being critical and dealing double damage the total output really becomes 714 per drill shaft and if we calculate this against the total health of the bosses we need to head through 23 drill shafts are required to have enough durability to kill through all five of them well that is if you can hold that many shafts in the first place but not to worry with a level 3 attack buff dealing 50 more damage which the phantom armor does just fine for the drill shafts all get buffed to 21 damage ahead and the total damage output per shaft increases to 1071 meaning that mathematically it'll take just 15 drill shafts to defeat all the blights but realistically it'll be best to have just one more as all the finishing hits and halfway ones don't always deal the 21 damage meaning that you lose value on the durability and sometimes other services may be smacked too which will chew them up but beyond knowing this there's only going to be two minor exceptions to the fights to make them passable one the start of fireblight second phase requires one bomb blast to get him out of a shell and two the start of thunderblade second phase requires magnesis to reflect hit the lightning back at him there is no other way to move past these parts beyond this as these methods are mandatory so these will be the only times we use something besides the drill shaft to deal damage which it's very minor damage anyways so it really shouldn't have an impact but having worked out that we need 16 drill shafts in order to clear this the first major objective before we even get to the fighting is actually obtaining all this equipment but how exactly do you get 16 drill shafts right after clearing the plateau well if we look at a map there are only eight unique locations where you can even find the drill shaft since almost all these are chest loots and one of these is tied to a one spawning moblin during the rodania questline basically none of these guys are responsible via blood moon that is mine is the one and only drill shaft in the world that can found in elden by goron city inside the holy drill shaft cave is the only renewable drill shaft you can obtain in hyrule we pay tribute to it time and time again throughout all the runs serving as the grand shrine for this challenge ahead but yeah we're not actually going to be needing this one though surprisingly a blue moon takes just about 3 hours of active playtime to reappear so to get the 16 drill shafts this way that's like a lot of hours just spent waiting but luckily there is a very specific tactic we can take advantage of for the non-respondable drill shafts and chests that'll allow us to stock up a lot faster and will still grant us enough if we're talking mechanically here whenever you open up a chest in the game a special take that all chests have called revival none tells the chest to not reappear ever again when you come back to the area hence why you can never refine the chest you had already opened once before but since this tag happens to be tied to the region itself if you manage to drag a chest far away from the region specifically skipping one full tile map section away from its original placement the chest connection to the tag actually gets severed as the previous area of the map is unloaded meaning that you can open this chest far away from the item and then still come back to its original location and it's still there as if it was never opened so you get my drift on what we're doing now it's a pretty neat trick that can be done again and again and this is a lot faster than waiting three hours for a new one to respawn but it still is about a good 10 minute make this is hike for the chest we picked to do this over and over with and even then with low health in a dangerous world it still has its frustrating downsides we're talking technically no oh no we should not have done that night oh my god but this is how we got the majority of our drill shafts along with a few other chest ones we just straight up grab normally for convenience and well the only other trouble for doing this was having to expand our inventory to get 16 drill shafts as you only start out with eight and for the extra eight has two slots you need a total of 73 seeds which first meant having to shaft all those blooper goblins for the stamp maracas again only a slight setback in precious drill shaft durability but getting those seeds was actually a bit of a breeze thanks to one handy exploit that takes place on top of robbie's tech lab there's one of those glory corks right on top but if you manage to back away from it and press the interact button frame perfect as soon as it frames from view you are able to get this corox scene without the quark actually counting as found meaning you can do this time and time again for infinite seeds which is something i would never do or recommend for normal playthrough but after getting this hard technique down it was worth it for this at least but after all this effort getting all of our drill shafts the slots required for them and also nabbing our necessary attack boosting armor and a few snacks for the road we are finally able to charge hyrule castle and face the most daunting challenge ahead i'm going into all these encounters here blind apart from knowing just how their divine beast counterparts work so this is both exciting and terrifying for me at the same time but i know that with the mighty luck of the drill shaft anything in the world is possible and please do enjoy sanctum oh boy oh no oh they disappear right away no special cutscene just death so we're gonna start with our slightly damaged one oh okay we get some good hits okay it's quick picks a couple hits and run and run using the same attack over and over again got a couple hits it's okay it was worth it it was worth it okay oh first drill shaft almost dead there we go broke critical hit okay almost halfway but that was already damaged because of the problem so oh new attack nope same old tornado and then charge it up wait there we go love knight some speak of the fight awesome we got him halfway oh that was good he's gonna start getting hasty now though i just know it come on just keep getting hit i don't know what else to do oh boy okay there we go oh we got him down all these things are doing funny stuff right now and that one just blew up come on get some nice volleys in oh it's oh a lot of tornadoes okay bit windy in here now okay it's a lot easier than the divine beast variant so oh that's a tornado okay more uh running out of that food we're fine though broken that was the second one look look we have plenty but still come on last hit yes okay first boss down oh just instantly appears to the next okay water blight yep okay flurry time okay we get some nice taste with flurries though good yeah look at that nice barrage you don't match the power of the drill shaft oh that's a slam down oh whoa okay i wasn't expecting it to expand that much stabbing one by one a bit okay i don't care if you don't get the flurries we're getting something oh okay he got a little something on me too it's a slam down oh there we go awesome it's mainly the big ganon i'm worried about but this is going good he's up high yeah there's no water to rise in this so oh but he's very high up uh stabbed him in the i know i don't see that working the way i wanted to how are we gonna do this part okay go up like that break them all get up here all the stairs yes okay stairs are helpful so many levels to this oh he don't even tell me you're teleporting away you're by the ground though okay good i think my spear can reach that no get lower get low okay good just barely hitting him the way we wanted to run oh he's doing something extra funny uh no no no no no bye yep there we go eye shots get some good ones in please okay okay a couple more badly damaged we're good we're doing so good jewel shot broke on that one a couple more we got this yes okay one of white's done okay we did another that was good that was pretty good but wow fire blight we're saving the hardest for last okay no fire yet so just pinch him down a bit [Music] okay yes the flurry get some extra ones nice wreck throw him seem like he's getting ready there we go oh man it's hard to predict sometimes there we go okay this is one of two parts where we can use something but a drill shaft because we have to so right there it's only for a little damage anyways but still [Music] good damage come on keep going yeah okay yeah nice nice okay okay not fire no fire that's fire oh my god that damage no and this too this is really hell okay stunned a bit come on almost done drill shaft damage yes oh my god the final hit oh that was good no this is this is where it's not going to be fun no not thunderblade no no no no no okay oh boy oh boy oh we don't have a shield okay good the first hole is nice personal is really nice oh no we're just chipping it away anything we can though can't waste any hits on the shield either oh yep okay that was a wasted head oh that was uh we sit down to me okay oh boy this is hell mode okay never mind maybe a slightly better health just this time yeah the third hits thank you for attacking extra couple more he's close to the halfway at least this will do it i think oh yes oh no this is the lightning part though no okay this part we gotta do first try yeah okay some good extra damage at least okay drill shaft broke oh no oh my god we didn't get zapped though somehow i don't know how we're doing this the jewel shaft's making us open oh no not the drill shaft okay okay defense party okay yes holy crap the drill shaft spring has such good luck no fairies used at all and he's almost gone holy crap this is the best thunderblade fight in a while leap of faith good one more good failure in his end and we're i think good maybe please let this be at i think we're so close yes we got thunderblades we absolutely destroyed them holy crap drill shaft is so open oh my god we're literally at cannon now we did it we have so much stuff left but again it's not gonna be easy oh no slightly confident just slight confidence okay he's got everything he's got an army of drool shafts oh yeah the flurries got to keep going in with them that's some good damage okay oh not slime down not slam down okay that's slammed down we're dumb enough to fool by yeah shutting them back a bit oh wow okay that was all practiced before and this is making it way easier when he's on the wall i think he's gotta wait honestly oh i didn't even know he did that attack oh my holy crap you're just lightnings everything i didn't know you did that attack i did not even know we weren't really prepared were we no we weren't prepared we weren't prepared at all no we just gotta run when that lightning one happens we just gotta sprint and book it half our ferry just because the lightning attack no okay okay okay okay this one's bad this one is very much so bad oh my god okay well gotta go with the fence there's only three left okay he's gonna slam down oh okay get some extras oh wow it's so close look at that trickle damage though it's just not enough most times oh and the spear one that was calculated uh-huh there's only a chance a few chances to get him while he's down here though okay that one burns up a little bit but that's okay halfway past the end nope not the electric one oh no no he doesn't give up yeah there's no way we're gonna reflect those back at him that's just impossible oh my god oh no okay just clean slice right to my everything oh we didn't get a flurry no oh we got a flare that time though okay get past the a i'll tell him marky and just buy the letters in his name i mean two more good oh okay drew come out that was good that time [Music] run no okay doesn't do the war surprisingly oh that does though that does that does the worst modern damage possible oh we got it that time he's so close halfway wait what we got booted out of it no again it can't be that powerful okay good i think i'll be just enough to take him over the edge please no oh slam down i did not prepare for slam down no oh no oh no no no no no no no no no holy crap i don't know if he gets halfway honestly i didn't even think of that because i never played this before does he he does get halfway okay oh that's for half the battle now instead of a quarter oh you got to be kidding me i didn't know it was like that okay good we dodged that one finally now we can go in there get him only flurries counts the only way we can get them nope just keep running okay we actually dodged that somehow just barely oh please don't go on the wall okay good see which one actually is doing it oh the fires wait what just happened please do the ones i can counter that was too close no he just did a bunch of lasers and went back up oh just to the side do come out directionalized we're so low on stuff one fairy okay good yeah we gotta focus off that's about the only way we're doing this is we're kind of getting it we're doing so much better for us for the stupid fire being everywhere okay god this is this is good that's a consistent one a few consistent ones right in the way it's dodge hour right now [Music] oh wow just barely oh run please please run please get down from there climbing again no no no no no no no no no no there's no way he did that holy crap he just speared us away we have literally no more fairies okay he's about this much dual shot for the health left please do an attack i can actually counter no we did that before not do a spear i'm not dying to a spear if i died not to the damn spear okay yes okay oh one hit okay good we're getting the timing okay wow so many consistent floors in a row don't jinx this sam keep doing that we'll have enough time to get through everything we need to get through
