hey everybody it's Leary from lero gaming and today we've got another Butler's Gate 3 guide and today I'm going to be focusing on the final subclass for the Warlock the arcfay subclass now in this video I'm gonna give you all the basics you need to know about the Warlock we're going to also talk about stats at level one and then we're gonna do a full level 2 to 12 breakdown level by level I'll also show you all the Spells available as you level up later on I'll give you some general equipment recommendations and finally I'll talk about my thoughts about multi-classing with the Warlock you can use the timestamps below to jump to any area that most interests you now without further Ado let's go ahead and take a look at the arcfei subclass for the Warlock in Ballers gate 3. thank you okay so for beginners it's important to note that the Warlock class has a primary ability of Charisma that's being used for its spell casting they have saving throw proficiencies of both wisdom and Charisma and they have a hit die of 1d8 hit points they do start Baseline of proficiency of simple weapons and with light armor now unlike the Sorcerer And wizard for example it's important to note that they have far fewer spells that they can cast at any given time so at level one they're going to start with the first warlock spell slot and then they're gonna get a second one level two and then they won't get their third one until Level 11. so what that means is at even at max level Baseline without any other features they're only going to be able to cast a maximum of three spells however these do refresh every short rest instead of long rest and also this will always be max level meaning that level 11 you're going to be able to cast three level five spells either up casting lower level spells to make it more powerful or of course picking up to five level five bass spells so it's a little different or a lot different than Sorcerer And wizard but it's very nice where you can refresh them numerous times much more quickly now right at level one you're gonna get to pick two can trips the first one is most likely you want to be eldrick blast this is the unique Warlock cantrip it is a direct damage spell and you're gonna have various ways of making it more powerful as you level up also as you level up it will automatically instead of increasing how many dice of damage it does it will increase how many bolts of electric blast that you shoot out starting at one and then there's going to be two and eventually three bolts and you can Target one enemy with them or multiple enemies when you cast now I will go ahead and mouse over the other options for cam trips for you as well friends is a great one you can if you have this kind of memorized you don't even have to actively cast it if you are in a speech interaction and you have to make a dice roll a lot of times deals will be able to activate kind of like how guidance does in order to give you advantage on Prisma checks made chant is also very popular to be able to interact with the world with an invisible hand now you do get to pick the subclass at level one for the Warlock and the arc fee you do get access to two spells a level one that are unique and so you're gonna have fairy fire and then sleep which isn't necessarily a unique spell but you do get it at level one unlike the other subclasses and their special feature level one is the action fave presence and basically charm or frightened nearby at foes with the Fate while it's beguiling disturbing Magics and you get to pick whichever you want to apply so here's charm and here's frighten both quite effective it is close range denote you have to be within three meters and it's wisdom saving throw for that and then on top of that you're gonna be able to again pick up to two spells you can choose the ones that are unique to the subclass or you can pick any of the other ones as you list here again feel free to pause the video if you want to look at more details a special note is hex this is unique to the Warlock this is a bonus action castable spell you basically when you apply it any damage you do to the Target you're going to do an extra one to six necrotic damage and also you're going to give the target a disadvantage to any ability of your choosing so when you go to cast the spell there's gonna be six different versions you have to pick from one for each stat like Constitution dexterity Etc and very importantly is once you apply it as long as you maintain concentration if the target dies before the spell ends and do note the spell naturally only ends when you long rest or if you lose concentration one way or another well as long as it hasn't been ended in that way you can actually reapply it as a bonus action without having to use another spell slot so you can just move it from enemy to enemy to enemy As you move on very very useful and here are the remaining ones sleep is also quite effective now when it comes to Ability points at level one how are you going to set this up is going to depend what kind of armor you're going to plan on wiring if you have a baseline warlock that doesn't get any additional armor proficiencies at level one meaning they only have light armor then this is my recommendation of 14 or 8 strength 14 dexterity 15 Constitution 10 intelligence 12 wisdom 16 charisma if you never plan to get anything better than line Army you could even drop wisdom by two and pop Dexter to 15 to bump this to 16 at a higher level but if you for example use will will is gonna have a shield or if you pick a gif Yankee race you may get access to medium armor if you do have medium armor then 14 is the max the exterior you're gonna get and then if let's say you multi-class with uh for example either Ranger or Paladin or fighter you may you'll get access to Heavy Armor in that case you would drop your dexterity 14 or sorry to 10 and distribute those points between Constitution wisdom and potentially get your charisma to 17. the idea of wisdom being higher for this class is just for the wisdom saving throws so depending on your armor adjust your base stats as necessary not level two you're gonna get your second warlock spell slot so right off the bat you're gonna have two spells you can uh cast between each short rest this will not increase to three until Level 11. you also get an additional spell as you did a level one so it's the same list of level one spells but the new addition are the Elder convocations these are a big deal for warlocks you're gonna get to pick two of these the first one the most popular one is agonizing blast this one makes it so you with your Elder blast you add your charisma modifier to damage the deals so this is very very popular armor of Shadows basically lets you cast Mage Armor for free this is only useful obviously if you're going to be going for no armor build base speech gives you speak of animals for free begunly influence can be useful if this is going to be your main player character and you can interact with them because it gives you proficiency and deception and persuasion Devil's sight is the one I love you can see normally in darkness both magical and non-magical this is big because it lets you see through the darkness spell and this is to a distance of 24 meters so this is the equivalent of the best site in the game for any race but also sees through not are through magical means as well you finish Vigor which basically gives you false life for free mask of many faces gives you the uh this guy itself that you can cast that well one of the Shadows gives you one of the Shadow ability do note that the second that you move or do any action this will go away so it's very situational repelling blast is also very popular when you hit a creature of Elder brass you can push the creature up to four and a half meters away from you so it's good for pushing creatures off Ledges and such and thief of the five Fates it basically once prolonged rest you can cast Bane as a warlock spell slot or using a warlock spell slot so do note this is just getting access to the Bane spell it's not free like some of the other spells mentioned here also as you're gonna see pretty much at every level you can always replace the spell of a new spell so this is mainly important because you get a limited amount of suppose you can memorize and so you may want to replace an all of the outdated spell that you may not necessarily want to use for one of the shiny new ones that are higher level access so level three your warlock spells start to improve so upscale to be more powerful as at every level you'll have a chance to replace the spell you're gonna get access to level two spells now and you can add one of them here they are again you can pause to get damaged out of daggers is pretty good for AOE darkness is the one that works so well with Devil's sight so create a dark shroud that heavily obscures and blinds creatures within blind is very powerful because you're gonna have this Advantage at attack rolls and all your range and spells uh range is reduced to three meters and then attack rolls against binding creatures have advantage so if you have Devil's sight you can be in darkness get none of the benefits and then if you're fighting anybody that is blinded within the darkness they're gonna you're gonna get the benefits of fighting against them very powerful do notes a concentration spell last 10 turns so keep that in mind you can if you get hit hard enough and you lose concentration this Darkness will go away hold person is also quite good mirror image is good for defense Misty steps is good for movement but a little costly for considering how few spells you have to cast and then a three finally you get to pick your pack bin there's three of them packed of the chain is going to give you a familiar including two unique ones amp and quad set a closet rather the amp is in of particular interest because it does have double sight so it can function within Darkness with you it's got a nice little attack and you can have it be invisible permanently as long as it doesn't act or in between acting The Pact of the blade is the most powerful pact or rather most popular you summon a pack flipping or you can bind whatever weapon you're equipped with to be your packed weapon and whenever you are wielding that packed weapon you can use your spill Caster ability to modifier meaning your charisma modifier instead of strength or dexterity so you can cast this like on a two-handed ax and use Charisma and get all the benefits meaning you do not need to have have high strength or dexterity for weapons you can utilize that high Charisma to become very effective and melee and basically create the classic GIF the hybrid melee fighter that's also good at casting of Aldrich blast at range and finally I've packed it a Tome this gives you access to three cantrips that are quite powerful guidance vicious mockery and Thorn whip with guidance being the big standout here so if you don't have like a cleric or Druid in a party to give this bonus to the group this is very potent these will also Power Up level five and we'll go over to power up versions when we get to level five at level four you're gonna get to replace a spell again you're also going to get another level second spell that you can choose from and then importantly you're going to look at feats now there's a couple of ways to go around with the Warlock when it comes to Feats ability Improvement scores are pretty effective and I highly recommend getting your charisma to 20 at least eventually if you started with 15 chrism as I mentioned I recommend two potential Feats to help you if your concentration checks so that you don't lose concentration and hence lose the effect of the powerful spells that you cast the first one would be resil resilient you can pick Constitution and it's going to do two things one I'll bump your Constitution to 16. but also it will give you proficiency and Constitution so help bump up that saving throw when you get hit so that you maintain a concentration and another one you can pick at a later level is war casts that are very popular for this class you're going to get an advantage on saving threats to maintain concentration on the spell so basically concentration on those Constitution saves as a bonus you get a use a reaction to cast shocking grasp at a Target moving out of melee range again that's a little bonus but really it's the advantage on saving throws that's big so those two plus bumping up your abilities input scores are really popular if you end up being a warlock that uses a nice big two-hander don't forget grape and weapon Master is also very very popular for that at level five again you get to replace your spouse you get next to third level spells and here they are counter spell can be very effective as a reaction fear is powerful gaseous form is good to go into those nooks and crannies and secret access points to areas where you'll see though oftentimes if you're a full size you'll say you're too small to fit gaseous Farm can get you in there vampire attach is also unique to notice because it does do damage heals you for half the damage and it is a concentration spell that's similar to hex for 10 turns you can recast the vampiric touch again without using an additional spell saw do note you have to maintain that concentration and you have to be within melee for this you also get access to picking one more eldric and vocation you get access to two new invocations the first one is Meyer the mind this gives you access to the slow spell were used as a warlock spell since this is not something good Baseline of the subclass it might be worth looking at this does counter the haste spell as well if the enemies have it on them switch of almond lets you cast pistol curse again it will utilize utilize a warlock spell slot though also I just forgot to mention in a moment ago but at level 5 you do get an upgrade to your pacts so if you had chosen The Pact of the chain your pets get to attack twice instead of once for packed of the blade you get to attack a second time with your packed weapon do note this currently bugged I believe so this is stacking with the extra attack from Marshall classes and so for those you're going to basically if you had five levels for example in a fighter and then five levels in a warlock you would get the bonus attack from The Fighter so your base attack your bonus attack there and if you had five levels in warlock you would get a bonus attack from the packed weapons you could get three Baseline attacks very powerful until the potential gets fixed and impacted a tone you're gonna have access to three more powerful spells so anime dead you're gonna have access to haste which is very powerful and also uh the chain lightning I believe spell so very very potent uh decent option for all three areas but at least until a potential fix the pack the blades probably the most powerful now at level six you're gonna get to replace the spell again and then pick another level three spell so go ahead and pick whatever you find fitting you also get Misty Escape as a feature upon taking damage you become invisible on your next turn you can cast Misty step though this will break your invisibility and Misty step is very very powerful you basically get to teleport up to 18 meters so you can go up to any Heights Etc move past enemies and items Etc very very good so this is a great defensive effect and unless something is um sense of visibility or see invisibility Chancellor if you get hit once you're probably not going to get hit again that turn at level seven you're gonna replace another spell potentially you get access to fourth level spells blight's pretty potent dominate Beast can be very powerful and then a big one for this class is greater invisibility it's like invisibility however ink invisibility breaks when you fail increasingly harder stealth checks on attacking casting spells or interacting with items so this lasts up to 10 turns and as long as you have a decent stealth check you're going to be able to potentially attack and stay invisible keep moving around and keep attacking and hold on to this for numerous turns and again it is unique to the arcfay sub class the other two subclasses do not get access to this greater visibility so very very powerful you also get to pick one more eldric invocation you get three more options book of ancient secrets gives you access to Ray of sickness chromatic orb and Silent spells you can cast these spells once per long rest they don't expect any spell slots when cast you also get access to Dreadful word which lets you cast confusion but utilizing a warlock spell slot and finally sculpture of Flesh you can cast polymorph but you again use a warlock spell slot here so pick what it which whatever you find the most useful to you at level eight you get to replace a spell you have to pick another level 4 spellers use or let or lesser as you deem Worthy and you get access to another feat so pick whatever feet you like again ability improvements or warcaster probably most popular for me at level nine replace the spell if you wish then you get access to level five spells there's only three of them but they're all very potent dominate person hold monster and seaming this one is unique to this subclass we can discuss up the four members of your adventuring party get if you're gonna do like an AOE stealthy setup but I would say hold monsters or dominate person are the most popular here and then you get access to another Elder convocation three new options minion of chaos very powerful lets you conjure an elemental using a warlock spell slot otherworldly leap gives you access to enhanced leap and Whisper of the Grave allows you to cast speak of the Dead without using spellsa do not pick this up there's numerous ways of getting this for free in Act One the easiest being when you run into the specific NPC that lets you respect that one within his grave you will find an amulet that lets you do this basically for free so definitely don't waste your slot on this and on level 10 in addition to replacing a spell there's a new subclass feature called beginning defenses you have built stoic barriers in your head harder mind and you cannot be Charmed so obviously certain races have this innately but if you don't then this is pretty nice you get to pick another can trip and then you get to pick one more spell of fifth level or below at level 11 in addition to being able to replace the spell if you've gotten this far you get to unlock the final third warlock spell slot you also get to pick another spell a fifth level or below and then you you get to utilize Mystic or the cannon and this is different because you get to select one level six spell you can cast this once per long rest so similar to other casters and you can cast a spell without expending a spell slot and here are the options for you Circle of Death is a personal favorite of mine and it create Undead is also quite powerful and quite nice so pick whichever one you Dean Worthy and then finally at level 12 beginning to replace the spell you get to pick up one more spell you probably if you've picked up all three level fives at this point you may only have level four below to pick so pick whichever you think would be useful you get one more Ultra convocation and you do unlock life drinker so if you're melee warlock this could be very helpful your melee attacks the additional necrotic damage equal to your charisma modifier so it can be quite effective and then you pick your final feet to complete your build now when it comes to equipment it's all going to depend on how you're building out your Warlock if you have a baseline warlock that only has light armor then obviously you're going to want to have your light armor option here you do not innately get access to Shields so unless you pick that up with a multi-class or a Race Choice then you what's going to dictate the your weapons and equipment is going to dictate whether you want to go for more a Caster heavy warlock or if you go back to the blade melee heavy so obviously if you can't use a shield I would recommend using a two-handed weapon for Max damage if you're going back to Blade if you're going to go Caster heavy then it really doesn't matter what weapon you're gonna equip maybe find a staff or something like that that's going to give you a decent spell otherwise of your equipment get the best light armor get some equipment that's going to buff your stats if you can like the birthright gives you plus two charisma with your amulets and jewelry I would find ones that give you utility like this amulet gives you an extra spell slot or maybe get something that gives you extra use of Misty step or any other support effect here's another example like this cloak that gives you dominate person so anything that gives you the kind of variety in your power now of course if you get access to being able to wield a shield I'm a big fan of having a one-handed weapon and a shield for your character additionally if you unlock medium armor you could cap your dexterra at 14 and utilize that you can either even find specific medium armor that's made of lighter material and it'll state that it doesn't have a negative effect of on your stealth checks and has no maximum index benefits so that's there to consider or of course if you've multi-classed especially have access to heavy armor to definitely go for that and then you can respect to drop your dexterity to 10. now when it comes to multi-classing the Warlock is very very commonly used in multi-classing you can get major benefits including the packed weapon starting at level three so you could go as little as three levels into it and combo with for example a paladin to go for a full Charisma based melee build where you get your casting and your melee effects impacted by Charisma instead of strength and dexterity and charisma you could of course go to four levels in this class to get that first feat or even fifth if you like the improved packed effects for example if you like that bonus attack that currently stacks of Marshall melee effects that give you additional attacks so again most commonly you're gonna see three four or five levels dipped in Warlock and there's a lot of different builds out there I'll make sure to put one out as well in a little bit of time so a lot of variety with the Warlock that are all very very powerful all right guys that brings us to the end of the arc face
