in the smaller's gate 3 video I'm going to be showing you three early game barbarian builds and we're gonna have one build here for each subclass these go up to level six just like the other videos and these are builds that can kind of get you going early on in the game to best utilize Barbarian a couple of these are multi-class one of them is not so the first build that I want to show you is a six levels of wild heart Barbarian and why I like six levels of this first of all is you gain extra attack at level five all the barbarian builds I'll show you today have at least five levels of Barbarian because if you're playing early on in the game before you multi-class with another martial class that has extra attack you're going to want to make sure you have extra attack from somewhere and if you start with Barbarian that is the best way to get it is just go five levels in part variant and secondly when you take six levels of wild heart Barbarian at level six you're gonna gain an animal aspect from a list of 10 and some of these are quite strong I really like stallion here this allows you to gain temporary hit points whenever you dash and you're gonna gain two temporary hit points per character level that means at level 12 this would be 24 but at this point in the game it'll give you 12 temporary hit points whenever you dash and we've taken the eagle heart here because this gives enemies disadvantage on opportunity attacks which is okay but more importantly it makes Dash a bonus action or gives us the option to Dash as a bonus action so then when you dash in combat you're gonna gain those temporary HP and you're still going to be able to attack twice on the same turn now keep in mind on the first turn of combat you're going to have to decide what you want to do because rage is also a bonus action so you won't be able to Dash as a bonus action and rate just a bonus action at the same turn however you could Dash as an action if you want and then use your bonus action to rage depending on what your setup is or you could rage on turn two or you could use Dash on turn two just to gain the temporary hit points and then attack twice but barbarians tend to get hit very often so this is a great way to give them like a health bubble that they can continuously use and it doesn't cost any resources they just have to be raged so as long as they're raged which is basically the entire duration of each combat most of the time they'll be able to keep using Dash to gain temporary hit points which is really nice and I also take the great weapon Master feat here in order to use Reckless attack um to kind of offset some of the you know hit chance that you're going to lose by using great weapon master we're using a two-handed weapon so we're getting that extra and damage in exchange for that hit chance penalty but you absolutely hit like a truck with this build and that also gives you the option to make a bonus attack with you know your bonus action if you kill an enemy or critically hit so you've got a lot of things you can do with your bonus action you know you can either Dash to gain extra temporary HP or you're going to be able to use another attack so that's three attacks or extra HP gives you a lot of survivability and keep in mind that while you're raging too you have damage resistance to physical damage so even if you get hit it's going to be a lot less damage so that damage bubble is even better you know while you're raging so next we're going to take a look at five levels of berserker and one level of Monk and the reason that I decided to multi-class here is that Berserkers basically get their best class feature or subclass feature at level 3 when they gain frenzied strike and then rage throw after this what they gain isn't that great in my opinion so typically if you're talking about like a level 12 build you would probably take three levels of berserker and then nine levels of something else unless that's something else isn't a martial class that gives you an extra attack then you might take five levels of berserker and seven levels of something else and why I really like monkey or even one level is it makes it so that when you attack with a weapon that you're proficient with that's not two-handed you're going to be able to use your bonus action for an unarmed attack and that's like you know there's no resources for that other than that bonus action and you also gain Flurry of Blows allowing you to use your key to attack you know with an unarmed attack hitting twice so that's really really nice as well as a bonus action and as you level this build up I would suggest taking more levels of Monk in order to gain more key energy use flurry emblems more and you definitely want to take Tavern brawler if you're setting up for this build for your first feet and that's because it's going to give you one strength or one Constitution which is good but it's also going to make it so that when you make an unarmed attack or you use an improvised weapon or you throw something that your strength modifier is going to be added twice to your attack and damage rolls normally it's only added once right like you use your strength for your attack roll and then your damage roll but now it's going to be added two times keep in mind that whenever you're using flurry and blows you hit twice so then the damage is going to be added you know even more to that which is really nice if you have a really good Synergy here and you hit like an absolute truck and your attack rolls because they gain the strength bonus as well are never really going to miss when you're using unarmed attacks like fluria blows or unarmed attacks so you have like a really low chance to miss at this point and remember too that there's like a lot of gear that Buffs your unarmed attacks in this game that you can use for this build which is great and Stat wise you know you're going to want to focus on strength obviously because you're going Tavern brawler you're going to want to have a lot of constitution so you have a high Health goal and you'll want some Dexter Security in order to boost your armor class and you're going to focus mostly on strength but you know you're not going to get as much Advantage out of some of the you know things that monk would gain from their dexterity like deflect missiles isn't going to be as good because your dexterity isn't going to be as high although there are gloves of dexterity that work really well for this build that you could use it'll give you 18 dexterity which will give you a lot of armor class particularly if you're going unarmored and you know allow you to use those things better so I highly recommend using those if you have them and as you take this build higher if you go way of the open hand it eventually gain you know manifestation of body mind and soul you'll be able to add even more damage to your arm attacks so it just gets stronger and stronger the higher you go and for the last build I want to show you I'm doing five levels of wild magic Barbarian and one level of druid and what I really love about wild magic Barbarian in this game is that at level three every time you rage you're gonna gain a positive effect from Wild magic there are like eight effects and they're all positive so you don't have like the same thing that you have going on with Bob magic sorcer where you never know if it's going to be good or bad what's going to happen to you it's always going to be good so you definitely want to take advantage of that now I do recommend that you move up to enemies before you use rage because sometimes you get hostile aoes like the deal damage around you and they will hit you're near them so moving up before raging is a good idea if you're a wild magic Barbarian and you do gain some good things at Wild magic level 6 which you will want eventually but what I love about those is they give you spell slots back so you probably want to multi-class with a spellcaster or you can just use those for other Casters in your group but I kind of was trying to figure out how can I make this benefit my character and so I took through it and what I really like about Druid here is it allows you to use sheleighly like on your club or on your staff in order to make your attack and damage roles use wisdom so you can dump strength with this build pump wisdom and then as you increase your Druid levels which you should do as you move forward they're going to be very effective because you're going to have very high wisdom and you're going to be able to cast them effectively and still deal decent damage in melee combat and you'll still have extra attack from Barbarian you'll still have rage from Barbarian and you'll still have Reckless attack from Barbarian combat so you're gonna have decent melee and you'll have some good spell casting as well but one thing that I want to mention is that I highly recommend taking spells that don't have concentration with you can still have some if you want a lot of Druid spells require concentration but while you're raging remember that you cannot concentrate on spells so if you throw it in Den rage it will end and you also can't cast spells where you're raging so there is a little bit more you know of a managing of your character here where you have to plan ahead and I like to take spells like Thunder Wave or ice knife or healing word for this build that you can use before you Rave right like maybe you set up in combat or using those spells then you rage and then you go to town attacking so make sure that you take spells that don't require concentration unless you you know are planning to not rage then that's fine but if you're gonna rage you know you're gonna waste that spell if it's concentrating so make sure you keep that in mind when doing this and then I would highly suggest moving forward that you either go circle of the spores to further boost your melee damage and to give you some spells or you go Circle the land in order to pick up some you know Circle the land spells that don't require concentration that hit hard like lightning bolt or Metals acid era stuff like that so it's really up to you if you want more martial damage with circle the spores or if you want more you know better casting spells so that wraps up our video on three early game barbarian builds I hope you guys enjoyed it give you an idea how you can play your Barbarian early game we will have some more end game builds later and the way you would play builds in this game early is not necessarily the same as you play them later because you only have limited levels so you have to make the best decisions at the level that you're at so I hope you guys can see why I made decisions and you know at least when five levels of Barbarian in order to gain extra attack as always if you have for other tips things I didn't mention please leave them in the comments and if you have questions leave them there as well and I will try and answer them as soon as I can [Music] [Music] [Music]
