January 10th January 10th jingle jingle - I wish we had like jingle bells hi guys we are not alone for one I mean you are not alone we're getting to you um so hey we recognize that this year got away from us towards the end of the year this way from us toward the middle of the year when the baby happened and then it just we never got we never got it back you just ran away and then we were like there again it ran away and 2018 the end of 2018 became just like a hot mess of just race to the finish is rough anyway like 2018 was it was a weird year that I'm gonna be talking about that more on a video coming up soon but um but 2018 was rough and so as a result we weren't able to do a lot of the usual holiday things that we like to do and we enjoy doing alongside you as we lead up to like Christmas break as we lead up to New York things like that and so we promised you at the end of 2019 like I had this moment of realization where I'm like wait our final stream of the year is like final nights that's not a very effective way to like end the year it's like an awesome final because I didn't end up beating the game because they got frustrated by the beginning so yeah that was and then everyone was gone you know I know Amy had to figure out how to run a TriCaster I'm indicating to the person who mayor maybe you don't know that yet I may not be sitting next to me on the couch you know Jason was gone in Michigan - who knows what he was doing up there I don't know like tap trees for what you do in Michigan that you're a legitimate outdoorsman my friend they do that they do ice farming up there like like in frozen are you sure you are chopping you are cutting the song that everyone hates in that movie like what a solid way to start off like your biggest Disney movie of all time like hey slowly Church about chopping ice so anyway hey so today is our holiday special most miracle nor Acula stem of the year and we thought what better way to bring in the spirit of the holidays after the holidays have already passed then by doing a much belated white elephant gift exchange but not just a most aggressive game of the holidays it is do they I mean these holiday spirit and holiday spirit celebrate I mean 11 months out of the year Mario Party is the thing that ruins family relationships but for one month out of the year it's white elephants and so that's what we're doing today actually is I saw on Twitter this this thing that was trending actually where it wasn't just a white elephant gift where you take a gift and then people have the option of stealing it from you we'll explain the rules but on Twitter I saw that there's some families out there who do like an equivalent of like Mario Party for gift exchange where if I want to steal someone's present I then have to beat them in a minigame to earn the rights to steal that present from them and it gives you an ability to defend your presence to just great she's usually not the case and white elephant usually if you get the good gift especially if you're early in the game again will explain if you get a really good gift you're early in the game they're doing deals that it's over over like I'm gonna be stuck with like the Jumbo industrial-sized pack of Cheez doodles that someone brought which would be a mile away great I would please just give those to me well maybe that perhaps that is a gift that is on the table today maybe you don't know up with like this is better example eight the sampler pack of eight different types of black licorice though your mom would like that yeah so anyway we are joined on the couch today here it is out so our contestants for today are people that you probably heard us mention by name but they drift around yes I'm the cast in and out every once in a while so you have a me to my right you have Meredith to my left and to their extremes you will have cream to help out with things so if they think right or wrong the whole family's here almost except for dance yeah not like which we totally respect oh and it's not the dad who shows up in my Instagram yeah different damn his name might not even I would be dance you don't know it's actually Gerald Wow I ever met a Gerald in life I knew one what yeah he was my neighbor growing up and he had such an incredibly thick southern accent that no one could understand what he would say so you he'd be like REO Turner and mow your lawn there's my garden and you'd be like yes I have mold I didn't know my lawn this weekend but he it was unintelligible he was wonderful I only do the only Gerald I've ever known giving which is stealing gifts from each other for our own holiday crap oh there are two ways that you can engage in the chat well actually there's one way you can engage in the chat what two ways holiday traditions apparently Meredith on at some point got a cheese printer or something what is this about chocolate I wish it was a cheese printer I was I was at a holiday white elephant party and my gift got stolen and so I got another gift and it came in a box that said cheese printer like you like to slice cheese Oh print on the cheese yes I thought it was like a 3d printer for cheese birds away whatever Velveeta breaks free so it was not actually a cheese secrets are not actually a cheese printer which I was super hyped it was a fake box designed for white elephant gift okay to fake you out the person who wrapped it I had to tell me to open the box okay and inside the box is card game oh okay good girl yeah how was the card you haven't played it he's like actually this might help it was like six years ago I still have cheesy to this day or a lack of cheese I guess to this day oh okay son and in case you're not familiar with way delve in general it is the same kind of idea as Yankee Swap one person opens the present they can either I guess the people thought the Yankees were mean and they would like take presents for each item toys for you anyway awesome you open a present yeah the rules are at what reserve as a present they're like wow I love this present or wow I hate this present and then the next person opens a present and they can either choose so they could choose to either steal that yeah they can sell the shoes present or open a new one the risk of opening the new one is it could it could be worse than what you could steal and see you greet each person if you get a crappy gift your goal is to basically convince the people around you that it's a great gift that they want to steal sometimes they fall for it sometimes they don't so we go through and you steal and whenever you try and steal something from someone you have to challenge them to mini but apparently there's a wrinkle here that came from Amy there's another like little game that you can play with presents okay at Christmas time which is available date haha I mean it is a very special time of year right now today is the day before my birthday so this is like the only time it's the day after Oliver is six for six months okay so anyways you wrap a present yeah multiple times Oh multiple sorry surprise and you tape the heck out of it I don't know if you can see that it's really taped it out of so then this is like a taping job that I would do because I'm bad at wrapping gifts you essentially play hot potato okay you put on I didn't have mittens for you put on your mittens okay alright and you start trying to unwrap the gift okay the person to your left starts rolling you mean how is it possible that we're the two least nerdy like I'm the cool one here though a six-sided die two six-sided die d6 swag what's the greedy 7 I don't even know what that is that a thing gonna be something what the person rolls doubles I then have to take off the gloves and hand the present over to them they put on the gloves they start trying to unwrap it and the dice move to the next person and they try and roll so the first person doesn't even get a chance to choose their present they just yeah we're just gonna start with all right is this hard whoever finishes and gets the present open yeah out of the box is who gets to keep that present I won from there we're just gonna go clockwise right or tastic president or has to keep the present if the present is less than Wow Wow okay okay all right well you'll see all right so to make it fair yes let's roll real quick one dice I got it man it's like no facial right here in real life but seriously like there's no gradation to that chest hair it's just like you you wait until it's like a pool where it's like it's shallow and then all of a sudden gets like ten feet deep in a hurry like it gets thick man that's like Austin Powers love yes Terry although I do want to steal I think I'm gonna open up the pool - a couple more presents this what was your rationale for picking that one it looked kind of innocuous and it has some heft to it so I was thinking maybe it's like not it's literal it's in the packaging and everything I think to this year Matthew went to a white elephant party this year where one person didn't you say one person so we wrought a MacBook Pro so since I was on escape tonight I've gotten in with like the vlogger crew which is fun like I've never had like connections with those people so it's been fun to meet them and they're a fascinating group so I was invited to Joey Graceffa zweite elephant Christmas party which was delightful haha the spending limit was 50 bucks I'm like oh my god that's a lot for a white elephant gift so I got the coolest gift that was there let's be honest which was a I didn't get it I like got it to give away which was a Sega Genesis handheld with like a ton of games on it and so you could like take it around and just play like classic Sega Genesis games it was awesome everyone was like what is this I'm like guys that's really cool and and we had yet all over it like you had way too many like bath bombs and like candles available um but then to people I don't know if they just like missed the memo or were like it's for free and then just brought it to the park don't know what I'm guessing so two people like the first one was someone got an iPad pro and that was just one of the hot-button items that everyone was like competing to to get because that is clearly over for the $50 spending limit you know bath bomb with a candle or iPad pro but the big-ticket item that everyone was also competing for was at first I'm like oh this is garbage it was just like a generic white hoodie with some black text on I'm like oh this looks like crap you know just like someone had a spare in their back or whatever fine side by Chris but then you notice it and Chris's portrait guy really gets around no I thought it was a gag gift but then on the front it says Balenciaga which is apparently of a really big thing which is one of those like whoa let lets let's flex look kind of like supreme ask sort of brands yeah but like the the hoodie looked like such junk like it was I I felt it no no really I felt it and I'm like it this feels like oh honey it feels like 90 like a high quality but it was just like generic kind of hoodie with like very simple like ink on it with blood see I am like okay is this real and if someone looked it up and it was and it was a $750 hoodie nose who brought these oh really and this must have been enjoyed so we do a video and who brought this Trisha Paytas brought the hoodie and the iPad really she pop brought Bolton wait let me know what the chat was it like did she miss the memo or did she just want to like throw chaos and cost like or create content I was so confused if part of me wanted to win the hoodie just so I could be like this is like I don't know just like make a comment I'm sorry I don't believe in like the name branded miss of stuff especially when it's like oh I don't like I really I saw the video says Naomi bought apparently there was a video I I mean we put a lot of it like I'm really proud of our merch I would far rather have like our hoodie like it feels higher quality and thicker and like okay that's all that on eBay 150 bucks no I'm really not so anyway so Lauren he sold the iPad this very retro feel because the show is set in the 80s and so it's it had that kind of like purposeful effect on it it was very cool and like the opening line of the book was like if you're a nerd this is for you enough this is for me um but Stacey plays who's one of my friends in the face it was also there um she's like oh my gosh that's so it like she was so excited about I'm like oh I like charity auction item deal with the stress of that there are all the extras there are extra bowls I'll swap out with Amy so she can have your assuming you need these again right again yes so using
