when playing a co-op game with friends the most important thing is cooperation that's why they're called co-op games what did you think it stood for sorry I'm already getting irritable thinking about all the times you've been playing with someone only to find out too late that they're not working with you but far away from you against you or not at all why am I doing all the pushing you hate to see it but see it we must here are seven unforgivable Co-op moves that ruin friendships thanks to commenter building wings for sugesting this list we work together what are we doing all right Waluigi the we got we this fun right okay okay okay fine we just got to encircle the secret to a good co-op experience like the secret to a good marriage is separate dues no wait I mean communication so when you find yourself working with another person towards a common goal such as drawing a closed loop around a picture of toad in Mario Party superstars it's important to share a plan and get that across quickly and succinctly uh Ellen you go anticlockwise and I'll go well let's go the way with sounds great until it isn't see sometimes one of you will dutifully follow those plans while the other one will silently change those plans and not tell the other one until it's entirely too late come on Luke what are you doing we did it oh let's do this on let's do this on Instinct Instinct we had a plan and you've been going on Instinct are you still mad about this what do you think yes any breakdown in communication will inevitably lead to failure as you strive for different routes to your goal destabilizing what could have been a strong team how did you win we managed to get one you have to just for a point yeah I know why didn't you help me surround it I don't think this team will ever recover does this mean I can go home no do the next entry as Garfield and Friends famously sang friends are there to help you get off of a meat hook wait is that how it goes okay Garfield didn't sing that but only because he's never played a team game that requires revives such as dead by daylight in which a team of regular Joe's try to outsmart and outmaneuver a vicious killer who's trying to hang you up like a dry-aged piece of beef [Music] [Applause] in games like this when the player is temporarily taken out of action it's super important for their Co-op mates to immediately stop what they're doing and run to do the necessary albeit somewhat tedious job of coming over to rescue you usually by holding a button for just a few seconds in your immediate vicinity otherwise they'd have to beat the level with significantly reduced Manpower and so it only makes sense to revive me oh I've died oh no LC oh no my health bar is right there everyone thanks for nothing friends few Co-op moves are more infuriating than this one the deafening Silence from your teammates as you beg for a revive that doesn't come presumably because they're too busy having a great time playing video games to come to your Aid I'm going to try and unhook myself cuz I can I can visibly see that no one's no no I'm coming I'm coming of course that's not to say that next time someone else needs a revive you won't seriously consider letting them die so that you can continue hunkering safely behind a generator it's survival of the quite honestly and they should have played better in the first play oh no now I've been got save me someone anyone hello well enjoy trying to escape the Killer without me oh they have oh wow and in record time cell gilded chalice whoa what's going on what's going on why am I leaving where Mike why are you where are you going I don't know help what are you what are you doing I don't know the boat just started moving I'm not sure if that's accurate there's no iron team but there is one in I'm going to set you on fire if you don't start pulling your weight people love playing games with me it's a good atmosphere in my defense there's nothing more frustrating than playing co-op with someone who's not paying attention or simply gets bored and Powers down like a Roomba that's run out of battery with only half the rug cleaned for example in Sea of Thieves it takes a crew working together to get the ship going you want some help with that yeah please look at me being helpful it's not going to last but in instead of working with the team some players will get distracted leaving other people to do their job can you maybe trim the sails a little while we get out of yes ell can you trim the sails please you know the phrase many hands make light work well in this case it's many hands do Mike's work instead of a nice day adventuring across the seas the rest of you end up pulling dead weight while they occasionally remember that they're actually part of the crew right what am I doing what what job am I supposed to be doing what inevitably happens to any player that loses track of what's happening and what they should be doing is that they'll fail to keep up with the group find themselves alone and vulnerable and get themselves killed I died I died I imagine my surprise and shock we'd say we saw this coming but you were too far away from the group for us to see anything so yeah all right peace [Music] out well we here at outside extra are True Believers that games are for everyone and for every skill level we also understand the frustration of someone whose friend keeps getting them killed while some games make Co-op accessible for all by letting less experienced players Ride Along on the coattails of the more practiced members of the party making it more fun for everyone involved other titles are less [Music] forgiving take for example bread and Fred a penguin themed platformer where you and your buddy are tied together and must climb up to the top of the level sounds simple [Music] right yeah it's not so simple any Mis time Jump or stumble off a cliff can send you tumbling down losing a whole bunch of progress the issue with this game is that thanks to that rope connecting your cute feathery waist together if one of you Falls you both fall with your fats quite literally entwined if one player keeps up they'll keep dragging their partner down Kicking and Screaming too hey hey messing up one too many times in a game like this could be the death nail for even the strongest friendship and have you wishing you had picked up a game you're both good at like Mario Party Never Again I said I was sorry I'm not but I said I was trolling exists in many different forms but those forms share a simple goal piss someone off the most innocent if still irritating form of trolling can be found in Co-op gaming where plenty of windup Merchants can be found plying their trade in making their friends lives a misery see co-op gameplay requires a lot of trust which makes any Co-op partner of a troll an easy [Music] Mark for instance playing the co-ops story line in Portal 2 requires action from both players to solve its puzzles and one player can greatly piss off the other by simply not doing their bit and watching on as their friend fails often painfully turns out robots can feel pain this leads to incredibly frustrating moments for the player trying to move things forward and if the person playing properly reactions are strong enough progression can truly get halted all in the name of annoying them for example during a classic Co-op moment of both players needing to do something at the same time to open the door the troll will simply not do [Music] it look I I know I'm just giving the troll what they want but seriously we'd get this done a lot sooner if you just pulled your finger out and put the bloody Cube down I mean hey this was fun let's play again next Friday there was a whole bunch of there was a whole Luke I saw him do it again it's Luke I'm having to follow him around he does murders and none of you believe me because of my rage and passion that's the second time you've reported a body though Andy that makes you sus lying Society agrees is bad unless it's to save your skin or down so it's hard to judge people too harshly if they just suck at lying you know the type and if you've played a hidden identity game like Among Us where a co-op team worked together to identify a murderous impostor you might have acked the type too how many tasks do you have left to do tons because some people just cannot pretend to be something they're not oh the the little doesn't get thrown out with her now whale's unmuted so not great if you're trying to win it among us but not a crime what should be a crime however punishable with jail time is the opposite Co-op Pals who appear to be lying while telling the truth I don't know what it is perhaps it's just the pressure of being questioned by a group but there were just some people who managed to appear unbelievably suspicious despite not actually being in the wrong whatsoever listen also I don't think it was Jane because I did a couple of tasks next to Jane and I didn't get murdered oh bless you Ian I was about to say the same thing for you but now I'm not sure because e is so convincing what why am I not convincing what have you been doing I don't know look at your little giggly face look at you you're caught in the light I'm not cting a lie this is I was born with a mistrustful face this work is an absolute nightmare for the rest of the team as it makes it totally impossible to properly root out the impostor in your midst look who wasn't the impostor Ian you got it m that was that was a thing to do even less helpful than this natural inability to appear truthful his teammates not being able to remember what tasks they performed during a recent round lending their entirely Earnest account of their time an extremely suspicious air but I was in that little group for a little bit like with I can't even remember there was so many of us but like I think Andy was there and I hate to say it but I do think I do think Mike is quite suspicious this is of course a dream scenario for the real impostor whoever they are probably Andy I don't know just a feeling space him I would I'll go with the group but space [Laughter] him oh no oh you need help I got I got stuck what happened I don't know I got I got wedged somewhere get back here as the students in High School Musical once sang We're All in This Together but when it comes to games certain Co-op players haven't seem to have leared this important lesson that Troy and Gabriella of High School Musical know all too well I'm of course referring to players who like to run ahead and get all of their friends killed don't see that happening in a dcom often now you might be thinking of people running off in first-person shooters splitting the party and making them vulnerable to attack but inside scrolling platform of games like ones popularized by Mario and Sonic running too far ahead can literally kill your friends what this can effectively do is turn a co-op game into a single player speedrun with that player's friends dying over and over behind them completely helpless he help me sure it can be a bit annoying if your friend is being slower than you but for our money giving chronically impatient players the ability to kill patient ones by shuffling them off the screen is way too powerful very susceptible to overuse and ruining everyone's fun [Applause] we're all of this together now we know that we we're all STS I'm sorry Jo really let you [Music] down so those are some of the co-op behaviors that just have us
