yeah but it's pal world so we're switching it up shut up hey what's up pals today we're talking about pal world I reached level 50 and I've clocked over 100 hours I still have a couple bosses to complete but with that experience I wanted to give you my real Thoughts with no hype okay I want to take a quick look at IGN here and it's got some unsurprising bugs and performance issues but when you're riding on the back of a flying dragon while shooting a blue duck with an assault rifle most of those blemishes wash away enti no they [Music] don't this is already one of my favorite survival games and I'm incredibly excited to see how it evolves so you got IGN out here giving it an eight prob like eight that's that's the official score on that yeah it's a rookie score you can use decimal points so that's why I decided to come up with a list of criteria to actually review the game I'm going to cross off what I think is good and whatever is not crossed off is what still needs work so first off I do want to say I really enjoy the game I I am still playing it however with that being said the game does need a lot of work so what is pal World apparently it's a nine out of 10 on Steam but really it's an it's an action adventure survival and monster taming game it's set in an open world and you can capture the pals use them to battle or put them to work in your base but that's crazy I didn't know steam actually gave it a n out of 10 so that's why we're doing this review so we're going to start with the graphics and visuals I really like the character designs and the art style what I appreciate most is that it is on Unreal Engine 5 and I believe they're taking advantage of that nanite technology which allows there to be no calling distance when you're looking into the distance they don't they don't call the distance so you you can as far as you can see you can see the land masses all the land masses you see you can actually go to so I only expect graphics and visuals to improve over time because it's on ue5 they also were going to be able to take advantage of the Lumen technology so I think it was a really smart choice in going with ue5 so we're going to check that off okay moving next to the game play I'm definitely Crossing this off the controls are responsive the mechanics feel good the shooting the moving it's all really good and I think again choosing Unreal Engine really gives them an advantage so that's all all good for the story line and narrative there is none basically whatsoever you really have no idea why you're there what the world is who the people are who the enemies are you have a general vague idea but yeah it's it's lacking so we are not Crossing that off the sounds are good again ue5 makes it easy to have really good sounds and I think they'll only improve is there anything special about the sound effects not really but it's good enough performance I have no issue on PC I do have a pretty good computer so some people might experience performance issues but overall I I really didn't have any issues with that UI and user experience now I think the UI is good it I like how they have it disappear when you're not in action and doing stuff so you can really take in the landscape and the visuals however the user experience really leaves a lot to be desired for example the pal box where you manage all your pals there is a sort option so you can sort by the type or the level but there's no real filter options and what would make it a lot better is if you could favorite Pals lock them so you can't you know discard them or sell them and that way you could sort a page of all your favorites that way cuz it's it's it's really hard to organize and manage the pal box once you're a higher level another example of lacking when it comes to the user experience is the management of your Workforce at your base the pals that you're trying to manage it'd be much simpler if they actually just gave you a menu or something there is a Podium that you can put up to like manage from and it brings up a user interface I I think they should expand upon that and and make you able to manage your pals and what stations they're working assign them more diligently and specifically to certain workstations so they don't get sidetracked doing other things it's not the the system they have now for managing the workforce is you have to lift them up and throw them at the station and once once you get bigger Pals the boxes the hit boxes and stuff start clipping everywhere it's very tough to manage the workforce once you have big Pals roaming around doing miscellaneous stuff so we're we're not going to cross that off yet that that the user experience definitely needs some work here the multiplayer and online features again where I am not crossing the head off the the multiplayer experience is really Bare Bones you can join a guild but again like for the user experience and and joining The Guild there there's really not much there at all it's it's kind of annoying that you're when you're Guild when you're in a guild with several people you you're still limited to however many bases you can have based on the level of your base so yeah the yeah we're not Crossing that off as far as replayability I surprisingly I think I will cross this off because there's a a lot of different ways that you could actually play the game there the pals and the the partner skills that they offer really offer a unique way to play the game they have different starting areas so you can you can get a new experience by by starting in a different location on the map and also the way you build your character you can build them in different ways and use different Pals in different ways so I think as far as replayability goes it it'll get better but I think there is a level of some replayability there the progression system so now leveling up and unlocking new crafting items and whatnot I think it works the I think the progression system is is fairly good so we're going to cross that off I think it it at least meets the minimum and and again it it'll only get better I I don't actually want to cross this off yet because here's the deal I've played over a 100 hours now out of 100 hours played 50 of the hours I swear I spent just mining metal and to me that's kind of a big issue because it's very repetitive and boring to just nonstop Farm metal the so this progression system actually does need work and that's why going to uncheck that it's half the time I've played is just mining metal it doesn't quite make sense to have to spend all my metal to craft a workbench and then uh like how how so the cost and the use of the metal in the system it it needs a lot of balancing now the game systems so we're talking things like cooking and the crafting the farming the breeding the ranching all these game systems the breed uh what is it the the incubation of the eggs these systems fundamentally the idea of all these systems is really really good however when it comes to the base building it's can be very difficult to just build a lot of the structures because of the the clipping and the Snapping of the actual components doesn't work right the pathing of the pals gets screwed up so really you end up just trying to spread everything out and you you can't really build the way you want to because it's broken so you end up just building something that's functional and actually works so I am I'm not going to cross that off that's honestly one of my biggest gripes with the game is that the game all the game systems are awesome but most of them are broke uh as far as Innovation and originality the game is very Innovative in my mind is it original not really it's it's a mashup of a lot of games I think it's ultimately a mashup of Arc survival Pokemon obviously and and Zelda I've seen some Zelda gameplay and it's actually interesting how how similar it is so I will cross this off I think it's I think it is an Innovative idea to mash up these games and it's very in tune with the generation that grew up with Pokemon and then now is older and looking for a new more mature experience in that type of genre now the value for money that's easily crossed off I've played well over 100 hours I plan to play more and it was on sale for $26 accessibility yeah we can cross this off you can select different game options you have easy medium hard and then when you do run a server you can find tune a lot of these different difficulties the in-game tutorial teaches you the basics and does a fairly good job getting you going they also provide a survival guide that has a ton of information and and I can appreciate all that and then for longevity I can definitely cross this off the potential for future updates is obviously huge it's early access and as far as any post-launch support they have been fixing bugs and I and I've seen some before the big patch they had they were hot fixing several bugs for instance in the tech tree there were two production assembly line twos and this was very confusing the first couple days but after the first couple days I I went to show my friends this bug it because it was a typo and it they had already fixed it it was a hot fix so it's nice to see that they are working on fixing all these bugs furthermore on longevity I think it could be one of those games where you you're set up for either DLC expansion packs or possibly it could even do like seasonal content I think it doesn't take a super long time to level up so having seasonal content like maybe Diablo I or something like that I you know I'd be okay with that I don't think everybody would necessarily like that but uh what we'll see where they take it I don't expect them to do that but what I do expect is probably DLC or expansion packs so overall IGN gave it an eight and I understand they're trying to be pretty fair because it's early access but I don't I don't want to give them too much of a benefit just because it is early access I'm not I'm going to be be real about this this is going to be my real thoughts about this and as much as I love the game we're going to go with like a 6.4 out of 10 and that's a real review right there I mean if you give it an eight where you where you where you going to go you give it a nine like steam the game needs a ton of work I don't I don't know how steam could give it a nine that's just crazy to me if you disagree with that that's fine but just consider this for a moment look at ARK survival ascended on Steam it's a six out of 10 if we're just gonna grade video games based off of the the game idea why would Arc be a six out of 10 so that's my pal World review thanks for joining me don't forget to like And subscribe and I think I plan on doing some follow-up videos with as far as the endgame so if you want to see that subscribe
