Palworld First Impressions "Is It Worth Playing?"

pal worlds is a brand new creature collecting Survival game that came to steam in January 2024 this game despite its controversies has since exploded in popularity and is basically what You' get if you combined Pokémon with Ark survival evolved in this game you can build bases collect Pals which you can then deploy to work on your base as well as fight alongside you to take on bosses capture stronger Pals and clear dungeons in this video you'll get my genuine first impressions of palor with my pros and cons list at the end and if I enjoy the game enough and if you guys want to see me play it's any fun create new world peon Islands let's go with that difficulty normal sure multiplayer I mean I don't have anyone to play with so probably not got custom difficulty settings with a lot of different options we'll just play on normal with default settings let's go create your character let's try and make a character that looks somewhat like me she's got some thick thighs hasn't she crushing skulls between those legs dudes out here skipping leg day we can certainly increase the leg size we can just be a walking tank if we want to I've never seen a body type like that that has an eight pack I do appreciate games that let you go hard with the sliders I've always appreciated them and now I've got the body type of something from Attack on Titan we're going to have to sort this out skinny with jacked arms bro been injecting the sauce let's go for a nice healthy balanced body type shall we that will do the job I suppose we are strong but functional give us a beard oh these are face presets are they oh I can have this body with this face seems legit I have one of the most basic hairstyles that you can possibly have yeah almost every game that I play doesn't have it so I can almost never make a character that looks like me we'll have to go with this one demonic eyes normal eyes are just fine thank you very much Craig start a game let's go so we've awoken to a bunch of creatures on a beach and a viice the towers are the key the tree holds the truth I suppose I should remember that information and that's it you just wake up and you're in the game move around wsd movement feels quite responsive if we right click it kind of zooms Us in left click we're punching we're jumping can we Sprint we can Sprint with shift you can dodge roll with control fairly familiar controls if you've ever played a video game before so let's head towards this sheep creature and give it a punch Lambo hello you cute little hit it with some big powerful hooks there we go you little sheep rat or out of energy we need to wait for it to recharge okay we killed it level two that's giving me a bunch of points and it's got physics so you can kill it and you can roll it around can we roll it down the hill no way go on we can as well that's amusing knock it over here oh it doesn't despawn it just persists I like that it's the Small Things isn't it let's pick up whatever this is Journal open the build menu primitive workbench okay I suppose we should go find some trees I love games where you just spawn in the world you don't have to listen to a bunch of and you're just like instantly in the game I don't have patience for sitting through like long cut scenes or waiting around to play the game I like just being dropped into it and figuring it out there's a shrine here unlock fast travel Expedition Survivor are you a friend so some basic supplies thank you can I punch them yes I can O Level 24 guard has just spawned I bet every single person that plays this game does that 100% can I punch the NPC it's a natural reaction isn't it but the guard is actually fighting the Survivor so let's help the Survivor actually let's let's probably just run away I'm wanted so I've got like a GTA wanted level have I I would not to a good start are we spawn in the world instant criminal how do I say sorry I'm sorry I I'll come peacefully put the handcuffs on no they're just like the police in America well have we lost all of our stuff okay let's spawn where we died we have learned a lesson it seems like everything can be attacked let's take our stuff so when you die you drop everything your pals and items will be dropped when you're knocked out and here's the Survivor friend that helped me out in the beginning and they have been killed by a guard sometimes you just shouldn't help strangers I suppose all right let's get down to business time to punch some trees a staple activity of any Survival game is it me or does my character just look like he has a massive ass like bro's a little bit thick at the bottom isn't he I can build a primitive workbench put it here build I like the visuals on how it's built this game just looks and feels very Japanese right let's craft ourself a wooden Club get to work and now we are ready to deal big damage what else can we make a torch a stone pick and a stone axe so let's go look for some Stone that's a big monster mamor rest kind of excited early impressions are pretty good maybe we can whack this for stone okay yeah this gives Stone all right let's build a pickaxe build a stone axxe level three Let's test the pickaxe is it more efficient yes it is we're getting all pelium fragments and stone oh you can actually climb that's cool I like games we you can climb climbing is a bit scuffed but yeah does the job so far the game seems like a less scuffed version than a game I played recently called chamra land which was Nightmare fuel let's have a quick look down at this technology list let's see I bet you can have like crazy guns later on yeah rocket launcher rocket ammo judging by this technology tree we've got a long road of progression ahead of us oh we got some stat points to uh spend on Chuck it and attack okay the way you cycle through this UI menu is pretty well done so I guess this is like a Pokémon ball attack Pals to weaken them then press Q to throw a pal sphere and capture them so let's bunk you around the head it's kind of cute isn't it and throw a ball at it and there it is we've captured our first pal they're so cute that you almost feel bad for killing them oh it's it's getting very dark I think it's time we build a base so the area within this blue line is our base starting to feel the survival element of The Game come into play berries that does not look like a berry that looks like chicken and egg suppose we should just build a base let's just build a basic base just so I can sleep all right let's deploy a pal put it in the Box Pal's at the base okay so now it's just going to hang out and work around the base I guess cool the building's quite easy everything snaps together really well uh quite impressed actually okay we got first little house looking good pets without beds get stressed right so we need to make a bed for my uh my pal let's put my bed here oh my Pal's helping me build the bed and it's making it build faster that's cute good job if you just leveled up yes you have nice let's build a bed for my pal nice very happy what what this lift oh wait what why why do I want to lift it just lob it why are we walking around holding it with one hand y oh yeah we just we just throw it around throw it in the fire I have nefarious intentions oh who are you wondering Merchant hello friend let's see what you've got milk Berry seeds egg various schematics I'll save my money for now thank you base upgrade Max Pals working at base and max number of bases excellent base level three let's capture a chickpea there we go maybe it can produce eggs for me so then we blob a ball at it thank you helpess out Lads really you're not going to help me you useless animal I like that you get XP for doing pretty much everything from like cooking to crafting to killing to capturing cloth outfit yeah we should probably put some clothes on get a little bit of extra building here let's make the base look at least a little bit nice the pals are going to live here outside where they belong one with nature lambo's sleeping in his bed it's been quite a cute Charming game so so far so now I can finally wear some clothes cloth outfit my little sheep friends helping me out starting to look like a real Adventurer hungry just pecking away at this oh he's eating egg kind of brutal isn't it oh two of them are helping me now nice all right so now I've got a berry Plantation then I can seed it planting red berries okay seeds planted now we water it takes quite some time now we just wait for it to grow level six next parachute so I'm assuming this is going to allow me to Glide okay got my parachutes press space to Jumping to Glide oh that's fantastic let's get out there and hunt some Pals so using my glider that's so much better okay Craig don't just fall off the cliff this one's level 16 let's see how strong it is I suppose it might be really strong let's throw you now let's fight come on Pals yeah that's strong okay level 16 monsters are strong when you are level five or something let's go return to my corpse I suppose well let's fight this there we go lob the ball GG another one oh yeah this is strong arrow to the face a capturing spree oh we killed it f level seven just kill you with the pickaxe because I'm brutal now you can only have one active summon at once it seems I wonder if you can help me mine you can thank you I wonder if the other ones will be better at mining can you help me mine no but if I press F you will give me fluffy Shield right some of these pets are more helpful than others oh that's nice my PS are just crafting it on its own thank you my friend now I can be a lazy bastard there we go built the lumbering station Stone pit would also be very handy now all of my pals can help me out oh you're transporting it I've put my workers to work they're slaving away this one's transporting very clever oh this one's seen that the berries are so now they've seen that the berries are ready to be harvested and they're automatically doing it nice but they don't seem to want to chop the wood I guess the cat pals are for Mining and I need to find another type of pal for lumbering the sheeper for transporting we're starting to learn level eight raid what do you mean raid you're invading my base I didn't know you can get raided where are the enemies oh here they are that's cool that you can get raided help us out team oh my God my pals are decimating this raiding party good job a bunch of loot we made short work of them the enemy has been defeated GG back to chopping wood I suppose there's a dangerous Pokémon come on up there level 14 dinosur perhaps with all of my pets we can take it on we can try might be a bad idea though what is this that's an interesting one let's try and capture this got to catch them all oh no you you're not supposed to kill it bad cver what is this an egg use an egg incubator to hatch the egg okay oh I see you're watering the garden and you're planting in the garden so these two are just taking care of the Garden on their own that's fantastic this game starting to get really addictive now that I'm venturing away from my base and I'm capturing different types of Pokémon there's loads of different types of melpa can be ridden sometimes drops wool no way how how do I ride it oh it's locked I guess I need to like put a saddle on it or something I'm glad I went into this game blind with zero research because like the more I've played it the more stuff I've discovered it's just a really enjoyable experience just learning the game yourself for the first time not really knowing 100% what's to expect oh what is this thing doing stumbling into my base all right can we kill this thing we can try come on team this thing's wandered into our base have everyone attack it we're all in combat we big damage we're zerging this thing down oh lobber ball at it come on capture it come on oh we got it let's go we got a dinosur this is my most powerful one yet so let's summon dinosur yeah that's a Giga Pokémon can be ridden enhances grass attacks whilst mounted for the first few hours the more you play the game the more fun it gets which is a very good sign oh we're 3 hours in at the moment and I'm just having an absolute blast we got two Pikachus over here spark it it's called I'll grab both of these there we go we got a Pikachu what's this a flack all right let's go grab a flack this game is awesome go grab a flack got to catch them all level 12 oh I see by hovering over these Pokémon you can see what what they actually do to help out you handiwork water cool and you transport so you're very useful so now we're basically like leveling up to the next tier metal pickaxe metal axe high quality workbench wooden structures Tan's assault rifle I can make a gun for my Pokémon wait what's it called this game's called I can make guns for my power knife for butchering summoned Pals what what there's no way it's just going to allow me to butcher my cute little pals surely dinos s's enjoying the hot spring here I can make the things for my pals so let's make a saddle for my malaca okay summon the malaca ride there it is and now I've got my first Mount awesome air cannon what's this wait what that deals some serious damage up that rock fluffy tackle mate this thing can move okay that's game changing good Mal Packer it's so op just run around shooting other other Pals from range rocks are being mined trees are being cut ingots are being torched Hicks are being crafted what the hell is that day dream I've never seen one of those before let's murder it so now I want to see what it means by but butchering Pals right we've got quite a few of these guys I'm going to equip my butcher axe let's see what happens he's running he knows something is a foot he's mining The Rock I'm trying to kill him command butcher yo what oh oh that's what it meant dude that's brutal bloody hell it was exactly what it says it was this game's certainly not vegan friendly ly this alone has no doubt offended people I don't even need to look online to know that wa what is that that one's huge goomas like a special one let's try and capture it have we got it again nice you've captured a lucky pal my character is basically getting upgraded to the the next tier now got the next tier of weapons and now we've just crafted the next tier of armor how does it look looks pretty cool this game certainly got me used to being a slave master cuz that's essentially what these pals are them are willing little slaves oh level 11 chillet dancer of the Plains so let's summon din some and give this a try oh okay D summon throw the ball surely we've got it again we need to capture a chillet that's a boss monster we got it first boss kill acquired one ancient technology Point level 15 and we definitely want chill at part of my party bloody massive that is so cool it's huge chillet the best a man can get so now I've got my chillet saddle let's give it a try chillet I choose you all right let's jump on it oh this one moves fast oh it Sprints really fast so there's literally no need for me to use my Mal Packer anymore this game is so fun like the first few hours of this game has just been an absolute blast I haven't really got anything negative to say really it's just been a really fun experience oh looks like a bit of a different biome here maybe Syndicate Thug Syndicate base here there's a captured pal in the middle of this Camp let's try and free it I guess maybe it will become my friend yeah okay so now we can free this one I suppose release pal so will you join my team for me rescuing you yes nice that's cool so you can go around and free Pals from The Syndicate and unlock them that way Nightwing saddle o so this would give me access to a flying Mount egg incubator let's definitely unlock that with my ancient technology points grappling gun this would be good for traversing the environment definitely need that okay hold to incubate egg let's see what we're going to get anything new a dud dud okay that's a new one got another egg here let's fire this one in and we can finally make a saddle for my Nightwing how fast is the Nightwing pretty quick to be fair oh it can do a little saw oh I see when it runs out of stamina it goes it goes to the floor okay shall we test the power of this one I think we should test the waters to see how strong this Mammoth thing is because the fact that it's in the starting area does have me thinking that it can't be that strong let's give it a try we we run that's just almost one shot my wixen we're not messing around with that one I'm very sorry Mammoth my deep apologies it appears there was a misunderstanding you are indeed strong looks like we're found found a cave entrance what's in here a dungeon boss level 13 okay let's give it a try I didn't know there were dungeons in this game how has it taken me so long to find my first dungeon I've done quite a lot of exploring as well I love the dungeons are a thing so we got a cat creature here another one we just caught a cat pal mate this dungeon is bloody massive can't believe how big it is Vixie okay it's like a level 12 boss version of Vixie kill the first I suppose jump off chill okay we caught one kill the other ones okay I think that's the end of the dungeon open the chests highgrade technical manual pendant of diligence is this like an accessory that I can wear yes raises your work speed nice and then we click here to leave the dungeon cool so that was our first dungeon really fun what's this depresso that's a hilarious name for a pal come here depresso is this just going to make all of my other Pals sad he escaped maybe depresso but he's got the will to live he's got the dog in him wow there's a giant tree over there in the distance giant Snowy Mountain you can actually see really far in this game sacred realm of Frozen wings okay Enter dungeon so the monster in here is apparently level 15 yeah this should be doable let's summon you o that hurts yeah this is going to be a nice one to capture line of sight it capture it throw the ball instantly throw it again I'm almost dead again use a gigas spere if needed okay we got it just that was a tough one good job chill it now I'm level 21 I can make a musket but I need high quality pal oil where do I get that via Butchery all right maybe it's time to whip out the butcher knife I'm assuming this is how you get the oil like through Butchery oh oh no I've just pet it I wasn't supposed to pet you I was supposed to butcher you that's so wrong I feel really really bad maybe I need something else to extract that oil it's like the first time I'm having to use Google just to figure out where to get this bloody oil from okay so now I should be able to make a musket there it is we've got the high quality pal oil this takes quite a while to craft so I'll just check one of my pals on it ah musket complete okay it's time to go test the musket let's see are we strong enough okay can we do it wixon I choose you get in [Music] [Applause] there me it takes ages to reload this thing but it deals big damage right in the face okay time to thr the sphere 40% come on there it is cess easy I think this is one of the most fun Survival Games I've ever played because the sense of progression is constant and it's addictive like you constantly want to just explore the map you want to capture every single pal like all of this is like covered up and you constantly coming ac across dungeons treasure and getting around the world is also really easy and not tedious which isn't always the case with survival games it's just been an absolute pleasure to play I had no idea this game even exist existed until a few days ago come back off my holiday in Japan editor sends me a message check out power world what a lovely surprise right now it's time for us to make some metal armor double the defense nice feels like we've arrived at the mid game right there's one more thing I want to do we're going to take our strongest characters to go to this Tower I've had this quest in the top right of my screen since I started playing the game challenge the boss at the top of the Syndicate Tower I think this is probably like a tutorial to boss fights this might be like some kind of main story thing yeah we've got a cut scene we haven't had a cut scene for ages in before she's like level 10 and I was supposed to have fought her ages ago this is like a a Pokémon battle I guess Zoe and Gris bolt that looks like a really strong P it seems pretty strong shoot it okay we're actually dealing massive damage to it to be fair we can do this I saw that it had 30k health and I was like nah there's no way we're supposed to do this now no we're good I wonder if we can steal this pal from her I'm going to try no just doing a laser attack run Dodge can we throw the ball at it ah we can't finish it there it is boss eliminated five ancient technology points nice unlock fast travel so with the Syndicate boss defeated I think now would be a good time to wrap up this first impressions video although I'm tempted to do a full review for this game because I'm really enjoying it and I just want to keep playing so with that said let's jump to the pros and cons so after playing pal world for a few hours my first impressions are as follows Pros the game's progression system is fun addictive and easy to understand the more I played in the first few hours the more fun the game became and the more I wanted to play which is exactly how it should be the building system in the game works well everything snaps together as you'd expect I love that your pals can work together on your base and I was surprised at how many pows the game allows you to deploy as your work slaves this added to the sense of progression and made a lot of tasks that would usually be tedious in other survival games more fun due to the element of automation via Pals aesthetically I find the game to be interesting it kind of gives me Japanese arcade Vibes getting around the map in pal world is very easy thanks to the Fast Travel points exploration feels rewarding due to the eggs you find around as well as the collectible lift monk Effigies which increase your capture power I enjoyed being raided by the syndic every now and again which tests the defensive capabilities of your pals back at basee the game gives you multiple base difficulty options as well as the ability to fine-tune specific options right at the beginning the game doesn't take itself too seriously which is reflected in the fact that you can equip your pals with machine guns as well as butcher them despite them being so over the top with the cuteness even though the game has only recently gone into Early Access I didn't personally experience any massive bugs performance issues or crashes and most importantly the game is it's just fun it's rare that any game impresses me or sucks me in these days so the fact that pal worlds managed to do this and make me want to make a full review video just as an excuse to play more is a testament to how fun it is oh and there's also a Pokémon mod out for the game already so the potential of this game with mods is just insane cons if you're looking for an in-depth story you'll likely be disappointed with power world as it's a game where you basically create your own story vast areas of the world do feel kind of bland due to a lack of pois the climbing in the game feels a bit scuffed at times and the AI can sometimes be a bit buggy overall playing power world for the first time has been an overwhelmingly positive experience and I'm genuinely excited to play more hence why I'm going to follow up this video with a full review of me getting to end game and taking on the big Giga bosses I love it when games like this just appear out of nowhere zero hype zero anticipation and just to hook you in because the progression is that good so is pal world worth playing yes although this is just my first impressions video I already feel like I've got my money's worth with the game and I'm excited to play more so stay tuned
