how's it going everyone it is panjino here and this is the Baldur's Gate 3 Ultimate FPS increase guy in this video we're going to be covering the absolute best in-game settings you can apply to your system alongside other tips tricks and optimizations you can set on Baldur's Gate 3 to get the absolute best performance possible regardless of your system specs whether you're running on an older system brand new system high-end low end Windows 10 Windows 11 regardless of your system specs this video is going to leave you with the best gameplay experience possible for your machine so jumping straight into the optimizations for those of your Windows 10 or 11 for very basic optimizations take yourself to the bottom left hand side press the Windows start button type game Space mode then select game mode setting make sure that Windows game mode has been enabled next up goes to the bottom left hand side once again this time we're going to be typing GPU space settings then selecting the graphics settings panel head over to change default Graphics settings with inside of here if you do have the option for Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling for Baldur's Gate I would highly recommend turning this on those of you on Windows 11 you may also see the option for optimizations for windowed games if you are planning on utilizing borderless window this is a great option to have enable and if you're not that's completely fine I would still recommend turning this on then go ahead to the top right exit out one last Windows optimization I would highly recommend that you at least look into for those of you on desktop PCS for laptops I would not recommend this head to the bottom left type power space plan then select edit power plant with inside of it go to the navigation bar at the top select power options get onto preferred plans go to Show additional plans and I would highly recommend actually selecting the high performance power plan for those of you utilizing a desktop PC if you want to change the power plan just simply click on the small circle next to the power plan that's it selected you can then exit out if you want to go back to the stock power plan jump back inside of the power options menu then just go back to balanced or whatever the power plan was you were using before next up for those of you on Intel AMD or Nvidia gpus it is highly recommended to download the latest GPU driver specifically for Baldur's Gate 3. if you are watching this video a few months after the main release of the game you'll more than likely be running on one of these newer drivers but if you're watching this anywhere near the release date or you haven't updated your GPU driver recently I would highly recommend taking the time to do that specifically for those of you on Nvidia gpus there is also another optimization guide you could watch on top of this but you can fully debloat and custom build your own Nvidia driver to strip back the features you don't want and keep those that you do to enhance performance help overall CPU load and really customize your Nvidia driver for the gaming experience you are after finally it's time to boot into the game and cover all the in-game optimizations you need to be making use of alongside in-game setting presets fine-tune the game for the best performance for your system head inside of your game's launcher and press play it's worth noting that throughout this guide the FPS counter which can be found on the right hand side of my screen and used in The Benchmark examples is not something that's built into the game I am using MSI afterburner paired with Riva tuner statistics server to monitor my FPS in-game if this is something you would like to unlock for Baldur's Gate or any games across the system you can check out the quick and easy video guide and how to set this up on your machine to monitor your performance in-game you can find that Linked In the description down below I would then recommend booting into the instance in which you're currently playing in so you can get a real world FPS example alongside an example of the visuals in the game so booting into the game I'm currently playing at 4K and this is the default stock settings that I would get on this PC thankfully it's a pretty high-end machine for the purpose of recording this video but I have run this optimization guide on three different of my machines to ensure that I've covered both AMD Intel and Nvidia products across the board at different price points and different specs at this point press Escape navigate over to the options menu go to the top to the video section and this is where we'll be applying the bulk of the optimizations first few options display adapter make sure this is set to the main GPU on your machine play monitor should be set to the monitor in which you're planning on utilizing resolutions should be set to your monitor's native resolution if you're not sure what that is it's typically going to be the option which is the highest selectable with inside of the menu refresh rate in all instances should be set to the highest available display mode unless you're planning on doing a lot of tabbing in and tabbing out you would want to use borderless windowed otherwise as this is a DirectX 11 or Vulcan title you would nearly always want to use full screen where possible we're going to be disabling vsync in all instances even for those of you utilizing g-sync or freesync setups it is essential to be turning vsync off in game framecap are going to be leaving unticked until later in this video because we want to see what sort of FPS we're able to achieve in the game first this then brings us down to the general section where you'll then have two presets which you can select from on the left hand side you'll have the recommended settings preset and on the right hand side you'll have the low Graphics recommended preset for most of you watching this video I would highly recommend actually checking out the preset first as you might be surprised at the FPS results simply pause the video copy the settings which have been shown on screen and as you can see for me going from stock settings to the optimized preset I'm going from about 86 frames per second all the way up to 110 FPS with those simple settings but we're nowhere near done yet jump back inside of the in-game settings menu once you've gone through the main preset of your in-game settings we can then navigate down to the post processing section this is where things get very interesting when it comes to post processing you now have a decision would you like even more frames per second or would you like to make the game as beautiful and as sharp crisp and clear as possible both options are still going to leave you with a very good looking game and for most of you watching this video I'd recommend trying out both and to see which you prefer in terms of gameplay or visuals first of all we're going to be favoring performance for this we're going to be taking ourselves down to Nvidia dlss and amd's FSR if you are utilizing an Nvidia RTX GPU and you can change the dlss options we're going to be utilizing dlss over FSR for those of you on an Intel GPU AMD GPU or older Nvidia GPU where dlss is not available we'll be using in FSR 1.0 as you can see I'm currently getting about 110 frames per second I'm going to be switching dlss to Quality if you aren't able to change dlss then you would be going with FSR Ultra quality pressing apply jumping back into your game and seeing what your FPS is like as you can see for me I'm getting now about 150 frames per second and my game still looks great if you're still happy with how the game looks visually press Escape go back to the options then go with the option below the one you just tried out so I tried out quality I'm now trying balanced if you're on FSR you'd go from Ultra quality down to Quality go back into your game see how the visuals look if you still want more performance jump back into the dlss OR FSR settings and continue to lower them until you find where you're happy with both visuals and performance but what if instead of using dlss or FSR you'd like to favor the best visuals possible alongside optimized settings get the most efficient gameplay possible instead of utilizing dlss or FSR for those of you on an Intel or AMD Radeon based GPU or you can't utilize dlss you want to make use of fidelity FX sharpening Nvidia users can also use this you can then set the sharpening slider to post no preference go back inside of the game you should now notice that the game looks incredibly sharp and very detailed I'm really a big fan of how this looks and it's a great option alternatively for those of you on Nvidia gpus if you head over to the anti-aliasing setting you'll then have an option titled dla which stands for deep learning anti-aliasing this is an Nvidia RTX exclusive feature go ahead and enable this select accept this then applies that same dlss algorithm but at your native resolution instead of running an upscaled one this should mean that your game looks absolutely beautiful and it should really clean up anti-aliasing and leave you with a very nice crisp clear without any horrible Jagged edges I know that's something that many people favor once again whether you're favoring performance or favoring visuals go around play the game for a few moments see how you get on then try out the settings to either favor performance or favor visuals and see which works best for your system and your overall performance in Baldur's Gate it's not necessarily about getting the absolute highest FPS possible it's about getting the best experience possible so running the right optimized settings another favoring performance or visuals is really going to allow you to get a more efficient game game and in many cases increase visuals at the same time I've decided that I'm going to be going with a dlss setup as I'm running at Native 4K I'm going to be going with dlss balanced as I still find that looks very good for my system and the performance is absolutely beautiful once all of your in-game settings are dialed in there is one last step we can look into and that is applying an FPS cap you want to make sure that your experience is really consistent and there's no point in wasting extra frames and stressing your GPU further applying an FPS cap is a really quick and easy way to get a more consistent smooth feeling game alongside lowering the power draw from the GPU lowering the overall temperatures of your system and it's just a win-win-win scenario for a game like Baldur's Gate to apply an FPS cap go ahead and press Escape ever get down to options video go to the top to the display options find FPS cap at the bottom turn this on and for the most part if you're able to get more FPS in your monitor's refresh rate I would highly recommend just applying an FPS cap at your monitor's refresh rate it's really easy to see what that is whatever your refresh rate is set to up here set the maximum frame rate option to the same setting so 160 160 for me even if you're able to get double the FPS then you'll monitor refresh rate I would still recommend capping in your FPS because you're really just wasting frames in a game like Baldur's Gate but what if you're in a scenario where you're getting less FPS than your monitor's maximum refresh rate but that's still fine just think of an FPS Target that you would like to get there's a minimum and cap your FPS to that if you're able to get somewhere between 70 to 90 frames per second throughout your entire gameplay experience honestly I would recommend just capping your FPS down at 60. you are giving up a little bit of that extra high-end performance where you're opting into a really consistent feeling experience you're not going to run into horrible FPS drops you're going to see a much quieter cooler PC and it's just a way better option for a game like Baldur's Gate so for me I'm going to be capping my FPS at 160 and that's my game all set up I'm really happy with how this looks it's absolutely fantastic we've really optimized the performance here we've dropped the power draw higher FPS more stable frames and it's a win-win scenario and that's it for the bulk optimizations for those of you looking for even more FPS and are interested in other optimization guides or routes to get more performance out of your system you can check out the advanced FPS companion guide which goes alongside this guide in that video there is tons of features covered such as overclocking undevolting resizable bar bios options and everything you need to know about getting the best performance possible out of your system without having to jump in and do any unnecessary upgrades it's a really easy quick and convenient video to follow along with that can point you in the right direction to get more FPS out of your system without having to spend a penny when you boot into Boulder's Gate right next to the play button there is always going to be the option for DirectX 11 and Vulcan there is not a one setting fits best for all systems chart DirectX 11 trial Vulcan play the game for a while see which works best for you one might give slightly better fps but if you are experiencing crashing or issues on one version try out the other one because that could fix your problems but if you're looking for further optimizations for your system for Baldur's Gate or just system wide make sure you do check out the videos Linked In the description down below check out one of the two videos on screen now I've been pendino and I'll see you guys over there thank you foreign
