how's it going everyone it is panjino here and this is the ultimate FPS increase guide for cyberpunk update 2.0 whether you're going to be playing the bass 2.0 update or the Phantom Liberty DLC all of the settings showcased in this video will ensure that you have the absolute best experience possible whether your system is old new high-end low end whether it's a desktop or laptop anything in between this video will allow you to get the best performance possible out of your system whilst maintaining a great level of visual Fidelity alongside fine-tuned optimized game setting presets whether you're looking for really high FPS non-ray tracing all the way up to the best possible looking game if you guys do enjoy this video let me know of your results in the comment section down below your system specs and how you've been finding the 2.0 update to the game or even the Phantom Liberty DLC the first thing you need to do before continuing on is updating your GPU drivers Intel AMD and Nvidia have released their specific drivers for cyberpunk 2.0 if you're not entirely sure which GPU you have in your system take yourself down to the Target bar right click open task manager on the left hand side performance tab go all the way down towards the bottom where you'll be able to find other GPU 0 or gpu1 we're looking for the GPU which will be titled Intel AMD Radeon or Nvidia with that information take yourself over to your web browser for those of you on Nvidia gpus head over to nvidia.com download for those of you on AMD Radeon gpus head over to amd.com en support and for those of you on Intel Arc simply search for Intel Arc drivers on Google head to the Intel Link at the top scroll down to the latest whql certified game drivers and select download here if you're someone that likes to dive deeper into their system and looking for more performance gains you can actually debloat and customize this driver yourself and you can find the full video on how to do that in the description down below now before we jump into the individual game settings let's quickly go through very basic Windows optimizations take yourself to the bottom click the Windows button type GPU space settings head to the graphics settings button inside of it go up to change default graphic settings if you do have the option for Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling make sure this is turned on this is especially important for those of you planning on utilizing frame generation enable optimizations for windowed games at the bottom even if you're not planning on utilizing windowed mode for your game due to cyberpunk running on the DirectX 12 API there is an actually a true full screen mode with inside of the game so technically cyberpunk is running in windowed mode all the time now before continuing on if you do have the internet connection and a little bit of patience before doing anything I would highly recommend doing a complete reinstallation for cyberpunk 2.0 and being ready for the Phantom Liberty DLC this includes removing all of your old mods files absolutely everything the only thing I'd recommend keeping is your save files if you want to keep those for any reason this ensures that we don't have any older conflicting mods causing issues incompatibility or any old game files especially for those of you on AMD ryzen CPUs like the smt CPU fix that's no longer required for this because that fix has been implemented directly into the game with the 2.0 patch all you need to do inside of steam is right click on the game navigate down to manage then select uninstall after a few short moments the game will be removed head back instead of steam and when reinstalling the game if you can please install this to the fastest nvme or SSD available on your system as per the system requirements for cyberpunk 2.0 hard drives are no longer technically supported So the faster the drive you can give cyberpunk the better the results you going to get first of all we're going to be adjusting our post FX and bass settings we'll then be picking one of three optimized presets targeted towards low end medium end and high-end systems we will then be selecting the upscaling technology we're going to be utilizing in the game alongside tuning upscaling and for those of you that have frame gen support enabling frame generation and last but not least picking the ray tracing options which are best for your system GPU and preset I would highly recommend booting into a current save getting somewhere that's relatively quiet so I've decided to get to this point in the map again you can test this in any place that you like I'm currently running at the stock default settings for this system but again I'm only using this really high-end system to record this video in Native 4K so it looks best on YouTube regardless these are the stock settings press Escape head down to your settings menu we're first of all going to do some small fine tuning head over to your video tab now unless you are utilizing a proper g-sync or freezing setup you want to have vsync turned off in nearly all scenarios g-sync or freesync is actually something I would highly recommend utilizing in cyberpunk and if you would like to see more on how to enable that and the best settings you can check out the g-sync freesync quick start guide in the description down below windowed mode should be set to full screen resolution I would recommend having set to the native resolution for your display which is typically your maximum value within side of it HDR mode is complete personal preference I would only really recommend going with HDR if you have a decent HDR monitor though and if you haven't video reflex you want to have this at least set to on select apply then head over to the graphics tab first of all going to be scrolling down and going through the basic options because these are going to be set regardless of the preset you decide to go with field of view is personal preference I personally like setting this to 100. film grain will come down to personal preference I prefer to have this turned off though as I prefer a cleaner image alongside chromatic aberration this definitely does adjust the aesthetic of the game but I prefer to have a sharper cleaner image you may prefer how this looks but I tend to find it a bit blurry and distracting I also like to turn off depth of field for this exact effect as I prefer a crisper Sharper Image lens flare I'd recommend keeping on and for basically all systems I would highly recommend switching motion blur to off even if you want to go for that more cinematic experience we are going to be utilizing upscaling later on in the video and upscaling modes paired with motion blur in this game seem to give really weird mudgy effects for that reason to clean up the image drastically we'll be turning motion blur off then go down and press apply press Escape go back into your game see if you are happy with the visual effects again this isn't the optimized presets we're just adjusting the basic settings you may prefer how the cleaner image looks or you may prefer how film grain and chromatic aberration look so go back and turn those on if you want them scroll down to the advanced section and we can then select one of the optimized presets which is on screen on the left hand side you'll have the low optimized preset aim towards those of you looking for the best FPS possible on low end medium end or slightly older machines and unlike just going with the low preset with inside of the game we're actually able to raise many of the graphic settings without any impact to FPS the middle settings of the settings I would recommend practically across the board to those of your medium end systems all the way up to ultra high end these optimized settings will provide you with the absolute best FPS with minimal visual loss and lastly on the right hand side we have the high recommended presets which is for those of you that still want to favor performance but would like to make your game a little bit more efficient bring up some extra FPS whilst cleaning up the image slightly all you need to do is simply pause the video apply these settings to your game press Escape go back into the game and see how it looks please note that the FPS values that you see when testing these presets are not final as there is still some optimization we're going to be applying on top of this applying the high optimized preset for my system I'm able to achieve 95 frames per second again with absolutely no upscaling this is the preset I'm going to be utilizing for this system but on my slightly lower end system I would be going with the recommended preset once you've dialed in your preset we can now apply upscaling at this point depending on which GPU you have installed to your system whether it be an AMD Radeon Intel or Nvidia GPU will really depend on what upscaling techniques are available to you number one if dlss is available to you go with dlss amd's FSR 2.2 is substantially better than 2.1 but unfortunately in the game currently we still only have 2.1 the next best looking upscaler currently with inside of the game is Intel's XE super sampling or X ESS this will provide you better visual results than amd's FSR but it does not have the same performance benefits FSR does as this is system I'm recording this video on does support nvidia's dlss I'm going to be choosing dlss so head over to dlss amdfsr or Intel X ESS go to the slider for this and I'd first of all start off with the auto setting again if you're going with xcss set that to Auto if you're going with FSR set it to Auto you'll then have the option for dlss xcss or FSR sharpening in my personal opinion I'd recommend setting this to about 80 all the way up to one depending on personal preference I like one go ahead to the bottom select apply now we're leaving that setting at Auto for now because I find that the game actually does a very good job of detecting what level of upscaling will actually look good depending on the resolution you're playing at and the game settings on my system that's translated to a massive FPS increase all the way up to 140. again we're not utilizing any frame generation at this point this is just complete upscaling and optimized settings slightly move around the mouse have a look at objects in the distance you want to make sure that you're happy with this and you haven't introduced much smearing again if the game does look really blurry and smeary when you do this please make sure that you disable motion blur in the game settings if the game looks too blurry for you or too smudgy when you move around the mouse whether using dlss xcss or FSR head over to the slider and try turning this off of Auto and going to Quality when you apply that setting you may see that your FPS goes down slightly as the internal resolution may be raised higher but the game could look substantially better if the game does look better but you're not quite happy with the FPS so from quality and try out balanced go back into your game see how it looks see how it performs and keep going lower and lower and lower until you are happy with it visually otherwise just go and set this to Auto and adjust the sharpness to anywhere from 80 to 1. again if I was doing that with FSR I would head over to Auto so the image sharpening to about one press apply as you can see I'm getting slightly better fps with their facade but it does not look as good as dlss unfortunately in this current implementation so I'm going to be sticking with dlss so at this point you've got your optimized preset applied and your upscaling fully tuned next up if you have frame generation available to you whether that be in videos dlss frame generation or hopefully in the near future amd's FSR 3.0 frame generation heading to the Escape menu select settings find dlss frame generation and turn this to on at this point you should see a massive FPS increase please do move the mouse around play for about 30 seconds or so and get a feel for the input latency if you notice a substantial increase to the input latency go ahead and disable frame generation because you'll have a better experience with the lower FPS than you will with frame generation giving you the illusion of a higher frame rate but without any imper latency improvements but for 99 of you after you apply the optimized settings you should have your latency at a decent level just with the base optimized settings anyway so when we apply frame generation on top of that we should now be seeing fantastic results this feels Snappy and responsive to me and I'm really really happy with the performance and last but not least if you want to apply Ray tracing on a system where it makes sense we can go ahead and do that scroll all the way down towards the bottom to the rate racing settings turn these two on for those of you on an AMD Radeon GPU Intel Arc GPU or RTX 30 series or older I would highly recommend that you just enable the ray Trace settings within side of the game and don't enable path tracing it's still way too taxing without nvidia's dlss 3.5 technology which has just been implemented even with frame generator you're going to be playing with so much input latency from the low base frame rate it's really not worth it so if you are going to be utilizing Ray tracing with inside of the game pause the video copy the settings on screen now and apply that to your system now for those of you that would like to dive into the brand new technology which is launched for cyberpunk 2.0 which is the dlss ray reconstruction half tracing are going to enable this I would highly recommend that you're at least utilizing dlss super resolution and frame generation for the best results possible we need to do is have Ray tracing enabled navigate down to the path tracing technology preview section press apply a bunch of the ray tracing options will then disappear scroll all the way up towards the top find deal assess Ray reconstruction which should now be available turn this to on apply at this point you will notice a massive visual difference everything looks different it's almost like a remastered version of the game thankfully with this system utilizing dlss super resolution upscaling and frame generation with the optimize settings preset I'm still getting a really playable and enjoyable 103 FPS and the game still feels really good the mouse still feels relatively Snappy and it's a more than playable experience for most people it's still just going to be a turn it on to experience it for five minutes thing and turn it off afterwards it's still way too taxing on the system for it to be a viable option for me and I prefer to utilize either the standard Ray tracing settings with inside of the game or just no Ray tracing at all and having a much higher FPS lower latency experience because that's where I get my enjoyment from so to summarize you should have adjusted the basic settings and the video tab with inside of the game you should have then selected your optimized preset pause the video and applied that to your game applied and tuned to the upscaling method which best matches your visual preference and system specs whether it be xcss FSR or dlss enabled frame generation if it was available and must but at least gone through the optimized Ray tracing settings or enabled the super high-end dlss Ray reconstruction options depending if you wanted no Ray tracing Ray tracing or full path tracing last but not least for those of you on an AMD ryzen CPU regardless of how high-end low end old or new it is The smt Fix You may be familiar with with the older version of the game is actually embedded into the game via a setting which you can apply now simply take yourself into the game press Escape head settings menu head over to the gameplay tab at the top and if you are on a compatible ryzen CPU you'll now see the AMD simultaneous multi-threading or smt setting this will typically be set to Auto which is what I would recommend for most people but you could adjust it over to on select apply select confirm restart the game try to get to the exact same location you tested it before see what your FPS is then press Escape head to settings then try turning this off pressing apply and again running that exact same test alternatively you could do an FPS comparison with The inbuilt Benchmark with it both turned on and off there isn't really a one setting fits all it really will depend on your CPU so if you do have a little bit of extra time please do test out that setting and go with whichever gives you the best and go with whichever gives you the best FPS results and that's it for the optimized in-game settings if you're looking for further FPS optimizations or would like to dive deeper into your system to extract even more performance make sure to check out the playlists section in the description down below where you can Target specific games or part of your system that you would like to optimize further or learn more about utilizing the playlists so you can quickly and easily be taken to more optimizations if you have a slight of extra time and would like to get more out of your system without having to spend a penny if you're not entirely sure where you'd like to go next and enjoy content like this consider checking out one of the two videos on screen now and I'll see you guys over there
