foreign [Music] access Boulder's Gate 3 is finally here and the game is generating significant excitement and earning widespread Acclaim as one of the best RPGs ever made the game is developed by larian Studios using their own house Divinity Engine 4 and Visually the team managed to deliver excellent results for a top-down isometric RPG of this scale the environments are filled with details and the lighting system specifically Embark and indoor areas looks excellent but watch I really like the most is the attention the team has given to the graphics menu with preview images and a description showing and explaining the impacts of each setting and in this video as usual we'll examine how these graphic settings scale and impact the game's visuals and performance so without any further Ado let's get going [Music] let's start by discussing the general performance specifically the CPU performance the game has some major problems and areas with a lot of NPCs like here we can see a lot of staturing with bad CPU visualization which causes major FPS drops and this problem is more evident inside big cities like here and Boulder's cage and we can also see that once I stop moving everything gets back to normal so something is wrong with the way the game handles CPU resources when it comes to streaming assets and NPCs Baldur's Gate 3 has support for the X11 and Vulcan and from what I have seen in dx11 generally offer slightly better performance and stability compared to Vulcan like here in this GPU limited area we can see the dx11 performs around 4 percent better compared to Vulcan but what's more important is the 0.1 percent lows with 15 FPS when using Vulcan and 37 with dx11 indicating the dx11 has less structuring and more consistent performance but keep in mind that the difference between these two apis can sometimes depend entirely on what Hardware is being used that's why I want you to leave a comment down below and mention your CPU GPU and which Epi performance better on your Hardware let's move on to image quality Boulders Gate 3 supports dlss and FSR but unfortunately the game currently only has fsr1 which is a simple spatial upscaler and offers noticeably worse image quality compared to dlss or TAA thankfully hilarious Studios has promised to upgrade Baldur's K3 with the much improved fsr2 next month for ancient aliasing the game offers a range of options including dlaa in addition to GAA smaa and the possible that you should disable NG aliasing and Charlie and performance was using smaa costs around 2 percent and going to GAA costs 6 and to dla a 13 and there is an option for Fidelity effects sharpening which improves the image quality further and restore more details when using GAA all while having minimal impact on performance so for image quality if you have an RTX GPU and enough power tournaments to spare I recommend dlaa and if you are using GAA keep Fidelity effects sharpening enabled for upscaling dlss offers the best image quality foreign let's move on to model quality this section controls the geometrical complexity and level of detail of distant objects so the higher the option the longer the distance at which objects transition between lower and higher level of detail like here and performance wise when GPU bound going from low to medium costs seven percent until High 14 however when CPU bound going from low to medium costs 11 and July 18 percent so here given that the game already suffers from CPU performance issues I recommend medium model quality foreign next we have DHL distance This One controls the draw distance of small objects far away from the camera like here and unlike model quality the stitching has negligible impact on performance so here I recommend High detail distance moving on to instance this sense this one is similar to the previous stitching but for small objects closer to the camera like here and performance wise when GPU bound there is no significant impact even when going from low to high but that difference can increase slightly when CPU limited like here so for this one I recommend High I lower this stitching if you have a low end or an old CPU foreign Ty is next and compared to many recent games Baldur's Gate 3 is reasonable when it comes to vram usage even at 1440p I never saw the allocated vrm goes above 6 Gigabytes and here you can see the difference and quality and vram usage between each texture option in this area so for vram I think at nature 1440p 6 Gigabytes is enough for Ultra check circulology and if you have 4 gigabytes keep trickster quality at high or medium next we have texture filtering and here going from trial linear to even x16 costs around 4 percent so for texture filtering I recommend x16 now for animation quality and dynamic crowd these two settings don't really show any visual difference and when CPU limited and areas with a small amount of NPCs we can see a small difference and performance however in densely populated areas like this city here that difference increases to around 14 when going from low animation level of detail with Dynamic route disabled to high animation level of detail with Dynamic route enabled so here I recommend lowering animation level of detail and keep Dynamic route disabled since these two seatings can significantly hit the CPU performance and some areas without yielding any noticeable visual improvements [Music] let's move on to lighten starch in which Shadow quality which is one of the most demanding teachings in this game here going from low to medium costs around 2 percent but going too high costs 14 so for Shadows I recommend media Cloud quality is next and during normal gameplay you'll rarely see any clouds and even when clouds are visible on screen they don't impact the performance that much as going from low to even Ultra has negligible performance impact so here I recommend high or Ultra Cloud quality next we have four quality and this one controls the quality and resolution of volumetric effects like here and performance was going from low to medium costs around one percent to high two percent and to also six percent so here I recommend medium or high for quality for ambient occlusion the game relies on screens based ambient occlusion or ssao and performance wise it costs around five percent so here I recommend keeping ambient occlusion enabled the game offers two types of depth of field effects circular and gaussian and depth of field is more noticeable during conversations like here and performance wise enable in any type of these effects costs around five percent and we also have a setting that controls the resolution and quality of the analyzing for depth of field and here going from quartz or quarter and the noise costs around 2 percent [Music] for God Rays it seems like the stitching is not functioning correctly and regardless if it's enabled or disabled the God Rest effectual remains visible with no performance difference between the two options and the last stitching we have is subsurface scattering which when enabled enhance the way light interacts with characters skin which results in a more natural and realistic look and performance wise enabling subsurface scattering costs around three percent so here I recommend keeping this one on now based on everything we saw so far these are my recommended settings let's now compare optimized settings on Ultra preset at 1440p using dlaa on both sides here we can see around 25 percent boost performance when going from Ultra preset optimized settings [Music] Baldur's Gate 3 is an outstanding RPG with complex story interests and characters and exceptional writing and for a game of this scale larion Studios managed to deliver excellent visuals and presentation and they offer decent amount of graphic stitchings each week coupled with a well-designed graphics menu and user interface however the game has some serious CPU performance and streaming issues and areas with a lot of NPCs which can cause a lot of staturing and FPS drops and Larry and Studios should investigate and fix this problem as soon as possible and with that we arrive at the end thank you so much for watching and for your time if you enjoyed the video leave a like and if not leave a dislike don't forget to subscribe and hit the notification Bell for future videos and hopefully I'll see you all in the next one [Music]
