you can draw this and procreate this time we are going to create this cute little monster although cute i sure think i would freak out if i would run into him at night the tutorial is super super easy you don't need any experience with drawing or with procreate just check out these results from previous you can draw this video tutorials and of course if you want to learn even more or if you want to support this channel then you can join the community at patreon and watch even more tutorials all you need right now for this tutorial is a canvas that is 2 300 pixels by 3 000 pixels you'll need a color palette which is linked in the description and you'll need free brushes only brushes that are already in the procreate app and some brushes that are in my treasure chest i have actually put a new one in there so go and grab it if you haven't signed up yet then you can go to freefromflow.com but if you have already signed up for the weekly newsletter then just follow the link in the newsletter and then you can grab all the brushes that are in the treasure chest all right let's get started the first thing we are going to do is create a nice fluff ball and it'll be super easy we are going to use a special brush from my treasure chest and it's the soft short fur brush and for the color we are going to use this first color in the second row and to make creating a fluff ball even easier we are going to the wrench and then we'll go to canvas and then turn on drawing guide then go to edit drawing guide and here at the bottom select symmetry and then just click done now let's turn up the opacity to a hundred percent and make the brush a little bit bigger let's go for 40 percent now we are going to make a round fluff ball the direction of the fur it depends on the angle of your pin so if you do like this it'll go in that direction as if it's coming out of your pencil and if you move it like this it'll go in that direction so keep that in mind when creating your flow ball start here and then make a round up motion going up like this to create your hairy ball you can go over again you can tidy it up a little bit adjust the size of your fluff ball i feel like mine is a little bit big but we can easily fix that by going to the arrow tool here at the top and if you have it set to snapping right here and if you have it set to uniform then you can easily just use these handles to make it a little bit smaller and since we have snapping turned on it's very easy to get it centered again so you'll see that orange line and let's place it about here i'm going to make it just a little bit smaller and place it in the center and then you can just click the arrow again to get out of that menu now let's turn off that drawing guide that vertical line will just go to the wrench and then over here turn off the drawing guide but when you go to your layer menu you'll still see assisted right here under layer one which means that symmetry is still turned on let's turn it off by clicking the layer and then clicking drawing assist here for when we are going to work on this layer again in the future but now first we are going to create the eyes for our cute little monster so let's click the plus for a new layer and then for our brush we are going to use the monoline brush which you can find under calligraphy right here's the model line brush and for the color we are going to use this color right here the first one in the third row i have the opacity of the brush at a hundred percent and the size is at sixty percent and now let's draw a circle now for those of you who have been watching my channel for ages you already know how to do this but for every video i'll i'll keep explaining it to make a circle you can just draw a circle hold your pen in place and then tap one finger on the screen to turn it into a perfectly round circle and then to fill it with color you can just drag the circle into your circle now let's go ahead and add some shading and some texture to our eyeball we'll go to the layer menu then we'll click layer 2 and turn on alpha lock now our layer is locked and we can only paint on the eyeball our paint won't show up on the outside let's go back to the treasure chest brushes and we are going to use the is it grunge brush is it grunge i don't know for the color we are going to use this second color in the third row opacity of the brush is at a hundred percent and let's set the size to 20 and now we are going to add some shadow to the lower right side so we'll keep this side light and we'll make this area darker and now let's create a new layer on top we'll go to the layer menu again we'll click the plus for a new layer and we'll go back to the monoline brush under calligraphy and for the color we are going to use this color over here that's the fifth color in the third row now again let's draw a circle hold your pen in place tap one finger on the screen to turn it into a perfectly round circle and then drag in the color to fill it now let's go to the move tool and make sure that our circle is in the center of our other circle and you can see that it is by looking at the vertical and horizontal blue line and then just click the arrow again to get out of that menu now let's add some texture and some some color variation to that iris first let's turn on alpha lock on the layer so we won't be able to paint outside of that pink circle and now for the brush let's go back to the treasure chest brush pack and use the fine liner brush let's grab this lighter pink that fourth color in the third row let's set the opacity to a hundred percent and the size is at fifteen percent and now let's just make some lines going from the center to the outside as if you are making something like a hairy star or a weird starfish or a sea urchin just go from the center to the outside making these short strokes until you have something that looks a bit like this now i want to darken the outer edge a little bit let's use the dark noise brush for that and the darker darker pink color that's the sixth color in the third row let's set the opacity to a hundred percent and the size at ten percent and now let's just go over the outer edge darkening that up a little bit just like that and let's also add some sparkles let's go to the confetti glitter brush let's use the light pink the fourth color in the third row the opacity is at 95 percent and the size is at four percent and let's go over the lower half of the iris adding a little bit of light there then it's time for a pupil let's create a new layer on top by clicking the plus we'll go back to the model line brush under calligraphy and for the color we'll use this second color in the first row and now again let's create a circle hold your pen in place tap one finger on the screen and then fill the shape by dragging in the color and then we'll need to make sure that it's centered again so we'll click the arrow make sure you get that blue little cross and then click the arrow again now let's add some extra lighting to that eyeball let's go back to the layer that's layer two and for the brush we are going back to the treasure chest brush pack and use the dark noise brush first let's grab the blue over here the third color in the third row and let's add a blue light in that shadow area we'll go over the edge and add a like secondary light source there well it's not the source but the light source somewhere over here is casting a light in our shadow area adding some nice interest to our eyeball now let's go and grab this dark gray that's the second color in the third row and add a little bit of shadow just outside the iris here a little bit and then we'll grab the lighter gray that's the first color in the third row and let's make the brush just a little bit smaller let's go for five percent and go over the edge over here adding a slight light there now let's put a light on top we'll create a new layer for that on top of the other so first let's go to layer four then click the plus for a new layer and then let's go back to the monoline brush again under calligraphy and for the color we are going to use this last color in the third row and let's make a small circle hold your pen in place tap one finger on the screen and then fill the shape by dragging in the color now i just want a small little circle right here and now it's time to duplicate the entire eye we are going to do that by grouping these layers first you can do that by sliding to the right on each layer just don't include the hairy fuzzball layer now click group and you can close the group and now you can slide to the left and then click duplicate now let's go to the arrow tool over here and now we can move that new eye to the left to about here and now we are going to select both eyes by dragging to the right now we have both groups selected then we can go to the arrow tool again and now we can make sure that our eyes are centered and placed somewhere around here now i want to add an extra touch to these eyes let's open one of the groups let's check which one it is it's the right one let's go to layer two and let's add some veins to these eyes let's go to the treasure chest brush pack and use the veins brush and then let's use this red color over here that's the sixth color in the first row the opacity is set to 65 and the size is at three percent and now let's add some veins to these eyes [Music] and add these wobbly little veins because this little guy he's not getting enough sleep that's probably because he's trying to scare me at night i don't know so wobbly lines a bit like tree branches just all around the eyes try to vary them a little bit and then we'll go to the other eye we'll close this group open the other and then go to layer two over here and then we'll create these veins here now of course you could have done this before you duplicated the eye but then they will look well super similar and it will look less natural not as if this monster is super natural or well it is supernatural but not natural you know what i mean so continue until you have something that looks a bit like this and once you are happy with these eyes you can actually emerge all the layers that'll save you some space and keep things organized next we are going to add a mouth for our monster so he can eat let's click the plus for a new layer and we will still be using this red color but we will go back to the monoline brush under calligraphy now we are going to give him a big mouth i am imagining that it's a candy eating monster i don't know why but he just looks like a candy lover i guess that's why his eyes are so red and he's not getting sleepy because of the amount of sugar he's eating he's totally psyched all right let's give him thick red lips you can rotate your canvas like this to make the lips a bit thicker [Music] of course you can also switch to the eraser i would suggest clicking and holding it so it'll switch to the same brush you were using for drawing that will make it look almost natural it would be weird if you're going to erase with a soft brush or with a textured brush so you can adjust it a little bit and i think i think it's looking nice like this i want to fill the mouth with a dark color but i don't want to do it on this layer i want to do it on a different layer so first we will click this mouth layer then click reference then we'll click layer 2 and then we'll click the plus for a new layer and now we can fill that mouth shape with this dark color over here that second one in the first row just drag it in now look how happy he looks now let's let's go to layer 3 again we'll turn off reference we don't need that anymore let's add some teeth to this guy let's first click layer 4 and then click the plus for a new layer and for the color we are going to use this color over here that's the third color in the first row and now we are going to give him some of these round teeth keep some space in between and give this smile some teeth i like them rounded like this it makes him look friendly makes me less scared of course you can make him as creepy as you like he does look a bit like a maniac to be honest or just super excited now let's add some texture to these teeth let's click the layer then turn on alpha lock so we won't be painting outside of the shape and then let's go and grab the is it grunge brush again then we'll go and use this color over here the fourth color in the first row and now let's go over these teeth adding some base texture he's not brushing his teeth quite enough i'm not sure if he ever does it actually now let's switch to the even darker color that's the fifth color in the first row and let's use the dark noise brush again we're going to add a little shadow right here on top along the lips like this and over here now let's add some details to the lips let's go to the layer layer three let's click it and turn on alpha lock and then let's go and use the fine liner brush and for the color we are going to use this last color in the first row now we are going to add some lines to the lips we'll make a straight line in the center and then as we move to the outside we are going to create these rounded lines and they are like wrapping around the lips right here we are reversing making lines this way and then when you go to the center you make a straight line again and then go the other way around then over here it's straight again and then we'll move or bend the other way around again until it looks something like this now let's go back to the dark noise brush let's make it slightly bigger ten percent first let's add a shadow to the lower side add a shadow to the undersides of the lips the underside of the lower lip and the underside of the upper lip let's make multiple strokes slowly building that shadow up and i will go ahead and grab this color over here that's the last one in the third row to add a little bit of a highlight to the top area of the lips so the upper lip and the lower lip will get a little bit of light so you get something like this now let's go back to the body to our fluff ball let's click layer one and then make a new layer on top by clicking the plus click that new layer and turn on clipping mask now whatever we paint on this layer will only show up on our fuzzball body now let's go back to the short fur brush and for our color let's grab this color over here the fourth color and the second row now we are going to add some light to this side of the body now remember the position of your pen and how the fur is coming out let's also add a little bit of light over here and now for the shadow let's grab the second color in the second row now let's go over the lower side here again remember the position of your pen let's also add a little bit of shadow underneath the lips let's make the brush a little bit smaller we'll go for 20 underneath the lips for some extra shadow there then let's go over this top area of the eyes a little bit of shadow there it gives a little bit more depth and over here as well just along the edge and also underneath the eyes there will also be a little bit of shadow and this one now let's lower the opacity let's go to 80 percent and let's switch the color let's go to the third color in the second row let's make it a bit bigger the brush 35 percent and let's create an even darker shadow here just along the outside and now for an extra touch we'll do the same thing as we did for the eyes we'll add a blue glow a blue secondary light on the outer edge we'll use this color this time that's the fifth color in the second row and we'll just go along the outside of that fuzzy fur ball just the outer edge for a nice secondary light now it might not pop out a lot this way but wait till we change the background color let's click the background color in the layer menu and then go for this purple color now see how our monster is popping out from our canvas now all i want to do is add some wings to this little guy to help him move around let's create a new layer by clicking the plus and let's drag it underneath the body i don't want to be drawing two wings actually i just want to draw one and have the other one show up automatically so let's use the symmetry tool to make life easier let's click this new layer 7 and turn on drawing assist now you might not see a vertical line but still symmetry is there it's going to help us let's go and grab a different brush we are going to the calligraphy brushes and use the script brush and for the color let's use this color over here that's the fifth color in the third row the opacity of the brush is at a hundred percent and the size is at fifteen percent now let's start about here and make a wing shape like this that's a wing shape i guess and now let's make these arches going to the outside to make like a bat wing or a bad wing i don't know you you can decide let's zoom in a little bit to adjust it make these little pointy pointers something like this and of course you can switch to the eraser just click and hold it and then you can make it a bit more pointy just follow that arch like that i think it's looking good actually these wings are looking good on him now let's make a new layer on top let's again turn on drawing assist and let's also use clipping mask so whatever we draw here it'll only show up on those wings for the brush we are going back to the treasure chest brushes and use the fine liner brush for the color we will use the darker color that's the sixth color in the third row now we are going to follow that shape of the wing and we'll move the camera away at least that camera although i don't think you would have one lying there as well it's not necessary when following the tutorial so we'll follow that line and then we'll start here in that well it's like an elbow in the wing and we'll make a line to these pointy parts just like that now let's go back to layer seven let's click it and turn on alphalog because i want to add some texture and some lighting to the wings without going outside of the wings let's go and use the dark noise brush again and now let's make the brush a little bit bigger 25 and let's add a little bit of shadow on the inside of the wing and let's add a little bit of light to the top so we'll use that fourth color in the third row and let's make the brush a bit smaller again 10 and let's go over that top edge adding a little bit of light [Music] and let's also make use of that secondary light so let's grab this color over here that third color in the third row let's make the brush a little bit bigger again 20 percent now let's go over the lower edge adding a bit of that secondary light to really make it pop now finally to add to the idea that this little guy is floating i would like to add a little shadow to the bottom let's create a new layer for that first click layer 8 then click the plus for a new layer and let's drag it all the way to the bottom and then for the brush let's go to the airbrushing brushes and use the soft brush for the color we are going to use the second color in the first row now the opacity of the brush is at sixty-five percent and let's set the size to seven percent and now let's make a little oval underneath our guy let's make this oval shape a bit like this and then you can go to the magic wand here at the top the adjustments menu click gaussian blur then set it to layer and now you can slide your pen or your finger on the screen to blur this layer let's go for well let's say 24.7 and then just click the magic wand again and there you have your freaky cute little monster i hope you have enjoyed following this tutorial don't forget that you can share your work of course on social media if you share it on instagram then tag me in the image not just in the description that way i will be able to find it
