One of the most successful/effective builds I've ever seen him do. Seemed to work really well.

This is hilarious, but I think I'll stick to manual.

Why not just use a rubber band?

It's good to see Reddit commenters aversion to having any fun is alive and well in here.

If you buy 8 pieces you pay 350 a piece. If you buy 10 you pay 380 a piece.

Cool build, but I think he started to annoy everyone around him.

People in Japan tend to value their personal space and being left alone a lot more than here in the USA.

It's funny, but I think I'll look for a manual.

hi I'm William Osmond an American currently travelling abroad in Japan Tokyo Japan specifically Japan is a large island country in eastern Asia and Tokyo the capital of Japan is the most populated city in the world I guess pretty much every country is an island if you think about it we're in the myths of cherry blossom season let's go explore some of the wonders that Tokyo has to offer almost every single toilet you'll encounter is a bidet a bidet is a toilet that washes your butt for you if you've never used apathetic you should definitely try it and if you think toilet paper is better you're disgusting everything in Tokyo is efficient from cleaning up in the bathroom to punctual and frequent public transportation if you're thirsty grab a drink from one of the billions of vending machines need a snack stop by the 7-eleven on nearly every corner unlike 7-eleven in the states where the same three sausages have been rolling since the store opened in 1978 7-eleven in Japan is a fantastic resource for quick cheap and decent snack food this isn't sponsored it's actually that great as an American in Japan one of the most stressful situations you'll find yourself in is eating I'm talking about picking the food up off your plate and bringing it to your mouth these are called chopsticks is it two hands is it like an open palm and your fingers it's just I do not understand it but it feels like a clown at a circus wearing stilts on my fingers and I don't like it I almost starved the first day you know what how about I solved my problems with something I am good at computer nerd stuff all right it's off give me one second and I'm gonna show you really quick what I've been cooking up the past couple of days to solve our problem in fusion 360 i have modeled a pair of automatic chopstick for candle hair of chopsticks gears a nine gram servo a nine volt batteries it is 3d printer time [Music] this stuff has improved drastically since I bought my first 3d printer in 2013 completely wood that thing was terrible using this printer it gets almost magic how well it works one of the things that also has caused me to avoid 3d printing stuff is how long it does take relatively it's fast compared to making any this stuff by hand what what did that thing cost like less than $1000 my brand-new phone I have the s10 II cost the exact same as that printer that's crazy let's start piecing this thing together when the servo moves down it wraps the spring around the horn puts tension on the chopsticks so they can still wiggle but they're pinching pretty hard let's see if we can pick up a jelly bean yeah okay this works really well the servo moves down it releases the jelly bean and then when the servo closes it picks the jelly bean oh do you wanna grab a fork really quick thanks John I tried holding the fork up to the screen to get the right profile but I did not hold the fork up to the screen to get this profile it's not exactly the same as the fork and made a whoopsie uh we're going to cut the plastic down you like grinding the handle down what do you suggest cameraman John hi bring your Panda Express Tintin it's not video now we're at home we have come to a very authentic Japanese restaurant in this week's subscribe to we have come to a very prestigious authentic Japanese restaurant here in the States let's test the auto chopsticks out before we fly all the way back to Japan [Applause] [Music] this is how the auto chopsticks work a laser rangefinder measures the distance to the nearest object the Arduino checks if this object is within range of the chopsticks if within range the Arduino activates the servo which stretches the spring to pinch the food once the food is eaten and there is nothing in range of the sensor the servo opens the chopsticks let's head back to Japan to the Tianjin gookie fish market to come to a place called sushi tuning to [Music] Americans don't know how to use chopsticks very well to break in the auto chopsticks and hone my sushi eating skills I ordered the chef selection eight pieces the ten piece was kind of expensive just a little more practice and I'll be ready for a real challenge conveyor belt sushi I met up with my friends Joyce and Taipei who tricked me into wearing a crab hat I have put on the official Japanese sushi eating attire this is official right so where are your guys's hats what's the name of this place again named Udo honimaru sushi Namur oh um petite sunken very about sushi thank you very much what is this all it took was one bite for Joyce to realize I had no idea how to eat sushi properly you shouldn't eat them rising today really so you should actually put it back on site please so the fish and the rice are just the fish a lot of Americans just like so the rice into it yeah and you can't taste the fish in it how can I ask the efficient chef what do you thinks of the chopsticks oh no no oh come on hey guys I get a lot of question asking if I'm high in my videos and I feel like I have to address it right now because it looks pretty bad I think I'm jet-lagged I definitely don't do drugs you should eat your vegetables don't smoke them Sugoi yeah so go you yeah kono hoshi Sugoi I have no idea what they're saying right now but I asked Joyce to ask the chef if he thought the invention would make me irate if this will make me rich but in one more car Dimas what fatty math I'm pretty sure he said yes let's just assume that it means ask me how long do you used to take it how long to make it like three days and then Joyce tried to feed us some really weird sushi when you say it tastes special actually explain it so you should taste it and explain to like what is what is it like shellfish just like bubblegum this tastes like the tea we made and then we realized another foreigner sat down next to us and they clearly didn't know how to use chopsticks either so I helped him out oh no it's pretty quick you have to review with your mouth full of food oh no such better than I expected that is a first for the William Ozma channel and I would like a round of applause thank you thank you thank you thank you very much to Joyce and tempeh you will see them in a future video which is actually how we met them I think the final challenge is to try something a little more soupy how about some udon noodles konnichiwa konnichiwa ready got the konnichiwa konnichiwa [Music] let's end our tokyo chopstick adventure with a good old classic american snack the Chicken McNugget long not just dry in America I should've eaten sauce with it check out the Kickstarter live now [Music]
