all right today's video we've got a john deere glc excavator kind of uh big boy toy big enough to knock the building down though so let's do a review while we knock a building down here we go [Music] first cold start video ever all right so this excavated comparable to every other 20 ton excavator out there so you're wondering why do i want this one well it's not just about the depth and how fast it moves it's also what else do i need and this one is actually shorter than other 20 tons comparable to it meaning that you can float this around on a deck over rather than a drop deck so if you've got a dump truck or whatever and you got a deck over trailer behind that you're able to float this check all your local laws as to whether you're allowed to float it because it does vary between state to state and and township to township but this one being shorter is able to meet the maximum height requirements on a deck over trailer all right so the digging depth of this 210 is about 31 feet but the reach is about 32 feet and that's important if there's a giant burning barn in front of you and you want to feed that fire without burning your eyelashes up if i kind of start in the middle and just knock this down in you're the camera guy oh you want to run it i thought you said i got there on it nice antique skill saw there you're burying all of this scrap almost like the holy roof some of this stuff is worth saving but then you're like do i really want to do all that effort nice oh carburetors and intake manifolds some lights start to tape by grabbing whatever i thought i'd grab this really nice light vintage welding helmet put that on display kevin thinks about grabbing that big i was dropping on my toe i got my rubber boots on that's still good you should definitely look down outside just in case it might work you need this replacement drive shaft for your flamethrower actually that probably work pretty good one more one more stab at it these old vintage drills and stuff are probably pretty cool it comes with banner time oh you got tight oh yeah good times 15s are getting harder to come by frisbee with the kids yeah nice killer frisbee well they outline lawn darts so you got to come up with something new i think start knocking here and then you can cave the end wall in and then just kind of problem is it's taller than the hole right i don't think you're too too worried last excavator review you guys said you wanted to see it do more work today we're ripping up trees oh hit the windshield [Music] damn knocking down a barn here we go [Music] [Applause] if you're buying an excavator or renting an excavator of this size you should have some experience in an excavator already so the thing that you need to know is that it's basically like any other excavator you can change the controls if it's not the john deere controls that you like and overall it's a very comfortable cab the controls are easy to use on the crystal screen the engine is a 6.8 liter and puts out about 159 horse now if you have a tier 4 engine you're not going to get as good of fuel consumption as the non-emission stuff so again you definitely want to get one from canada just laughing did you know that in california this excavator could cause cancer let's take one big stabby stabby let's see how big of a reach it is i i gotta admit this is the first bars that i've ever done we've got three power modes we've got economy kind of an in the middle and then we've got power economy is all about the fuel savings so it's never been used because [Music] power more power right there power [Music] how big of a pile do you want all right let's go reckon so i have a cheap farmer who doesn't like to pay people to do this fun stuff so in the off season we just talk to core rentals and we get a rental machine and we get to play on our own they got pretty much anything there you'd ever want excavators rock trucks dozers all they have any axes anyway i'm not the most experienced excavator driver but between the odd day when we're ripping out trees or knocking down old buildings or putting another ditch in the mini x you put 10 or 20 hours a year on hold so not enough to get really good at it but it's still fun this machine is awesome so i do very much enjoy a machine with a thumb because if you're a little bit not pro it sure makes picking stuff up a lot easier [Music] lots of power full scoops swing nice and quick controls i almost want to go a bit faster but compared to the kubota the controls are just a bit slower but keep in mind it's a much bigger excavator too so the building down on itself it's on a nice concrete pad we're gonna start with a fire at the back i'm just bringing the piles nice and close no wind today so we're not worried about uh the wind going the wrong direction one for the fire two for blowing all these sheets of steel around but basically we want to bring the building down and then in a controlled way burn all the wood have the steel left and then bring that uh put that in the bin from dnr and then we've got one more eyesore away from the countryside because this iron is taken up in missouri you could be planting corn here you guys are walking around the outside um there's not a whole lot to see on this side we've got our radiators two nice big batteries and then just your air filter so you can reach everything from the ground which is really handy they said that these screens are smaller holes than the fins but when you poke holes in it then it allows the bigger parts to get through and will start clogging up your radiator so these you do kind of want to keep these in decent shape it does help other than that i think john deere claims that their radiators are better than everybody else's and their steel is stronger than everybody else's and their welds are better than everybody else's but i think that's just a sales tactic walking around the other side what we've got here is just one big panel as well which gives you access to all of your filters nice and easy to get out of the two pumps but the biggest claim to their fame is their round hydraulic tank they say that because it's not square they say the oil swirls much better there's no hot spots i don't know if that's actually really uh needed i i've never heard of your oil getting that hot because it's different temperatures because oil is getting stuck in the corners but it can't hurt right another big sales pitch from john deere they're the only ones that have the best strongest hydraulic tank and it's round all the filters are nice and easy to get at here but the engine will have to go and take a look up top okay when you knock your meter off it makes for an extension of the the grab handle for nice and easy climbing up top um you got your hoses and everything that are nicely secured and tied off real nice down below it is very important we've seen way back that a bunch of hoses were loose and a bulldozer was a case bulldozer and within like 200 hours all the rubbing uh destroyed a bunch of lines they had to replace every one of the lines but it looks like uh looks like these ones well you don't want to see this especially because the covering stopped here come on john dude if you're going to cover your hoses cover them all the way to the top cheap buggers all right so the engine is actually a 6.8 liter just your typical engine i don't think they've done any revolutionary designing that makes it better or more fuel efficient than any other engine but it is really easy to um get at here very open compared to other excavators where if you drop something then uh it's really hard to get at starters nice and easy to get at turbo is nice and easy to get at the exhaust the back there so what's interesting about this engine it's a 6.8 it's a 2014 model unit but even though it's made in the u.s because it's exported to canada it doesn't have the emissions stuff on it that you would expect to find it's a 20 2014 you would expect tier 4 or something like that but 6.8 liter common rail uh but no emission stuff not even an egr cooler that makes this a very desirable engine and an excavator to have just because that's one last thing to go wrong even to swap into a pickup truck a nice uh 6.8 liter what do you think kevin put this into your truck put an interrogator tailgater do you think he'll mind if we uh swap out hold on it comes up because there's no emission stuff there's tons of room to work at there's a pile of room to stand beside here like you could take the bottom cover off and stand up not that you'd have to but starter's nice and easy to get uh we got a small hydraulic pump which will run the fan um and the nice thing is i don't know they'll be able to reverse the flow too to push the the dirt out hopefully they did that i don't see why they wouldn't and then your exhaust and your turbo everything is really nice and accessible uh they left a lot of room back here which makes guys like me pretty happy you can almost do an end frame right where it is very uh desirable to have even if you're i don't know if you're from the states you might want to import one from canada again here we go cool all right cab super comfortable lots of space i'm six foot five and uh no issues with my legs the joystick controls are what you'd expect to find in an excavator we've got heated seats which is a really nice option not everybody has a giant barn burning behind them to keep them warm so the heated seats are really nice you can cancel your uh noise control and other than just a couple small simple toggle switches everything's done through the crystal screen so even your radio on that is done through your screen it's got a backup camera which is super handy look there's a barn burning in the background and then on top of that it's a lot more fine control so you can control how much flow goes to your hoe and your attachments we can speed up and slow down the thumb if you've got different attachments for your auxiliaries breaker bars whatever you want to put on there there's a lot of different controls through your main menu here so your air conditioner your work mode we can go in and we can change our bucket our thumb our breaker breaker two your polarizer it's got some preset stuff like your thumb it'll be 56 gallons a minute at 1800 rpm but then you can change that through this screen pretty generic inside cab according to john deere it's the best welds and the best steel so that's always nice to know kevin's back he's going to run it we're slowly going to feed the wood into the pile there was a lot of plastic barrels up on the second floor but it was unsafe to grab them basically we do grab as much as we can out of the pile put it off to the side all the steel goes to vnr for scrap all the wood gets burnt everything that doesn't burn like steel we'll go to vnr after that and then clean up the site one more ugly unsafe barn down in the countryside leaves room for about an acre of extra corn um that's about it for this review kevin's gonna keep an eye on the fire um we're done for the day here if you've got anything like this if you enjoy these reviews definitely comment down below um and as we see the equipment here coming through our daily lives we'll do a recording of it thanks anthony's excavating and core rentals for uh an ontario agri everyone's a division of another but great guys they got lots of stuff to rent um and i think we'll be doing a review on a dozer if we can get in one of those when we're pushing everything um leveling all this ground so if you're not filthy you're not rich get out there have some fun you know it's always easier to do come over here yeah just break the bottom man but don't accidentally pull the sparker as you're jamming the rag into the cockpit what kevin does with his free device t-shirts makes all the fellas maybe speak a little bit of russian it'll help
