piece of change like you know bro i ain't doing nothing weird as long as this is in the coding range i'm good bro you know so that's what it is uh but let me see by the way anybody that's in here uh that wants to come through we on the discord man you already know what we do out here uh let me see i'll scream you live on something else yeah we live right now are we laughing we live on youtube got a job with a vgs developer job now he hyped he hyped right now that's a scam yeah what's going on man how are you doing we going we got knocked out knox is in here like yo like he got you a job bro what's going on [Laughter] the first time he had a computer i gave him his first computer [Laughter] i told him my view okay [Laughter] yeah man it's crazy nah man yeah i was um i got a position in may doing uh but it's crazy because they hired me for react it was it's it's like a it's a react goal position uh-huh but when i went when i got on the job everything was written in view oh okay so it's like so yeah yeah in the process of migrating or it was like y'all got to maintain that section man i don't know essentially they they're getting some mock-ups to to redo the website well the tool that we're working on is like a cms okay um so we're building a set of tooling that'll help other departments modify the company website so right now everything is rendered from the back end and view so everything is rendered based off the data so essentially view is just the uh all the components that are written in view are fed data from the server and then all everything's rendered from that okay not bad but i don't know nothing about you that's in um in ohio where was it cincinnati you from right cincinnati nah man i'm in i'm in i'm in middletown man bucks okay okay milwaukee milwaukee all right and that's over there or this is like a remote job another state uh no it's it's in milwaukee but i'm remote okay i'm not going back into the office okay nah that's good that's i was just wondering to see how you know how's it going over there for people in milwaukee you know if you know it's crazy because i've had a lot of recruiters hit me up um before i got this job i had turned down like five positions no cap yeah you seem like a picky ass dude like yo because i'm like there's times i'll be like yo what when it'll be like i think you had another job before or another position and it's like yo you was out of there i'm like yo like your boy geek he geeking or what like like yo he'll go in like yo i'm not feeling this spot i'm out of here yeah man i it gotta have a good um a mix of good money culture flexibility yeah if i don't have those three things it's a non-starter yeah yeah pressing the eject button quick like yo get me out of here yo man for real for real yeah man nadas what's up man i think you're one of the brightest dudes in the community i think you you know it wasn't only a matter of time that you found the place that you was happy and you was doing your own thing you know so i'm happy for you yeah i'll probably be here for as long as i need to be because my goals are far greater than just working and staying at a company yeah yeah no of course so you gotta grow but it's great to stabilize your income yeah you gotta start somewhere man that's what i tell people all the time you gotta start somewhere and you gotta uh build yourself up and there's nothing wrong with with you know working for somebody until you get your ideas to where you wanted to get them you know and you can make your bread you know sometimes people want to want to have success right away and they want to get in the game as as bosses is like nah you got to work bro we all had to do it and then we use those companies you know we give them our services and we use the income that they provide to us so we could grow in other you know other ideas and and you know things that we do on our own side you know but yeah oh yeah definitely somebody got gotta your your audio man is driving me crazy i think it's your geek your audio yeah whenever you're gonna talk turn it on whenever you're not gonna talk you gotta cut it it's just because it's like a like there's like some sound in the background i don't know what it is if it's a fan or something there's something on right now that's just driving me crazy um let me see shout out to everybody that's in here to start answering some questions in the community reading through here uh yes sir 2x live uh what's up yamamoto says uh what's the word marina says hello what up marina um coder chris yo yo yo ai says pause [Laughter] listen man when i say i'll do anything for some money like yo i'm talking about coding wise like i don't care i don't care what language it is i don't care what framework i don't care what exactly is it that i'm doing as long as it makes bread i look at this just it's time if i'm gonna invest my time and i could get paid very well [ __ ] i don't care what it is bring me uh what is it fortran bring me pearl i'll do it i don't care um let me see grinding though cam perry says uh let me see jonas gusman says how much java javascript should we know before react you know before i used to say to get very comfortable with javascript before you get into react but now as like i have more time with react over the years i think you could jump on react even early on because you're using javascript with react like you're not learning nothing weird you're not learning nothing completely different uh but at least i would say get comfortable with manipulating the dom like finding an element on the dom then from there manipulating it changing the styles changing the background changing you know how it it shows up on a page uh you know you know just the normal things like just get comfortable with the dom and how to manipulate it and then from there i will say getting comfortable with the methods that like arrays have and that's pretty much it like everything else you're gonna learn it will react as you're building things so i think you know before i would say oh man you gotta just be very very comfortable but now i would say [ __ ] like you could be like 25 in with javascript and then try react and and learn as you go you know what i'm saying as you're learning react you could learn as you go so uh that's what i say uh let me say anyone's run into recruiters andrew booster says anyone run into recruiters with vague job requirements lately bro that's normal welcome to the community like this there's gonna be recruiters asking for dumb [ __ ] all the time like that's normal that's not out of the norm like dude it's like yo how many of you guys have gotten dumb questions from recruiters everybody's going to be like yeah like those guys they don't code they're not really developers they're like some random guy or random girl that had a liberal arts degree and now they end up in the office and they say hey you want to be calling people to recruit them into this type of jobs you think you could do that they're like yeah sure i could do it i could use excel like they're not they're not like just the brightest people that you could think of like they're just jumping in there okay um let me see what else do paying customers get access to discord yes you get access to the discord and the discord by the way you you get access to it regardless i think the the link is in the description if nobody i don't know does anybody have the link to the to the discord just in case um i'll give it to him why not you know like that he's like yo what's the discord link let me see if i can find it it should be there let's see twitch twitter i guess now it's not there so so we gotta we got to give it to you hold on i'll put it right here on the discord let me see i don't even know the link for it i just i always go to my own website and i just go to um click on old courses then i click on the chat and then from there i get the invite and then here you go let me put it right here in the chat room for you this is a quick give me one second coding face it's live there's people right now losing their mind like i didn't get the notification [Laughter] yo look man if you love this channel and you want to be notified don't expect youtube to notify you you got to be active you got to go check the youtube at least once an hour right and just check if if joe's live he's live if he's not live it is what it is you you'll catch the next one you know uh but yeah man let me see if i put it right here on the description of this matter of fact it is there bro the discord link is right in the description of this video bro this live stream it's there bro uh let me see so going in through here uh right now what do pain customers get access to is this girl okay we answer that is this public yes it's public everyone has access andrew uh zach says joe what big companies have you gotten people into i don't say i gotten people into anywhere right uh we have students that they've gotten themselves in there okay because all i can do is provide the courses but i don't bring people into any company i don't bring people into any opportunities they put themselves in there i teach them the skills right and they also use other platforms or other instructors or other books just like anybody else right everybody uses a whole bunch of resources you know a lot of people give me credit to their success i don't take nobody's credit i come in and say hey man you did that you busted your ass uh but i have a lot of people that currently right now working you know uh paypal um you know nasa uh fedex uh netflix um you know sony universal music group um we've had a lot and then we're not even going into like the zappos the the zara like companies that's like you know regular companies that are considered like regular companies they're not tech companies but plenty of people work at a whole bunch of major companies that you know that we're not even gonna name if we come here and be like yo every student that has come through codingphase.com well they work here now and work here and work i don't do that you know what i mean people always ask me joe why don't you do like testimonials and i want to sell my [ __ ] on my own i don't want to use other people's success because at the end of the day one thing that i tell people is i can give you the product i can teach you how to code i can get you into the game but if i come in here and i start bullshitting you and be like well i got them there now that's what boot camps do right there's guys that go to boot camps and they didn't learn [ __ ] that they got a job you know the things that they got a job for and the boot camps were like whoa look at a little billy he's working at xyz.com those guys the skills that they got that got them into that job had nothing to do with that that boot camp right so i never want to be doing that at all um i do tell people like hey companies that uh some of my students work at right um and that's it but i don't take credit for anything you know i think people they they work hard and they do what i did right it's like me right like if there was if people wanted to take credit for me you know i could be on on [ __ ] uh coke academy team treehouse uh uh pluralsight like all these platforms could be like look at us we got joe there look joe works for companies now he's he got his own platform you gotta say like all these companies will come in and be like yo take credit for my hard work so at the end of the day i know how it is when you are a self-taught developer you're using all these platforms and all these courses as tools to get you there but since i know how that feel i don't want to be using my students and be like yo parade them in front of people like well look what i can do it's like nah bro you know what i can do that's if they work in there and they vouch for this [ __ ] you know what we do okay i don't want to parade them around um let me see uh let me see being really good with javascript will help learn and react but it's not necessary you just need to know the basics yep if you youtube don't notify me disco will uh says she said for some jobs they could consider education where a combination of experience and mention they expect a master's degree at that point i don't know what you guys are talking about um emma see david he says new jersey unemployment officers still use kobo every week there's a problem with the root there is funny yo uh david he says government so outdated it's true the government is outdated that's a fact uh let me see what else terrell jones says yeah i've seen software engineer positions at walmart didn't even think of that yeah there's a lot of companies this is the thing a lot of people come in and they think that they have to apply to like i don't know to like uh one of those tech companies all the time and that's the only places that is gonna hire them right but the truth is that there's plenty of companies that's gonna hire you bro let me turn off this light real quick hold on it's making this this room freaking hot and at the same time the lights too too bright whoa this camera so so yeah let me see i'm gonna say uh but yeah so like i was saying government is always outdated every single um you know website even like unemployment for any website of any service of like any state or anything like you go to a dmv you you look at the the [ __ ] what's the name of this app um the similar web right and you go in there and be like yo hold on let me find out what they built this [ __ ] on and that just says like some random language that you've never heard of in your life you're like hold on they're using this [ __ ] this all that [ __ ] like no wonder this [ __ ] don't work right anyways let me go back into the discord see who's in here see if we got some new peoples what's good guys can you guys hear me yeah okay nice nice nice nice so what's good man who's in here anybody want to talk anyone i want to say something update the people's what you up to i came here to say uh just uh uh thank you for the for the um i i've said this already to you in the mail but about a month ago uh what holiday was it was it the veteran's day i had bought the html email package for the 500 when you had it at a discount and i didn't realize you had a discount but you you were generous enough to give me the difference back yeah yeah so i want to thank you for that yeah i got you so i'm going through the course right now and i'm going through the um the html email section portion of it and so i'm enjoying it so far one thing that i did did learn new was the different types of resources such as the the campaignmonitor.com that you showed in the major resources that you will need um that's not something that i would need to concern myself with if say i was just making a portfolio website right that's just html email stuff like the different sizing concerns with css on different applications well if i'm i'm not mistaken like for you're talking about the campaign monitor the the website link that i gave you guys where it shows all the different tags that you can use is that the one you're talking about yeah well that that is important right so to make html emails responsive so there's going to be certain different um email clients that won't allow you to use certain things so you should have that page as a reference so like let's say for example you're trying to to use i don't know um let's just say you're trying to use a tag right and that tag might work on gmail it might also work on the aol mailer but it won't work on outlook so you gotta keep keep track of that and say okay cool if i'm gonna make this responsive emails right i want to test for all these different platforms right and maybe later on in the course i go in and i show you how to do the testing and see how it looks on all the different platforms uh but that's something that you're gonna notice you're gonna be like damn this works here on gmail and it works on aol but it doesn't work on outlook and it doesn't work on on the ios you know mailer so that's something that you got to keep track of you know it's just part of the you know part of the job yeah for sure uh yeah i i wish i had discovered you earlier because um i actually attended lambda school yeah and i graduated from it but i was not uh happy with it in the end personally i thought it was just way too much information to remember so uh so far i'm enjoying the course that you're uh showing off the web developer developer starter kit for gulp that was a bit trickier but i already know how to do like the npm stuff already do we need to know the webpack and babel and gulp and all that sort for html email jobs is that important no not really it's just there's tools that's already prepared for you right like this is more like if you want to continue growing later on like uh as a front-end developer like you know say i want to become a front-end engineer and you want to continue with that then yeah you might want to con you know go and learn those things um but to be a html email developer you don't need that html email developer uh what you learn more is the platforms like let's say for example um once you learn how to do html emails responsive right when you go to these jobs and you get hired they're going to be using some type of platform so for me i use convertkit right which is a company that allows me to send out emails right now some companies might be using salesforce so once you you get the job right you they're gonna show you what platform they're actually using you know and then from there you go in and you're you might have like templates already pre-made for you where you have to edit them or you might have to tweak them and make them you know add extra sections to it so that's what you're gonna be doing mostly as a html email developer right but then it's it's a lot about testing testing how how does something look testing how does something you know work on ios does it work on the gmail uh app you know it's like it's like different things that you're gonna be doing but it's mostly testing like once you get you know comfortable with the html css side of things it's really more about learning platforms and learning other skills besides just programming it's like stuff that you only use at the job like you know that's why most people won't teach those things online because you know they how can i say it it's like those are things that you only learn at the job that's like the you know the perfect way to explain it you know um but you know as far as like what packing and all of that you like you don't worry about that you don't need to be an expert with webpack or even an expert with javascript you know uh okay i mean you pretty much lay everything out on your um on your video titled everything you need to know to become an html um developer right okay yeah so all right it's it's not that hard um my advice is look you know have you started looking into jobs as far as like the the positions right so i did i did check out indeed yeah okay cool so if even right now maybe i'll do this [ __ ] live i got time today i i want to go in here and and look at this okay so i'm looking up right now okay so if we look right here i don't know if people can see this on youtube or not let me see if i could put this right here give me one second see if it loads i can see the indeed page right now okay all right cool so this is like a job position from you know a company pam foster uh senior html email developer this is [ __ ] like ain't nobody a senior in html emails there's gonna be guys that's been doing it for like five years but this is not a senior position this is more like hey they're looking for somebody that can do the job and if you can demonstrate that you can do the job you're gonna get the job it's that simple okay um but again okay we start looking at the things that they're looking for develop and modify responsive html email campaigns right html css uh set up dynamic content elements to create personalized emails at scale so this right here what it's telling you is let me see if i open up my convertkit so i can show you let's say you're working at penn foster right they're gonna have templates already pre-built for their emails right or they could have new templates that are made with you know design it could be on figma photoshop and they're going to give you the images for those design and they're going to tell you hey we need you to build this this emails for us okay by let's say thursday right or maybe they have a sale for july 4th or black friday so now you're gonna take those images okay make it into uh a template right if they don't have it yet and then from there each section is going to have an area where it says this is where the name of the person goes this is where uh their their state goes this is where uh the link that is supposed to be for people that is coming from new york or new jersey or this is where the link is supposed to show up for people that's coming in from florida so it's just about you know looking at what they're giving you and then translating it into code okay that's what they're expecting you to do um trying to load up my templates from convertkit just so you could have an idea so i got it on the other the other window let me see if i could open it up uh email templates okay here we go all right so okay so just to give you like a preview so this is convertkit right so right here you have all of your html css inside of this this file right um but if you look right here we have this this tags here or this this properties are like curly brackets like curly curly and then it says unsubscribe url and that will basically create a link for the unsubscribe url that's for people to unsubscribe from the email list right and you have right here different things like hey this is where the message content goes this is where the address goes this is the unsubscribe link pretty much every platform looks exactly the same as this okay now they all have their different you know things that you have to you know get used to it could be like say uh say something like um like grub would not grow up um hubspot hubspot has a certain way of doing things um salesforce has another way of doing things but this is pretty much how it looks it's like you have a place where you have a title for for the subject and then from there you have all your html css and then from there what you want to do is once you have your html css you want to put comments and you say okay this is where the unsubscribe link is going to go so once you know because right now this email is so small like you you could find this pretty simple but if you're building a responsive email that's very complex you just find it with control f and say um wherever you put in that comment and say unsubscribe right you find it unsubscribe and then from there you take that that tag and that's where it's going to generate the the html sorry not the html the the anchor link or the the link url for that specific uh section or maybe just the message or the the subject etc right um again that's what they mean when they're talking about set setting up dynamic contact we kind of go over that inside of the course too so uh i still haven't gone through it entirely yeah so you're gonna get all of that again qa and troubleshoot email campaigns this is basically you're responsible to test your emails i don't know if you saw the other day somebody from hbo max they sent out an email for you know the users of hbo max and it was like a error that they did so let's say hbo max email add no email error i think they still have it okay says an intern at hbo max mistakenly sent a test email to subscribers they responded with stories of their own mishaps right so the email said integration test email so this email is supposed to be a test that you're sending to yourself and this person what they did was they actually send it to the live uh audience the live [ __ ] uh email list so this is the type of [ __ ] that you cannot do i had a job right so that's that's probably fire yeah most likely you know they all made fun of it oh yeah he's a he's okay he's not okay he's out of there they took him out quick because that's a big [ __ ] up so um this is what they they want you to do it's like attention to detail you're gonna be testing that make sure that every link every email all the images are loading right your everything needs to work perfectly okay so because once a email is sent out it's sent out there's no control z command z you can't undo okay so this is one of the things that you're going to be doing um you see here data and list management pulling data data validation lists imports maintaining updating lists so they want you to be able to bring in list you know email lists to to you know to the service uh like let's say for example when somebody comes to codingface.com we have a pop-up that shows up for them and every single day it keeps adding up okay so this is just for for this year we got like 14 000 people that have added their emails to it right some people have unsubscribe right and the best thing is when people do unsubscribe because when they unsubscribe that means that we don't want them to be on that list because we pay for how many people is inside of our email list okay so again that's the service that we use but the companies you're gonna be working for they're gonna be uh bringing in you know a whole bunch of different lists they could have like landing pages they could have ads on facebook right and they're capturing the emails of those potential leads or potential clients or potential customers and your job is to integrate it back into the system it could be convertkit it could be salesforce and they say okay here's a csv with 55 000 emails import them and that's it that's what you're doing you know it's like uh again partner with relevant business stakeholders to understand objectives so this is like [ __ ] whenever they're gonna do a campaign they're gonna do a meeting it's like office work there's a meeting they say hey guys uh black friday is the biggest you know deal for us can we send our email every three four hours okay and your job is to make sure that those emails get sent out properly and scheduled uh the proper way right and you're communicating with the designers you're communicating with the marketing team okay then you have this thing end-to-end campaign management create execute deliver analyze data driven dynamic highly targeted emails okay so they want you to understand that can this emails get to the people right so i'll give you an example like here okay uh 14 000 okay average open is 24 so if i have 14 000 on average no matter what there's always going to be a 25 of people that always open the the email average click rate how many people actually might click on the links right it'll be like three three percent out of that right email sent half a million okay today how many new subscribers ten so you as the html email developer you're going to know about all of this data you're going to know about all of this information me i'm a small company right so i have you know small numbers when you're working with a big brand or you're working with a big agency that company that they're working for they might have you know a hundred thousand emails in one month and you want to keep track of all of those things to see okay how does how does uh our email you know convert is it bringing more people is it not bringing more people your job as a the developer you're not writing the emails you're not designing the emails you're just making sure that it works and that technically it's working on every single email client that's out there okay uh again going through here partner with relevant business stakeholders we went through that uh this we went through this analyze and compile key learning campaigns in order to optimize existing new communications this is [ __ ] they just added that [ __ ] to add it uh ability to take marketing ideas from uh conception phase and then you know build the whole thing so if they come up with an idea for a uh email can you build it right the job of the developer is really to just build whatever people put in front of you but there's gonna be times that there's things that's technically not possible sometimes somebody might say well can we have a you know an animation with javascript inside of the email that's when you say no sir we can't do that we can't send javascript through the email okay we can't [ __ ] send no scripts through the email somebody you know what i mean like you can't do those type of animations so pretty much that's that's about it as far as i collaborate right this is the things that you're going to be doing collaborating between the marketing team the designers okay apply and test and learn approach of both campaign management so it's just office this is like a competition from you know a company pam foster uh senior html email developer this is [ __ ] like ain't nobody a senior hey hey brian you got to meet up no hey yeah that's cool yeah so so what i'm saying with this is like you know as far as like uh you know you look at the job description i'm pretty sure once you do the course you're gonna be able to do all of those things it's office work right um and technically you're gonna be able to do it everything that they're gonna put in front of you because that's what we we teach but it's a it's a simple thing right like you know sometimes people say oh i want to become a software engineer and learn all of those things maybe that's the route for you but maybe somebody else like yourself you might say well you know maybe i took that route and i wasn't interested in that maybe i liked this route of becoming an html email developer maybe you can learn more about marketing and learn about you know creating campaigns and making sure that there's high conversions on the emails like this is [ __ ] that you know might be more valuable to you and you could actually do it and and it's going to be easier for you right so as far as that like i think you got it bro like you're good to go hey joe can i um ask a question real quick bro go ahead go ahead oh we were you done uh ceridian i didn't know if y'all were y'all were done with you oh no i was just no i wasn't gonna add any anything worse um i think i've taken up enough time so no it's all good hey joe salute to you man everything you do man it's dope on here man i appreciate it i i just had one question for you man um so a while ago i remember you had said about you know you recommend getting a job first before you do a freelancing mm-hmm uh so i want to ask you that and as follow-up question these do you still kind of you know have that same mindset like you still kind of think the thing is it's like this um as far as if you can't mute your mic real quick yeah thank you um what i will say is like this the reason why i tell people to go and get a job first because it's consistent income right everybody that's here knows how to code right and and you can say okay i took a couple of courses i learned at codingface.com technically you're good technically you can do whatever somebody can give you but now when you're freelancing the question is can you market yourself can you build a brand around yourself can you bring clients to you if you can do that [ __ ] you don't need to go and work for anybody right it'll be to your benefit because you're gonna learn things from other people and learn from that business and they're paying you guaranteed money but if you say [ __ ] i know how to code i'm already building you know applications on my own i can do this for other people that i know go for it you know like i'm not telling you don't do it don't ever do it but what i want people to understand is that when you work for a company it's like free training and you're getting paid for it you're gonna say it's a guaranteed income when you come in and somebody says well joe i got a one week you know before i quit my job i'm about to quit my job and i'm gonna spend the next two three months learning how to code at your website and they say okay i'm gonna go super hard cool in two months they're gonna be very comfortable with html css and the basics of javascript and maybe they'll even be pretty high with some react right but at the same time how are they going to find clients how are they going to find you know those opportunities some people don't know how to do that so i don't want them to just be like well let me go and try to and do this i don't got no job i got three months of savings but let me go and try to do it on my own without ever working for nobody it's not gonna be easy there's people that's been in the game for five ten years in the game and are like top developers and they don't even know how to bring a client in like that's that's a different type of skill and also too is what's in your network you know i know people that they go to a church where there's a lot of business owners you know what in that church you can network right there's people that go into yoga and there's freaking a bunch of girls in there all their husbands they got businesses right now they could network right but if you know them well the position that you're in you don't have that resource of networking or people that have positions that they could you know hire you as a contractor hire you as a on a regular gig or whatever or even if you're not comfortable putting yourself out there on the internet you know reaching out to people on on linkedin reaching out to people on twitter reaching out to people on on fiverr upwork or you know portraying that hey i'm a pro but i've never worked for anybody right like it's hard for somebody to you know to get their first clients it's more easier for them to actually get a job so that's what i say you know i'm not saying don't do freelancing i just say you gotta know like what position you're in if you're gonna get into freelancing you're gonna say because freelancing is not a guaranteed income like you get a guaranteed income once you're you have a a nice like track record you know there's guys right now that's on fiber that two three years ago everybody was [ __ ] on fire was ah [ __ ] fiber they're doing work for five dollars ten dollars but you know what those guys that put in that work for those five ten dollars now they have 500 reviews look at what fiber is now people are jumping on fiber they see youtubers talk about hey i went to fiverr i paid a hundred dollars for a website i paid five dollars for a website and i paid 500 for a website look at the difference between all the different type of websites and you know what which one is the best one the one that people pay 500 so now with that it's like they're training society to go into fiber and um and hire people through there but again the people that didn't believe in the platform the people that didn't put in the work or didn't have the luxury to put into work they're not going to get those benefits to be catching in on those those clients you get on saying or are not bringing in traffic to their websites um to be able to get higher so that's the type of [ __ ] that you got to think about you know are you going to be bringing in clients or or not because if you're not then get a job it's easier for you to get a job so that's what i said you know i appreciate that bro and and the last thing i was just saying do you think it's uh common for uh new program developers to get a remote job first because that kind of always has corona buyers yeah now yeah before no before for you to get a remote job you got to be experienced and you got to be either expert at what you do or you have a lot of you know a lot of things going on for yourself maybe a really good college degree some and even with a really good college degree like probably it was more about experience like what companies have you worked for what have you done what have you done that can prove that you can do this [ __ ] on your own at home because companies and business owners are not as trusting as people think like oh i'm just gonna spend my money hire somebody remote you either you could take a hit the this is the mentality of the business owner and you could say as a business owner i'll hire a developer in india for you know ten dollars twenty dollars an hour it won't hurt me right if the person is not doing all the work that they're supposed to if they're taking two days to do something that was supposed to take a day [ __ ] i'm only paying ten dollars twenty dollars an hour but when it comes to a developer here in the us where you gotta pay for benefits where you gotta pay you know top dollar to get some good people in now i'm spending real money so i want real results and before people didn't think that people were able to do this right to be responsible because at the end of the day when you're at home there's a lot of distractions that could happen you could be watching netflix i've seen people that they're watching youtube while coding and they're like talking about hey man i'm at work right now and now me as a business owner i'm like yeah i know people [ __ ] around right there's people that's working right now full-time remotely and instead of them shutting down their youtube their world star hip-hop their twitter i see them all the time and even like yo there's people that big like quote-unquote you know developers on on on like you know on companies and they're constantly on twitter and i'm like thinking in my hand like yo me as a business owner i'll be like yo what you're doing on my time right so a business owner is actually losing money by having people work remotely but right now because of coronavirus now the world you know it's shifted right a lot of people don't want to work uh in the office no more um people say hey if we could do it from home i want to keep it from home okay so now as a business owner now you're getting put against the wall you're like damn i'm about to lose my best talent to my competitors because my competitors they're willing to take the risk to hire somebody and keep them remote because they're gonna get the talent and then now me as the business owner i gotta i gotta keep those guys working remote now because if now they're gonna go to my competitors so you know that's how it is but you know before it wasn't as easy as as now like now everybody just dudes that don't have never worked in their lives and they got a remote job as the first job you would have never seen that before because to be honest so it's easier than ever now yeah hell yeah they giving that [ __ ] away to everybody because at the end of the day you know they trying to attract talent into their company but also too some companies have said you know what we can see that there's a benefit people can work from home we don't got to go and have a huge you know office or anything like that we save money on that um and at the same time you know hopefully fingers crossed they do their work but now what they do is they do a [ __ ] meeting every hour you know like people that that work remotely they know what i'm talking about they [ __ ] they do meetings all the time and hitting people up in some applications i i've seen this from some people where they're taking snapshots of your screen every five minutes so you know and i think that's something that's going to come to to most companies like yo there's going to be a computer that's for you for for you to do your work and it's going to take a screenshot of your screen every five minutes uh all i hope is that um and when [ __ ] like that starts to happen i'm no longer working in this industry i'm working for myself yeah but at the same time you can't you can't be mad at it because the truth is that people are paying for for your your service and if you're [ __ ] around there's people that be [ __ ] around all the time and you know not doing their work it's like i look on twitter and i'm like yo how many developers are on twitter 24 7 and i'm like yo when do these people work like you still be on my twitter and like kind of like take like um you could take like you know like five minute breaks like here and there in between working yeah nah but this uh to me as a business loan i'm like nah bro like if i'm paying you for this time i'm not paying you for you to be on your twitter i'm not paying you for you on facebook like that's a that's a fact but check this out because i i i want to tell you what hey i appreciate it bro i'm gonna go ahead and dip out man i appreciate y'all man let me chime in real quick all right go ahead so check this out the average worker and you guys can google this the average worker maybe works around 12 hours of puts in about 12 hours of productive time a week at a job yeah about 12 hours out of 40. so all right so let's look at that in the day normally when you would go into the office most of your time would be eaten up by meetings um what i call a cooler talk cubicle talk going to the bathroom you're still going to be texting looking at amazon stuff you're going to be throwing stuff in your cart on amazon twittering you know what i mean that stuff was happening in the office anyway yeah right so the main thing that i think um with regard to being productive at work is i think it should as a i know that you're you're paying people especially if you're paying somebody hourly i can understand that but we have to understand that most of the work that people are being productive they're really only being productive maybe two hours out the day the rest of the day they're not necessarily being productive so uh yeah i don't think that that sounds crazy if people oh that to me i think that's that's crazy if people are only being productive two hours of the day then you're losing money to just have people to be just be there because i could tell you when i'm working at a company out of you know eight hours of work sometimes nine hours i'm probably productive five hours out of those shits if people are doing two hours that sounds crazy you're gonna say like well it i yeah it depends on what you're doing right so when i was when when i was uh i was working um two jobs not too long ago i worked a full-time contract and i worked full-time salary position i was able to do both and be productive at both jobs because the work really like normally when you're going to when you go into work as a and you're doing software engineering development whatever you want to call it when you're doing that you're going to be using some sort of agile methodology you're probably going to be in jira most of the time and you're going to have tickets that you're going to need to um take care of obviously those things are going to be weighted differently with regard to what you're doing really all that matters is that are you going in there and are you solving those issues if you're solving those issues in a timely fashion that's all they care about if you're if you're going in there if you can solve something that would take let's say developer a can solve that solve an issue in five hours but developer b can solve it in two developer c might take a day and a half right those are just different skill levels depending on who's doing it but if you can solve that that thing quicker than developer a right they don't they don't really care and i i personally i talk to um i'm giving y'all a game right now like if when you go into the when you're going to go into corporate america like and you're a developer and you're working remote a lot of times man people are not going to be checking on you like that what they care about is are you solving those issues and are you being timely with with regard to the things that you're responsible for if you're going in there and just taking you like joe said two days to solve something that realistically should only take you half a day then that's when they're gonna start raising their eyebrow at you and really paying more attention to you and micromanaging you but if you're going there being responsible if you get stuck you ask for help doing your research you're getting stuff solved they're not gonna mess with you and you can for the most part you'll have like you'll find yourself having four hours of down time a day and what i was doing before i picked up my second job i would just spend that time i would you know spend that time studying and stuff or working on my own stuff but then uh i was like let me pick up the second job real quick let me see if i can if i can handle it and i could yeah so now i think look i think remote work if i was going back to work now at a company i will only do remote work that's for sure right you're more happier but what i was saying is like i think as a business owner you know psychologically you think okay if people are in the office they'll do the work if they're not in the office right right right before that's the the mindset now people have proven that yo people can do their work so you know it's like well i was answering the question from the guy he's asking like yo is it easier now to get a job remotely i'm like hell yeah because now it's been proven okay but business owners they didn't really want to do that and some of them still don't want to do that they don't want to have people just work remotely just for the hell of it right um but at the end of the day if you can do your job you can do your job no matter where it is there's people that's going to be [ __ ] around in the office or out the office it doesn't matter and those people are going to get fired the people that can do their work you know they're going to do it at work wherever they're at right they're going to be responsible just like you said you know there's times that you're going to have a a task that could have taken you two days and if you knocked it out in one day you work hard that whole day now you could kind of chill the next day you could relax a little bit right right right right like i was having this discussion too because we did a um we did a uh a little survey or whatnot they were trying to gauge whether or not people would be interested in going back to the office or and all that but we were having like a little discussion uh we were in like a a team meeting and we were doing it so uh there was like oh yeah you know what do you guys think about going back into office i'm i'm straight up i'm like i'm not going back into the office so it is what like if even if you guys say you got to come into the office i ain't going i'm not coming back in i'm not coming back so i made that very clear right um so but at the same time so one of the guys he was like uh i would you know i might i'm not really sure if i really want to come back one of these was like well i really want to come back in because i want to you know i'm just want to meet people and talk to people and a lot of times man what i'm finding is that the people who do advocate for going back in they just want to like they have no social life they don't have friends like that they they get their social life through work having people to socialize with at work that's where they get their social life from and i made it very clear i don't need that if i want to socialize with people if i want to go out i can go out and socialize oh yeah i can go out and and do that in a much more fulfilling manner than to be in an office with you guys because quite frankly i don't really care about a lot of what you're saying like i don't really care about your day like what you did over the weekend yeah and half the time you're bothering me like you're interrupting me from being productive telling them talking to me about your cat your dog how you did you know some stuff that's completely unrelated to anything that i'm interested in i got a new power washer i power washed my driveway this weekend it was like yeah it was a great weekend and you didn't you're there like [ __ ] stuck on some [ __ ] problem there's a guy telling you yeah power watch the the driveway this weekend and you're like you just whatever i was on and i was getting into the [ __ ] mood now you just press the reset button on me now i gotta [ __ ] get back into that mood right right i'm not going back so that's the thing man like i'm not going back then so i i would have to be in like financial straights severe financial straits in order to uh push me back into the office but the way that i've the way that i'm working at my situation and the way i'm grinding i don't see that myself being in that it was there had to be something really unfortunate to happen to me because right now it it just yeah that's not the case so but yeah i told him i'm like i don't really care man i'm not it's like i don't need that like i don't need to like see you guys in person i i mean not to say that i don't want to we can we can go out and afterwards we don't need to do this here and be like yo we go to the office to do the same thing that we could do from here like and save the money save the trip save the headache there's times like i'll tell you like even when i was working in the city i would go to the to the job with a [ __ ] attitude i'm like [ __ ] i had to bump into people on the [ __ ] train i had to deal with [ __ ] on my way here if i would have came up and woke up in my boxers and just hop online on the computer [ __ ] maybe i still would have been working at some other companies but you know the the [ __ ] the traveling to the office and the oh the micromanagement of the oh my god you got here nine 905 and you're [ __ ] you swipe your car and the guy from the the security guard is looking at you funny like yo you're gonna get in trouble like [ __ ] that i don't want to go back into the office you know like like leave me here i'll be here on time every day at nine o'clock you'll see me on slack you know what i mean like you'll see me on slack you'll see me on on skype you'll see me on discord whatever the hell you use i'm gonna be here on time nine o'clock you want me on nine o'clock i'll be here nine o'clock but that traveling in the morning that i'm freaking tired as hell and then now i gotta go and go through traffic going home a two-hour trip because everybody is traveling at the same time like nah i'm good leave my ass at home like save yourself a lot right right exactly let me see if we can see the thing is with i'm sorry go ahead yeah i was gonna say let me see we got some new people in here uh wally kohl's wally cole's out here uh yo what's up everybody with the nice setup wally cole i'm waiting for this damn thing to overheat like yours with the professional camera like what's good you what are you bro you're a twitcher you you do twitch nah nah i uh i like making music on the side oh yeah i just this is uh this is what i do man what type of music you make oh me like electronic music hey yeah yeah yeah um so i i find really interesting what you guys were talking about i actually uh i have a friend that's a senior ui ux designer and uh he actually had some problems with the company because uh they had him install software on this computer and this kid could not get away from the desk to take a piss without having to write it down and tell them like i'm stepping away so it's interesting because it's like people i feel like uh you know this is the first time this has ever happened where you know people aren't working in factories anymore like that whole beginning of uh the workforce and now we're transitioning into the digital age so it's like you know people boomers as they say um that are more uh used to seeing people all the time and having that interaction on a daily um they're just having growing pains cause honestly like i mean a hundred years from now i don't think people will be going in the office and if so it'll be for different reasons yeah no i think you're right about that you know it's just it's just i it's one of those situations where it's like man if you if all you know is having people go to an office and work together and hey bob uh did you finish the work today and uh tell cindy and slap that ass on cindy cindy go ahead go get me that coffee you know what i mean like those guys are used to that world right that madman world where he [ __ ] guys like yo we need this guy in the office like now we're coming into this world of like minority minority report where we could do this [ __ ] from anywhere we just connect to the internet and that's it we do our job right it's like uh it's like the iphone as well called the iphone effect like yes the iphone is designed in the united states but each part and every single thing after that iphone is coming from every part of the world whereas like people could be in [ __ ] china building one thing that case could be built in malaysia the freaking the little antenna could be built in the philippines somewhere there's a kid in africa picking the [ __ ] the the the [ __ ] battery pack that it needs you know what i mean like everywhere in the world you know what i mean like this is where we at right now where's cindy where yeah the is room is crazy this is like yo where's cindy with the firm apple bottom to bring my coffee like those days is over like this is over buddy you're not gonna see little cindy no more you might see her icon on a chat and that's saying cindy works remote that's about it little cindy works remote yeah the guys that started earlier they're like yo man i miss office man that girl with that big old booty yeah yeah those days is here no more those days is over buddy you can follow her instagram that's it that's as far as you get you could pay for only friends on the street little cindy gotta only fancy yeah you know how on uh on this like this these chat rooms right you could have a profile yo what is like there's a co-worker you know how they have like a link tree link tree to all the social media accounts oh yeah that's right yeah it's all the way at the bottom it's all the way at the bottom [ __ ] ollie fans and redtube and and the [ __ ] the guy that owns the companies what's right i've never heard of redtube like oh no sure can't reach that oh my god little billy wonder who red tube is you're gonna learn today i'm just thinking about like that boomer asking somebody what's redtube cindy cindy adding some weird links to her her profile cindy's trying to get that extra money on the weekends like yo and you can't say no that's like that girl who um there was a girl who who got fired as being a mechanic because she had her only fans and like yo and she want to have only friends let her have our only fans ain't nothing wrong with that you know i mean what happens outside of work it happens outside of work like people want to be judging everybody yo man they want equality you got your quality that's something that's it man but yeah man i think there are like some exceptions to it though like for example nurses for example they hold like a very high standard for like modesty like they won't even let like gold um entertainers be nurses because of their background yeah that's too much man they just they gotta open the doors to to everything man that's weird because i can confirm i have met a stripper and she became a nurse but i think she left that life though yeah of course i don't think i don't think she's doing that [ __ ] on the weekends like you'll be like yo extra curriculums what's your extra curriculum activities little cindy those things well you know on fridays i'm at big pumps you can find me on big pumps like nah yeah that's good blood pressure out there like now man but um [ __ ] it should be crazy man but you know i think the jobs remote jobs is good man remote jobs is better for your health better for you to be happier you're not leaving you're like nah i'm good i'm gucci i'll i'll take the ten thousand dollar hit like that's not gonna change my life you know before you know people will go in and be like damn they're paying remote i've seen guys that were making like a hundred grand and take a sixty thousand dollar job just to work remote so you know because you're gonna be happier you know at the end of the day so it's a good thing man uh let me see who else is in here we got devin the dev what's good devin what's good that's right hey what's up i just got back from uh barbecue hey there you go uh my church and yeah it's pretty cool it made a lot of meat nice hey yo what no no i feel like you got to talk to smack right now no no no forget it i'm just stupid you know what i mean but um okay yo but now i'm just thinking about like yo dudes is like yo we have a barbecue in july four yeah i want to continue this [ __ ] on july 5th like the party don't stop like we still gonna go for it uh utah's a bit different um it's uh it's pretty um like conservative very christian here and so fourth of july happened yesterday which is on sunday and so yeah that's true on sunday so they wait until they wait until today to like blow up all the fireworks and all this fun stuff so we got kind of like two days of fourth of july so that's they need to put me on i haven't been over there i think i had a a layover flight or some [ __ ] like that one time going to l.a i had to stop in utah but i never got out to see okay i just remember seeing like the mountains from the plane that's it uh the mountains are a wonderful view and uh they updated the airport it's got two levels now so yeah whenever you're out and out of utah let me know we can like get the slopes or something i'm not for sure man i'm with him man i've been trying to get to aspen man want to go to aspen out there you know what i mean but i think that's like what yeah yeah that's in colorado colorado it's the same [ __ ] like i call it like one state that whole area that's that's all i think of it's like yo mountains colorado nevada utah it's the same [ __ ] to me you know i mean like it's the middle of the country yeah yeah it's like yeah it's the middle of the country that's how i look at it i i look at the map and i'm like wait hold on this is to me there was a map somebody did like on instagram and they were like yo somebody say uh they connected alabama atlanta south carolina and mississippi to florida and they were like yo this is all florida all of this [ __ ] down here from somebody that's from new york like that's how it is you go you tell them hey man i wasn't gonna let in alabama you'd be like what florida like it's the same [ __ ] to us you know um same thing is like yo you tell me i'm oklahoma new mexico you're like what's that like texas you know even though there's different states but for us it's like yo it's the same [ __ ] it's the same the same like same area you know it's a new yorker thing i don't know it's beautiful out there i i've been uh i went skiing in park city but for a couple days it's cold but beautiful definitely gotta check it out it's worth it for anybody and where are you from wally clothes oh i'm here in miami man hey we gotta link up yeah oh nice yeah man uh i hope you enjoyed your uh your recent trip well you could it was raining a lot i know it [ __ ] up my day in a lot of ways uh but it is what it is i go back to miami i got a love-hate relationship with miami it's like i have a lot of good fun and then there's times i have a bad time away this time around we had a bad time oh yeah you got to be careful here miami miami has a lot of history yeah definitely got to know where you're at um but on other news i finished my portfolio or putting it together um and i i love it it looks cool it was messed up that's good yeah yeah i sent it over to you um and i'm applying the places so far i've applied to about seven places i got one email back saying uh that they moved on with someone else and that's okay i was actually gonna ask all of you guys especially the ones who already have a position um what was your process in um applying how many places did you apply to uh the numbers that sort of thing what to expect xyz i've heard people uh saying that they've applied to 50 to 100 places before they got they got a job so i would say just just don't give up and keep keep going there's a serum yeah i've been at like two hundred uh whoa 200. inside of louisiana so i didn't have a whole lot of opportunities so i would say probably like 400. yeah that's a lot okay keep on sending them tools until i get a nibble i applied to like 70 places in new york and still didn't get a job but now i'm going back to school to get a computer science degree because i feel like that's what stopped me my opportunities at least yeah it's kind of hard for me to like i tried like just applying and just not really panning out here in utah so i really want somebody with that piece of paper that says they know what they're doing so uh i think you guys are going about it in the most optimal way like uh let me give you an example so i and i talked about this earlier in the discord you you should be you and joe talked about this in his older videos uh back in like 2017 2018 you need to establish your digital footprint linkedin twitter um youtube if you want to do that um github or gitlab right essentially your name should be synonymous with developer you and you gotta build your own personal brand i don't really send out resumes recruiters and i'm talking about recruiters that are internal at companies and external recruiters from third party vendors they contact me why because i have visibility on linkedin and i don't even have that much visibility on linkedin but i have um i have enough to where when they run those search those searches and those queries on on on that site i'm coming up they're checking me out they're hitting me up for uh those touch bases so before i got the job that jobs that i have right now i literally had to turn down five positions be and i did not apply to any of them and it's simply because of building my building some brand recognition around my name did you already have prior experiences working for other companies or is this your first for your first job that yes i did have prior experience working for other companies but my first job that i got which was at a startup um and ironically remote before the pandemic but um my first job was because of linkedin so i think that you have to use uh if you like if you just if you're going to what i want you to picture you're going onto a website and you're filling out an application or you're putting in your your resume you're just one name among many right so stop trying to you have to find a way to distinguish yourself from your competition because you're competing against hundreds of people well go on linkedin and start showcasing what it is you're working on if you're doing if you're self-teaching yourself if you're on a platform and if you're on like platforms like udemy and whatnot if you do a course throw your certificate up there several hundred people view that that will bring you some visibility you can connect with those people then you can connect with the people that are connected to those yo yo yo yo yo yo don't be don't be promoting you to me and my [ __ ] bro i'm [ __ ] with you yo now i'm [ __ ] not yeah i'm [ __ ] with you i'm gonna be right back um take over geek um i'ma get see i'll give you um how you call this [ __ ] mod so you could take over so i'm leaving you responsible for the chat leaving you responsible for all this [ __ ] because i gotta uh be right back i gotta do something go get myself a little drink all right all right no no doubt no doubt so so yeah man um if you guys you know you go into these platforms and you showcase whatever it is you're working on get some visibility and you'll notice that recruiters internal external other developers they'll start talking to you as you'll start getting people coming to you and asking you are you for do you want to talk about a position right don't not saying that you should stop um you know sending your resume out and going to indeed or you know other platforms like that you can do both but don't neglect the other side all right so i mean um i i'm not really a fan of like windy like let's see us okay that that makes 100 sense sense thanks for that um how let's see i don't really understand the full ins and outs of linkedin i have finished my profile and i have put a like portfolio pieces up there of mine um my thing is like okay so i understand all the other social networks work but this one's kind of like a little yeah i'm still trying to get the hang of it because it's like okay so i randomly friend someone right and then it's like all right now we're connected cool um then what then i just go and find another person so pretty much what i'm what i'm what i have in my head so far about linkedin is like all right uh let's say i want a front-end development position okay i'm gonna look up recruiters and i'm going to add all those people so that they get one-on-one exposure with my profile and then i'm going to send them a message hey reaching out i'm a blah blah blah blah blah if you ever happen to come across a position that you think would fit contact me no you don't have to do that okay no that's not what i did so you don't have to do that essentially what you can do is a lot of linkedin is so go and you want to first you want to connect with other developers software developers software engineers front-end engineers front-end developers back-end whatever connect with people in your career field why because as you showcase projects and you guys should be building projects as you showcase them they can um you can get visibility for your post through them because it's what they're interested in and um that helps you to grow your connections if you connect with somebody on a you have a first level connection on linkedin you can connect with their connections as well so you want to go in and you want to connect with other people in the career field right specifically like i said engineers developers all right that's the first thing you don't necessarily want to be messaging them though or messaging recruiters you would be better to get the developers and the engineers and then get like ctos senior engineers people that have power and authority to hire and fire those are the other people that you want to connect with but don't blast them with messages and stuff because most times it's just going to get annoying it's going to be ignored all right you just want to have them in your network so that when you start posting stuff they get a notification and when they check it out there's visibility to who you are that's what makes people peak uh peaks people's interest about you if they stay if go ahead oh i'm sorry so is linkedin almost in like facebook in a way where you can post your projects and whoever is linked up with you can see it yes yes okay so so um you know when you when you're posting this stuff you post your projects and stuff it's a way for people to kind of get a glimpse into what your skill level is or what it could possibly be it's another way for you to showcase you know just showcase your skills and not only does it showcase your skills they might then be like okay let me check this let's see this uh guys github let me see what the code looks like the more the people who are more on the engineering aspect of it might do that right uh okay so this dude i like the way he coded this let me give him a call let me let me send him a message that's how that stuff happens and and i'll say this man um i think that if you're not doing this if you're not utilizing some of these platforms right and like i said i utilize linkedin because it's a platform based on business it's for business and you want to think of your yourself as i i mean i know but we're employed if you're getting hired you're an employee but you want to think of yourself as a sole proprietorship almost like you're managing your career as if you're your own business and think of it in those terms and you will come up with very interesting and effective ways to get yourself in the door to get yourself in positions that you otherwise thought you might not have been this piece that i'm giving you guys is just um one aspect of that thanks man that makes a lot of sense uh yeah we can hear you we can hear you okay hi guys this is uh ian from the bayless code um one of the things i can even uh well well for one thing um i definitely agree um it's actually worked on wonders for me um when joe actually did the 365 coding phase challenge and what i would do is every project everything that i worked on whether it was from joe whether it was my own personal project i would post it up on pretty much on all social media linkedin facebook twitter instagram um even even on youtube and it wasn't even a full year before recruiters actually started to reach out to me because when they search when they search my name um it's synonymous with uh synonymous with developer i've even had people from um companies uh like developers from other companies reach out and say oh hey you know i see what you're working on here um you're working on react are you working on react and you're working on you're working on this you're working on that so making sure that you are visible online is definitely one of the key things that you can actually do if you are having if you're let's say you're having trouble right now applying for jobs and not and not getting a call back because by the time your resume gets out there that they see you you don't want them to say oh who's this guy you want them to say oh i remember him he was doing that 365 day 365 challenge and he was doing all of these react projects maybe i should give you know maybe i should give him a call that's really great advice makes a whole bunch of sense thanks yeah i mean i'll tell you guys about i i had an interview right um this was in march of this year uh i had an interview and the guy said plainly he said yeah man i've been i've been stalking you on social on online i've been looking at your social media i've been looking at your github stuff he literally said stalking in the interview and so that's not creepy yeah but yeah yeah so but these people are looking at this stuff uh i have another interview where i so they were gonna i'm not saying this is gonna happen every time but i was able to forego the code test entirely because they saw my github i didn't give them my github they just looking at my social media presence they got into my stuff they were looking at what i was doing and during the interview he was like oh yeah i'm in your github right now i'm looking at your stuff and what you're doing and they didn't even make me do a code test because they saw the repost that i had there and looking through the code and what i was uh doing with that so they really give you much of a of a whiteboard interview because they could see all that work on your github right right they just asked me technical questions but i didn't have to do any whiteboarding or any uh you know anything i didn't have to do any coding um but they did they asked me technical questions but i didn't have to do any coding because of that so you know you'll get you know if you guys put in the work to do this stuff and then here's the here's another advantage that i'll tell you that you you guys might not have thought of it shows your progression and a lot of and and that's what a lot of um managers and and even some co-workers they they'd like to know that you are not stagnant that you will grow and as in as you continuously post things and give updates interact with with people online on these platforms they get a chance and get some visibility to show oh this guy's growing so he's gonna do that while he's here we're not gonna have to tell this dude to learn this stuff he's gonna do it on his own yo joe's back um this [ __ ] is crazy am i in here in miami florida if you take a drink to go they give it to you in this [ __ ] this [ __ ] is mad weird feels i feel like a vampire you ever seen that movie um what's the name of that movie there's a movie about a vampire a girl goes in and she cops uh like a whole bag of blood now they give you like a bag of like whatever drink you want they give it to you in this bag and this [ __ ] you take the [ __ ] to florida type [ __ ] [Laughter] underworld evolution yup now when it comes to what you talked about earlier about branding yourself um joe you actually have a course on that right yeah so we talked about that on i forgot which course i can't remember the exact one since i've done so many but i think we talked about that in the six figure bundle we also talked about that on the entrepreneur developer on how to brand yourself so if you guys want more information in those two courses you guys can definitely check it out but i've done so many videos about it maybe i should do one for 2021 and give you guys like all the different strategies on how to make sure that when people search your name they know you are a developer just like how geek was saying that if you brand yourself as a developer um you're going to have people come reach out to you geek if you can't mute your your mic it's just is my fault yeah yo you're a joke like a washing machine yeah it's like it's a sound i don't know what it is there's something going on you know the top five programming languages of like 2021 yeah i haven't done i mean i don't know if those type of videos are you know good now but because in reality it it doesn't really matter what language by the way joe just said oh my fault i didn't catch it no but i think even you know a lot of people focus so much on that like what should i learn it's like yo if you're doing web development it's very simple html css that's where you start javascript is where you really start learning about programming language okay and then from there you want to jump into some type of back end you could do it with node you could do it with php you could do it with csharp.net um or even python whatever you're into it doesn't really matter but my advice is always look at uh what type of jobs are in your area because it's always going to be easier for you to get higher in your local state then you getting higher in like a you know another state that's like you know maybe two three hours away i live in the middle of nowhere california but it's still california yeah yeah so i hope i can get a remote job where in like california are you near uh current kern county uh near bakersfield never heard of it yeah there you go now so severian siberians how you say your name sir burn serbian okay just call me chris chris okay just be having some crazy names like yo call me master master sia the supplier is that near would that be near the bay area by chance or no no it's in the valley um wow it's about a two hour drive north of los angeles okay okay so what i was going to ask so um because i think you had said in the beginning that you went to lambda and you graduated from landmarks so what did you like and what didn't you like from lambda um well first of all it's not a scam like they actually do teach you everything that they say they're going to teach you for me um it was just way too much so i was cool when they were teaching html and css i felt good about it you know they had us doing projects the what i like about it is that they'll um at the end of our what they call unit which is basically like i guess it's kind of like a semester in a way they will have us work with other students that are ahead of us to work together to put a project so when you start off with html and css you just kind of do the landing page section of it and once you move on to like the javascript front end then you work on the front end portion and the guy that's behind you does the landing page etc etc um so i like that aspect on it um but i it's it's not a school for everybody it is very fast-paced um that's really what i personally didn't like about it was that it's just too fast-paced i was there were times when i felt like quitting but i just stuck it out and finished the school but um really if i was just to narrow it down and simply is that it was just way too fast paced for me and it was hard for me to absorb all of the information that i wanted to know yeah so um what i liked about when i discovered you was i had never heard of html email until i saw one of your videos i didn't even understand the concept of it but i said oh i could do this like so i decided to buy your bundle and check it out so far so far it's not i don't feel as intimidated uh with the idea of getting a job in this field versus say like a full stack developer yeah so yeah and also the other uh issue with lambda school is there is the isa agreement where you have to so you don't pay anything upfront that is true they didn't lie about that um but after you graduate and you get a job when they're when or if you make over 50 000 a year that's when they take 17 of your paycheck gross for for the next uh two years but no more than 30 000 dollars hold up i have a question um how does so like um how does them the school know or not or like how much you make like how do they get the information well they will find out when you file your taxes oh wow got it so that's one way they'll know they do require you to um they do well first they they ask for the bet to link them to to get your bank account to link up so i guess they can see where you're getting your income i i think i really don't know the full details on that part but they do ask for your uh tax returns wow now let's say um so right now um are you working anywhere and even either programming or not programming at the moment i'm unemployed um i i just kind of spent my stimulus check on your bundle to be honest yeah okay now so okay go ahead now what i will say is do let's say you got a job that is not related to coding does it matter it's just after you make fifty thousand that there are yet yeah that's a good question so it has to be in the field so let's say i decided to be a truck driver and i make 80 000 they're not going to take any money from that mm-hmm so it has to be related to the coding okay that is in the contract oh that's great so that's good yeah so i'm not going to i don't want a badmouth lambda because they are they they they haven't misled me in any yeah yeah yeah no trust me i'm i'm not trying to do a gotcha gotcha like nah i'm not here for that um i i also want to mention they do provide uh coaches also after you graduate then you have uh that they you know two or three times a day they'll kind of have like a session where they invite people to ask them any questions okay so i'll ask them to review my my linkedin accounts or my resume they can maybe give me any pointers i even asked one about the html email and and and they said oh yeah that's uh that's actually a position within your field and as a matter they say that i'm actually over qualified for that position but i'm like i don't care i need money i'll still apply for it yeah no i think even you know even when they said i said you're overqualified it's [ __ ] because at the end of the day what you care about is making income for yourself you know sometimes i feel like you know people come in and tell you well you know react you know a little bit no j yes you [ __ ] you should be making a hundred something thousand like it doesn't the world doesn't work like that right like if if it was that easy everybody would be making a hundred thousand or more on the first job right and that's not realistic you know sometimes uh that's the only thing i don't like about any boot camp is that i feel like sometimes they [ __ ] in in in that sense you see like i don't know if you will see it from the beginning somebody asked joe what what students of yours have you know what companies are they working at you know i named a couple of the companies that some of my students are working at but i don't use those things as a like a selling point be like well guys look at this guys because the reality is that that's not the norm that's the exception that's the reality of it right where you might see you know even like all the posts that i used to see from like lambda a while back would be like whoa look at this guys we got three guys and they're earning a hundred and eight thousand dollars each we don't know their carfax just because somebody went to uh a boot camp doesn't mean that that they didn't know how to code or they have no background that's gonna help them get those positions and that's where i wish they were more transparent and would say because like let's say for you i don't know what was what was your background as far as like what type of jobs you had before what education you have before you even went to any boot camp or got interested in programming and if you go into any any program or or any type of platform and they tell you hey this is what you're going to get automatically like that's not realistic because everybody has a different background in a different journey and also too location plays a big part if you are in new york city or san francisco you have a higher chance of getting higher quicker than somebody who's living in wyoming you know what i'm saying so it's like so many different variables that's why i try to tell people hey start with html like you could get a job there's plenty of jobs that you could get higher with just html and css and when i saw your video you talking about that that actually made a lot of sense to me so that's that's why i investigated more and and i only know of one guy that actually got a job after graduating lamb school he's now making 70 000 a year but he's had prior quoting experience before attending lambda um but that's one guy that i know of there i know there's other that got in jobs but i can only just name one that i personally know yeah yeah and that's how it is i think in a lot of places what's the name of your city because i want to know like now i'm investing i want you to succeed i want to see what's your you know your opportunity so i'm from a small city called delano in california delano the land of the llano t-e-l-a-n-o they're like is that like give me um is that like a cow train or something that could like take you to like like more like tech club city by chance uh i'm sorry was that a question for me oh yeah do y'all have something like a like cal train or like a like amtrak or something that could like take you to a more um like tech hub type city uh there might be no no there isn't honestly yeah so the nearest big city i think would probably be los angeles uh san francisco is a bit further away so let's see okay so yeah it's like a two mile long city so you're not that far off like oh um los angeles right yeah yeah it's about a two-hour drive or so depending on traffic of course then so from from where you at to los angeles is uh two hours yep give or take okay now i would like to move out of california someday but for now i'm stuck here yeah yeah yeah no this is a process you you know yep it's definitely a process yeah like that's crazy html jobs and like just searching html and delano was like it's like one job there like that's crazy so they saw something in bakersfield so let's see if i've typed remote before in the where section does that help or yeah yeah no that definitely helped i'm just trying to see what's there the closest to you because that's always a an advantage if you are local you're going to say so i always start with what's in the local area first if there's nothing in the local area then now of course we got to go remote yep you know no matter what so have you looked into product editor have you looked into those i've only typed html email in the search okay so you got to expand you got to search product editor content editor um is it all the same thing just different titles so product editor and content editor are pretty much the same thing so like let's say a product editor is somebody who works for uh e-commerce company where your job is to edit certain pages um edit like let's say uh the data of like let's say let's say okay you're working on a company to sell sneakers they have all the nike sneakers and they say okay we need you to go and find all the blue sneakers and add five dollars to them okay so that's one thing that you could do uh another thing will be uh hey there's a page here could you go edit this because you change it around instead of saying uh buy from us 100 guaranteed change it to uh shop today 100 guarantee whatever it might be right using the skills that you already know html css this is the things that you're already comfortable with that you don't have to wait until you get very comfortable with javascript get very comfortable with um you know the back end so you could start working right away right so the goal is to get you working as soon as possible you know and start making money because all of this is all connected this is where most developers that don't have a job they don't understand they think that they can't get a job because they don't have uh they don't have any type of history any type of experience as developers you know i think somebody here said too that they were like oh man i'm gonna try to go to college and get a degree because i think that's what's holding me back and it's not that's not what's holding you back what's holding you back is the fact that maybe the companies that are looking at your portfolio they don't think you're ready yet but by you having some type of experience within a company that's doing uh let's say some type of product or some type of service online right you can use that as experience so let's say for example you could become a product editor working for e-commerce company like right now somebody going through my course because say okay joe i want to become a shopify developer right now they take the course they learn it in two months right they have a couple of themes they have a couple of apps that they build and now they're trying to find a job but for whatever reason nobody's hiring them now do i want that person to be at home without a job hell no i wanted to start building experience and start making money with the skills that they already have now what i would say is go into either html emails go into product editor content editor webmaster there's a whole bunch of different ones that's out there every day they add new different titles to all these type of positions but what you essentially doing is working with a website some type of content management system or some type of application and you're editing things around they give you the copy which means like the words the things that need to be put on on the page uh they give you the prices they give you the images they give you all of these things and then now you're basically maintaining this website at the same time because you're working with this company it's a stamp on your resume when you go into uh a company and you say hey i was working for this company as a product editor they don't care about was you building full stack applications for them because you build stack applications you're going to say like they don't care about you building full-size applications for them what they care about is that you have some type of experience and then now they could look at your portfolio and say okay this guy has worked in the industry right like if you wanted to become a shopify developer you can't find that job you could start as a product editor now you've worked in an e-commerce website you know the system you know how the companies work right you know the process about a marketing releasing a new product what happens on black friday like all of these things that that come with e-commerce so then now when you apply as a shopify developer it's so much easier to get in because now they're taking you seriously you get what i'm saying right so even for yourself like you you already have a lot of good things that it's on your end like yeah we could go in and learn html emails that's definitely gonna help you out but even right now with what you got i want you to start getting paid right now this week you're gonna say and you gotta expand uh those keywords to search for you know i always tell people start with html you know if you come in here and just search html remote that's gonna give you a full list of everything okay everything that has to do with this okay as you can see we start seeing things programmer analysis analysts uh you start seeing senior front end developer html css developer marketing this is where you fall in you could come in and say okay cool i'm comfortable with this let me start applying to this job do you have a portfolio or have you built some projects that i don't have one yet no i'm i'm actually i've actually got a friend who's a artist that uh i might have them just do like a simple logo for me and um well right now i'm like going through your html email of course because i i don't even know how to do the uh like the html template table stuff yeah uh that i was never taught i actually didn't even really understood that much until i until i started going through your uh course yeah so yeah and that's all fundamentals that's one of the things that they should teach people that you know because even at that like if you're building a dashboard and you don't know how to build a table and you work with a table like that's [ __ ] that they should have been taught you from before right and get you comfortable with yeah the the uh the html css course that you have uh they they taught us that but once you actually started talking about html tables that was all new to me i actually didn't know about that so lambda didn't teach me any of that stuff yeah i don't i don't know if they do now but at the time that i attended they didn't yeah so yeah so tables are [ __ ] important um but i mean look at this html css developer this is something that you could apply for base hat okay they're doing developer features for front end using html css okay understanding uh css development mythologies atomic you know pretty much they're probably using uh ben uh basic understanding single page applications so they're using ember but look if they're using this html css that means they they're looking for a developer that can be an extra hand like right now you're not at a position where you're comfortable enough to take a a leading role meaning hey we're gonna give you this application build it right you're not there yet you're gonna get there but you're not there yet but that doesn't mean that you have to wait until you're prepared to start getting paid with the skills that you already have you got to start making money with that and that's where a lot of the the developers they make that mistake where they think like i gotta get ready i gotta you know get this big job this big position and it's like nah you could get paid from the beginning that's what i wish somebody would have told me i did the same mistake as everybody you know yeah you know like go ahead oh no i was gonna say yeah that's exactly what i thought as well like i like they kind of over hyped the career like yes you can make a lot of money but but they kind of mislead you into thinking that oh you just just do this for a few months and then you'll start making six figures as you've done it yeah it's never that simple yeah it's not that simple and it's a process and like let's say there's people that are going to be able to get there in a year there's people that already have certain type of backgrounds that they'll get on their first job and there's people that you know it might take you two three years to get to that point but does that mean that you have to stay at home broke until you get to that point hell no when i was learning how to code i try to learn everything about javascript like i used to go in like inspect element like even back then i don't remember if they we had the inspect element but i would go in and i would just go in like this and say something like this let's say like an array one two three right do something like that then open this up and then i will go into the proto and then i'll be like well i gotta learn this i gotta learn this this this this and this i gotta figure out how to use all of this [ __ ] so pretty much learning everything about the language because that's what people will say if you're a really good programmer you gotta know everything about the language so that's what i try to do for a whole year if i would have known that i could have gotten higher in a month month and a half when i learned html css i would have done it because i was broke i didn't have no money at that time i had to be [ __ ] selling pants and going to the you know the goodwill to buy clothes for cheap and then wash them up and then sell them on ebay like i had to do a lot of [ __ ] that i'm like yeah i could have just gotten a job you know entry level and i would have had experience you know and i would have had you know instead of me having uh you know no experience coming in i would have had six eight months working at a major company you know doing work you understand because that's what companies care about what have you done before you know and a lot i don't know why a lot of people you know they don't talk about designs because they they try to over hype this right and they try to sell to people like yo man you're gonna be six figures you're gonna do this and that bro there's people that graduate from college right now if you graduated right now from st john's university with a computer science degree and that's a decent university right that's not mit that's not stanford that's not duke university that's not a guaranteed job you're gonna say and how many people are going to colleges and universities that are basically not guaranteed if you go to an ivy league school that opens the door for a lot of opportunities but that doesn't you know go you're going to your local community college or your local uh city college that doesn't do anything for you that's just a piece of paper so you're on the same level as everybody else and i see people that graduate from college and they're trying to go to this top level positions and they don't even get a call back and people get depressed like them but i went to school for four years and it's because dumb shits it don't matter in the industry what they care about is can you do the job and we don't want to take the risk to hire you first we want somebody else to hire you first and then from there we'll be like oh let's see what you have done cool let's bring you in and it doesn't cost nothing for people to go and work at at a smaller company or entry level job for six months if you get you know sixty thousand dollars your first job that's [ __ ] great because then your next job you're gonna make 80. and then your next job after that you're gonna make a hundred you're gonna say and it just continues going up from there and at the same time you're building your your experience and you're building more skills you know yeah i mean at this point i'd be happy if i could just get 15 an hour in this field just so i can start growing yeah and and that's how it is i mean you could get it bro i'm gonna help you out man i'm gonna help you out for sure i'm gonna have you as a that's a test uh it's a [ __ ] project like yo we're gonna get this kid in the game because i feel like you deserve it you already put in the time you put in the [ __ ] dedication we can see that you're dedicated you know you're not giving up there's people that give up they'll be like well i went to this boot camp i went to this thing i'm done that's it this this is what's all [ __ ] but it's not [ __ ] it's about how you tackle things and how you try to get into the industry if you're trying to go in and say i want google to be my first job you're putting the bar way up there for yourself you got to start here and then start climbing up and you're always gonna get there but if you're reaching for the highest [ __ ] branch on the tree you're not gonna you're not gonna get there like it doesn't work like that you gotta you gotta go one step at a time okay but definitely stick with the html emails right we got to get your your portfolio ready um you know don't worry about the designer this this and that if you want i'll buy it for you bro uh one like i'll get you a [ __ ] a nice portfolio you you know we'll go through theme forest i'll i'll buy for you you know i'll give it to you man so you don't have to well i still had to make projects to uh exactly so again but we want to go in and have a nice portfolio for you so now you can focus on on just the projects themselves so once you do the html emails right uh going through the course right now since you're comfortable with html css i'm gonna set up a whole thing i'm gonna set up your whole portfolio this is what i'm gonna do for you i'm gonna set up your whole portfolio i'm gonna get you the projects that you need to have and i'm gonna get you the portfolio itself and then from there we're gonna start applying to different jobs because i feel like you're gonna get this okay we're gonna get you in the game you know give me till tomorrow tomorrow i'm gonna go in i'm gonna get you a theme and i'm gonna write down each project that you need we're gonna talk about the landing pages that you need for this okay to get a job now not a job three months from now to get a job now that by you know the end of the week you could start applying to jobs okay and you might think well i have to wait until i finish all my projects nah you build one project and start applying with that one you build two prices continue applying right it's like a matter of time the more places that you apply right and also to the more comfortable that you get with interviews on the phone and and you know doing video calls and etc you're going to get this [ __ ] we're going to get you a job bro that's it i'm [ __ ] pissed right now i'm like yeah this kid got to be working right now like let's get him in the game uh um yo cody face bro i'm a bit on the other side by the way but one thing now what you said you would notice about joe is that joe calls everybody a kid you can be 70 you you call your kid yeah no is that is that um is that a are you from new york or i'm from new york but okay yeah we we called kid we were like yo kid my dude my guy you know i mean like that's a new york thing like yeah um yeah man i i've i've been frustrated with uh lambda just how difficult it is and and i to me it's what you've been talking about made a lot more sense than what lambda was talking about and that's kind of why i started following a lot of your uh stuff more you know we we're gonna we're gonna prove a point with you man we're gonna prove a point because i think right now you have the skills and you you know enough to get a job but the thing is that like i said people are are throwing you and say hey man you learn all this [ __ ] in three months six months whatever it was and it's like learn all these things condensed and even right now like you graduated from over there but you don't have enough projects that you could put into a portfolio like right now you should have like [ __ ] you know with the time that you already put in you should have like six seven projects that are solid you're gonna say and i feel like maybe they haven't you know either it could be both ways we're not going to throw it at lambda the whole way it could be both ways they ain't really prepared you how they were supposed to maybe it's too rushed also too it's on your end too because if you're doing this thing you should have at least three to four landing pages that are done that you can say okay i got this landing page is done and i could start shopping you know shopping myself around to get a job right so if you don't have that right now that also is on your end i do have landing pages okay so those are projects that you can add to your portfolio your portfolio doesn't have to be a full stack application you get what i'm saying yeah like that's what that's why a lot of people get messed up you don't have to have like this full-fledged apps now this this things that you can do that companies can use you for like you can see in this job right here they're doing things with ember but i can guarantee you because they're putting this time this thing on the title what they're looking is for somebody to help them out with landing pages that the senior developer doesn't want to do right because if i'm a senior developer i've been in the game five six ten years in the game i shouldn't be building landing pages i gotta focus on the complex things so then now that's your job you just got into the game now you could learn from this help me out with building the html css side of things and then now you're building your skills and you have me to ask me questions and then now you're learning even more now in a year from now six months from now you're not just doing html css now you are in there building javascript applications connecting to the backend you get what i'm saying so this type of job is what that's what they're looking for somebody like yourself but again you gotta create this portfolio something that is gonna make you look good it's gonna show that you are professional and that if they throw anything at you you can build it i'm gonna get three designs um three different designs and i'm gonna give you those three different designs i'm gonna give you two are gonna be landing pages one is gonna be a html email um and also two might if i give you two html emails so you could go in and start building them as you are learning the course but the first two which are gonna be landing pages you should build those right away because you should know html css by now so with that you can get a job and i know i can guarantee that i could get you into a job in less than a month right tops we just got to go in and bundle you up prepare you put you out there how you supposed to be you know and i think that's what you're missing it you know again you go to lambda you go to any other these places they're trying to throw you to a higher position because you know that's what they really want you to do they want everybody to get there but at the same time not everybody's going to go on that journey sometimes you got to start from here and then build yourself up you know so some people some people just don't learn as fast exactly yeah it takes time sometimes you know because it's the same thing like sometimes people go and rush through these courses and somebody that has experience that has done this before maybe there was doing jabba maybe there was doing uh game development and now they're jumping into web development they already know programming they just didn't know web development so you go to those places like lambda where they'll tell you hey man you're gonna be able to get all these results but they don't talk about the type of [ __ ] that the person that got those high results what's their background you you get what i'm saying so you yourself you can't compare yourself to that person because you wasn't when you first started programming when was it like this year last year um at the uh towards the middle of 2019 actually okay so from 2019 to to now we're in 2021 so this is like what almost this is almost two years yeah so in almost two years right doing this stuff you know it's one of those situations that even i'd be like damn bro what was you doing you should've highlighted me before like we would have got you in the game i didn't discover you until a month ago yeah damn i didn't even i didn't even know you were yeah i i've never heard of you until about a month a month a month and a half ago yeah yeah somewhere if i if i had to discover your first i would never sign up yeah save myself 17 of my income for two years yeah i know for sure for sure that's the thing that's why i always be like man people ask me like joe why you get frustrated sometimes and i'll be like yo it's because i wish i would have like the audience that you know or the reach not the audience because i have a great audience but the reach that some of these people have that don't really give good advice or don't really care about their subscribers or don't really care about having people to be successful like [ __ ] if i had to reach that a lot of people have here bro we could be [ __ ] helping out so many people man um but you're here that's what's important you're here and don't worry we're gonna get you in the game because you already have the skills now it's just about packaging you up and getting you out there man yeah when it comes to building landing pages you know just static html css stuff i feel completely comfortable with that i'm just i'm just now learning like um i guess there's a section where you show how to use like photoshop or something [Music] so i need i'm just gonna go through like stuff like that then i'm actually gonna after after after this call i'm actually gonna continue that actually not for sure for sure man um but like i said man i'm gonna help you out man hey joe i'm gonna go ahead you dipping out hey i'm just what i'm i'm getting ready to dip out a little bit but uh right after this but i wanted to say um what you're saying is true so like you had this portfolio website course i did it right so actually my portfolio my personal portfolio was styled after that so uh people and i still get compliments to this day about it and i get calls like when people look at my linkedin and then they go to my portfolio website they'll say oh your portfolio looks great or whatnot so i wanted to just let people know like if you have a good portfolio and i don't really have any projects on there like that yeah portfolio is going to open doors yeah yeah it can open doors so yeah follow his advice also i'm gonna be in the coding phase discord running mock interviews um i need i'm it's gonna be this weekend sometime so uh i'll be posting the discord with regard to like a specific time and uh when people if people want to come through i've done that before and it's been pretty helpful so we're gonna run some mock interviews to help prepare people for that you mentioned you mentioned about joe uh i don't know if i misheard you but you said that he he had a portfolio of course yeah he has a course uh i took it a while ago i don't know if it's still um is it the one that's titled your web developer portfolio i believe so i don't don't don't quote me but i i believe so um but i i use that as a template for mine and okay yeah yeah it i i basically used it as a template for mine i built it and it's my what people see when they go to my my personal website and it's been very helpful incredibly helpful for breaking the ice with recruiters and hiring managers stuff like that um i would definitely advise that you get a portfolio and pay for domain uh yeah i've been looking at domains and um luckily my my name is not taken oh wow you gotta scoop that bro well um i had to put a dash but other than that it's it's available it's a bit of a long name but um i think i'll still get it but i already have been getting it yeah but all right man y'all have a good night man yeah definitely doing it definitely i'll rock with y'all later have a good night man all right but yeah bro send me an email email me i know i remember uh i hooked you up with a discount um but send me send me an email again so i could know exactly your email and just tell me like joe um help me out with the portfolio that's put that subject so i know exactly help me with my portfolio i'm gonna um remember uh what's your email so i'ma save it and then i'm gonna get everything ready for you i'll send it to you right now so joe help me out with with what my portfolio that's it just send me that and i'm gonna i'm gonna remember tomorrow morning and i'm gonna set you up bro i'm gonna get you a nice portfolio that's gonna help you stand out i'm going to give you the projects that you need and we're going to go in we're going to start applying this week you're going to go continue taking the html email course right and then we're also going to give you those two projects so you could go and do like i don't know how much time do you have in the day to actually code and and put in um right now i'm coding from when i wake up till i go to sleep okay so i'm unemployed i have nothing going on right now except for maybe doing a little bit of uh yard work here and there but that's not even too often okay so what we're gonna do is we're gonna go in we're gonna split your days into two half of your day is going to be for studying half of your day is going to be for building the projects that i'm going to give you and that's pretty much it if we could do that within a week and a half and get at least two of the projects done then you're going to be solid you're gonna be able to start applying to the jobs um and we're gonna help you out we're gonna go in you're gonna start getting response responses back from you know recruiters from uh companies and let me know like when they send you those emails and be like hey man joe like i'm getting if you are comfortable answer them yourself if you feel like uncomfortable and what they're asking you send it to me i'm gonna i'm gonna put notifications on your email so i could you know get notified right away on my phone and i'll tell you right away hey man you should answer with this you should tell them this this and that etc so like that it could help you out and get that job man because we're going to get you in this we're going to turn this [ __ ] into a success story because i i feel like you got it now it's just about packaging you up you know what i mean yeah i hear you thank you but yeah man let me see shout out to everybody in here uh we got rutherford we got hector hernandez uh honest k hector let me see cody poppy uh g shashafi who else is in here in the chat uh let me see we got nightbot uh ram mahshwari uh who else is in here uh the the tech rally shout out to tech rally uh we got a couple of people man uh let me see and then from there on the discord uh reading through here uh let me see what's the discord i think i closed it okay here we go on the discord we got my boy devin the dev we got my homie wally codes we got a weight promise we got bustos mine we got cerberin uh chris he's [ __ ] me up with that i i try to change my name but i can't it's all right we got chris we got grav you got jay della cruz we got khalil we gotta press it in your leg uh we got straight jkt um but yeah we got we got a good squad in here we got a lot of people in here over 100 people on youtube and we got i don't know how many people is this one two three four five six seven eight nine 10 11 12. so let's say 12 people inside of the discord live okay so go ahead oh no i was just going to say there's like 105 watching on youtube i feel like there should be way more than that yeah no we definitely got more um we probably had like a thousand two thousand people that came in and out because when you see something like a viewers right let's say the live viewers that's what you're seeing at that moment there's people that come in watch for five minutes 10 minutes 20 minutes and then they leave right but to keep it consistently is bringing a hundred consistent for like an hour two hours one hour that we bring in here matter of fact and so far like i'm pretty sure we got like a thousand two thousand people uh reading through here galen plume says chi chi chi chi chi early from new jersey yo yo yes go ahead go ahead yo i love this community man i wish i heard about this before hey man um yeah man bro i really love your advice man i wish i heard this before but yeah man i've been like studying for a year and a half now without a job yeah and and i actually haven't applied either man like literally i'm one of those perfectionists then i want to be like a senior engineer until i play or like be a full stack or something but definitely i think i was a i think that was a bad idea yeah i know bro like you could go in the deep end man you know and you could try to say well i want to learn everything or i'm never going to be prepared until i learn all of these things and in reality it's like you got to look at this as a job this is not a religion this is not a gift this is not a you know something that you know people think it's like you're born with this is the same thing as you going to a company and getting trained somebody trains you you get to learn the skills and then you could do it the problem is that we feel like this might not be for us or like because maybe we're starting late right and you hear those stories of guys that started at the age of 10 years old they've been coding forever like they've been doing this since forever maybe you never even heard about program until this year right so for us we look at this like this is something difficult but in reality it's not difficult it's about it's a process some people might be able to learn quicker than others or you know but it doesn't mean that that you can't do this right so you know i'm glad that you found me i'm glad that you are enjoying the community you know i think we've been here for the last four years with the same message of hey i'm trying to teach you guys everything that i know and everything i wish somebody would have taught me you get what i'm saying because same way how you're trying to learn how to code and get a job i went through that process i went through the process of like me you know trying to learn everything and trying to learn every freaking framework and when i got into the game i'm like yo i don't even use 10 15 of everything that i learned so i'm saying bro literally like i learned react i learned gatsby i learned um next i did some view i even did some remix man and then i got to a point i was like what am i doing like it's not making sense like i need to like maybe stick to one just one thing maybe like shopify as well because i hear you talk about shopify a lot and and yeah man the problem with me is like i just never stopped learning i think it's time for me to just you know i just cut it and just apply to jobs bro and that's the thing i haven't even been like um declined from any jobs because i haven't even applied and recently i worked for a startup like a crypto startup so i've done the website and then after i finished the website i thought to myself like this looks legit like i know i know like how to do this but i just haven't applied them and i keep telling myself you know maybe i should start an agency because that's how comfortable i feel and i don't know if that's the right thing to do maybe start my own company or just apply to jobs you go always you can always freelance i always tell people try to get a job first but if the job is not coming your way and you could get freelance gigs [ __ ] go for the freelance gig it's not mandatory to choose oh i have this idea yeah i reckon i could just like build websites for all the barbers in my local area that's just not price the whole barbers you know i mean that's smart that's smart that's that's a niche that's what we call finding a niche and if you got connections to those barbers and you don't mind talking to them but hey man i'll be uh i'll be the guy to build your website uh you know i could do it for you you could do it if they want to sell online i could do that if they want to do appointments i could take care of that yeah i feel like maybe i should make it like i could make a lot of money out of that maybe like better than um like junior position or whatever all i want to say is that joe has to be literally the only person the only person in the world to be using discord lightning to be using what this for light thing what's that are you not using the like dark theme on discord oh the light theme well i'm not i'm not into the dark the dark themes for every application i don't like it i feel like um i like the light i don't know [Laughter] i like it back with my soul yeah like i don't think not everything just because we are developers doesn't mean we have to have everything dark for me i like having things light and then when i code i like to have it in dark mode that tells me i'm working if i'm seeing everything dark i feel like man i'm [ __ ] coding right now i'm working like you know like this is my my theme here right this when i'm open this [ __ ] up hey i'm in the zone okay if i open up an application i wanted to have it like this it's like it's a separation of what i'm doing so [Laughter] all right man so um but yeah away promise you know i'm glad that you here in the community welcome to the community this is what we've been doing you know i've been seeing a lot of people pop up and uh now they have the same messages as me but i've been doing this [ __ ] for four years i've been telling people the same thing for four years like what they have to do how they need to get into the game and it works okay it works because i did it plenty of people that have come through here through coding phase have done it okay and we getting results right look i got always when i do a live stream i got like a hundred two hundred people that's an equivalent to like two thousand three thousand people on a live stream people wouldn't come here to watch this channel for an hour or two hours if i was bullshitting you're gonna say like this is not bots this is not like random people that i'm just like well devin devin the dev i found him on on [ __ ] fiverr right and i pay him five dollars devin can you come through i know you are a graphic designer but here's five dollars if you could chill with me for an hour and you know uh just act like you you wanna become a developer or you to do this like this is not fake people everybody that's in here you know they come here for a reason you know and and it's because we're doing something right okay so welcome to the community kiddo shout out to tech rally yo thank you bro bro just from the waist man i know you're legit man like i could see the like i would normally see through the [ __ ] and i know that i think i saw you a year ago and i was like yeah this guy's dead like even your advice is just straight up like just the way it should be a lot of people think oversell it like i hate when people say you can be software in three months i think that's kind of [ __ ] just say legit like the truth it's hard work at the end of the day yeah no you know what i'm saying like three months it's not six months it's a lifetime thing at the end of the day like yeah it's like it's a whole principle it's a process it could look i tell people like this like you could learn html css in a month right and get comfortable right now to learn javascript it could take you a month two months depending on your background how much time you put in right if you're doing one hour that [ __ ] could take you six months so you have your own journey that you gotta go through no one can tell you well every single person comes through here they get a job in three months it doesn't work like that now you know if you go and follow what i tell you guys as far as like searching for jobs and starting with html and looking through all the jobs that's there look at the description can you do those things that they're asking for apply okay and then at the same time even when you feel a little bit uncomfortable apply because it's not for you to disqualify yourself from a job that's not your job that's their job the person that posted that there and is going to look at your email and it's gonna look at that portfolio that's their job that's what they're getting paid for to disqualify people that are not ready for that position and if they gave you the job hey that's on them now you got free training no one told them to hire you you know you know what i mean like that's on them they have to to you know be responsible for that you know because they saw your work and so what level you was in and if they properly tested you or probably interview you then from there they should know what level you can you can do work on so don't disqualify yourself you could definitely get in the game you know but as far as like three months it all depends i've seen people that have done in two months like this is no lie i've seen people that came in and done it in two months but there were just like uh this this kid um i forgot his name chris that at the time they weren't working they didn't have a job they didn't have no school they wasn't going to college they didn't have no kids they came in and say okay i'm gonna sit down i'm gonna do this [ __ ] eight hours a day and they got their job in two two months now who has that luxury not everybody here has that luxury to say i'm just going to stay home for two months straight and and do this thing do this thing like a job most people don't let's be honest they come to coding phase and they come in and they excited like yes i'm going to learn how to code i'm going to get a job i'm going for that six figure joe talk about the bag man i want the bag up i want to be bowling by next year right so people come in with that energy first weekend they doing the work they're doing the shame next week they're like you know what i come in on mondays i do monday tuesdays wednesdays i take off now wednesday comes in they took a day off and they're like [ __ ] i'll do it on the weekend now instead of doing it every single day now they're doing it three days out of the week and then by the time they're like a month in two months in if you lose that motivation and you don't see the big picture you start doing this once a week you're not gonna get no results for a year and a half because you now you just whatever you were supposed to do in two months now you extended it because you're not putting in the work and that [ __ ] happens too you know so i don't want to say that everybody can get a job in two months three months but it does happen it just depends on the kind of individual that you are you know so when people do say that it's not [ __ ] it happens a lot it's just there's not that many people that was that's gonna go in and dedicate themselves for two months three months straight they're not gonna do it a lot of people you know a lot of you guys that's watching this right now i don't want to [ __ ] you you guys know who you are you know [ __ ] am i really putting in my five hours a day am i really going in on the weekends not going out and and just staying home and doing eight hours if i'm working at home or i'm working for a company whatever and i have three extra hours at the end of the day am i really putting it to learning how to code and build my projects only you could answer that you're going to say so can people do in two months three months yes but it depends on what that type of individual is if they want it they're gonna get it if not they're gonna get it at some time you know what i'm saying uh let me see reading through here drake war you came the building shout out to the uk in the building uh even at eight hours a day two months it's still uh rarity somebody says uh it's eight hours a day and six months more realistic bro it doesn't take long six months to get a [ __ ] job bro this is the thing i give you a very good example let's say you wanted to become a front-end engineer and you are focusing on react to get that position that position might take you eight months right like a legit position you know making eighty thousand dollars and more that could take you eight months to get there but who told you that you needed to be at home without getting paid for eight months you could have been working with just html css and every day when you come home learn more about react learn more about javascript and now and your sixth month or the seventh month of you learning how to code you've been working for six months already right you did two months in the beginning you did six months of work now you're showing up to a react position with six months of experience and now you have the skills to become a react developer that's when you get that job position you get what i'm saying it's a process you got to understand how these things work the thing is that people want to go in and say i want to become a react developer they're making eighty thousand a hundred thousand so i'm planning to become a react developer and that's all i'm going for but now you have to go through that process you gotta get experience you gotta learn all of the skills that could take you eight months why would you stay at home broke for eight months get paid fifty thousand is not a hundred thousand but fifty thousand is fifty thousand in your pocket you get what i'm saying it's money that's in your pocket and that's what a lot of people don't understand and they don't they don't see the big picture when it comes to that you know um let me see uh reading through him don't know if you talk about this all right i don't know people talking about github co-pilot i talked about that i think earlier today i'm not really interested in that it seems cool i'm not interested though um it takes at least two months six to eight months to not react uh to get comfortable to get comfortable react it takes a month like let's be honest but to build solid projects right and to you know get get very acquainted with react like it could take you you know six months if you're going strictly to just a react developer position right if you go to like codingphase.com by the way those of you guys that want to learn how to code check out codingface.com um we've been here for now i haven't even mentioned it but but at the end of the day slacking joe slagging right uh look you come to codyface.com and you might come in and you say [ __ ] where do i start joe i want to learn how to code i want to get a job okay this is why i have these things that's in order like this okay html email front-end developer back-end developer full stack react developer shopify theme developer shopify app developer entrepreneur developer right so let's say for example you start here okay all of the courses that are here text editor html css sas like a pro feature-proof javascript or noting npm basics responsive html emails all of those things are the same things that are going to show up in the front-end developer position okay maybe you might have some extra things in here but the majority of those courses are gonna be right here right so basically what i'm doing is i'm giving you a path to get a job right away right so you don't have to wait until you learn all of these courses that are here okay because this is where it starts getting not difficult but a little bit more complex all of those courses from here to here this is baby stuff this is like baby stuff right once you go past note npm basics and down this is where the things get more complex this might take you longer because you need to understand you got to train your brain to think like a developer a programmer okay but that doesn't mean that you have to be broke at this time you could start right here do all of the courses here and do html emails and get hired as a html email developer and even go get hire as a content editor product editor right i'm thinking about creating i'm gonna ask you guys in the chat room and here on on the live discord um i want you guys to put in the number one or the number two if you think i should do this right i'm thinking about creating a course where i break down exactly each position that's out there like saying hey if you could do this you could do this you could do this then you need to start applying to this okay i'll start applying to this position so pretty much looking at what's the job industry uh describing as you know different type of job titles and saying hey if you have this skill this skill this skill apply to this if you have this skill this gives a good skill apply today so breaking it down i don't know maybe i should do as a youtube video i should do it like a free um course and coding phase and i'll do it for free like i put it up for free for anybody to to go in and get access to this um maybe i don't know what you guys think should i do that because i feel like a lot of times people have the skills already to get into certain positions but they've never heard of it it's just like chris that was here you know he went through lambda he come in here now coding phase and he never heard of html emails and he never knew that with the skills that he already had he could have been started applying to a certain job position right so maybe i should go and create a free course for everybody breaking down when are you ready to start applying to certain positions you know so let me know in the chat room let me see what you guys think on discord sounds like a good idea i think so you know so i came across that video i would have known about it yeah okay so uh everybody agrees here that that sounds good let me know because i don't my whole thing is i don't like to waste time so if i'm gonna take my time to build this and it's gonna be maybe probably like six seven videos long probably 10 15 minutes each like i don't want to do it unless people's gonna take it and people's gonna watch it you know i'm i'm all about [ __ ] time you know time is money so if i'm going to invest my time into this thing i want to make sure that you guys think it's a good idea if it's a bad idea i won't even do it so um well you've already put the html email out there already so you already have that information uh it might not be necessary not that i think about it okay so skinny slim says do it some people say okay so you're pretty much going to be breaking down each position yeah so breaking down like in the sense okay we could do it in like by skill wise in complexity when i could say okay boom html css once you reach to this point and you can do this this and this knowing html css you could apply to this job this job this job once you get to javascript and you know how to do this this this this and this this is the jobs that you can apply to you know saying what you think about that wally yeah yeah most definitely uh i i think there's a big uh like i don't know for me personally when i've been learning i'm like okay uh is what i know appropriate at this point for a position like so yeah definitely that would completely patch up any uh questions or insecurities that people have before applying and give them more uh more um confidence in themselves than what they actually know heading into those positions instead of going in blindly yeah i i like it okay cool i'd watch it i have proof okay nice all right so some seems like everybody likes it likes the idea i'll [ __ ] build it you know um but definitely once i put it out guys just [ __ ] take it i'm gonna put it for free for everybody to go and watch it on codingface.com um hey brother you should uh take some screenshots instead of like links because probably if those job descriptions ever go down it won't make sense yeah yeah yeah definitely we'll we'll do that tech rally but um no i think you you give good advice man like i i think one thing people are just not fully aware of like is those jobs even though you kind of said it many many times like or people are too like eager to get that full stack or that no react job like they're like your point man like why not get paid while looking for something better right you don't have to be while looking for something better so um yeah i think we just got a you got to start somewhere and like you know for me i started from like i didn't go work at amazon right away it was like i worked at smaller companies and worked my way up so just like um yeah i i i just echoing what you say man just there's nothing wrong with getting paid man getting paid to learn yeah no exactly because it's like if you could go in and let's say shay like i know a lot of people will be like well i want to become a front-end engineer at this company at this company right but you know what that might be a one-year journey right or that might be like a nine-month journey do you have nine months to just wait it out right some people do some people have the time uh but to me i look at it as like yo you've been broke for nine months like you didn't have to do that you could have been continue on that journey but build you know experience and have some money in your pocket where you say you know one of the saddest parts of like learning how to code is when somebody looks at you on your computer and you got no results you have nothing to show for you know it's not that we got to do this for other people but it's something that you feel good when you come in and you say well i work every day like i'm learning things and i'm getting a result back and like i'll give you an example like one of the reasons why like i always tell people man jump into creating business applications instead of building uh applications or services for regular users is because a lot of times a regular user might not get the the results that they want instantly and then they give up right but if you build an application for a business and they're getting money they see those results every single day right it's the same thing for developers if a developer comes in and says i want to become a developer or like a junior developer or whatever somebody says i want to learn how to code and i want to get in the game but they're not seeing that they're making any type of income they're not seeing their lives going up any type of benefit out of it other than you know some [ __ ] random guy following you on github like that's the only thing that you got to show for like it doesn't show anything for you or to anybody it doesn't like what am i doing with myself right but if you come in and you say okay i got the skills i learned html css and you know what i'm able to make this much this much this much all right right away with some income some type of money you'll continue you'll be more more motivated you get what i'm saying yeah man that's 100 i mean my brother is like a personal trainer and he always describes how like all these trainers they they talk they try and look good on ig and i guess for developers it's like the equivalent of like looking good on twitter and how many followers you have or how many github stars but the reality is man it's like you got to get that bread first otherwise it's just so stressful like these guys are looking good on ig but they they mad broke as hell too right so if there's a way that you could kind of like yeah i mean it may not be that like sexy title in the beginning but at least you get or somewhere right so um i i kind of laughed at the the oh wait promise user id because like he was the one that was saying how like uh like he's just doing a lot of different things like next js and everything i'm like dude that your name is like you're gonna use a weight or you can use processors to resolve your even code but i i just thought that was kind of funny but yeah man i think i was like cracking up but no they're like you and you oh wait promise i feel like you have all the right tools man you just gotta he's gotta apply and like as much as joe can make these kind of videos you gotta like be okay with just getting a lot of rejections because you only need like one yes so uh i don't wanna be all like motivation and like yeah confidence that kind of [ __ ] but like it's it really is just be okay you need to get some thick skin that's all i like the way that you put that just now uh i think that's a really good way of putting it where it's like you know it only just take takes one yes out of you could apply two to two hundred different employers and get rejected 200 times but all it takes is just that one to say yes yeah yeah that's my problem i haven't even applied here so it's time for me to play in it but hopefully i get some yeses inshallah yeah you got this man and it's like yeah as much as joe can make these nice videos and like you know it it's it's helpful but at the end of the day it's like you gotta still make that decision to apply and be okay with it yeah well i just bought my uh domain name so hey there we go there we go we got your boy chris go ahead go ahead getting getting things done do it yeah yeah uh well um yeah it's funny how like you mentioned how like yeah it takes a bit of time to get like like react job like months later i understand that um yeah the funny thing is you mentioned that i could uh also get like like html yeah months before like getting a react job mm-hmm yeah yeah is like i tried interviewing for a job like that like last month i think and yeah the owner of the small company legit say like i was like too overqualified and i should get like a i should be like getting like a much better job and stuff yeah and that happens too sometimes but this is this is the thing right so i don't know like what you had in your portfolio right so let's say you're going to a company and you're showing up for like let's say html editor right i don't know a product editor content editor right you have to fix your resume and your portfolio to that right if that's what you're applying to you got to put it to that level because it's like it's imagine me going into a company and say hey i teach at codingface.com i got a youtube about development i basically worked in the industry for seven years straight i basically been doing this since you know my first website was at the age of 14. 14 this this and that right i come in and hit somebody in the head with that all of that information and here's all my full stack applications right i'm applying to hold on somebody's driving me crazy with this [ __ ] mic oh yeah i'm about to start meeting people hold on i admit like yeah i i put like too much information for that job hold up busters i don't i think it was you i don't know your mic was driving me crazy but i'm gonna bring you back in for a second but what i'm saying is you gotta you gotta fix your your resume and your portfolio according to the job that you're trying to apply for you can't go to a company with like i'm applying to html email developer or product editor and i got a full stack application yeah they know you could do a lot and you could be going going to work you could be working at another company and get paid more now what they're doing is they're scared to hire you because you're gonna leave at any moment right they're like yo we hired this guy today in a month from now he's out of here right like because they know them well you got the skills right and this is just a stepping stone for you so you gotta go in there and make quality work according to the level that they want you to be at right sometimes you gotta take a step and be like okay i'm not applying to overreact jobs i'm not applying to all full stack jobs right if they ask you that on the interview if they ask you about any of those things have it ready you could always come in and pull up and say hey by the way check out this projects that i have here you could create a secret link on your portfolio say um for example i don't know littlebilly.com secret right and then inside of there you have all your serious projects so you could wow them and say damn this kid we gotta get this kid right but if you apply to a html email developer or content editor don't give them all of that [ __ ] because they know them well you're gonna charge more than what what they can afford or you're going to leave out of there in a month from now so that's what they scared you know so you got to keep that in mind yeah yeah go ahead i think it was somebody else who had the the mic yeah uh well i was just saying that yeah i messed up like for sure because no yeah oh yeah yeah yeah all he looked at was my uh my resume and i don't know if he checked out like i get over you know whatever's on my portfolio right now i mean i don't have a portfolio so i just get good um yeah but what type of company was it was it e-commerce what do they do yeah they just make like um like uh just like websites like just html and css and if there's any javascript just like the basics like just for local clients so you should have told them you got something hey man you know i'm looking to work i can do the job like sometimes you gotta you gotta break it down to them but like listen man if you feel i'm overqualified for this you know then well i could do the job give me the opportunity this is what i'm here for if i had other job opportunities in front of me maybe i you wouldn't see me here and just be honest with them and tell them hey i need this job i want to work for you i can do it and if you want me to come in on monday i'm ready to go this is what i can do for you you want somebody that's prepared that this minimum you know minimum training and i could hit the ground running i'm your guy and if they don't want to hire you that's some dumb he's an idiot right that has nothing to do with you there's people that are going to be idiots as business owners and this is why they lose talent and they never go nowhere there's people there's going to be just local little businesses or local little agencies or uh [ __ ] local little [ __ ] e-commerce stores that's where they belong that's why they never going nowhere because when you see talent you wanna get them even if one guy that's really really good comes in and puts in two three months of work he's better than having a guy that you're gonna have to train him for six seven months you're gonna say so if they missed out on you that's on them but that don't don't let that [ __ ] go in this you know you know get you upset or or be like yo man i'm not gonna be able to get this job because now i'm overqualified nah that's [ __ ] that was just that one opportunity that person was an idiot he didn't know what he was doing you know and this and you're going to come back to this person and be like yo this is why they stay in that same spot so don't think that this is is this awesome word that would get like bored too quick but yeah like he knows like i would be like able to get up to speed like within the day and then maybe like next day just like it was interesting to work already and like well i don't know man you got to sell yourself and like if you want the job right i think that's ultimately the most important part right there because like yeah if why why would he think that if based on nothing right you must have said something that could have led him to think that way and i think like even during interviews you have to be a salesman to yourself like why you need that position or like why you you should get that position right so um it takes practice and like practice in front of a mirror and like ask yourself like would you hire yourself at that moment if you kind of said like i want to do something completely different and then you're the hiring manager and they're like well i guess i i you don't want this then right so i um yeah you have to think about it from the other side of the shoe too and like based on what you say is really important uh well as far as i know like i mean i kind of like got stuck on what i was saying at first like during the initial like you know interview talk but i think he just mostly based on what he said off of like what i put on my resume still because yeah i was listing all types of stuff like uh you know like mysql like c plus plus javascript high school and yeah like a couple projects done already they're like full stack it was like yo i got a master's at you and me like yo like hey i'm done they're like put me in coaching the guy got scared he's like yo hold on bro like this [ __ ] is over my pay cut you know i mean like i can't i can't afford this guy i wouldn't mind like taking like the max pay of like 20 bucks an hour like that would be fine yeah but that's the thing that's what i'm telling you like just because that guy didn't hire you don't think that that that's going to continue to happen you know you got to continue applying to those other jobs that guy was a complete idiot right he he didn't know what he was um you know what he's losing and he missed out on an opportunity to have a good worker writing somebody that's gonna [ __ ] really put in some work and and and kill it at the job but that's it that [ __ ] is out of your hands you're gonna bump into idiots all the time bro like there's people i've been in situations that i'm like yo they didn't give me that opportunity they were idiots they missed out on [ __ ] i've been in job positions where i'm giving the the right way of you know the right answer on how to do this project and how to make sure we succeed and people are looking at me like i'm just something and like this dude just came off the thinking road you know what i'm saying and like they ain't listening to me now i'm just a grunt at the job and [ __ ] goes bad because some guy could sell himself as he's the expert and this this name he's the [ __ ] you know he could talk all your [ __ ] ear off right listen they listen to that guy and the [ __ ] company goes under you get what i'm saying like so at the end of the day it has nothing to do with you it has nothing to do with me those people that didn't listen to me they missed out and those people that didn't give you that opportunity they missed out that's why they're not going nowhere when you see somebody that's overqualified you want that person you want that person to say and action why do you want this job and i've had interviews with people and ask them hey man this is actually a junior position why do you want this job you got five years of experience why do you want to come down to a junior position and are you ready to have guys that might have less time in the industry than you tell you what to do and you know what the guy comes in and tells me listen man i got two kids i got a family and you know what i will be grateful to have this job i'm gonna be honest with you right this might not be my dream job but at the end of the day this is the job that i can do and i know i can do very well and i can guarantee that i'm going to come in every single day finish what i have to finish work hard and continue to work with you guys because you guys helped me in a position where i needed help and i needed this position right now not everybody's going to be like damn we got to give this guy a job but i went in and vouched for that guy right because you go to one of those [ __ ] amazon interviews you one of those guys go in and tell them that story or be honest with them maybe they're not comfortable with that they're like what type of decisions have this guy done in his life that he's now begging for a job i'm the type of person that'll go in and be like you know what this is a person that needs a job and he's gonna work hard for him he's got two kids and he's gonna you know he wants to provide for his family i know he's a hard worker right i'm not throwing amazon under the under the bus but you know forgot tech riley was in here but this is [ __ ] you know but whatever like whatever company it is so what i'm saying with that is like yo sometimes you gotta [ __ ] just how tech riley said you gotta go for it for you and say hey man this is why i deserve this job sometimes you gotta go in that [ __ ] cocky mode and be like yo because if you're already feeling like the guy doesn't want to give you the job throw a [ __ ] hail mary and be like yo listen i deserve this job the guy's gonna raise his eyebrows like wait what what you mean you deserve this [ __ ] i deserve this job cause i have the skills i can come in and do the work i'm a hard worker i'm not gonna come in late every time that you need me i'm gonna be there for you one thing that you're gonna know about me is that when anything that you want me to do i'm gonna get it done in a timely manner whenever you know whatever the [ __ ] you come up with some [ __ ] get your swag up speak up and like you know what because that's it the interview's over the guy's telling you yo you know you're overqualified this is the moment when you go in you're [ __ ] down by seven right down by six points you're on the other way other side of the [ __ ] enzo the [ __ ] people are [ __ ] putting the pressure on you you're gonna lose anyways this is when you throw the hail mary whoop throw that [ __ ] to the [ __ ] air for catches and catches but leave out of there feeling like yo i put everything on the line like i'm listening to you and i don't feel like you put everything on the line i feel like you went in there like oh well okay you know it's fine it's what it is now tell the dude's like yo you know i i could do this job come on man stop playing me let's put me in give me one week in coach put me in coach come on you know i can do the job well give me give me a week i'll i'll come in and i'll be like yo give me a week you don't want me here i'm out of here i'll get out of here and you don't have you don't have to even tell me anything you send me a text joe don't come home don't don't come to the office and i won't come in i don't even ask for anything else but give me the opportunity sometimes you gotta vouch for yourself you know that's i i i think i would have uh yeah i would have said something like that it's just i never like got myself in a position like that he told him over qualified so i really didn't know what to say to the first time around so now you learn so this is this is a learning experience so you still won you you know what i mean like you still won because now you learn for the next one throw that hail mary and be like listen man just get comfortable because you're they're getting you out of there you're gonna say well man you know we're qualified you know i really appreciate you coming in throw the hell mary and be like listen man i'm gonna be honest with you before i leave i want you to think about this you know i deserve this job you know i could do it for you right i could do what you want me to do for this position and i'm gonna be happy with this job and nobody's gonna work as hard as me because you gave me an opportunity [ __ ] sell yourself and be like yo people love that [ __ ] because then it reminds them of them you're gonna say when you're a go-getter moments like that reminds you of of yourself and be like damn that was me 10 years ago that was me 20 years ago but if they just be like well he's ready to go too like he's ready to go and you're ready to go it's like the conversation's over let's get the [ __ ] out of here i ain't got time for this [ __ ] today right and that's just how it is that's how the world works it you know but also too just like you said it's your first time the more interviews you go to the more comfortable you're gonna be so like i said you're gonna continue applying to all these places and don't let that one bad experience that they told you oh you overqualified because i've gotten that [ __ ] so many times man i remember i was going to this company in astoria queens and uh this girl this lady that was the owner of this agency i was way overqualified i've worked in places that i'm way over quite almost every place i've worked for i was way over qualified right but at the same time i'm like listen i'm gonna do the job i'm gonna put me in if i'm here it's for a reason i didn't come here because i you know i don't want to do the work i'm not leaving from here you know what i mean so just tell yourself but yeah guys listen i appreciate everybody coming in here and hanging out with your boy um heading out of here uh i got a lot of things to do and i want to just some [ __ ] that you need i already know how to code i already know how to do this right i went through the process i'm trying to help you right and at the end of the day not to sound cocky but you need this right that's the truth and i built it because i know that when you're learning how to code you need one place one instructor one person to hold your hand through this process right you can't go to like a big company or some random person on youtube or whatever platform you're out there that doesn't know you like we try to make sure our people succeed okay and from day one the goal is for you to become your boss that's the difference between us and everybody else everybody else is trying to put you on a worker mentality i don't even work for nobody bro and i like it like that's the truth i don't work for nobody i work for myself right and i try to tell all of my students the same pathway that i took on how to make my own income but it's a process you could go and try to do this on your own [ __ ] you could learn how to code on your own with nobody you could go look at the documentation but you know what it's gonna take you longer you know what you're gonna do mistakes this is the biggest problem when you're doing [ __ ] by yourself with nobody holding your hand it's like going to a gym and starting on legs and you're like yo i'm trying to lose my gut you're not going to start with your legs bro you're trying to lose the gut you got to work on on your abs you got to work on on cardio you got to say you don't know what you're doing so yeah you could go and do this all on your own but allow me to help you out i'm gonna take care of you okay i'm not gonna [ __ ] you i'm not trying to upsell you on something that you cannot afford i'm not trying to go in and give you hey guys buy one course here's my one shopify course and it's seven hundred thousand you know two thousand dollars three thousand dollars here's my javascript course here's five hundred dollars here's my python course 500 nah bro i'm giving you all of the programming courses for 20 bucks 20 bucks that's it every single course that you see here right you get access to it for 20 okay we go into the full stack developer you see all of these courses right 20 bucks okay every single career bundle you see in here we have courses that are also on the monthly subscription okay yes anything that you have to fire emoji yes you got to become a yearly member and that's because those courses take way longer to build okay so at the end of the day it's out of my hands i wish i could put it in a 20 special but i can't so to make it make sense and give you access to everything the only way that we could go and make it somewhat profitable without me losing right i lose on the 20 specials right but i do that so i could teach you how to code you get your job and when you get your job and you're ready to start making money independently you come back and you sign up for a yearly subscription or when you come in and you do it for three months you'll be like [ __ ] i paid 20 this [ __ ] was a really good deal let me sign up for the yearly subscription let me see what's in there in the premium courses right that's my catch i'm super transparent i give you guys everything all the programming courses this is the same [ __ ] that you will get at udemy if you was to go and buy it independently each course for ten dollars you could go in and learn html css for ten dollars you could learn for terminal for developers for ten dollars every single course would cost you ten dollars but now i say you know what for twenty dollars i give you everything learn how to code get your job when you get your job now you got that hunger how can i become an independent developer how can i make my own income how can i become an entrepreneur developer and make my own company that's what the yearly subscription is for all right so it is what it is man it's your boy joe i'm super excited we had a lot
