read all the books so brain guys don't even worry about it if you guys think that I not thinking here that maybe you need more books huh where am I going what am i doing umm alrighty that will push us an easy simple little trick to do because you've you've built up this established order of how big the space is how big aperture is and that stuff all moves round cuz we've seen the more bombastic stuff but this is literally just this panel moving I don't think you can actually see outside of this chamber outside of this one panel and that's an easy thing to just float that panel over the top of this whole test chamber really clever solution unless they actually built the whole thing and then dick on me because valve are amazing ok not ideal not ideal at all at all what if where does it go let me let me see if I can block it is it that good that block um nice that block them real nice that block them real good lis we can do this epic very nice I'm not really sure what to do next though because we need that we need that to go through there yes yes yes yes quite quite yes I can't go through here cuz it got in my portal ha well then it seems that we have reached an impasse okay I'm show people that it's okay to not be brain are you are you absolutely sure you're solving these correctly I mean yes you solved it but I'm wondering if maybe there's a number of ways to solve them and daddy I'm not glad about this it's so awesome looking though look that you can see the outside of the test chambers and how it's all put together and everything's just a bunch of panels that you can move around they're all modular means you can plug pieces of them in and out like a modular power supply for my computer is that I can plug in just the cables I need but if I need more I can plug in more but I can also plug in this you know is that gonna crush me that's a question I have no it didn't were life happiness the hell haha are you in there little wheatus in two seconds will you come I really love just how incredibly realistic the physics in these games look like the wall crumbling and it's just falling a parent onto the ground seeing that stuff in VR was half life Alex for the lesson I thought you were my greatest enemy when all along you were my best friend the surge of emotion that shot through me when I saved your life taught me an even more valuable lesson where Carolyn lives in my brain no you know deleting Carolyn just now taught me a valuable the best solution to a problem is usually the easiest one and I'll be honest killing you is hard you know what my day is used to delight by just stress nobody murdered me or put me in a potato soup for fed little birds I had a pretty good life and then you showed up you dangerous new lunatic you will yeah instead they'll come back if we go [Music] Oh we get another song move on the sideways turrets the leg ball or the blackboxes the turret boxes the choir of turrets look at the big boy ball there's a giant tiger skin it's a tiger king who planned this you guys did you plan this for me cuz it's my birthday ah guys bail of bashfulness [Music] there's a box one running around in the background [Music] [Music] [Music] we made it hey companion cube came back from the first game oh man so good what an absolutely amazing video game the final battle is a little too similar to the first game but I mean how are you gonna do a boss battle in a portly game but that shooting that portal at the moon is so [ __ ] crazy oh and whateleys out in space mm-hmm kind of feel bad for him it's not his fault he's a big dum-dum he doesn't know oh we did it he finished it oh what an amazing game a lot of it I remembered but there was still parts that I was like oh god yeah like that moon section I totally forgot about and it was part of that thing that I was saying before how you're limited to where you can shoot the portals and you're in these rooms then you get to these certain bigger areas that you can shoot them across these entire expanses and then to give it to you at the end Rica shoot from that earth to the moon that's a powerful ass gun first of all but absolutely blew my mind the first time I saw it such a cool ending it's also a heartwarming ending they could technically just close off the games here and never go back to them I really hope they make a portal 3 I don't know how they would how it would work because shell left shell got out of their facility and that's the way the game ends and I can't remember if they said it in and I said I was gonna wait for it but maybe I missed it but I think she's been in that testing area asleep for 50,000 years I can't remember let me check oh why don't I think it was 50,000 years where did I read that that was that cuz that what I read that I was like this until [ __ ] way that that's accurate 273 years one month and twenty days apparently people have worked out so I mean that's a long time oh there are actually 55 9s in a row in the audio file that repeat in the background behind the next quote from the announcer various people from valve have said that she's been asleep for around 60,000 years or there abouts I knew it I knew I read it somewhere that it woman you have been in suspension floor nein nein nein nein nein nein not this courtesy call is to inform you that all test subjects should vacate the enrichment center immediately so the 999 keeps going on in the background after he keeps talking Jesus so yeah she's been in stasis unless the thing is just broken but it's I I have read some places that it was like fifty thousand years which is crazy and like what what is the world like outside of this now between that and how this because this game connects very strongly to half-life was an Easter Egg that I missed I missed so many of them I I should have looked up where to find them before I started in the series it's it's one of my only regrets with this series right now because I finished the game before it wasn't gonna spoil anything for me but some of the some of the secret hidden chambers I missed I'm not too worried about those are just kind of a visual thing and they're fun but one of them that I missed is an entire harbour or the boat the borealis was going to be or is I can't remember if it's actually in the game which was just missing there's like a harbour dock area and the borealis is linked to Black Mesa which is half-life and apparently they had a technology on the borealis with the borealis itself is the technology or something and it connects the two worlds together I'm sorry that I missed that but between all between this game the first game in this game huge amount of time has passed the whole place has fallen into disarray that's why everything is just defunct and it doesn't work and everything's broken and all over the place and overgrown cuz Nature has reclaimed its stake on all of this and this is way underground so if it's like that there then we we get above ground and it's just like a cornfield so do people still exist are they working is what is life like outside of that chamber that's the reason I want to see more from this game but how it ties into half-life is it just really far after half-life because I don't know how the time line connects I'd have to look it up but overall phenomenal game it's so hard to find any fault with this game it takes what the predecessor did builds upon it gives you more of the same which is what a sequel should do but also expand upon it in so many positive ways like you had the regular testing chambers but then you got the where the bouncy path and the first one god I just played it and I can't remember it all blends together but yet the bouncy pads you had the gels you and you had the gravity tunnels whatever they're called and the light bridges so it's so many different elements all now in this one together working in synergy to make these puzzles and it's it what do I have to say I have no negatives to say about it writing some of the best in video games sound design it's fine it's nothing like groundbreaking a revolutionary but it gets the job done and that's absolutely fine the graphics still hold up like when did portal 2 come out some of the visuals in this game still impress me portal 2 came out in 2011 so this came out the same year as Skyrim and battlefield 3 battlefield 3 was pushing the envelope for what visuals were at the time and was the best-looking game around but some of the lighting and some of the scenery in this and how the lighting interacts with it is phenomenal it still holds up today and looks incredible and it's it's kind of timeless because the art style does so much for it the voice acting is phenomenal the new characters they introduced are just amazing it expands upon the story in really great ways and expands the universe and the lore it shows you so much more behind the scenes of what aperture is how it was formed the early days of aperture how it connects to some of the other parts of the game just a 10 out of 10 video game so absolutely amazing and I I just can't say I have no negatives what what did anything piss me off that I was complaining about I don't think so I don't think there was any gripes so I just I really really like this game I think it's great really such a fun character as well it's it's cool to get a character that you really care about and his really well voice acting is really funny but because he was introduced and takes over and then you get to get these moments with GLaDOS and get to see that she's more than just a robot she was once a person that was just shoved into this robot or at least a personality or whoever that actually works in this universe but for all intents and purposes she was human once and she was Cave Johnson's assistant secretary and it's cool to get more depth to her she could have easily just been the same snarky robot and the game starts off like that but it just goes so much further and really adds to that world I talked about in one of the episodes and kind of forgot to expound upon it but when valve talked about making the half-life games they say that half-life is always their benchmark for where their technology is valve really like pushing video game technology is so much further and their engines and everything that half-life one completely revolutionary when he came out no other game was like it when it came out and everyone was obsessed with it I den half-life 2 came out push that technology so much further with all the advanced physics the lighting the facial animation the lip-syncing all of that stuff was really revolutionary for the time as well they went away they made like left 4 dead 2 portal 2 all of those games portal 2 was I guess it was revolutionary in its own regards but as far as the technology aspects of it it was like the the engine was already made for half-life but they all only time to make a new engine or an upgrade to it they do it for half-life first because that's their way of being like here's all the toys we've put into this engine here's the technology we've built here's how good it looks and here's the max capacity of what it can do right now and what we think it's good at and half-life is like a tech demo for that it just happens to be wrapped up in this incredible story and rich lore and a very fun game but that's why they didn't make half-life 3 because they weren't pushing technology anymore they weren't pushing it to the next level they could have made the graphics nicer and the sound kind of better but nothing was like revolution so that's why half-life alex is a vr game they made it vr because that's the next step in gaming revolutionary technologies that they see so they said when they were making half-life Alex that they thought about making a left for dead game they thought about making a portal game but again moving around in portals in VR is gonna get very motion sickening I don't know if it would ever work if there's a way around that without cheapening the experience to do what we did here in VR it would require so much more coordination because you're moving the headset instead of just having a flat screen where you can just move your mouse around on a flat surface so how that would work I don't know I would be very curious to see some sort of demo for it but I imagine it would just make people very very sick so now that half-life alex is coming and has come out if you haven't watched it I will link in the description you can go watch it for yourself it's an incredible game an incredible step forward for the series and if any of you have watched that you know how it ends ok if you don't know how half-life Alex ends go watch it now and then come back to the end of this or just leave this video because we're not really gonna talk about anything much else anyway I'm just wrapping things up okay got it spoilers time Patrick garlics ends with the setup for half-life 3 so half-life 3 is probably gonna be in VR as well whether all of their games are gonna be in VR going forward I don't know I really hope that they take source 2 and make a portal 3 with it because I think that this story and the universe in these games is so good not to do that and I would love to see these environments in source 2 I would love to see that lighting engine kicky and I would love to see the portals and the glow and the shine and oh it would be so amazing I would love to see she'll come back and maybe work with GLaDOS because something in the something in aperture has gone awry or something like that I don't know it would be so cool but yeah that is it you saw Atlas an p-body at the end of the game those are the characters you play in in the cooperative game there's a two-player mode in this game where it's two people solving puzzles I played it with Bob on the channel you can go click a link in the description if I put them in or you can just search for a report and to co-op on my channel and you will find it they're also really really fun it's not that long but you get to play as those two characters the long skinny one in the small round one and that was very very fun to do as well and it's more portal so it's great but yeah that wraps it up for portal I'm really glad I got to play it and go back to a classic like this I'm trying to think of all this is one of those games that when it came out you tubing wasn't a thing and now I'm like man I what I was doing as doing youtube videos I was like I really wish this game came out now and I could play with fresh eyes for you guys but I thought why there's nothing stopping me going back and playing it again so I'm really glad that I did that and really glad that this idea kinda came to my mind because this opens up so many other games that I've played over the years and as a kid and whatever that we can just do on the channel and have like throwback series so if you've any suggestions for what you'd like to see next in that sort of vein nothing like extremely long like I'm not gonna do a persona game play or something cuz it's just it's way too long I'd never get through it but something like this or something from your childhood or some old game I have some ideas for some that I play that I'm really excited about but yeah just let me know down in the
