HTC vive and now this is the successor this is brand new I only got it last week there about so it's only after coming out in the last while and I'm really excited about this one this is the high-end consumer VR headset the oculus rift is fantastic I love that headset but it's more geared towards affordability and working on a budget this is really high-end so not only does this run at 120 FPS which is much faster than all the other headsets it comes a brand new controllers brand new base station sensors this one doesn't track itself the way in the oculus rift does and it comes to brand new speakers and the speakers float over your ear they actually float to about here you'll see it as I'm playing so there are speakers firing at your ears rather than just being headphones that you put on but I'm gonna get in and I'm gonna play the VR hand demo because valve make little demos to showcase their technology when they come out when the new headsets come out and this one is testing out the brand new controllers look at that bad boy super comfy controller super easy to put on they flow in your hand you just go like this and it detects each of your fingers when it's touching the controller so this time when I'm touching I can actually stick up my finger I can point I get sick of my thumb I can do anything that your hand can do he can even slap someone with it it's amazing so was awesome I know it was just a little demo boy got the vial of sense of humor and the portal sense of humor it just goes with everything but these controllers are mightily impressive being able to some of the fingers didn't detect properly cuz I think it detects on my Pam twitch is it so some of the fingers didn't work perfectly but considering what the controller looks like and what it is that level of like clarity in the movements is nuts and being able to actually squeeze things means a lot as well no games really take advantage of that yet but I'm really looking forward to seeing what people can do with it like you grab like an orange or a balloon or something you can just like pop it in one hand because you're squeezing so hard I mean there's no practicality to that but the ideas that could go into that would be really cool I like this a lot I like that that has an analog stick again and it's not just the trackpad like the old via controllers it still as this can attract ride which I don't get I don't think that would be useful at all but these are super comfy be able have it on my hand and it doesn't fly off and it's it just sits there and I can press a button and it just releases and then I'm back in and then I just pull a cord and I would if I was I'm holding a billion things you pull the cord and the controller's back on it this is way off has a good weight to it it's balanced I like it a lot the headset itself it's not a huge difference I mean if you play a lot of VR the biggest difference so far is the refresh rate being able to see things like super smooth really makes a difference in VR I'll have to play something that's much faster to be able to see how it handles that but the fov is also wider it's out to about here now instead of like the the oculus rift kind of blocks off the side of your vision but the speakers are really impressive I didn't I expect such good sound out of them again I need to try something like beat saber I'm not gonna try beat saber right now because it's way too warm to play beat saber but maybe you should try on something else maybe I should try out like Gorn or something because I think that got updated whoa Gorn baby okay this looks nice this is the headset looks really nice it doesn't do the finger stuff because obviously it wouldn't need to it's just open or closed but the controllers feel really good for this like I feel like I'm actually holding a fist now I like that a lot okay so it says there's a new thing here a limp top I have to defeat somebody with a Valkyrie helmet I think I don't know who okay can I just win by default it doesn't really work right now well I see this as an absolute win the crabs behind the door I blocked them off I have stopped the site you know what no more blood needs to be spilled I have sold it passively but pass you're welcome but all in all very impressive tech I think that that's the one that I'm going to go with now for all of my VR recordings because when I had I was worried that the base stations were still going to have tracking problems my vive her tracking problems in this room specifically and the oculus rift doesn't need stations anymore it tracks itself which is really really nice and the responsiveness of it is really nice but the overall comfort this headset feels lighter than all the other ones and the controllers feel so much better than all the other ones that okay I'm gonna have to go with this from now on not only that but the speaker's sound better on your ears the sense of spatial audio is actually really impressive I just don't know how it's gonna fit for people who have noisy environments because it's sitting on your ear or sitting around your ears rather than on your ears that means that all the sounds from your room are gonna get picked up so I don't know how that's gonna work for people but responsiveness of the headset screen door effect resolution all that stuff is very very impressive I like it a lot the fov is hugely impressive as well that I am very happy that I got this so it's a very very nice headset I don't know if it's for everybody again this is the higher end of stuff this the two controllers and the two base stations cost like $1,000 which is way too much money for many people to be able to buy a VR headset when especially when the oculus rift costs about 400 I think and everything comes included with that and the oculus quest again oculus quest has no wires it just even plug into a computer anything it's all built into the headset and that's even cheaper and you can play with that in any room in your house so if you're looking for just regular ass VR if you want to get a VR experience that's pretty much the same as this but on a budget I'd highly recommend the oculus quest it doesn't have many games out for it right now but it is I think that that's probably heard the future of VR lies this is very good if you want the highest end of VR if you want stuff that's going to end up looking like real life powered by your computer with the most responsive and fastest screen available then this is going to be for you that's going to do it for this video it was just a little simple quick test to see what the valve index was like I'm probably gonna play every VR game from now on it so I wanted to showcase what it actually does and what it does different when it does better I know this video has a lot of talking and a lot of information in it so hopefully it's still entertaining and for those who were interested in VR tech hopefully got some information out of it but there's a lot there's plenty of videos explaining or this headset does and what it does better or what it does worse or different so you can look those up as well but for now I'm gonna peace out
