Two points won me over WD2 (for context, I loathed WD1)
Beautiful scenery and integrating photography as a gameplay incentive for it.
Systemic design for emergent gameplay (similar to Deus Ex or MGS5). I remember ghosting in one mission using only my gadgets, it was super satisfying.
Haven't watched the video yet, but I love his other stuff so I'll save it for later.
I also just finished Watch Dogs 2, and it was a very good game, kept me entertained for 40 hours plus. Everything is pretty much better than the first one except the story imo. Like the first one wasn't The last of us or anything, but it was more cohesive and actually had character arcs and a climactic final mission.
Watch Dogs 2 campaign is very entertaining with tons of fun set pieces, but the actual narrative is very disjointed without any real endgame or gravity to it. You just fuck up Blume's shit for 30 hours and then it's over.
The open world is awesome though, probably my favorite modern city in any videogame so far.
Never played 1 and have no interest in Legion, but I loved 2. I live in the Bay Area, so SF was a huge draw, and I actually liked the characters. London as a location is cool, but not having a protagonist is a huge drawback to me.
After playing WD2 and Legion, I have to say the city in WD2 looks so much better graphically and artistically.
Is WD2 worth playing if I'm trying to get into the series? I always skipped it despite actually enjoying Ubisoft open world games but I'm unsure if I should treat Legion as a jumping on point or go back to 2. Or 1 for that matter.
While I enjoyed both the thing I remember most was hacking intruders. You see that one cat park weird, or stop behind another with weird spacing...
